Dirty talking cowboy is one of those books that you read just for the pure joy of reading. Take a “damsal in distress” add in an alpha, hero cowboy mix in super steamy sexy times and the result is a story that has you rooting for our couple and not wanting to put their story down. Emma and Shep are both great characters that i genuinely liked. Shep was a solid and strong feature in the story and exactly what tumbled Emma needed to find her footing. Add in a great secondary cast and just a smidge of intrigue and you have a great series starter. I am definitely looking forward to seeing what happens to Chase in the next book. |
A fast read, with likable caracteres and a solid background. I only hope the background story will be develop in the next installment. Emma and Shep are hot together and I wish we had seen more scenes with all Shep promised with his ropes! |
I may have a thing for cowboy romances now. Stacey Kennedy's new Kinky Spurs series focuses on the Blackshaw brothers. Sexy, swoony, and definitely romance hero material; these three cowboys are here to rope you into their hearts! Emma has returned to her summer home of her grandmother who's recently passed. The areas of land and animals couldn't have come at a better time when Emma needs an escape to heal from heartbreak. She's left her job and lost the man she thought loved her all in the same day. Licking her wounds in River Rock seems the perfect distraction from the mess of her life. The unplanned distraction? The mysterious cowboy who comes in to the bar, Kinky Spurs, and always locks eyes with her. But Kinky Spurs isn't just in name; it's claim to fame is it's sexy cowboys that come in to "rope" themselves a woman. With a last minute change, Emma is on stage with her mysterious cowboy, Shep Blackshaw. Piercing eyes, smoking body, and a killer smile....Emma is doomed. After their family loses their father, Shep and his brothers have to make a decision on their families business. A distraction is just what Shep needs from his new responsibilities and nothing is more eye catching than the sexy new bartender at Kinky Spurs. Shep is determined to find out more about her after their steamy on stage encounter with a rope and some intimate eye-locking. When one of Emma's new horses drags her on a wild chase, Shep is there to save the day and keep her close. But what seemed to be a fun fling for the womanizing cowboy is quickly turning in to a true romance neither planned for. Their own perceived futures are what get in they way for Emma and Shep. When a piece of Emma's past comes back to threaten what these two have built, their quiet content country romance is all but shattered. Shep is amazingly charming; I loved his mix of country boy next door and bad boy in the sheets. Emma was a headstrong heroine but I liked her vulnerabilities in trusting her own instincts; it made her incredibly relatable. This is a quick and emotion filled romance for any fan; cowboy, small town, triangle, all of the above. I can't wait to read more of our Blackshaw brothers based on the teases of the two younger brothers love interests! |
Stacey Kennedy you have dirty dirty mind! The story of Shep Blackshaw and Emma is epic. Emma is in Colorado because her heart is broken and her Grams left her the farm when she passed recently. She also works as a bartender at the Kinky Spurs when she meets the intensely hot sexy Shep Blackshaw. The minute he walks in, she is the only thing he sees and he wants to claim her. She has lingering trust issues and is not looking to have a relationship, after what happened in NYC. Can this city girl find what she is looking for in Colorado? Can Shep get her over the trust issues? The story is amazing and will make you laugh out loud and shed a tear or two at the same time. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the other Blackshaw brothers! |
This was a great combination of super sweet and high octane heat. Heck of a story! I've got a new appreciation for sexy cowboys. I loved Emma and Shep. they were excellent characters. Especially Shep. Oh my! A hot, sweet, dirty-talking cowboy who was so caring and full of heart. I couldn't get enough! I really liked Emma as well and loved how she was trying something new why she figured herself out. I really liked their instant attraction and pull. They had sizzling chemistry and heat. Underneath that there was so much sweetness and caring. I loved how Shep was there for Emma, I liked watching them connect beyond the sexy times and loved their real, raw vulnerable moments. There are things in their lives that are causing personal turmoil and I really liked them figuring out their personal battles as they come together. I thought the storyline was awesome, there were great details and really good character development. It moved along at a good pace and I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next. I liked the other characters introduced as well. I thought this was a great series starter, a nice amount of ground work was laid for the next two books, getting me excited for more. I love the added elements with the animals and how that was woven into the story, it made for so many touching moments. There's a good amount of fun and playfulness, a really nice amount of blow-your-socks-off sex, awesome characters, and a bit of mild drama and emotion. I thoroughly enjoyed this. It was just super entertaining to read as Emma and Shep experienced all their ups and downs and go from lust to love. A truly great read! |
I tried for about a month to read this book and had the highest of hopes. The synopsis made it look soooo good. But alas, I couldn't get into the book. I gave up around 37&% when I realized that I was forcing myself to read something that wasn't capturing me. I really wanted to like Shep. It's not that I had anything against him, but he felt very flat, not feeling more dynamic than the initial interaction when Shep ropes Emma in the bar. I'll chalk it up to wanting a different type of story since the writing isn't bad, just not for me. |
4 Kinky Spur Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟 This was a spicy sassy romance filled with beautiful scenery and gorgeous Cowboys... there is always something so alluring about a small town romance... makes this city girl want to pack her bags and head to the country.... Emma finds herself at her grandma‘s farm trying to sort things out after heartache and her grandma’s death... Emma left her life in New York where she loved her job and she thought she loved her former boss... can this city girl find what she needs in the country...Shep... Love the guy, hate the name... should not be thinking about the new girl in town, he has a cattle ranch to save.... I really liked both Emma and Shep... I found the chemistry between them real and they seemed so perfect for one another... there is Insta love in this book, so if that is not your thing you are forewarned.... The only part of this book that I didn’t love was when Jake came around, I just thought that part didn’t need to happen, but clearly that is my own opinion... can’t wait for the next books in this series, I found Shep’s brothers Chase and Nash a little more intriguing than him... Absolutely recommend to fans of romance, Cowboys, spice, and love💕 *** many thanks to the publisher for my copy of this book*** |
Real, Raw & Hawt! OY VEY! This story was full of real, raw, slow, sensual, pleasure and passionate lust, that will leave you pulsating with energy, as you read this Fantastic story. I was hooked from the beginning to the end. I was totally enthralled by the relationship between Emma Monroe and Shepherd Blackshaw. Shep was intense, powerful, and seductive, but always a gentleman, even with his dirty talking that will blow your mind. Emma was scared, confused and untrusting of all men, after a recent break up, that also destroyed her career. But their affection, respect and trust, as well as the undeniable energy between them leads to sweet seductive moments that are tantalizing. Save a horse ride a cowboy! This story was HOT! Cant wait to read the rest of this series. You don’t want to miss this story! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. |

Its weird, and maybe the first time for a Stacy Kennedy book - but I did not finish. I can't even put my finger on it, exactly why... but I did try a half dozen times before setting it down for good. Maybe the chemistry was lacking? The plot was a little meandering? I'm sorry - usually a big fan. |
This story was filled with emotions but for some reason it didn’t reach the top of my scale. It’s a strong 4 star read. * Good storyline, girl flies big city after betrayal from boyfriend, comes to small town and falls for smoking hot cowboy. And the love story builds nicely. * Characters that are realistic with insecurities and feelings like we all have. I loved that Emma and Shep communicates easily. * No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and lots of dialogues that makes the story come together nicely. * The love scenes is filled with emotions and is dirty but still tasteful. * Great world building and secondary characters I would love to hear more about. Dirty talking cowboy indeed 💖 |
When it comes to writing stories that are sizzling hot with a side of heart, no one does it better than author Stacey Kennedy. After all, who wouldn't love a sexy, dirty-talking cowboy that literally sweeps you off your feet? That's exactly what this author promises, and that's exactly what she delivers. Directly on the heels of heartbreak, Emma Monroe licks her wounds by fleeing to River Rock Colorado to the farm of abused animals she inherited from her grandmother. A bad breakup and a tarnished career have Emma taking refuge on the farm she loves, while contemplating what her future holds next. While there, Emma takes a part-time bartending gig at the local hotspot, Kinky Spurs. It’s at Kinky Spurs that Emma first encounters Shep Blackshaw—the dirty-talking, rope-wielding cowboy that Emma is hard-pressed to resist. With her eager body overruling her injured heart, Emma quickly surrenders herself to temptation and offers herself up to the cowboy who would soon come to possess both her body AND her heart. But is it enough to keep Emma in River Rock for good? Or will the lure of the big city ultimately win out in the end? Shep Blackshaw has a lot on his plate. With his family business--Blackshaw Cattle Company--in dire financial straits, it’s up to him and his brothers to find a way to salvage the company without relinquishing their own dreams in the process. Hence, the last thing Shep needs is a distraction. And that’s exactly what Emma Monroe is—a distraction. But she’s a distraction of the very best kind; one he just can’t seem to resist. With the patience of a saint, Shep is relentless in his pursuit of Emma, and the end result is nothing short of explosive! But Emma’s past proves to be a challenge when it comes to moving their relationship forward, especially when her “ex” unexpectedly shows up in River Rock, determined to win her back. Deliciously sexy and romantic to boot, this brand new series by Stacey Kennedy is off to a wickedly good start. While Emma’s obsession over her douchey ex was a bit much at times, Shep’s swoon-worthy character and the absence of any unnecessary angst, truly made this story a delight to read. I can readily predict that I'll be roping in more of these delectable cowboys in the future! |

Dirty-Talking Cowboy is a good steamy read. Emma is having a rough patch in life so she leave New York City and she's decided to stay at her Grams ranch in Colorado. She meet s Shep at Kinky Spurs where she is working part time. Shep is a sexy hot cowboy. Shep is a dirty talking take control kind of guy. Both have been burned in the past and neither is looking for a serious relationship. Their chemistry is off the charts and they are perfect together. |

A dirty talking alpha cowboy who likes his sexy times with a side of kink...yes please! I loved this story and these characters. Shep is dealing with the loss of his father as well as the financial troubles they find the family company is in. Emma is fresh off a humiliating break up that upended her NY life. Now she's in Colorado dealing with her grandmother's estate, running a ranch for abused animals, and bar tending at the local watering hole. What these two need is a little stress relief and what's better than a little fling for that! When the fling starts to turn into a whole lot more Emma is faced with making the biggest decision of her life. This book was fun, lighthearted and definitely hot! I'd recommend to everyone. |
Thank you NetGalley and St Martin's Press for letting me read this book for an honest review! My first time reading Stacey Kennedy, happy I did! What first caught my eye was the book cover, to be honest! What's hotter than a dirty talking cowboy? Hot and steamy romance, for adults... The chemistry between Shep and Emma is one of a kind! But this book is more than that, good plot, good story, easy to read, you won't put it down! You will love it! 5 stars! This is book 1 in the Kinky Spurs series, so more will follow and I'm happy about it! Review shared online on NetGalley, Twitter, Goodreads... |
I absolutely love Stacey Kennedy as her novels are always sexy, sassy and full of emotion. For that reason when I read the blurb to Dirty- Talking Cowboy I knew I needed to read it! This story was SOO hot and fiery. I felt the chemistry between Shep and Emma sizzle right off the pages! This was a fantastic start to a new series and I can't wait for more! When Emma Monroe heads to River Rock, Colorado to start over she never would have expected to meet Shep Blackshaw, a sexy cattle rancher she has insane chemistry with. But when their hot nights cross into into emotion-filled moments, will Emma and Shep become something more? Gahh! I thought this story was fantastic! I loved Emma and Shep's connection and the draw that kept pulling them towards one another. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future! Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula |

This was such a fun and sexy read! Emma has left New York City and come to her Gram's farm heartbroken and betrayed but she is determined to figure out how to manage to take care of the animals her Gram took in when no one else would. When one of those animals takes off running with a rope attached to her wrist and dragging her it is a miracle when Shep discovers her. An ambulance ride and hospital stay and morphine-fueled rambling leads to some interesting discoveries. The roping games at the bar the previous night paired the two and lead to some sexy gasps and dreams and evidently it was mutual and the morphine loosened lips. With all this out in the open, it only lead to moving these two in the direction they really wanted to go. Watching them come together was special but watching the entire family interact was something. Great world building and I am definitely looking forward to further in this series and seeing where this is going to go. I definitely recommend this one! **Received this ARC for review from the publisher via NetGalley** |
“Do you melt the way you did for me with every man who touches you?” Dirty-Talking Cowboy was an overall good romance read. I enjoyed Emma's character and really loved how relatable she was. The author perfectly captures the feelings and thoughts someone goes through when faces with overcoming a past love that just wasn't meant to be. I have been through before and holy crap she captured those feelings inadequate and confusion perfectly. Emma was real and I appreciated that. Shep was sexy, strong and a complete alpha male. I love alpha males who are intense and domineering in the bedroom but for some reason I felt like his extra Kink didn't really fit him. I have read and loved some intense BDSM books and I know everyone has their own things sexually but it just the one scene where they explored a bit into Sheps kinks just felt forced. His alpha male personality fit with the novel just fine but I felt the author tried to do something more with it that didn't necessarily work well with this story. Besides that one scene, which you'll know if you read the book, the sex between Emma and Shep was hot and intense and written well. The relationship between them is a bit inst lovey but their chemistry is off the charts and as Sheps mom says “Their heart. When they know, they know.” Dirty-Talking Cowboy by Stacy Kennedy is a strong start to a romance series. I am looking forward to reading about the other Blackshaw brothers getting their happily ever afters. 3.5/5 🌟 |
It's the perfect time of year to read Dirty Talking Cowboy, with the sun shining down on you and a cold drink next to you let your imagination whisk you away to River Rock, Colorado where the Cowboys are as hot as the weather Dirty Talking Cowboy is a quick, smooth read with equal parts sweet and sexy. Emma is lost after the life she had built in New York imploded around her thanks to a narcissistic jerk-face of a boyfriend who also happened to be her boss. Upon inheriting her grandmother's farm and all of the animals along with it, Emma takes the time to reflect on what she truly wants to do about her future. Overwhelmed by the responsibility at first, Emma feels out of her depth BUT she also feels a deep sense of contentment at the farm she hasn't experienced anywhere else. Taking on an abused horse also gives Emma an unusual kinship with the animal, both of them fighting to trust people again. Shep is the oldest of three brothers and local royalty in River Rock, not only for their family's cattle ranch but also because of their good looks. Shep has taken on the responsibility of the family cattle empire following the sudden death of his father, along with his own survival business and his desire to ease his mother's grief and should the brunt of the duties himself; Shep understandably doesn't want to take on any more obligations. Sparks fly when Shep and Emma meet at Kinky Spurs where Emma is working part-time while sorting through her personal issues. However, Emma is not in a place to enter any sort of relationship no matter how much her hormones are telling her otherwise. Although there is no fighting the inevitable as Shep saves Emma from a horse-riding incident which also leaves her requiring a fair bit of assistance in her recovery. Also serving to kick in Shep's alpha protective side along with the dominance that is an intrinsic part of him. Shep and Emma have such an ease to their relationship beyond the physical, they seem to have an underlying connection that allows them to give each other exactly what they need without them having to express it. I loved how they were able to help each other when they needed it the most. Although Emma is still very skittish where her emotions are concerned the barriers are gradually breaking down where Shep is concerned and something far better than anything she has ever experienced is taking its place Kinky Spurs has lead Emma and Shep to not only find each other but also the perfect path for their future The small glimpses we see of Shep's two brothers have ignited a need to learn more about each of them - more hot cowboys - yes, please |
