An insightful guide to the intricacies and characteristics that develop vibrant leadership. I would maybe recommend this for someone who is just starting their leadership journey, or is early on in the journey for guidance on basic leadership principles.

I recommend this for anyone in leadership. Reagin shares biblical principles on how to be a life giving leader- and how it all starts with leading yourself. He combines anecdotes from his own experience. I love books with tangible examples I can apply and Reagin does a great job with this.

The Life Giving Leader has helped me grow as a leader and challenged me to think differently about how I lead my team. I love how it addresses the leaders need to grow personally and be filled spiritually in order to be able to give out to others. I will definitely be applying the things I learned with my team.

Title: The Life Giving Leader

Author: Tyler Reagin

This book is about leadership. Life giving leadership that not only shows what identity-based leadership is but the steps you will need to begin knowing and leading from your truest self. This book by Tyler Reagin shows and explains the types of leaders and makes you thinking about what is needed from a leader. This book is full of practical, insightful and easy to use leadership concepts for yourself, your team and who you lead with.

I loved: I loved this book. I had no issues streaming through the pages and was able to quickly grasp the concepts. This book wasn’t just ‘another’ leadership book, but was packed with biblical truth about leadership. As I was reading it, I wanted to pass on the information as quickly as I could to anyone who listen. This book is edifying and insightful.

As another reviewer put it “This book reveals many more ground-breaking truths. Get your highlighter ready, get your mind ready, and most importantly your heart ready to learn what it takes to truly become a life giving leader.”

I enjoyed the book and was very glad to review it. The publisher gave me a copy of the book via netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to give a positive review.
Overall, the book was: I give the book 4 stars out of 5.

Tyler Reagin presents with "The Life-Giving leader: Learning to Lead from Your Truest Self" an identity-based leadership approach. His book includes practical examples from his personal life and experience. It is important for him to show that this includes 1) leading from your truest self not in the way others expect it of me and 2) the basis for a life-giving leadership is being connected to the vine. It is the place from where we can overflow as leaders. One of the most important elements of live-giving leadership is the leader her- or himself. Furthermore, he states that life-giving leaders embraces their uniqueness.
In my opinion Reagin bases his book more on his personal experiences than on the Bible (there are few Bible-references). There is not exegesis of Bible texts that talk about leadership. The few Bible quotes are taken from the transliteration "The Message" instead from a translation that uses a thought-for-thought such as the New American Bible or the New Living Translation. He also presents statements such as "a life-giving leader knows that emotional intelligence plays a crucial role in communication", but he does not show how the leader knows this and he does not provide references to prove the statement. He also quotes or refers to "rightpath assessment", "360", "360 evaluation", "Catalyst", or an article by Daniel Goleman in the 1990s in the Harvard Business review without references which makes the book difficult to be used and hard to understand by readers from a Non-US-American background (such as I) and who do not have good internet access to research these terms and articles. I recommend this book to readers who want an easy read, but I do not recommend the book to anybody who is looking for an exegesis of biblical texts about leadership (e.g., by Apostle Paul).
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book really encourages you to be a great leader....a leader that lives ad leads out of your authentic self. Lots of great ideas for helping you determine what type of leader you currently are and how you can give life to the ones you lead, as you live out of a life that is filled with Jesus. You can't give out what you don't have! I believe that we all are leaders of someone....even if we aren't a boss, a teacher or a pastor. With that in mind, I think this is a great book for anyone to be able to glean some great ideas and to help you examine how you interact with others. I did find the last couple of chapters a little slow, but overall I enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it.

Have you ever worked for someone who leaves you drained or has you wondering if they are authentic? Chances are that person is not a life-giving leader. Tyler Reagin he’s outlined what it looks like to be a life giving leader in todays culture.

Through strong biblical insight and personal stories Tyler reveals to readers what it takes to walk into this role, and how to maintain it. The life-giving leader is one who gives health and creates an atmosphere of empowerment and confidence everywhere they go.

Within this book there is a great deal of time spent revealing the importance of identity based leadership, and over coming the false teaching that certain personalities are doomed to fail. As an introvert this is so empowering as it is often believed the extrovert is the stronger leader and introverts are better behind the scenes. Reagin reveals how God used his identity and personality to lead in many areas, and teaches how we are all unique for an incredible purpose.

If you are a pastor, charity leader, or involved in ministry in any capacity this is a book that should be considered a must read. Though not a leadership manual as we know it this book has more potential to influence leadership on any level than many others on book shelves today.

The Life giving leader is enjoyable and in-depth and will be welcome addition to your library.

**I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. These are my personal thoughts.
