While the writing was wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed the plot of the book and main character, I was seemingly frustrated with the male lead. He frustrated me endlessly. However, Laurie, the protagonist, was wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to see her story and be inside her head. I could help but cheer for her as she took the different steps in her life and stood up for herself.

Great novel. I read it in December thinking it had a strong Christmas element, but it can absolutely be read any time of the year.

This is an easy read and light-hearted and good for a book to just escape to without having to think too much about it. It's the type of book I was looking to read during a busy season. It's mostly predictable and just like a typical romantic comedy. The main characters are endearing but I did not like the choices they all made in the name of love.

This contemporary romance is perfect for fans of holiday tales like Love Actually. Laurie thinks that love at first sight exists only in movies, until the day she looks out a bus window and locks eyes with a man who she knows instantly is the one. As the bus pulls away, Laurie feels strongly that their paths will cross again. She never expects that when they’re finally introduced, the man is dating Laurie’s best friend. Like other breakout novels in this evolving genre, this novel provides a heartwarming story with surprising depth. If you're on the hunt for a Christmas time read that isn't a Christmas story, this is it.

I received and Advanced Reader Copy. I am voluntarily leaving a review. This book is about a woman, who spies a man at a bus stop and they have a moment. She spends the next year trying to find the man, but to no avail...until the day her best friend and roommate introduces her to her new boyfriend, Jack. Yes, it is the man from the bus stop. The book covers the question, what do you do when your friend is dating the man you thought you were destined for. Ten years of friendships, misunderstandings, relationships and breakups and what ifs. You will be laughing, crying and yelling at this book. An enjoyable read.

This was a true "Love at first sight" story. Laurie has just got off work, and while sitting in a bus, through a steamy window she sees a man she falls in love with instantly. But any chances she has connecting with this mystery man are gone when the bus pulls away. Laurie and her friend Sarah spend a year looking for this mystery man. One night at a Christmas party Sarah introduces Laurie to her new boyfriend Jack, and Jack is the man from the bus stop whom Laurie has been looking for all that time, only to find he dates her friend. This is a story following Laurie, Sarah, and Jack as relationships develop and break apart. A great romance read. I loved this book because it makes you wonder what you would do in these types of situarions. Makes you believe in true love. What I enjoyed most about this book are the characters. They're all well developed. The storyline was great.

THE OPINIONS OF THE REVIEW ABOVE ARE MY OWN. AN E-BOOK COPY WAS PROVIDED TO ME BY NET-GALLEY. Even through a e-copy was provided I prefered a physical copy, so I purchased a paperback copy for myself.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It's a tale of love at first sight, bad timing, missed opportunities, and cruel fate! I adore the angst of love gone wrong. The "if only", "I should have", "why didn't I" moments. Many reviews have mentioned the end being too abrupt, and they are completely right. It's the reason this isn't a 5 star read for me. You get a satisfying end, but just not enough detail. That certainly leaves lots of room for a Book 2 (hint hint, nudge nudge dear author!!!)

Far more complex and thankfully, not a typical romantic comedy, One Day in December was very nicely written and compelling. The British characters are lovably flawed -- the author has them stumble through friendships, breakups, dreams, jobs and finally love. They drink too much, love too much, mess up their relationships -- and I found it all quite endearing.

Oh my...what a great read! Yes, this is Chic Lit, but the very best kind: funny, warm, charming...and smart. It reads like a page-turner that won't let you set it down, and deftly carries you through a bevy of emotions. I loved every minute. Thanks NetGalley and publishers for an advanced copy of this novel. No question...5 stars. I'll be looking for more from this author!

Such a cute and charming read, I loved this book! Starting and ending in December, spanning over 10 years, it was the perfect read for over the holidays. I loved that this book explored the depths of relationships and that it wasn't just a sappy love story. The characters are complex and conflicted which made it all the more real and honest. This will pull at your heartstrings and make you believe in love. The kind of love that you should never give up on, the kind of love that will withstand time and all obstacles.

Thank you Broadway Books and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for my honest review.

Considering the fact that you are almost certain from the beginning how this tale is going to end, the journey in itself was well worth reading about. Relatable characters, believable situations and protagonists who don't compromise their morals regardless of their feelings. A lovely romantic tale with the proverbial happy ending.

I absolutely loved this book. Read it in one sitting because the characters and the plot were so engaging. Looking forward to Ms. Silver's next novel!

This novel has received a good deal of attention, including being selected for Reese Witherspoon's book club. It is the story of Laurie and Jack, their friends and families. It is a story of a romance that may or may not go to a happy ending. It is definitely one in which the course of true love "never did run smooth." If you enjoy light, romantic fiction you might want to join the many who have read this title.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the e-galley. The opinions are my own.

I absolutely adored this book. I like my romances to be full of longing and angst and ONE DAY IN DECEMBER gave me exactly that. I laughed and cried in equal measure and immediately ran out to preorder the paperback finished copy.

Thank you so much for letting me read.

Do you believe in love at first sight? One Day in December Laurie and Jack’s eyes meet while she’s on the bus. And it’s that moment that send her on a hunt to find Jack. And it’s that moment that changes the course of their lives. While I’m skeptical of love at first sight, I could relate to the hopeful searching of Laurie and her defeat when she meets him, as her best friend Sarah’s boyfriend. As the years progress, the question lingers what if things had been different.

The reader needs to know a couple things going in. This isn’t necessarily a Christmas story, a few least not in the typical Hallmark movie style. There is death, defeat, and regret. I ended up crying over most of the last half of this book. Something about their story and Laurie’s struggles connected deep within me. It’s not a perfect story. In some ways I wish Laurie could have just moved on and let Jack go. But it has been a long time since a book has made me cry this much. And it caused me to reflect on my own regrets and what-ifs. So for that reason I am giving it 5 stars. Beautifully written. Compelling story.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book

This book was amazing. It was Sleepless in Seattle meets Bridgette Jones and a hint of Love Actually. I devoured it!

I adored this book! It was a an adorable but intense romantic ride. It read very much like a chick flick movie which I loved and I also loved how it spanned over 10 years.
Could not put it down for one second.

Thanks to NetGalley and Crown Publishing for the free review copy of this book. All opinions are my own,

Oh what a sweet, happy, charming love story! This was a quick and easy read. Totally indulgent in all the best ways, a wonderful book to lose yourself in for a couple of days, especially during the holiday season (although it can truly be enjoyed anytime of year, it's not winter-dependent)!

On her way home from work one cold, dark December day, Laurie locks eyes with a boy at the bus stop, and there's an immediate spark between them. Unfortunately, Laurie doesn't get off the bus in time, and the boy doesn't get on. But Laurie can't stop thinking about him, and spends the next year looking for him. She finally meets him again...and he's her best friend's new boyfriend ! The luck! The two eventually establish a close friendship, but what does that initial spark mean, and will it ever amount to anything?

This book is told from both Laurie's and Jack's POVs, and spans many years. There's a surprising amount of depth - I felt genuine sadness for Laurie's situation and heartache. There's also lots of happiness and hope. I pretty much assumed it would have a happy ending, but I didn't know how it would get there, so kudos to the author for maintaining the suspense!

I definitely recommend this sweet love story, The writing is wonderful, the characters are deep and real, and the London setting is delightful.
