Emma has exiled herself to her late grandmother's farm after quitting her job after her former boss and lover had thrown her under the bus for their romance. He had let his boss talk about her and insinuated that her promotion was due to their affair.

Shep Blackshaw likes the look of Emma, the new waitress at the Kinky Spur. He's not sure what the city girl is doing in Colorado or how long she's staying at her grandmother's farm, but he knows he wants to get to know her better and once he does, he doesn't want her leave.

The characters in this book are well written and the sparks between them jump off the page. Both Shep and Emma are complex characters and both are dealing with issues that affect more than just themselves.

M/F Romance

Emma is hurting after giving her heart to someone she thought was in a relationship with her that was equal. After learning that it wasn't equal, or on the same level that she thought it was, she was heartbroken. Throw that on top of the fact that her grandmother has passed away and she's kind of a mess. Emotionally, she is jumbled. She is a city girl living on a ranch and trying to take care of animals, which she doesn't really know how to do. When she is working at the local bar, she is able to put on a brave face and interact with the locals.

When Shep walks in and sees Emma, he knows that despite everything that's on his plate, he wants to put Emma on there too. His father has left him kind of a mess and it's up to him and his brothers to figure out whether or not the business that has been in their family for a while is worth saving or if they should sell and get out.

Shep and Emma have sparks that mesh well together. They intrigue each other and perplex each other in equal measure. While their communication isn't stellar, it helps create the complexities in the story. Both have things that they need to work through, but it's only together that they will become their best versions of themselves.

This is the first book in a new series, and I have no doubt that there are more great stories to come. We are immersed in the Colorado cowboy scene from the very beginning, and it took no time at all to be centred in the location, with the key protagonists, and keen to learn more.

Emma has had her world turned upside down and as we learn how and why, it is clear that she had a lucky break that she had to come to her Gram’s farm and regroup. She is a young woman who has worked so hard for her ambitions that she has rather forgotten the beauty of the simple things, and being back where she spent her summer holidays is teaching her again. Irrespective of the wonderful romance, I found this hiatus in her rushing around to be very well written, and even when Jake looks to be about to ruin everything, she proves that she has learned the lessons about trust, love, and home.

Shep is pretty much the perfect man – certainly for Emma – and whilst he is reluctant to admit that she is his perfect woman, even to himself, he also behaves with great charm and honesty. The connection that they make is strong and true – and comes from their battered hearts.

I enjoyed the business elements, although it seemed difficult to believe that they were all so oblivious of the state of the farm business, but I enjoyed how it was turned around, and had no doubt that Emma's skills would be engaged in the revival. The two other brothers, who will no doubt get their chance at love, are very different to Shep, so it is going to be fun watching them fall... especially Nash, as he needs bringing down a peg or two!

If you enjoy hot, sexy cowboy romances, then this will be just your thing. If you have not tried one before, then this would be a good place to start!

So there are books that I start to read then get to a point in the book that I either don't like a character or a spot in the book and then put the book down read other ones and come back to the original book, this was one of the books. The reason I put the book down at 40% into the book was for two reasons. One reason was I found Emma to be a very whinny person and I really want to tell her suck it up buttercup as she was getting annoying. The second reason was because it hit the part where they were doing some BDSM which is fine for some people but I just didn't want to read about it. Now weeks later when I picked the book up to finish I was pleasantly surprised. There really wasn't any of the typical BDSM so the sex scenes were not bad to read. I still thought Emma was a whinny person, she grew on me a little but not much. Shep saved this whole book and I still think he could do better then Emma. But overall after finishing this book I did like it and would the next two in the series for Chase and Nash.

*I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.*

Let me tell ya’ll something …. Stacey Kennedy writes exceptional sexy-sexy #TRUTH I can count on one hand with fingers remaining the number of authors that hit this particular mark dead on like a bullseye EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. You know what else she is exceptional at? … She wraps your heart around her characters and makes you feel so damn much! GAH

Emma and Shep stole my heart from page one. And don’t get me started on Bentley *happy sigh* The story doesn’t start off really smooth, it felt off to me at times, but it quickly turned to greatness. This is not a lengthy courtship story. It’s a sexually driven inta-lust/love connection and it works for these characters very well. It’s exactly what both Emma and Shep needed in their lives. So kudos to the author for recognizing that and making sure she delivered.

I am beyond excited to get my hands on more Blackshaw men and the women who will eventually tame them :) This is going to be another outstanding series by an author you can really count on to hit the marks!

Dirty-Talking Cowboy
A Kinky Spurs Novel Book #1
Release Date: June 5, 2018
Review copy provided by the publisher

Sweet baby Jesus, I love me some hot cowboy romance novels! I was excited to be given an ARC of this book. Stacey Kennedy never disappoints...and did I mention the hot cowboy part?

Emma is nursing a broken heart. She lost her beloved grandmother and the man she has been seeing for the past year shattered her.

Shep is all kinds of yumminess! He's a cowboy through and through. From the moment Emma moved to River Rock Colorado, he's wanted her.

I fell hard for Shep. He's got that cowboy swagger that I adore, but he's not cocky. He's just a really nice guy with a filthy mouth that would make most women drop their panties!

The chemistry is off the wall with these two. Seriously, the damn pages sizzled every time they hit the sheets...or the wall.

I loved how vulnerable Emma was. She didn't make it a secret that part of her heart still cared deeply for her ex. I liked how conflicted she felt. It made the whole situation feel more realistic.

Shep works hard at earning her trust while trying to keep his families business open. He's being pulled in many directions, but his sense of loyalty was very admirable. I can't say it enough, I really loved this hero!

The story was fast paced, and made me want to ignore everyone around me. I found myself laughing at the witty banter between Shep and his brothers, Chase and Nash.

Speaking of Chase and Nash...there's going to be more sexy cowboy books from this amazing author! I seriously can't wait for Nash to be brought to his knees. Now there's a man who is crazy cocky!

This book is a fantastic start to what promises to be a decadently delicious series!

Dirty-Talking Cowboy (Kinky Spurs, #1)
by Stacey Kennedy

I was given this arc via NetGalley.
Let me preface this review by saying this. I was definitely not the right audience for this book. So, I will try to be fair in the review.

As always, I love cowboy reads. However, I seesawed back and forth on this one. The writing the plot the scene all were good. What I did not like is the back and forth of the heroine regarding her ex as well as the hero with talk that did not really fit coming from him. Once you bypass those areas , the book deserves a chance. The writer is obviously talented and obviously one I will keep my own eyes open for. The writing itself is creative and imaginative and captures the reader from the start. Too bad this was just outside of my enjoyment line. I write this review of my own opinion freely and willingly. I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Stacey Kennedy is one of my favorite authors and I enjoyed this book being set on a ranch. Emma’s grams passed away and she inherited her house and animals in Colorado. Emma had suffered some personal problems with her boyfriend/boss when he didn’t announce they were together. It also looked like her promotion was because they were sleeping together, not based on her merits. Emma left her home and job in NYC for River Rock, CO where she started working in a bar, the Kinky Spur. She meets Shep Blackshaw and inially has trouble trusting him. As the story progresses, Shep helps Emma learn how to care for the animals as well as becoming important to each other. They also discover they enjoy their sexual escapades. Also, the Blackshaw patriarch has recently died and they’ve discovered they are nearly bankrupt and have to devise a plan. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the storyline as well as the characters. I look forward to the next book. Definitely another 5 star winning book.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I have to admit that this story surprised me. I thought this might be one note and I worried that I would not be engaged. I was wrong. This was a story that flowed from the beginning and had a continuous flow that left you wanting more.

Emma moves to her grandma's home after she learns she has passed away. The timing was perfect since she had recently broken up with her boyfriend. While nursing a broken heart, she meets her neighbor, Shep, and he's got eyes on her.

Emma is injured while trying to care for a horse on her farm. She discovers her and makes it his mission to get her back to health. She is beginning to have feelings for him as they spend more time together and is terrified of losing her heart to him since her broken heart is on the mend. Shep is also balancing his feelings for Emma and the current status of his family ranch. He has some big decision s to make that will have a huge impact on his future.

I liked this story and am looking forward to the next installment, the first book introduced us to many characters with enough interest to want more.

You will love reading this newest book from Stacey just as I have. Strong characters and a great story line. You won't be able to put it down once you start reading it. You will love reading Emma and Shep's story. Emma is trying to get over her heartbreak while inheriting a farm from her grandmother who recently pasted away. Shep is trying to save his fathers company and knows he shouldn't be distracting himself with a woman.

Characters I connected with and a story with plenty of heat

Book 1 of the new Kinky Spurs series, having read the author's previous Club Sin series, I was expecting a story with great characters and plenty of heat, and boy did she deliver! Emma's grief at the death of her Grams resonated deeply with me as I was extremely close to my own grandmother. Plus, I've started over a time or two in my life, so I just really felt a strong connection to her. I loved Shep, too. He was a perfect alpha without being overbearing: controlling, protective, caring and determined to give Emma the space she needed to get over her ex and learn to trust again without giving up on her.

Loved the set up here as well. With Shep dealing with his grief in the wake of his father's death, as well as all the additional (and unwanted) responsibility for dealing with his family's large cattle business and his father's estate, there were parallels to Emma's situation, which gave them a lot in common. The subplot with Bentley the horse made for a perfect way to drive the story forward and help Emma heal and grow at the same time. Shep's brothers were both interesting characters as well, and I can't wait to get their stories. In fact, there wasn't a thing about this story I didn't love.

Wonderful characters I connected with and a story with plenty of heat and some mild kink helped make for a great read for me, and my favorite book by this author to-date. 5+ stars

I would round this up to 3.5 stars. I was a little unsure in the beginning but the more I read it, the more I enjoyed it. I think I liked Shep though more than Emma. He was a strong hero who knew what he wanted and she didn't.

Emma Monroe has returned to her hometown after the death of her grandmother. As she tries to get into the rhythm of life on her grandmother's farm full of abused animals and work part time at a local bar, the last thing she needs is a relationship.

Shep is a cowboy who is trying to save his father's farm. When he meets Emma, sparks fly. Will they be able to stay apart so they can do what they need to do to save their respective farms? Should they deny the fire between them? This very enjoyable novel will keep you guessing until the end!

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this novel for review.

Emma is back in Colorado after her grandmother passes away and leaves her the farm. She is trying to save his father’s ranch from foreclosure. Their chemistry is steamy but neither is looking for a relationship, can they keep it just casual? This is a fast-paced read with great characters and a lot of steam. I really liked it!

3.5 stars

Fun story that shows that sexual attraction CAN lead to more. Emma and Shep both fight the relationship and the attraction but their feelings win out in the end.

How could I not have picked this to read with a title like this? I couldn't, right!!! I'm always looking for a good cowboy story to read and this one fit the bill.

I've only read a few books by Stacey Kennedy but I enjoyed what I read so when this new series came up I knew I had to try it and I'm so glad that I did. I really enjoyed it.

The characters are wonderful and you want to know more about them and their lives. Something I want in my romance. Nothing worse then unlikable characters. Okay, it's alright to not like a character that's not the main characters, those you need to like.

My heart melts for animals so what her grandma did for animals made me tear up. A place for them to go after life treated them so badly. Kudos to her.

You are really going to enjoy Emma and Shep together. They work even if they don't realize it right away. I was fun watching them figure it out.

Dirty-Talking Cowboy has everything I like in my romance, good characters, tons of hot romance and big hearts. It's also well-written and makes you want more of this group. Did I mention that Shep has brothers? This is the perfect time read Dirty-Talking Cowboy with it being hot out no one will notice when you sweat!

With so much going on in her life right now Emma is not looking for love but one night and one cowboy changes everything. When she meets Shep her feelings start to change, could this cowboy be what she needs to move on and find a better future or will the past hold her back?

I enjoyed Shep and Emma's story. Love and trust are big issues in this book. Emotions are high and the chemistry is strong. Not only do the main characters have their say but the secondary ones make themselves known as well. It was nice to see the relationship grow into something more between Shep and Emma. as the two figure out just what they want life throws in a curveball. It was nice to see Emma and Shep find their way against the odds. The author does a nice job of bringing these characters and their world to life making this a good addition to this series.

Emma is on a big crossroad in her life, her grandmother dies and she inherits her farm with wounded animals, her career is under question and she is left heartbroken. Until she finds all the answers she works in a Kinky Spurs as a bartender. And there she met him Shep sexy as sin cowboy which makes her blood boil and speeds her heartbeat. But she doesn't want another mistake but an accident with horse draws them together. Shep is letting for a long time women in his life. In a way, they heal each other but all lover comes back and who will Emma choose? I liked the story and both characters were great and well developed. Also, the chemistry was hot and explosive. And as we see this book great start of the series, two remaining brothers must also fall in love.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly.
