I thoroughly enjoyed Scarlett Cole’s Deep Cover. Cabe and Amy were multi-layered characters that seemed wonderfully authentic and enjoyable. The back story to their romance seemed well thought out, researched and played out evenly over the course of the book. I always enjoy romance that focuses on two well developed characters naturally falling in love because circumstances bring them together. While this is the third in the series, I felt like it could stand alone by providing enough details to give the reader a brief background from the first two books while not being long-winded. I definitely recommend this book and will be reading the first two books in the series!

Amy is a beautiful, badass FBI agent, and Cabe is a hot, sexy ex-military man who helps run Eagle Securities.
When Cabe hits on Amy at a bar, and then disappears, she is disappointed and thinks that is the last she will see of him...Fate doesn't feel the same way, as they end up working on a joint undercover case, trying to solve a missing women and money laundering case. Cabe is trying to recover from the death of his fiancee, a military woman who was KIA. Amy is still trying to figure out her purpose by trying to further her career in the FBI. Can things work between them, or should they keep it strictly professional?

This is the third book in the series by Scarlett Cole. I really enjoyed this and would recommend it!

I received an ARC copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley for my honest review. This is the third book in the series but can be read as a stand-alone. I really enjoyed the story of Amy and Cabe. Both have struggled due to past relationships ( her mother disappeared when she was a child and his fiancée died) but were able to create a strong relationship between the two of them. The mutual attraction was initially what started it but their respect for each other professionally and personally was nice. Amy is a strong, smart, attractive FBI agent able to use her card skills during a casino case with missing girls . Cabe is the alpha ex-seal consultant helping her case. I enjoyed Amy’s wit and the fact that Cabe didn’t take over her case but supported her. Even the ending still shows his support as neither have to give up their goals. The romance is steamy and the action/ suspense was great. My only complaints are the amount of gambling details in the beginning which were a little overwhelming and the fact that there was no separation in the story line ( one second we’re all about Amy and the next sentence is Cabe talking even if it happened hours later). Maybe some extra space between the paragraphs or a stylized icon (paragraph icon) would be nice. Overall a good read- 4.5 stars and I would recommend for others to buy this book.

Cabe Moss is still grieving his fiancée five years after her passing, but his interest in dating is reignited when he meets Amy Murray. The two put try to put the passion on hold while they get to the bottom of a case involving both money laundering and human trafficking. But their feelings are impossible to deny.

This is the third book in a series and the men of the previous two book play rather prominent roles. I wouldn’t say that you need to read the first two to ‘get’ this one, rather that the endings are reiterated in it, so people who hate spoilers should just start at the beginning of the series.

A lot of work went into this book, and it shows. The heroine is incredibly competent and experienced in multiple areas, and it feels like Scarlett Cole wanted to deliver a story that was both well-researched and well-considered. Cabe is a difficult hero to balance--both protective and mindful of Amy’s abilities and independence. Personally, I think it a success. She has the most emotionally invested in their joint mission, which I felt made her a stronger character overall, but that doesn’t really detract from anything.

Their relationship has a few bumpy misunderstandings, however they communicate openly and rather well. I didn’t like that Amy was down on herself for having conflicting desires regarding their relationship status, though. Believe in yourself, girl! Most of what keeps them apart is the job and professionalism. They also have their own individual hangups from their respective pasts. Cabe struggles more internally, which I liked. He had a lot to deal with, and any less would have felt hand-wavy.

I won’t lie, the beginning was painfully rough for me to read. There is a plethora of information and it comes in a torrent of straight-up telling. It doesn’t lack emotion where appropriate. There’s just too much information told too quickly and some of it is unnecessary. For example, there are more named characters than are warranted. It takes attention away from names a reader actually has to know and remember. Some information is not superfluous, but it would be better served in small doses delivered organically throughout the story, rather than dumped in the first two or three chapters.

After that though, they meet and start working together and it all smooths out. The research is extensive and mostly explained but not too much, all to the point of showing that Amy knows what she’s doing. The villains are a bit simple, though not cartoonish. They make for good antagonists. Particularly when the endgame kicks in. The ending plays out at a swift, exciting pace and it’s quite good.

This novel features the main characters Cabe Moss, who is an ex-Navy Seal who is now part owner of a private security firm Eagle Security and Amy Murray, who is an FBI agent recently reassigned to the San Diego office from Las Vegas after being sexually harassed by a superior. The two are brought together to work on a case of money laundering and missing women. Both characters have complicated pasts that at the beginning prevent them from acting on their attraction, but soon the attraction wins out and they must now navigate this blossoming romance without losing sight of their assignment goal.
I do want to state that I did received this book as an advanced reader copy from the publisher St. Martin’s Press via net galley, but below is my 100% honest review of the book.
I do want to start off by highly commending the author on her approach to the relationship between the two main characters. Both characters have pasts and of course the current mission that keep them both from fully wanting to embrace this attraction between them so at first they both do fight it, but it is done maturely. There were no childish internal dialogs from the characters that go on for pages about their on one minute off the next relationship status.
The characters are also complex and loveable. I particularly found Amy to be a great character who more than once had me laughing out loud at her sassy remarks and come backs. I also found myself captured by the storyline from the very beginning and was held through the entire book. The book has a little of everything, such as great sex scenes that left you wanting more, but also like stated above they were done in a mature way where the main male character didn’t have “the biggest member that the female lead has ever experiences” or “he didn’t just keep going deeper and deeper, deeper than anyone before has ever gone” and things along that line that are often fall back descriptions found in books featured in this genre. There is also action where the reader gets to see the sexy masculine protector side of Cabe. The book also has a lot of description into the world of casinos and gaming that you can even learn a thing or two.
Overall I give this a 5 out of 5. It’s a fun read; the storyline is mature and complex that it makes the book a very quick read. This is my first book from this author but I look forward to reading many more from her especially if they are anything like this one.

Deep Cover is book 3 in the Love Over Duty series-I recommend reading the first two books in the series first, though this book can be read as a stand alone. The author does a good job filling you in on what went on in the first 2 books. Cabe and his friends, former Navy Seals, run a security ops company that goes undercover with the FBI in Las Vegas at a casino where women have worked and our mysteriously disappearing. The main characters are Cabe and Amy, both of them are resistant to a relationship due to their pasts, but with Amy being the undercover FBI agent working the case they are forced to work closely and sparks ignite. There are steamy love scenes, and lots of suspense and action on their way to the HEA. If you like reading Romantic Suspense with Alpha Navy Seals, and special ops you will LOVE this book. I'm looking forward to reading more books by Scarlett Cole. A Great Read!

I enjoyed this book. It does not fall into a lot of the cliches that many special ops/security firm romances do. The hero was not domineering and heroine was not a damsel in distress. They were both competent people and weren't overly reckless or anything like that. The story line had enough action and plotting to keep it interesting. There were a few intimate scenes that were steamy and lovely.

It was fun to see the love blossom between Cabe and Amy. I was concerned that their previous baggage was going to create a lot of conflict but it was minimal. The author assured the readers that they were very much in love with each other.

I really enjoyed this author's writing style. Even though this book is the third in a series, there was enough of the backstory explained to brought me up to speed. Although having read this one, I'm going to go back and read the other two!

Scarlett Cole's new series (can I call it 'new' if this is the third book?) has really hit its stride with this confident, gripping and engaging instalment.

Amy Murray is an FBI agent, newly transferred to the San Diego office after her superior made unwelcome sexual advances. The daughter and granddaughter of legendary Las Vegas high-rollers she is asked to take a key role in a new assignment involving the disappearance of several women over a long period of time which appear to be connected with a casino in San Diego. The plan is to insert Amy as a new blackjack dealer, mirror the circumstances of the other girls who have gone missing and hope whoever is responsible for the women disappearing takes the bait.

Cabe Moss is the third founder member of the Eagle Securities, and best friends since the age of 10 with the other two; Six and Mac. Two years ago his fiancee Jess was killed in action and he has been alone ever since. Eagle Securities are tracking a team of terrorists who tried to kill Six's fiancee Lou and steal a formula she developed. They also tried to silence Mac's girlfriend Delaney when she got too close to uncovering their drugs route. Now the team are trying to uncover the money laundering operation and have also identified the same casino as being involved. So there's an alphabet soup of CIA, FBI, San Diego PD and Eagle Securities with skin in the game.

If you've read Scarlett's other series you will know she likes to stretch the angst as tight as she can, but not so much in this series and this book has the least angst that I can recall of any of her books. It's simply a cracking good read, with a hero who wants to love again and a heroine who has mad skills and a cool head. They were a brilliant couple and I loved this book.

If you are looking for a beautiful heroine who is also clever and quick-witted, an alpha male ex-SEAL with a big heart and a loving family then you've come to the right place. Overall, suitably nail-biting, funny, sweet and sexy in turns. A winner!

Ex Navy SEAL? I’m in! I really enjoy Scarlett Cole’s books and Deep Cover did not disappoint. This was a good read and always look forward to reading more from her.

Loved this book! Cabe is a swoon worthy hero who was almost destroyed when his fiance died shortly before their wedding two years ago. He has continued living, but just as a shell of who he was, until he meets Amy. Amy has scars of her own, but keeps moving forward. The attraction between the two of them sent so many sparks I'm surprised my kindle didn't ignite....

I loved the characters and felt invested in their story. Both of the characters have enough quirks and back story to make them feel real and with depth. I found myself hoping for them to get a HEA, however, as they are both on an undercover operation, their HEA is a bit more out of reach.

While this novel is part of a series, this is a stand alone book. In fact, it is the first book I've read by this author, but it won't be the last. I'm adding her to my must read authors' list.

Cabe lost his fiancé to an IED and is not really looking for a relationship but when he meets Amy, his feelings are totally different than they have ever been. Amy wants to take it slow and wait until after the investigation is over. But they can’t keep their hands off each other but they still keep their relationship on the down low.
Amy gets chosen to deal at private parties and then is invited to deal on a yacht. They think this is how the women are disappearing and Amy is about to become one of them. Can Cabe and his team save her before she’s sold to human traffickers?
Best story ever. Plenty of action. The sex is WOW. The characters are strong and lovable. Will keep you up reading all night. I can’t wait for Ms. Cole’s next book. They make you feel like you’re right there with them.
