Dirty talking Cowboy is the first book of a new series (Kinky Spurs) – so maybe it takes a while to fall in love with these new heros and heroines. Kinky Spurs is a bar at Colorado – with a Motto: “Come to Kinky Spurs, where cowboys wrangle women’s hearts…and rope their bodies!” „Dirty talking Cowboy“ is not my first book I read from Stacey Kennedy – and I really like her writing. But my opinion about this book is ambivalent. It was so predictable. Emma left New York heartbroken and went to Colorado to decide what to do with the ranch she inherited from her grandmother. Shep has to deal with the unexpected financial worries with his fathers legacy. So both have to make big decisions and both of them think they have no time for love. But sometimes fates decides otherwise. It was an OK read for me – but I have high hopes that the next book in this series is getting better. |
Awesome contemporary cowboy romance. The main characters in this story were excellent. The author gave the secondary characters important roles. Emma went to her grandmother's death and the destruction of her life in New York. Shep tries to save his father's business but he's drawn to Emma. This was heart warming yet sexy. I received a complementary copy of this book via Net Galley and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author. |
I liked this book more and more as I went along - while I had a hard time with Emma (I found her to be a bit wishy-washy) but I really liked Shep from the beginning and I loved the setting of Kinky Spurs and her Gram's farmhouse/animal rescue and the Blackshaw properties. The chemistry between Emma and Shep was dynamic and the way that they helped each other deal with loss, grief, heartbreak, and upheaval was really poignant and deeply emotional. I really loved the way the book set up follow up stories about Shep's brothers, Nash and Chase, and I can't wait to read those! But what I really loved were the bits of life lessons and truth bombs that were scattered throughout the book - particularly this gem from about 91% percent in: "...how can you trust someone who can’t really see you?” That one line by itself is worth the cost of admission if you can learn from it and take it to heart. 4 out of 5 wine glasses. |
4 stars Dirty-Talking Cowboy is a great start to the new Kinky Spurs series by Stacey Kennedy. I enjoyed the storyline, it was well written, the pacing well done and my interest was held from start to finish. Emma and Shep are likable, passionate characters that I loved getting to know and they warmed my heart watching their relationship unfold. Overall, Dirty-Talking Cowboy by Stacey Kennedy is a very good read and I'm looking forward to the next book to what looks like another entertaining series by this talented author. *Thank you to the publisher via Netgalley for the advance copy.* |
when emma monroe gets roped into a game at kinky spurs, the bar she's bartending at while she figures out her next steps, she doesn't expect the connection and excitement she feels with shep blackshaw. recovering from a breakup that also ended her career emma wants to avoid men in general. but when emma is dragged by an abused horse and shep rescues her, things change between them. they can't deny the chemistry between them. and when they give in, shep is pretty clear that just sex will be good enough for now. but there will be a time when it isn't, and that's what emma needs to figure out. i loved the way their relationship deepened, and one of my favorite things about shep is how strong and steady he is about his feelings. he knows that emma is the one he wants, and he's strong enough to allow her the time and space to figure herself out. i really enjoyed dirty-talking cowboy and can't wait for the next books in the series. **dirty-talking cowboy will publish on june 5, 2018. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/st. martin's press (swerve) in exchange for my honest review. |
Although it is a little instalove, I really enjoyed this sweet and sexy romance between Shep and Emma. They deal with grief, love, and life. I want to continue this series of the Blackshaw Brothers. Thanks to St Martin’s Press for the ARC of this title via NetGalley. |
Admittedly, I've never really had a thing for cowboys. Until now. Shep Blackshaw just changed that for me. Oh boy is this guy hot! He has this intense demeanor and this mystery to him that immediately pulls you in. But once you peel away that rough, rugged exterior this man will melt you. Not only is he passionate and loyal, but he's also charming, sexy, and dare I say sweet. He knows how to be a gentleman and he knows his way around a bedroom. I loved Emma! She's had a rough few months and an escape from her life is what she needs. Though she's a little bit broken, Emma still has faith that things will turn out the way they're supposed to. She's the perfect match for Shep. He's definitely a fixer, and no one needs that more right now than Emma. I fell in love with Shep and the rest of the Blackshaw boys in this story! I can't wait to follow along with their journeys. This has definitely made me look at cowboys in a whole new light! |
Emma escapes heartbreak in New York to go to her grandmother’s farm that she inherited, animals and all. While waitressing for extra money, Emma meets Shep and the sparks fly! The chemistry between these two is unmistakable, but can they keep it only physical without emotions? I can’t wait for the next books with Nash and Chase. |

This book is the first in a new series and judging by this book, the series will be a success. This book had everything you could ask for in a romance. Plenty of heat, endearing characters, hot cowboys and just an overall good story. Although I will say at times I wondered why Emma was still so hung up on Jake when she had such an incredible catch with Shep but after all she was with Jake for over a year so.... That said, I'm definitely looking forward to the next book featuring Chase as he fights his attraction to his best friend's little sister. |
Fantastic story! Love the chemistry between Shep and Emma, heartfelt and healing, and the sexy times were classic Stacey Kennedy: descriptive without going overboard and plenty hot. |

Dirty talking Cowboy is the first book in Stacey Kennedy's new book series and she started the series off with a bang. This story instantly caught my attention form the very first chapter and I could not stop reading to I finished the whole story. I am very excited to read more of this series and to read about more hot and sexy characters. |
On the day Emma learns of her Gram’s death, she also learns that the man who she believed to be her forever was not going to stand up for her. Leaving New York for a small town in Colorado, she takes over her grandmother’s farm. She has a lot of healing to do to get beyond the broken trust her ex left her with. She was not expecting to get tied up by a cowboy at Kinky Spurs. Shep was hot to rope Emma in from the first time he saw her. When the opportunity presents itself, he grabs the reins and holds on. He’s got a lot on his plate these days after his father’s death and running his own business. Shep is a fixer and he’s determined he’s going to fix the problems that the Blackshaw Brothers have just learned about. And if she’ll let him, he’d like to help fix Emma’s problems as well. This was a great cowboy story with plenty of interactions with horses as well as some other livestock curtesy of Emma’s Gram. I loved the way Shep stepped up to help Emma when she was in a little over her head. He has had his own heart broken and he is so patient and kind while he waits for Emma to find her way to him. This is very well written and deeper than I originally expected it to be. While there is plenty of humor, at the core of this story is the love of family and learning to rebuild trust within yourself. Emma’s transition from fear of her own choices to determination to be what Shep needs in his woman was heartfelt. There are secondary characters all over the place that I suspect will be getting their own stories and after reading this first installment in the series I’m curious to see how the rest is going to play out. This is my first book by this author and I am looking forward to reading more from her. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and St. Martin's Press. All thoughts and opinions are my own. |
When Shep and Emma are together is fan yourself worthy. Shep is mega intense, focused and demanding but what really makes him special is that he is very centered. Knows the right way to handle and fix problems, even when it is not in his favor or requires a lot of patience and restrained from him. Emma is a bit lost, guarded and hurt when meeting him, but soon he starts teaching her a different kind of man. One that she deserves, one that will put her first. What I like about this book is that both characters help each other. With Shep's sweetness, protectiveness and honesty, Emma finds her home. With Bentley's help, she becomes aware of realities she previously ignored. With her Shep finds a partner, someone to rely on, someone to trust and share his burdens. This story is sweet and hot and realistic in the matters of the heart and heartache, showing the little details that are important when it comes to love. |
LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!! So the heroine Emma returns to River Rock after her grandmother dies. She's had a recent heartbreak and iant looking for a man. But in walks SHEP ♡ a hot sexy cowboy into her life. She shouldnt want things with him. But she does and she cant help it. I swooned so damn much whilst reading this. Shep though *fans self* *swoons* he's one yummy Cowboy xx |

This cowboy is about control and he makes her want to lose hers. She just lost her grandma and her boyfriend. Why not have some fun he's sexy, funny and he makes her shiver all over. |
Dirty-talking Cowboy is a hot and steamy introduction to Stacey Kennedy’s new Kinky Spurs series. Shep and Emma are two strong, captivating characters that have blazing hot chemistry that practically sizzles from every page as this couple engage in a red hot and passionate relationship. The relationship has its ups and downs with emotional woes which has Emma and Shep working hard to reach their happily ever after especially since both of them have no intentions of making their relationship a permanent one. The plot is fast paced and flows smoothly keeping reader’s attention and keeping them in suspense about how this relationship will work out while keeping the heart pumping with the very steamy passion. It starts off with a scene that had me questioning whether I wanted to continue with the book, but it all comes together and after a little twist and the problems facing Shep and his brothers adds to depth of the story and ensures that I want to get to know all of them. As usual, Stacey Kennedy does a great job of creating her worlds and bringing them to vivid life with well-developed characters that make it easy for the readers to connect with them. I enjoyed reading this sweet, heartwarming story and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series which I believe is due to be released in October. |
5 Totally Dirty Talking Stars!! Dirty-Talking Cowboy was my first read by Stacey Kennedy and holy hotness! Talk about one heck of a hot dirty talking modern cowboy. Emma has left the city to get away from her ex Jack to her Grams farm that she has inherited when her gram passed away. While at the farm Emma gets a part-time job working at a local bar called the Kinky Spurs. This is one heck of a bar that someone really needs to open up. There real cowboys all over the places, and Shep only has eyes for Emma. Shep isn't really looking for a relationship, he's just looking to run the family Cattle ranch after his father passed away, but when he sees Emma all of those plans are thrown out of the window. This book will have you wanting your very own sexy cowboy and I just say "Save a horse, ride a cowboy", get totally get it this once you. The character chemistry was amazing. This is one series where I actually can't wait to read about the other Blackshaw brothers. Usually I'm not a huge fan or in any rush to finish a series when I know the other books are going to be able to supporting character from the first book. However this is not the case with this series, I NEED Chase and Nash Blackshaw. |
Emma is nursing her broken heart while taking care of what her grandmother started taking care of abused animals. What she didn't expect was the hott cowboy Shep who seems to be good at tying her emotions in knots. Meanwhile Shep is dealing with the loss of his father and finding out that everything his father has worked for seemed to be worse they anyone could've imagined and got to work out how to keep what his father build afloat. I loved this book. I loved the connection between Shep and Emma and how they were able to be open with one another and really compliment one another. I loved getting to know the two characters and seeing how they were able to slowly but surely work on Bentley. There was plenty of hott steamy scenes and romance between the two which I enjoyed. Its hard to talk more about this book without spoiling it but if you love a good contemporary romance with cowboys and plenty of steam you're not gonna want to miss this boo |

Emma’s boyfriend has broken up with her so it seems just the right time when she inherits a farm from her Grandmother with it comes the abused animals her Grandmother cared for. Emma finds a waitress job at a joint called Kinky Spurs, it’s there she meets Shep he is about the sexiest man she has ever seen.
So Emma has left her big city life, her job her ex all behind, but she still has her heart and it is a broken one, but this Cowboy is really taking her mind off that, seems he might have just the fix for her.
So much story here beyond the spicy kinky sex is a great heart warming finding home and building a country life with her heart mended tale to satisfy you.

I have enjoyed many books by Stacey Kennedy and this one is no different, Dirty-Talking Cowboy had me hooked from the first page to the very last. Emma and Shep are both going through not only a deep loss but a life changing event and loosing themselves in one another seems to be just what the doctor ordered to heal their hearts. Emma's grandmother just passed away and left her the farm that she had to used to help rescue animals and unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, it came at the perfect time because Emma needed to get out of New York for a while and figure out what her next steps would be after leaving her high profile marketing position. Shep's father passed away suddenly of a heart attack and it left him and his two brothers, Chase and Nash, with a business none of them wanted but they needed to figure out how to make it work not only for their mother but also for all of the employees the company had. Shep and Emma had great chemistry together. I not only liked the main characters of this book but I also loved the secondary characters, I am really looking forward to seeing both Chase and Nash getting their HEAs. If you enjoy a good story line with a dirty-talking cowboy then this book is for you. Happy Reading! |
