Quinn is book 12 in the Vampires in America series. I have been a huge fan of this series for many years, so it pains me to give this book such a low rating. I honestly didn't like it at all. I found the first 70% of this book very boring and the romance totally lacking. I thought Eve was TSTL most of the time and besides a couple of hook ups in the beginning they spent most of the book not a couple and they rarely spoke. So when they finally were together I really didn't care. I didn't feel any connection between Quinn and Eve and it annoyed me that he was willing to let her go at one point. Before I end this review I want to make clear that this is my opinion of this book and it's characters. I love Ms. Reynolds writing and I love this series and although this one didn't work for me I will definitely read the next book in this series.

With the support of the American vampires it starts, but there's a complication in the form of a beautiful redhead who hates vampires. I love the Vampires in America series. I adore almost anything D.B. Reynolds writes, but this one while entertaining was not as good for me as past books. The reason this was only a 3 star read for me was because I didn't feel the love. Quinn and Eve had very little time together and their relationship was very superficial. I didn't feel a connection or a bond, because there was no real build up, no real time spent together. Just some lust and a few hook up and then I love yous at the end. Now while the relationship felt lacking, Quinn and Eve individually were very likable.
I loved Quinn he was almost perfect. The only thing he did that made me lose a little love for him was when he fed from another women. See I could have forgave that, but later he went to that same woman planning on feeding and having sex with her. Eve caught him and was like WTF and he was like I'm a vamp I need to feed and have sex and we aren't together. Even though they had been sleeping together. Then he turned with the other woman and walked away. Of course he doesn't touch the other woman because Eve stopped him and let him feed from her instead. The problem was that I didn't like him even thinking about having sex with another woman when he and the heroine had already been together. Even if they were not a couple yet. I still loved Quinn and that was the only time in my eyes he wasn't awesome. Eve on the other hand was likable but sometimes came off really childish. She let her mother treat her like poo. She would put herself in dangerous situations and was so closed minded about vampires that it came off immature. I did find her sassy, and brave. But I would have liked it better if she would have told her mom off or something.
The action in the book was good, the plot too. I loved Quinn's vampire power. The last boss battle was good. I just really wished A) there would have been more romance and B) I would have like some Raphel and Cyn. They are my favorite! Now even thought I didn't like this book as much as others I still enjoyed it. I still love this series and plan on reading the next book as soon as it comes out!

Eve had seen her brother brutally murdered by vampires and she vowed that day she would get justice or revenge for her brother's murder. She finds herself going out at night and killing vampires. She's hunting down bad vampires and getting rid of them.

Quinn had plans of becoming Lord of Ireland and he was willing to do whatever it takes in order to get what he wanted. So when he notices Eve going into an alley with two bad looking vampires, his first instinct is to leave her be but he changes his mind and goes to make sure she's alright only to find that she can take care of herself.

I found the first half of the book pretty slow but things do pick up a bit after that and we find Quinn trying to take over another vampire's territory and criminal business. The battle that happens between these two vampires is crazy and I would say blood filled but when vampires die they turn to dust so it's dust filled. But I did struggle to finish this book because most of the story just didn't move along at a fast pace and I found myself a bit bored with the story and the romance that I had hoped would bloom between these two.

While there was quite a bit of sex happening between Eve and Quinn, it was just sex. I didn't really feel a connection between these two, no real romance or deep feelings until the end of the book and even then it was meh at best.

I've only read a few of the books in this series and while I liked one alright, the others just haven't been to my liking. I find this book to be too dark, too gruesome for my tastes. This series is categorizes as paranormal romance and to me the romance should be at the forefront of the story but I really didn't find that to be the case with this book. To me the romance takes a backseat to the danger, gore and criminal elements of this world. If this had been a horror novel I wouldn't have had a problem with these elements but it's not and that was a problem for me. I mean the book starts right off with a dead guy and a woman in shock from the horror-fest she just witnessed.

I absolutely hated Eve's mother and was actually hoping some bad vampire might eat her for dinner, but then I'd hate to see the evil thing she would turn out to be if she were turned into a vampire.

If you like your vampires to be likable, romantic and have a conscious then this is not the book you're looking for. Most of these vampires are intimidating, blood thirsty monsters right out of your worst nightmare. Although a few of them are likable, they are few throughout this story.

This book was slow to start and only picked up a little towards the middle and end. If you're already a fan of the series you might like this book but I can't recommend it.

I give this book 2 out of 5 stars.

Quinn is the continuation of the storyline of Raphael and the American vampires moving to take over Europe. Ireland is the foothold to begin that coup, and Quinn Kavanaugh, an Irish American vampire, is tasked with overthrowing the current Lord of Ireland. Each book in the series, while continuing the vampire politics arc, focuses on a single couple. This one features Quinn and Eve.

While the book is important in the overall series storyline, I found it to be not as engaging as most others in what usually is a favorite series for me. Eve was not particularly likable, frequently acting in impulsive and downright stupid ways, both in her vampire hunter quest and in her insisting on accompanying Quinn in dangerous situations. (Though, contrary to her claims, if she actually could run and fight in stiletto heels, she does have a superpower.) Quinn, for his part, was not as distinct a character as most, with only hints of his past and kind of a wishy-washy approach to accepting the illegal businesses he was taking over.

But what really fell short for me was the relationship itself. Quinn and Eve jumped into bed pretty quickly and, aside from a mutual physical attraction and hot sex, I saw little draw between them beyond the physical. Quinn inexplicably assented to her joining them in dangerous circumstances despite the fact that she’d shown herself to be more lucky than skilled in her vampire hunting ventures. She should not have inspired much respect or trust based on her actions. Then, rather suddenly, the pair went from lust to love towards the end of the book, though I never saw any basis for such a relationship to grow.

While the story was a bit of a disappointment compared with most in the series, it still was enjoyable and it hasn’t diminished my enthusiasm for Vampires in America (and now Europe). Next...Scotland.

I received a copy of this e-book and am voluntarily leaving an honest opinion.

Quinn has returned home to Ireland after being in America for many years. It is time to take what is his, to become the Lord of Ireland. Of course the current Lord is not going to agree!

Five years ago, Eve was to meet with her brother and when she got to him it was to see 2 vampires kill him. After that, she became a vampire hunter and swore to pay back the ones who killed her brother.

Quinn and Eve meet when she is out hunting and he scoping the area in preparation of his takeover.
He decides to walk her home since there is danger and leaves her with a kiss...what a kiss!

As Quinn goes about his quest to takeover, he runs into Eve several times and they soon begin a relationship. Though it is basically a sexual relationship they both know there is something else between them. Oh, she doesn't know he's a vampire...

Eve learns he is a Vampire and it is not a pretty picture, she takes out all the pent up anger and quilt she has over her brother's death out on Quinn, calling him a monster, a murderer, etc.

Will Eve ever accept Quinn or will she even survive her vampire hunting?

This book didn't grab me right away but it soon did and I thought it was a very good book!
Quinn is a pretty awesome guy; level headed, smart and can be very deadly. He has to work carefully toward his goal and has a great team behind him.

I liked the way he dealt with Eve, supporting her grief and the fact that it wasn't her fault. He takes it further than that though and really explains her what she is doing when killing random vampires.

In the end, Eve has to decide to basically grow up and face reality or lose the man she loves.

I really enjoyed this story!

While this book can stand on it's own, I wish I had read the previous books in the series. I think I would have had a deeper understanding of the vampire world the author has created. Ms Reynold's vampire world is a new take from others I have read. The fact that some vampires are little more than human is interesting. I'm also interested why there are so few female vampires which I'm assuming is covered in previous books of the series. I liked the book but Eve's persistent almost pathological insistence on making bad decisions was annoying. I love strong female characters, but blindly, willfully stubborn does not equate strong.

I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed in Quinn's book. It was good but lacking in the romance department. One of my biggest draws to vampire books is the mate aspect to the story. You do get that, but it's muted by Quinn's destiny to become a vampire Lord.

We get to see how Quinn and his cousin Garret are turned and part of the journey to present time where he is taking over his own territory for the first time. Right from the start he meets Eve and is instantly intrigued by her, but for most of the book he behaves as if he could take her or leave her despite feeling a connection to her.

Eve is also instantly drawn to Quinn but she also doesn't know he is a vampire. Ever since her brother was killed by two vampires, she has spent the past 5 years hunting his killers and taking out any who she feels deserves to die.

I don't want you to think I didn't enjoy this book, because I did. I just wanted so much more between Quinn and Eve. It didn't meet my "fated mates" desire in this book. I will keep reading this series, I just hope the author will give a bit more focus on the couple in the next book. ARC provided by NetGalley.

Oh how I wanted to give this latest Vampires in America book 4 stars BUT I had problems with the end of the book and a couple of other instances of puzzlement !!
The book follows on from Raphael's attack in France ..........which was partly to disguise Quinn's entry to Ireland .

Determined to become Lord of Ireland as soon as possible Quinn starts to take over Sorely's Drug operations ...........knowing that the Irish Lord would not be able to ignore him .
He observes Eve Connelly , a human , following 2 vampires .........Why? He is even more surprised to find her alive - she has taken them both out ?
Attracted to her he ensures her safety whilst accelerating his plans to take over Ireland vampires .
The sex scenes are perfunctory at best with none of the feeling that previous books have engendered between the vampire Lords and their Consorts
Eve is a wannabe Buffy who does not realise for quite sometime that Quinn is a vampire .....but once his secret is out she just rolls over and goes along with him ......WHY? she suposedly hates all vampires blaming them for the death of her brother.
My other problem with Eve is she can recognise vampires in the street but does not realise that she is surounded by them in the pub ...........????
She is a poor consort for a vampire Lord when compared to the others in the series .

The other problem with this book is its ending ..... during the Challenge Sorely escapes with his top men .......chased by Quinn , Eve etc . When Sorely is cornered he is on his own .........where are his men ?
The book then ends leaving me with many questions .

I will certainly read the next book in this series and hope that this one is blip as I have loved them todate .

With this book, the war in Europe has truly begun after Raphael had made his forays to France since the last incursion by the Eurovamps. The Americans will no longer tolerate the Eurovamps trying to force their way into ruling America. Book #12 in the VIA series, QUINN is set in Ireland which has become the new front line in the battle for supremacy. Quinn was born in Ireland, but grew up in America so in effect, he is the melding of both cultures. Playing the long vampire game, Quinn with Raphael and Lucas’s help, returns to Ireland to oust the evil and very criminal ruler Lord Sorley. As he sets about establishing himself in Dublin and Howth on Sorley’s turf, Quinn runs into a women bent on the destruction of vampires. Her brother had been involved with them in some underworld activities until they took him out. So revenge has become Eve’s life as well as dealing with a difficult relationship with her mother.

Much of this book focuses on Quinn getting to know the lay of the land and establishing himself as a new power. His relationship with Eve starts out and stays very prickly as she is as stubborn and fiery as her red hair would suggest. To Eve, vampires are the epitome of evil and like many vigilantes, she has only a narrow focus. Sleeping with the enemy takes on a whole new meaning for her so that Eve has to face some very difficult facts if she wants to be with Quinn.

Quinn Kavanagh has the usual vampire arrogance as he is always trying to leave the little woman at home and out of the fight, but Eve has other ideas. While it’s true the vampires have superior strength and special powers, they always tend to underestimate the pesky humans. As a couple, Eve and Quinn seem to have a lot more of the rough than the smooth than some of the others in this series. It will be interesting to see how things progress in the battle for essentially world dominance now that the terms of engagement have changed.

Four and a half
This series is simply fabulous and its characters always dig deep into my heart. Here we have Quinn arriving in Ireland and determined to become it's Vampire Lord. He has the blessing of Raphael and apparently the backing of Lucas but Quinn understands the nature of all Vampires and is not in the mood to share with anyone. No this cool, confident and dangerously cocky male is walking his own path to greatness.
Eve saw her brother brutally murdered by Vampires and has spent five years learning their ways whilst tracking down the killers. To her mindset all Vampires are monsters but if I'm honest she's no Buffy. What she is though is a prickly, stubborn woman who challenges Quinn and I suspect that's part of her appeal to him. Let's face it ordinarily he is faced with females throwing themselves at him so having to work for it obviously gets his motor running.
This does have a different pace to some books in the series with less action but when it kicks off Quinn is brutal. He has astounding Power and yes that does deserve a capital letter. I thought this was an insightful view of what it takes to step up and become a Vampire Lord. Yes there are hot and sexy times but this Irish/American charmer quite rightly dominates the story.
It loses half a mark because I didn't really care for Eve. She seemed pathetically naive about Vampires at times and if frank not as fresh or original as I'd hoped. Still I did truly enjoy this trip back into this world and look forward to more European Vampires making their mark.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a vampire story, and I must say this kept my interest throughout. This is the first book I have read in this series, and even though it has 11 books before it I didn’t feel as if I had missed out, although I’m sure I will be starting book 1 at a future date. I really enjoyed the premise behind the story, vampire lords taking over territories/countries. Quinn it seems is set to take over Ireland, and as he’s slowly taking control of certain areas he comes across Eve, sexy human vampire killer, intent on finding her brother’s killers. Although it took me a while to warm to Eve, I fell for Quinn and his band of merry vampires from the get-go, true vampire heroes. A light easy romance packed with humour and action. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.

He harbours a terrifying power, the will to fight for his homeland, and a refined veneer that masks the simmering brutality within; this is QUINN.

In D.B. Reynolds latest instalment of her dark and delicious Vampires in America, the war has escalated to the shores of Ireland; and as always, our beloved Raphael plays an integral part in plans to usurp the current Irish Vampire Lord.

Cultured and charming on the surface, Quinn may have been chosen, but he’s no ones patsy; wielding his Harvard education and a mere fraction of his innate power (despite his youth in Vampire years), have enabled Quinn to rise through the ranks of Vampire society and become a formidable ally to the American Vampire Lords in their quest for dominance.

But not even Raphael and his Vampire cohort are privy to the unique power that lies within Quinn; a source of devastation and horror when unleashed, that no Vampire or mortal can survive. So if ruling a territory requires strength, determination and power, Quinn has it all in spades and will do what’s necessary to secure his future and save Ireland from destruction.

For those readers who have staunchly followed this series from the very beginning, be patient; for Quinn is slower paced early on and doesn’t jump straight into fast-paced action and page turning suspense quite as soon as previous books in the series. There is significant background development, a lot of dialogue, and a formidable foe in the guise of a Vampire hunter. There’s an abundance of hot and heavy physical interaction too, but it’s raw and lustful, lacking the deep and meaningful passion I’ve come to associate with the previous stories. But like most of Ms Reynolds sexy, dangerous and impassioned Vamps, you can’t help but fall for this intellectual rogue with his American accent, and Irish heart. And while I don’t think this story has quite the impact of other books in the series, it’s still a damn good read.

Quinn can recognize his limits, "he met her eyes bluntly. “I did,” he said, then grinned. “I’m a strong man, Eve, but even I can’t keep it up all night long.” Quinn quickly learns how feisty his woman is, “now that’s just offensive. I’m neither a ******d, nor unholy. Stop that, damn it,” he snarled, when she tried to dig her nails into his arm. “I don’t want to put you out, but I will if I have to.” Often times Quinn has to teach his lady about patience, "...digging out a clean T-shirt, he pulled it over his head and turned to find Eve watching with an appreciative gleam in her eye. Pulling her in for a quick kiss, he said, “Hold that thought,” I liked it his book, I fell in love with Quinn.

Full review to be published online in late April.

QUINN is the latest book in D B Reynolds fantastic “Vampires in America” series. The story was overly talky and there was not a lot of action in the early parts. The flashbacks every other chapter stopped the storyline cold. It was interesting learning Quinn’s past and how he became a vampire; but it should have been done in one flashback, especially the Marcelina bits. Eve is supposed to be a vampire killer; but honestly, it was more a prop for the storyline, a device to keep them apart and at odds with each other. They were played up more as equals than in some of the other books; but there was not much in the way of what attracted them to each other besides great sex.

The last half of the book, however, was faster paced and much more enjoyable. The bloody and political intrigues of a Master Vampire taking over a territory was quite interesting. That raised the book up a star. Last thought, I know it’s been a tough time for Reynolds. She’s the second favorite author to lose her husband in the past year. As with Briggs, kudos to her for being able to even get the book finished.

So, it was a pretty good read overall…started slow, but the pace picked up considerably and it ended well. This was a self contained story with virtually all new characters, and did little to advance the over-arching plotline of the Vampire Wars. Hopefully that will be remedied in the next book.

We get Quinn! Now I will say I didn’t love this as much as previous ones, and it’s not that Quinn wasn’t great bc he is and I enjoyed his relationship with Garrick who is both cousin and lieutenant. Something about Eve just didn’t work for me , although I liked her better towards the end I just wasn’t a huge fan of hers and in turn I didn’t like the story as well. All in all this is what we expect out of this author and these stories, vampire wars, steaming sex, times of humor and hints of what’s to come. For lovers of the series you’ll definitely want to read this one, for those who haven’t start with Raphael(you won’t be sorry) and work your way here.

Quinn arrives in Ireland to challenge the current Lord. Having brought the war to the Europeans, Raphael hopes to put decent leaders in their place. Eve has been hunting vampires since she witnessed her brothers' death at their hands. Their chance meeting fuels their mutual attraction, but Eve doesn't know Quinn is vampire. As Quinn builds his allies, Lord Sorley anticipates the challenge to come without knowing the explosive magic Quinn holds as a master vampire. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC from Netgalley.
