4 Stars - I recommend if you enjoy contemporary Christmas fiction and stories of family dynamics and drama.

Due to the subject matter, at times this book was heavier than I wanted a Christmas book to be. There was a lot of PTSD for the characters, and a lot of insecurities due to their upbringing, etc. I had to take some breaks in between, but eventually it got more toward the current family drama and the holidays which was better. I could identify with each of the people in the book which was nice, and at times a little too close to home. Once they all got together for Christmas the warm fuzzy, and less isolating drama occurred and that was better for me. I loved the family dynamics and their struggles. About 3/4 the way through a little twist happened that stirred things up and I loved it. I also loved how the sisters opened up to one another and talked about their deep rooted fears and issues. It made me really emotional from time to time. While this had romance in it, it was much more of a family drama. I was surprised by how much I ended up liking it. It won't be my last Sarah Morgan book!

I really, really enjoyed this family story and have no hesitation in highly recommending it! The tragedy which led to Suzanne McBride adopting three sisters is still impacting on all of their lives twenty five years later. The three sisters rarely get together now, except for at Christmas. This year, however, things are going to be very different for them all as they discover that assumptions about each other can be so wrong and they all have their own secrets. The story explores events from the past, reveals how they have influenced the young women in such different ways and how they reconnect and learn more about each other, love, family and healing themselves in this festive, heartwarming family story.

Sarah Morgan is one of my ‘go to’ authors when I want a story with great characters who come to life in the pages of her story and it is easy for the reader to empathise with. Set in a picturesque Scottish village that can be cut off during heavy snow, the close knit, supportive community is where the girls were brought up and where everyone knows everyone else – which can be a mixed blessing at times! Whilst Posy lives there all year round, the return of her two older sisters signals the start of revelations, surprises and a new understanding of everyone in their family and of themselves.

This is a lovely festive, family read, whatever the time of year and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys stories exploring the interactions, expectations and intricacies of family life with plenty of surprises and love along the way.

I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

The Christmas Sisters offers a great reminder that we all have things in our past that help shape who we are today. The difference is the way each character chooses to both remember those events and deal with the way they affect the future. Sarah Morgan does an excellent job of creating insight into each sister's feelings, the reasons behind them, and the way those feelings affect personal relationships. This is an excellent, feel-good read.

Three sisters, Hannah, Bethany, and Posey’s parents died in a climbing accident right before Christmas. Suzanne, a close family friend takes the young girls in to raise as her own. Because Hannah was old enough to remember her parents she refuses to call Suzanne Mom but the other two girls do.
Twenty five years later, Suzanne is expecting all three girls and their families to her home in Scotland for Christmas, but things don’t turn out as she wished.
Hannah is a career driven woman who never celebrates the holidays. Bethany demands perfection of herself as a mother to her two daughters. When she’s offered a job working for the woman she worked for before family took up her time, she jumps at it, to the dismay of her husband. Posey, who does not remember her birth parents and thinks and talks about Suzanne and Stewart as her mother and father.
This is a lovely story of unconditional love and the healing of broken hearts at Christmas. Fair warning, you may need a handkerchief or two, but it’s all worth it in the end. A beautiful story and highly recommended.

Suzanne and Stewart adopted Hannah, Posy, and Beth when their parents were killed just before Christmas 25 years ago. The holiday always brings up old memories and unfortunately the trauma so every year they get together in Scotland (well, it is home, of course.). Hannah, the eldest, is the most untethered as she's travelled and worked around the world. Beth is the most grounded, as a stay at home mom; she really wants to go back to work but has some choices ahead. Posy is the youngest who hasn't quite grown up. All three are realistic and sympathetic and just perfect. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This is an old fashioned, heart warming read and even though it's got a Christmas theme of sorts, it doesn't matter when you read it.

Such a heartwarming read. Really loved this one. Here we have the story of three sisters who faced tragedy as young children. Each were affected differently and as adults they grew apart. In this book, due to certain events, they all decide to return home for Christmas in Scotland. They finally have a chance to heal some festering wounds from their childhood.

I really loved this. We get each sisters point of view as well as the mother. I think this was really effective as I was able to see things from their perspective.

As with all of her books, this was an easy fast read and perfect for the holidays.

The magic of Christmas and the enduring bond of family will bring three sisters home to heal, to remember, to bond and to look forward to the future. From the workaholic Hannah, to the stay-at home-mom, Beth to Posy, the one who stayed home to help out their adoptive parents, three sisters will come together in the snowy Highlands of Scotland, open their hearts and embrace the love and support they have always needed.

An emotionally taut tale of crisis, confusion, secrets and avoidance, THE CHRISTMAS SISTERS by Sarah Morgan is a heart-warming tale of coming to understand family, as a group and as individuals, to trust in their support and to accept oneself and the love of others.

A wonderful Holiday read to be savored as these characters become so very real, so fragile and not unlike people we may know. We can’t pick our family, but we can treasure each person for who they are and the unconditional love they give.

I enjoyed this book very much. It revolves around three sisters. They usually only get together once a year for the holidays. Because of a tragedy when they were children there are issues. They find it very hard to confide in and be there for each other. But this Christmas could be different and bring the three closer than they ever have been. A great holiday read.

The Christmas Sisters is a fabulous read. I loved the McBride Sisters, Hannah, Posy and Beth. And, of course, their adoptive parents, Suzanne and Steward. My favorite character would have to be Beth. As a stay at home mom, I definitely understood what she was going through. I honestly was not too cray about Hannah at first but the more I got to know her, the more she grew on me. I loved Posy and her side kick, Bonnie. So sweet. Suzanne and Stewart are two of the most admirable characters. Their bond, strength and courage is inspiring.
The Christmas Sisters is such a heartwarming story. One that involves the wonderful Christmas season that brings families together. Like all families, the McBrides are not perfect with their share of their own problems. But they all still love one another. It, also, of the Scottish Highlands. What more could this reader want?
The Christmas Sisters gets a well deserved five plus stars from me. I am adding other books by Sarah Morgan on my wish list.
Great read!
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

I own all of Sarah's books and she never disappoints. What a wonderful Christmas story!!

Hannah, Bethany and Posey have all lost their parents, at a young age, and Suzanne and Stewart decide to adopt the girls, with no hesitation.

Suzanne always wants to have the "perfect Christmas" for her daughter's. This Christmas is not going to go as planned.

All three sister's deal with the tragedy in their own ways and each have very individual lives. Posey continues to live in Scotland with her parents. She has a mind to begin travelling but is the one who is always there. Hannah, she never wants to talk about the past and is a career driven woman. She finds that she can't always plan everything in her life though and winds up returning to Scotland for Christmas earlier than expected. Bethany, the perfect wife and mother. She needs more to her life than these two things and wants to begin working again. It just happens to be that she would be working with a previous employer and things weren't so great at that time either. She becomes fed-up with her husband Jason and also returns to Scotland earlier than planned, without her family.

Suzanne just wants a perfect Christmas because it's the time of the year that truly needs to be special for her family, due to the tragedy that had happened many years ago. She loves her children and wants nothing but happiness for them. She is truly an amazing character.

This story does have it's serious side due to the tragedy that had happened but their is love, laughter and romance all wrapped up also. I laughed so hard when one male character had to describe how his life had been without his wife (I don't want to give it away). I'm pretty sure that my family thought I was losing my mind a bit, but it was so well written and hilarious, I couldn't stop laughing.

I enjoyed this story of the women who are learning that not everything can be planned out in life, that their is room for forgiveness and always room for pure and unconditional love.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for this ARC and all opinions are of my own. I always look forward to Sarah's books!!

Morgan yet again tugs at the heartstrings with The Christmas Sisters. This is a story fraught with guilt and lingering trauma from an accident 25 years ago which caused three sisters to be taken in by a family friend. Three sisters with disparate personalities try to face adulthood with strings from their past. Christmas in the small town in Scotland is the one event that brings them together, be grudgingly not to upset the apple cart. Well, all bets are off and most of the characters are in crisis this year. The stay-at-home mom who feels unappreciated and wants to go back to work, the career-driven sister who finds herself pregnant and does not know what to do, and the youngest, who feels like she cannot leave her adopted parents and has extreme wanderlust. This was an extremely satisfying read if you stick with the book beyond the first few chapters.

The Christmas Sisters by Sarah Morgan Book Review
Scotland at Christmas time, 3 sisters brought together & each one in a crisis. Throw in a cafe that hosts a knitting night & baked goods to die for. Oh, I'm not finished yet! There's also, a sleigh ride with a pony, mountain climbers, secrets, career changes & adventure. In my best Britney Spears vice, Gimme Gimme More.

A Scottish Family Christmas
First thing, I'm in love with the McBride family. Like, serious love here folks. I hope there's room at their Scotland home because I am moving in. I will help Posy water the Christmas tree named Eric, help Suzanne cover shifts in the cafe & I'll make sure Stewart has plenty of single malt scotch on hand at all times!

It's The Most Stressful Time of the Year
We know all families have their issues, right? Well, the McBride family survived a horrific event. Just because they survived it, doesn't mean they are not affected by the fallout. Every Christmas, feelings, hurt, anguish & despair come rolling in waves. Each member of the McBride family deals with his or her grief in a different way. But, when you stick them all in a snowed-in house during the most festive (and the most stressful) time of year, feelings float to the surface.

Sisterly Love
I do not have sisters, so I am forever in search of sisterhood type of stories. I love the dynamic between Posy, Hannah & Beth. When I read the synopsis for The Christmas Sisters, I knew the sisters were adopted. What I didn't realize is they all share the same biological mother & father. This lends itself to creating a different type of relationship between the sisters and their adoptive parents. I love how Sarah Morgan explores the delicate nature of this type of parent-child relationship.

THE VERDICT
I am Really Into This book! The Christmas Sisters leaves me feeling warm inside. Sarah Morgan weaves a sweet & satisfying tale about love, families & healing nestled during Christmas in Scotland. What more could you want? Oh, I know; more holiday books! Please give me your favorite holiday reads!

Special thanks to Sarah Morgan,  Harlequin & NetGalley for providing our copy in exchange for an honest & fair review.

Three sisters, adopted at a young age when their parents perished in a climbing accident, reunite to celebrate Christmas in the Scottish Highlands – and no one is more excited than their parents, Suzanne and Stewart.

Hannah hasn’t been around for a family Christmas in a few years. Her fast-paced job has kept her occupied. That’s still the case but she also has a secret. Beth is mother to two young children. She wants to return to work and try to recapture some of the person she’d been before kids. Her husband is less than thrilled with the idea. Posy, the sister who stayed in Scotland to work in the family business, has met someone who makes her yearn for a bigger life – one that would take her away from home.

As the three sisters work through their challenges will their parents get the family Christmas they hoped for? I enjoyed finding out and recommend to fans of Sarah Morgan and women’s fiction. Who can resist a Scottish setting at Christmas time? Not this reader!

The Christmas Sisters by Sarah Morgan is a lot different than her previous novels. This one is deeper than the others. It has stories from three sisters each with their own issues. Their issues stem from their parents' death and from various other things in their lives. They each struggle with what they want to do, what they should do, and what they actually end up doing. I felt sympathy immediately for these women. They are full grown and still coming to terms with their loss. Love, family, and hope were common themes that I found on these pages. It was a bit inspiring to watch them each battle their demons and come to terms with their grief. Heartbreaking but hopeful, Sarah Morgan created a realistic novel. I found myself sounded by her characters and enjoying as they grew emotionally and mentally. Unconditional love was on every page. The sacrifices that the adoptive mom made blew me away. There was so much attached to this story. It wasn't like most novels. This one gripped a hold of me and didn't let go...

This was a sweet book focusing on 3 sisters with different lives and how their family relationships work together. A little heavier than most of Sarah Morgan's other series titles, but just as satisfying.

A feel good book that makes you cry on one page and laugh out loud on the next. Wonderfully written. Very warming.

The McBride sisters couldn’t be more different: analytical and career-driven Hannah, former beauty marketing/PR representative turned full-time mom Beth, and outdoor-loving Posey, helping run her parents’ business. The things that they share in common: a tragic and traumatic past that led to their adoption by Suzanne and Stewart when Hannah was 8 years old, and a predilection for anxiety. The sisters and Suzanne serve as narrators in this holiday romance, balancing the cheer you’d expect from a novel of this genre with realistic family dynamics.

I expected a light, breezy story that I could float in and out of, waiting for my computer to load, water to boil, etc. What I got was a story that I couldn’t put down. While each of the narrators annoyed me at one point in her own way, and I wanted them all to sit down and talk to each other, they all seemed human and I was rooting for them throughout the story. The supporting cast was there, mostly filling archetypal roles: “good guy,” “evil boss,” “understanding father,” “preschool age daughter,” “clueless father.” Necessary to the story, but the plot action is centered firmly on the sisters, their internal struggles, their relationships with each other, and their views on the state of their romantic lives.

Final verdict: The Christmas Sisters is on my to-acquire list, and will be recommended to anyone who is looking for a holiday story with a little more depth than an average made-for-tv movie.

A sweet and heartwarming story that managed to bring out a few tears. Nicely rounded characters and a couple of minor twists that were well executed. Romance convincing.

Well this book gave me a much needed Christmas in July! What a good way to spend a hot day reading a story set in much cooler times. This is a wonderful and heartwarming story about 3 sisters, Hannah, Bethany and Posey, and the tragedy that changed their lives forever so many years earlier. It's about love and family and everything that goes along with that. It's about learning to forgive and move on and form new beginnings with each other. It's amazing how the author is able to keep 3 storylines going and give us so much of each one. I love that!! I also really love Suzanne! What she did for those girls is beyond special. She really gave the whole family is not always blood dynamic a new meaning. The 3 sisters are so different yet all connected by their past. I really enjoyed it!!
