I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. This is the story of two very headstrong people, Hannah and Aiden, who kinda know each other, but decide that they should know each other better. There are struggles and fun, hidden things in each of their pasts that they need to overcome, but this is a good story and a great read. This is definitely one to pick up. |
Hannah is close to Jase, one of Aiden’s best friend and a national Guardsman who is in Aiden’s unit, but they are not romantically involved. Aiden, for his part is very interested in a relationship with Hannah but has backed off because he is unsure because of Hannah’s closeness to Jase. When Jase encourages Aiden’s relationship with Hannah, Aiden goes for it. However, each of the pair has big stumbling blocks to overcome before a solid relationship is possible. In Aiden’s case, he has a background filled with a lot of events and persons and events in his past that work to prevent him from going forward with a relationship. Still, Aiden determines to push on forward himself, and even manages to overcome the lot. Hannah is the “bad” twin to her sister Becca’s “good” twin. I have not read any Becca’s story which an earlier part of the series is, so I am not very familiar with Becca or her relationships/actions/events and cannot explain the twin’s relationship here. Hannah also has experienced heartache in past love and is now determined to find herself before succumbing to romance again. Thus, each has his/her own share of problems/secrets to work through, but, if they can manage to succeed, a solid relationship will occur. The book was an okay read, but it will never be one of my favorites. I personally was not taken by either of the two main characters, Aiden and Hannah. Aiden was not really that open to life or relationships and had some very difficult past issues to overcome—which I am a bit surprised he could do himself. Hannah came across as self-absorbed and unwilling to give her all to the relationship. Things moved along at a mixed pace, sometimes slow, sometimes fast. There were a lot of references to characters who obviously had been in earlier books in the series, which I often wished I had read, so I would have known more about them. In this book, it seemed like Aiden needed to be more up-front with Hannah, though he probably was just taking things slowly as he wanted. However, somehow the story just did not come together well for me. It is an okay read, but, as I said, will never be one of my favorites. If you enjoyed the rest of the books in the series, this may be another to read to complete it. It also is not a terribly long book, so can probably be read rather quickly. I received this from NetGalley to read and review. |
I really loved this story. Normally it is the women who have the hang up but it was refreshing to read about a man who was dealing with past issues. While it was a very sensitive subject and was sprinkled throughout with out being very revealing, I think it was handled very well. I like that Hannah didn't push Aiden too much and that their relationship grew over time. It was steamy without being overdone. Loved their chemistry and Aiden's personality. |

Hannah wasn’t even sad she ended her engagement to Jonas after two months. Maybe she was broken or maybe Hannah was looking for something unattainable. There was no doubt loved her neighbor and best friend Jace for years. She wondered if her inability to love another man fully was because of Jace. Hannah had a twin sister Becca although Jace and Becca had been crushing on each other for years and Hannah felt she stood in their way but they were together now- they had started seeing each other in December- and Hannah was talking to Aldan who was a man of few words and didn’t usually smile but Hannah made it her mission to make him smile and laugh. He had said he had never really been in love either. Hannah knew eventually it would happen but losing her best friend to her twin was hard. Hannah had spent a lot of her life jealous and feeling inadequate next to Becca. Becca seemed to excel at everything she did. The one person who always made her feel good about herself was Jace and he was with Becca now. Hannah taught third grade. Aidan owned his own bar- Smokeys- for several years now. Hannah didn’t know it but Aidan really wanted her as well as cared deeply about her but he was messed up in his head from being a sniper in the army but more so for the abuse he had suffered when he was younger that no one knew about. Hannah was out with the girls- other teacher from the same school and they had told her to loosen up. Hannah had fajitas and realized how much better Aidan’s fajitas were. And texted Aidan that and he told her he would make them any time for her. Hannah decided to go see her sister Becca and Aidan offered to make fajitas for them at his bar. Jace said not to lead Aidan on as she had to know he was into Hannah. So Hannah made sure she said they were just friends and then regretted it. Then Aidan’s grandmother died and Hannah drove to him and they went on his bike for a ride and ended up at the lake. Then Hannah and Will were kissing with him over her but then he pulled away from her. I loved this book In a way it was a hard book to read for all Aidan had been through especially the abuse but it was so worth reading. Also the author did a very good job handling the abandonment issue, the sexual abuse of a young girl, and the abuse Aidan had suffered. I felt that was very realistic. I loved how Hannah and Aidan interacted most of the time even when he hurt her or she hurt him. I loved how Aidan’s National Guard friends wanted to be there for him especially Jace considering he didn’t know of Aidan’s past and he also wanted to be there for Hannah. I couldn’t find anything to criticize in this book happily and I loved the ending. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend. |
Aiden King is a thirty something bar owner and cook. He is a former army sniper, now National Guard Reserve. Aiden is close with his guard unit, meeting up Friday before drill weekend and cooking dinner for everyone. He has harbored a crush on Hannah for over a year, but because of her relationship with Jase, one of his best friends, and his own history, he’s never made a move. Hannah Walters has no filter. What she thinks she says and what she wants to know she asks. I found her self-centered, demanding, pushy and obnoxious. Lots of internal dialogue and angst. I found it completely unbelievable that Aiden was so easily able to overcome his history by himself. I didn’t see what connected these two or what attracted them to each other beyond physical attributes. And I felt like the story dragged on for too long and it’s only 150 pages! Probable triggers. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher. |
Only With You is the story of Hannah and Aiden, two people who meet through friends. While Aiden is attracted to Hannah, she is trying to get her act together on her own. They become friends, sort of. There are many obstacles to overcome before they can have a relationship, some of which have a huge impact on Aiden and his future with Hannah. Without giving away the plot, the author has addressed a serious social issue with honesty and compassion. She makes you feel the pain of the ghosts from the past but gives you hope for the future. This is a well-written book and deserves to be read! |
This is the first book that I’ve read from this author and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. ONLY WITH YOU by Nicole McLaughlin is book four in the Man Enough series. This book can be read as a standalone but I will go back and read the first three in this series. This book is full of drama, humor, suspense, heartbreak, secrets kept, surprises – and love. I was drawn right in and kept interested until the end. The storyline was very good. I would definitely recommend this book. |
This book is so good. The main characters are great. While they both bring issues and past baggage with them they work on those issues throughout the book, which is so relatable and helps you really understand both of them. The supporting characters are great and do a really good job helping move the story along and acting as pillars to help explain the main characters' stories. This whole series has been really great and this book is no exception. |
This is Hannah's story, which was presented to readers in the previous book, being Becca's twin sister. Because of Hannah, Becca hid for years the love she felt for Jase. But after all the confusion, when Hannah announced that she was engaged, now, Hannah ends her two-month engagement with Jonas. And, at the age of 30, Hannah begins to wonder if there is anything wrong with her, because she has never really fallen in love. She decides to take advantage of the beginning of the year and take some resolutions, and change for the better. In the meantime, she meets some friends of Jase, among them Aiden King. "'Okay' is your favorite word. You need it printed on a coffee mug. Someday I'm gonna find something that you really like to talk about. Something that won't make you shut up" Aiden, a former soldier, a National Guardsman and owner of Smokey's bar is a man of few words. Tall, strong, kind and gentleman, he loves to hear Hannah speak. The two begin a friendship that gets lost between being a friendship in fact or a beginning of relationship. When Hannah decides that she and Aiden could be a couple, despite the strong attraction he evidently feels for her, something pulls him away from her... and from any other woman. "He was fucked up, and Hannah deserved someone mentally strong, emotionally stable, and experienced with women. None of those things necessarily described his situation" Throughout the story, the reader will know the victories and defeats that Aiden suffered in life, and not only wants this great man to find redemption, but a great love too. Beautiful plot. I dare say I like more of this twin's story. 5 stars |
I unfortunately did not get a chance to download this before it archived. Pub Date 05 Jun 2018 I was provided a complimentary copy from St. Martin's Press through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own. |
This touching story is book 4 in the Man Enough series and it features Aiden and Hannah. WOW! Talk about heartbreaking. I’m not sure if I’ve ever read about a male character with Aiden’s past and current issues. This author did a brilliant job with handling the sensitive subject. I’m very happy Hannah is such a strong character. She may have her insecurities but she strong when it counts. This is my first book by this author and I’m excited to read more. Great characters and a smooth story line with just the right amount of suspense. |
Oh, my goodness! This was such a great, yet heartbreaking, story. The ordeal Aiden went through as a kid, and how much he struggled to deal with it in the present while trying to be with Hannah, broke my heart. The topic was definitely handled well, the story was perfectly paced and believable being he had to struggle with real demons. Hannah was the perfect match, but it did break my heart as she tried to get Aiden to open up and he kept putting roadblocks up. Loved every second of their story; it was priceless, poignant, and perfect. I am really glad Aiden got to have a happily ever and when he proposed to Hannah was both funny and beautiful. Her reaction was priceless. This is a must read and the series, I have read two thanks to NetGalley, is definitely one to put on your TBR list. |
the latest novel in the man enough series, only with you picks up where should've been you left off. aiden has had his eye on hannah for a long time, but she was always jase's, except not really. because jase and becca (hannah's sister) are the ones who are together. and hannah is adjusting to the changes in her friendship with jase. and she finds herself drawn to aiden, who is a strong, silent presence around her constant chatter. aiden and hannah are opposites, but they are also lost and lonely and find something in each other that is worth fighting for. it's not an easy journey for them. aiden has demons that aren't easily overcome. but hannah is strong enough to help him deal with them, for all that she seems flighty and insubstantial, there is more to hannah. and aiden sees it. and it's so heart-achingly lovely. **only with you will publish on june 5, 2018. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/st. martin's press (swerve) in exchange for my honest review. |

Only With You is a lovely, heartbreaking and heartwarming book. Aiden has issues to deal with and Hannah is determined to help him. Definitely a slow burner. |
**Copy Provided by Netgalley and St Martins Press for an honest review** Talk about good guys. Jase’s fellow National Guardsman and close friend was like a unicorn of men: kind, quiet, gentlemanly… he was handsome— in that bearded wilderness-man kind of way. He was also big and buff and could probably pick her up with his pinkie finger. As big as he was, did that mean . . . And just like that her mind went to a naughty place. This is a book that can be read as a stand alone, however its alway nicer to read the full series to get a much fuller idea of the characters you are reading about. Hannah has been in previous books and in the previous one she found her best friend and her sister got together and she got engaged and broke it off two months later. Now she is on a voyage of discovery to find out who she is with a man embargo, however one of Jaces friends Aiden also stirs her fancy. Aiden is the quiet gentleman, however he has had a disturbed past. A young teenage mother that left him with his grandparents when he was young along with another harrowing experience that has left lasting affects on him. Hannah is a stubborn woman and goes for what she wants and after a short time she realises that it is Aiden that she wants. She just has to coax out his words and emotions. However after a painful road trip it is only time apart that gives them the ammunition they need to try the relationship for real and to both go for what they want. This book had me in tears a few times and could be a trigger with some in regards to sexual abuse. |
Aiden and Hannah were a unique pair that belonged together even though Aiden’s past keeps him a little aloof from Hannah. I don’t want to give too much away, but I was glad that they found each other. The dual POV helped add to the strength of the story and I really enjoyed the secondary characters and small town setting. |
I am a sucker for military servicemen! This was the first book I have read by Nicole McLaughlin and I am hooked. I want to grab a copy of the first three books in this series and find out all about Tyler, Reeve and Jase. This was a fast read. A perfect book for vacation, or reading right before bed. |
Great love story. I have not read any of the other books in the series but this was a good stand alone. I needed a heartwarming story at the time I read this and it did not disappoint. The two main characters are on a journey through many emotions and phases of their lives. The writer moves them along a great storyline. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance e-copy for my honest review. |
This one was a great read, it was fast paced and emotional. It isn't a simple read, it is dealing with some serious issues.I had a hard time in some parts to keep up with this but overall, I enjoy it! This is a friends to lovers story and it takes the time to build the friendship and also the romance. Which was great because it made the story more realistic! |
