While this book did live up to its title, I just got a bit hung up on Emma and he inability to move past Jake. Jake is gone and she must move on, however it seemed to take forever for her to realize this. Shep is treating her as gentle as the broken horse that is out in the barn. I'm sure he wanted Emma to move forward with her life too. Shep might have fallen for Emma quickly but he knew that he needed to go slow and that was the only drawback to this book. Kinky Spurs sounds like such a fun bar and the fun way Shep roped Emma into seeing if the sparks would fly between them was flirty and hot. |

The story flowed beautifully that I just ate up every page as quickly as I could. The attraction and sparks between the characters where just jumped off the pages right at me while I read their story, their banter was also spot on and made for a extremely entertaining read. It was captivating and interesting that I just didn’t want this book to end. I would absolutely recommend this book to all book lovers out there |
I love me a dirty talking cowboy! I mean, who doesn't, amirite? Anywho, Shep is definitely a dirty talker. But he's also extremely sweet and mature and alpha and just a great guy! He has some of the best lines while he is trying to handle Bentley. Well and Emma. But Emma and Shep's relationship is HOT to begin with, from page 1 you just feel the heat and the tension and the flirting just bursting through their conversations. I think that Emma and Shep needed each other. While I don't think women need "handling" per se, I think Emma needed the quiet strength and gentle determination (and ardent at times!) to help her get over what drove her to River Rock. The Blackshaw family is a fun one and I absolutely love their dynamic! Shep is the responsible one while Nash and Chase are less so. I know they're going to have some interesting stories, just based on the peeks into their lives in this story! ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. |
DIRTY-TALKING COWBOY is the first book in Stacey Kennedy's Kinky Spurs series. I love this book! There are spicy scenes galore in DIRTY- TALKING COWBOY, but this book has a lot more to rave about. What starts out as an erotic tale of two strangers locking eyes across a crowded bar, turns into a multilayered and fascinating character-driven romance with a small-town feel. Family and trust are two major themes in DIRTY-TALKING COWBOY, and Stacey Kennedy weaves both into an enjoyable story. Emma Monroe is taking a hiatus from her big city, corporate lifestyle. Things colossally take a wrong turn for her when the man she thought she loved betrayed her. Although the betrayal didn't involve any cheating, the consequences were just as devastating and have left Emma questioning everything, especially her own judgment. While emotionally fragile in some ways, Emma is taking control of her life by taking care of her late grandmother's farm and working in the local bar, Kinky Spurs. The last thing Emma is looking for is a romantic relationship. Shep Blackshaw is a cowboy hottie and force of nature who provides the stability and affection that Emma needs most as she sorts through her recent upheaval. I love both characters, and the chemistry between them is off the charts. Stacey Kennedy is able to convey an emotional resonance along with a deeply erotic connection. DIRTY-TALKING COWBOY is one of the best contemporary romances I've read this year. Kennedy does a superb writing multifaceted, fully fleshed out characters with plenty of depth. There are no stock characters or predictable reactions in DIRTY-TALKING COWBOY. The side story involving Emma's adopted horse is a nice metaphor for the effort Shep takes to gain Emma's trust. The supporting characters, who include Shep's equally hot brothers and Emma's girlfriends, are interesting and I look forward to reading their stories. I can't wait for the next book in this series! |
A fun, sexy read that was highly engaging. Perfect when you're looking for a nice break from reality. |
I voluntarily read this title in exchange for a review. Let’s start that this isn’t kink in the BDSM way, but certainly is hot. It’s well written, the characters have depth and are believable. Always a good book when penned by this author |
Dirty, Sexy and Hot, book 1 in the Kinky Spurs series, Dirty Talking Cowboy is one delicious read. The first of three Blackshaw brothers; Shep is the true romantic, who know who’s heart he wants to win. Stacey Kennedy has a way with words that make you sink deep within the pages and barley coming up for air. This is a well written story with a great plot and characters. I can’t wait to read more about these brothers and how they find their forever loves. |
Emma Monroe has left her great job, her boyfriend, and the glamorous life of New York City and is now living in River Rock Colorado, and working part time as a bar tender at the kinky spurs bar. After finally meeting the sexy cowboy Shep Blackhshaw, things begin to heat up for her and between them. This becomes more apparent the next day when he saves her from a runaway horse and the dream she had she tells him in the ambulance. After being released from the hospital the heat between the two of them becomes hotter every day. Meanwhile Shep is dealing with issues from his father passing away and now running the ranch along with his two brothers. He also wants to get to know Emma better. The more time the two of them spend together she is becoming more confused in what she should. Weather to stay or move back to New York. The sex scenes between the two of them are hot and you want them to be together, when her ex shows up. What is she to do? Especially when Shep finds out and returns back to her ranch… What drama, let me tell you a very good story and one you most certainly want to read to find out what happens? A story with good bedroom and outdoor scenes along with good characters. A very good read. |
For being advertised as kinky, this book fell a little flat. Both the romance and the chemistry between Shep and Emma seemed a little unnatural and forced. It was a quick read. |
Hot sexy cowboy story. Emma is not looking for romance but along comes Shep. It's a kinky hot romance. Well-written and likable characters. |

A hot and sexy cowboy read. I love Dirty-Talking Cowboy. Shep sure lives up to a dirty talking kinky cowboy. I love how he is with his brothers Nash and Chase. Recovering the loss of their father is no easy feet when they find that he was hiding something from them. It takes a former city lover Emma to turn Shep's world upside down and brings life back into the Blackshaw's. Emma even though is at a turning point in her life when she inherits her grandma's farm grows a lot through out this quick read. I love how Shep and Emma burn up the sheets. Heck I wouldn't mind being roped by that sexy cowboy myself. This is a wonderful quick sexy read that will keep you turning the pages and fanning yourself. |
Stacey Kennedy has done it again! This was definitely one of my favorite books by her! But the title was just a tad bit misleading. I expected him to just have a foul mouth, but he actually wasn't a fowl mouthed man at all. Shep Blackshaw was nothing but an upstanding man with a huge notion for his responsibilities along with a huge reservoir for patience. He is a dirty talking cowboy that is meant to get his lady aroused in every way possible when he speaks. Emma Monroe is in this case his lady and has been hurt in the past. She led a rewarding career while she lived in New York City but soon fled to take over her grandmother's farm of rescued abused animals. Shep and Emma are immediately drawn to each other but Emma turns him down due to her past dealings with men. That is until he begins to help her and an abused horse who injured her. Shep and his brothers are faced with a huge dilemma regarding their family's business, but Shep and Emma start building a relationship quickly. But Emma isn't sure if she wants to stay away from New York. But a kink is in the wires because of Emma's past. This was such a steamy book with some seriously steamy scenes. It also included characters that were easy to fall for and the plot only made things that much better in the end. This was definitely another win for me! |
This was a strong start to what I hope will continue to be an enjoyable series. Emma is a city girl that moves to the country after inheriting her Grandmother's farm. Fresh out of a breakup she's not looking for a relationship. After Shep saves her from a life threatening accident, she decides she's ready for a little fun. I enjoyed Emma and Shep's story but overall it lacked that WOW! factor. I think it's a good set up for Nash and Chase's books and that the author can have some fun with those boys' stories! (3.25-3.5 stars) |
3.5 Stars Emma's life has been turned upside down. Her boyfriend has basically thrown her to the curb, her career is ruined, and her grandmother just passed away. Inheriting a farm in River Rock, Colorado, seems to be the perfect escape while she figures out how to put the pieces back together. Her Grams spent her life helping abused animals, and when an abused horse shows up on her doorstep Emma is determined to heal him, and hopefully herself in the process. Shep Blackshaw just lost his father, and learned he was keeping a secret that could turn his family's entire world upside down. He is a fixer, and will do whatever he can to protect those he loves. When he saves Emma's life after an incident with her new horse, he sets out to help her find herself again. While I enjoyed this book, I didn't love it. I had a hard time getting sucked in, and I felt like it was a bit all over the place. Kinky Spurs, Sheps' "toys" and the rivalry between the Blackshaw's & Harrison's all seemed like they were going to be prominent storylines, yet all fizzled out pretty quickly. I did love the Blackshaw brothers and, from the hints we were given, have high hopes for their stories. The one thing I loved in this book was Bentley. He was definitely an integral part of the story, and am so happy he wasn't pushed to the side. His & Emma's stories were intertwined beautifully, and I loved how he grew and progressed throughout. |
This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. |
Dirty-Talking Cowboy by Stacey Kennedy was an excellent story. I was drawn into this story from page 1 and finished it in one day as I could not put it down. The story was well written and the characters were well defined. The two main characters had a ton of chemistry and there was a lot of hot scenes. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to more to follow from Stacey Kennedy! I received an advanced copy through NetGalley for my honest opinion. |
I love Stacey Kennedy. She's not afraid to appeal to the inner bad girl in her readers. Her characters lay bare every emotion from the naughty to the disillusioned and the painful. Dirty Talking Cowboy is every word we're afraid to say, but forever lingers on our minds. It's fun, gritty and temptingly delicious. |
Dirty Talking Cowboy is a light romance about moving forward after a significant life event. It was well written, and the characters were sympathetically developed. The recovery of the abused horse was a lovely reflection of Emma’s emotional journey throughout the story. Dirty Talking Cowboy is a romance at heart. It has some sizzle, in fact quite a bit, but don’t let the title or the first chapter put you off. As I read the first chapter I thought I may have accidentally picked up a pure erotica novel (not that there is anything wrong with them, but I’m not a huge fan) but all is not what it seems, and it’s worth persevering. Overall, it was a great start to a new series. |
4 Stars! Sexy, romantic and amazingly good read! Dirty-Talking Cowboy is the first in a new series by Stacey Kennedy. If you've read Stacey's book, you will know she excels at writing dirty-talking alpha males and Shep is no exception! Shep and Emma scorch the pages of the book. I was hooked from page one! |
I have chosen not to complete a full review of this title, as the rating was low. I usually like this author, however, I struggled with this title and with connecting to the characters. |
