I'm really enjoying the world of Eagle Security and have definitely been looking forward to Cabe's story because of the high angst factor!  (I'm a firm believer that angst is good for relationships...at least for me reading about them, maybe not so much IRL though.)  After the death of his fiancée Jess on active duty in Afghanistan, he has pretty much shut down his personal life, focusing instead on his friends and their work as the one assignation he had left him with feelings of guilt.  When he meets Amy in a bar there is mutual interest, but the knowledge that it was what would have been Jess's 30th birthday causes him to run out on her.  (Not the best way to handle things, but I'll cut him some slack!)

Of course as it turns out, Amy is an FBI agent and she is assigned to look into a possible trafficking and money laundering operation run out of a local casino.  As the daughter of a poker pro, she has the skills needed to infiltrate as a dealer and it allows her to work on a case that really hits home for her.  (Her mother disappeared when she was a child and was never found.)  As part of the investigation, the FBI is teaming up with the CIA and a group of contractors-Eagle Security, and specifically Cabe.  Their partnership starts off strained, but as time progresses and danger increases, of course that doesn't last long!

The background of the casino world was fascinating as I'm not a fan and had no idea how it all works, though I do think some of the explanation could have been cut down just to save time and move the story along faster,.  Also to me it seemed like there was more investigation/suspense than there was romance so I wish there had been a better balance, but I did enjoy Cabe and Amy's journey to a relationship and eventual HEA.

As this was an ARC, there was a formatting issue that made it difficult to read in that there was no spacing between scenes so sometimes it wasn't clear that it was the end of one and the start of another.  Hopefully this is fixed in the final version, but overall I did enjoy the read.  I don't know if Scarlett plans any future outings with the Eagle Security team, but I look forward to reading them if there are more!

Thanks to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for the chance to read this early!

The always amazing Scarlett Cole is back with Deep Cover, book 3 in the Love Over Duty Series and this is the book I’ve been waiting for and it absolutely did not disappoint.

It’s not a secret that I’m a huge fan of this author and Deep Cover again highlights why I am. I was 100% hooked from the opening pages to the very last that I turned with a big fat happy sigh of satisfaction. And okay, maybe a big fat grin too. I freaking loved this book.

When I say I’ve been waiting (sort of patiently) for this book, I’m not kidding. When we first met Cabe I was drawn to him and after reading his two buddies get their HEA I was desperate to see Cabe get his. I knew he would need a strong heroine and boy did he find the perfect one in Amy.

I adored Amy from her first introduction and knew she would be the perfect match for Cabe. She was strong, independent and tough. Add in a kick ass attitude and it was a no brainer. Pair her with Cabe, an ex-Navy SEAL, hard as nails but with a broken heart and you can see why I say these two are a formidable paring.

From the moment they meet, you can feel the chemistry and when they are assigned to the same case, you know that the sparks are going to fly and caution will be thrown to the wind as they fight their feelings and the pull of attraction and when that line is crossed, there’s no going back no matter the stakes.

I love how the author wraps up the over arcing storyline in this book but still manages to inject a new connection to it at the same time. It will keep new and old readers glued to the pages.

Not to mention that the other guys in Six and Mac feature heavily in this story as they have in past books. There is one scene that is most memorable thanks to Six being himself and pushing Cabe’s buttons as only a lifelong friend can do. You will know it when you get there. Add in watching these alpha men plan a wedding (yes, they do everything, and it has some hilarious moments) and seriously this is why I hooked.

I truly hope this is not the end of this series. There are a lot of other characters that need a book, just a suggestion. And yes, I’m just that greedy I want more. Well played Scarlett Cole, well played indeed.

This series can be read as stand-alone book, but truly do yourself a favour and read them as a series. You will be as addicted as I was to them.

Cabe Moss is living in the past, mourning the death of his fiancé, the one true love of his life that he was powerless to protect. He can’t allow himself to care for another person, who routinely puts herself in danger. This causes problems when his next mission involves FBI agent Amy Murray, the first woman who has captured his attention. Gripping thriller with an interesting backdrop. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

This is the first book I have read of Scarlett Cole. It is a pretty good story. Cabe and Amy fall quickly for each other while on a dangerous assignment. Having lost someone he loves previously, it is hard for him to watch Amy put herself in danger. It his respects her enough to support her.

A few things to note, I thought it was a little I’ll thought out that Amy would go undercover as a casino dealer when her father is a world famous poker player. A picture of her father and her in a gambling magazine is what blows her cover. Also, I would have like for there to have been more information regarding her mother’s disappearance. She supposedly leaves to get more eggnog, but it is stated later that she already had a large amount. It left you thinking that there was more to her disappearance then met the eye.

This is a great addition to this action packed romantic suspense series, a real page turner that takes the reader to the heart of the action, immersing you so it is easy to feel the story coming to life in your imagination. It is the third book in the series and, whilst I suspect it could be read as a standalone, I enjoyed knowing the events from the previous stories and meeting many of the familiar characters again.

Cabe, Mac and Six are ex Navy SEALs who have set up their own company, Eagle Securities, and are frequently called upon by government agencies to assist or take over some of their operations. In this story, the team are working on a multi-agency investigation, endeavouring to bring to justice the perpetrators of crimes the team uncovered in the earlier stories. This time it is agreed that Amy Murray, a feisty FBI operative, will work undercover in a casino whilst Cabe acts as punter and both strive to protect each other whilst also hoping to uncover just how the Casino is the hub for illegal operations. Neither anticipated the attraction that grows between them and both, for their own reasons, try to resist it. Can they complete their mission and stop the illegal activities whilst also being distracted by the feelings developing between them?

The story has a plethora of different threads running through it which the investigations slowly reveal more information about. Cabe is still grieving over the death of his fiancee in a military operation two years ago and feels guilty about being attracted to Amy. Amy was the victim of sexual harassment in her previous job and is wary of any interactions with men she's working with as a result of that. There are plenty of problems to be overcome and the story has suspense filled moments along with quick thinking responses and some humorous scenarios, too. I thoroughly enjoyed escaping into this book and have no hesitation in highly recommending it and the whole series!

I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

I haven't read anything by this author before, but after reading this story, I want to read Six and Mac's stories. Six, Mac and Cabe have been friends since childhood and now they work together. Cabe has just been existing for the last couple of years. Since his fiancée died. Six and Mac have found their forever mate and Cabe doesn't want to be jealous, but he is a bit lonely. One night he sees Amy in a bar and starts a conversation, but he just couldn't stay around her because he felt disloyal to his dead fiancée. Cabe and Amy meet later and have to work together to take down a money laundering ring and find some missing women. As they work together, their feelings grow. They have to put everything on hold until they are finished with their mission. Amy is put in a dangerous situation and he will not let anything stop him from keeping her safe.

"It was wrong to think about her in any other way than as his colleague, but somehow that message had yet to reach his dick."

Being a sucker for broken bad boys I've been waiting for Cabe's story. I met him while reading Final Siege as a standalone which gave me just enough info about him to intrigue me. His past is clouding his future, but he doesn't let that stand in the way of doing his job. The loss of his fiancée has left scars deeper than the physical ones and he's not looking to go down that road again. But he can't deny that his body and his brain are drawn to FBI Agent Amy Murray. His best friend, "Six had always laughed at the way Cabe had found women's IQs way more interesting than their bra sizes." Amy had both brains and beauty, and she was off-limits, at least while they were working undercover on a case. But his dick still hadn't gotten the message...

I really enjoyed the witty banter between Cabe and his partners who work with him in the security firm they started after leaving the military. They have been friends since they were kids and their families are all close to each other. Add that to the fact that they served together as SEALs, their bond is strong. That connection that they share makes them a force to be reckoned with when they are on a case, as they are able to communicate without words. So what are the chances he'll be able to keep his attraction to Amy a secret?

I can't resist a good crime story so Deep Cover was a real treat for me. I totally got into the details and my heart was racing as the characters were thrown into danger. The combination of sexual tension and suspense was an explosive cocktail that I was totally on board for. And the undercover persona that Cabe & Amy had to adopt during their investigation was very exciting. The author did an excellent job of drawing me into their cover, and I just soaked up the lessons they learned to play their parts. I felt like I was right there, mentally wearing all black and listening as they shared intel, ready to run to the rescue if they were detected. Yeah, I'm badass in my imagination. What a ride, I didn't want it to end. Now that it has, I'm ready for whatever adventure the author takes me on next. The line forms here...

Action filled nights and loved filled moments bring us full circle in book three of the Love Over Duty series. By this story Cabe’s back story is well developed, as is the ever strong friendship and talents of the three former Seals. This story could be enjoyed as a stand-alone, but to truly understand the relationships, the build up of this operation, the humor and the company, I would recommend reading these books in order. We meet Amy right away and she is a strong female who is the epitome of intelligent and fearless, aka a perfect match for Cabe.

SC has created a fun and well developed world that also has its intense moments that bring suspense and action to a fantastic family and friendship circle. The secondary characters are just as rich and I loved learning about the pit boss and card games, Amy’s family, Cabe’s mom, how the wedding planning went for Lou and Six, and the overall imagery of all the different casino’s, yachts and Russians! This series, but especially this book, really struck me with all of its details and balance of poignant, steamy, snarky, relatable and intense moments with all the characters. Some of my favorite scenes dealt with imagery and growth with the butterfly, sunshine, the invisible photographer shot, etc. Great series, couples and story!

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the chance to read this story and share my opinions!

Since discovering Scarlett Cole a couple of years ago I have read every book she's written and she has yet to let me down. This book is another in a long line of fantastic reads from her. It's the third book in the Love Over Duty series but it is easily read standalone. As with the other books in the series it is action packed, has a romance that is sizzling, and definitely leaves you wanting more. Although we've met Cabe in prior books we really get to know him in this one and he is definitely worth getting to know. You don't want to miss this book. It is excellently written, has nail biting suspense, and swoon worthy characters making it an entertaining read. I highly recommend it.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "DEEP COVER" Amy Murray is an undercover operative with the FBI and she has to work with ex-Navy Seal Cabe Moss who had lost his fiance which had nearly destroyed him. Cabe will always come when called for duty at any cost he has to admit to himself that he finds Amy very sexy, fierce and he wants something more from her this is a very exciting entertaining, interesting, intriguing drama filled action packed story with some very hot steam scenes the storyline was great and the characters were terrific loved the chemistry between Amy and Cabe I definitely recommend to get this book you won't be disappointed.

Cabe has watched his 2 best friends and partners in business fall in love. He had that once upon a time, but 2 years ago his fiancee was killed by an IED overseas while on active duty. When he gets a job to work with the beautiful Amy from the FBI, he can't help but fall for her. Amy is tired of guys who hate that she has a job where she puts her life on the line day after day, but when she meets Cabe, she realizes that there are still guys out there that don't feel intimated by her. Even though it is dangerous for them to work together and sleep together ... they feel it is worth the risk.

This is a high action romance that will have you wondering what's gonna happen next. I just loved how things just seemed to click for Cabe and Amy ... I thought they were really good together and that they understood each other like they had already been together forever. And of course, who doesn't love a strong alpha who has a protective side. Great addition to a great series.

I received an ARC courtesy of St. Martin's Press through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

I’ve really enjoyed Scarlett Cole’s Love Over Duty series, because I’m a sucker for redemption and second chances. As an overarching series, redemption comes in the guise of three friends who joined the Navy to live out the dreams of their childhood friend who died when they were teenagers, and then formed Eagle Securities when they left the Navy SEALs. DEEP COVER picks up with Cabe Moss and FBI Special Agent Amy Murray, and their roles on a joint task force that’s building a RICO case for money laundering in casinos and a series of women who’ve been kidnapped from one of the casinos under investigation.

Cabe is coming off the double-whammy of his fiancée, Jess, being killed in action in Afghanistan two years ago, and a mission Eagle Securities just wrapped up that’s gone FUBAR as the result of bad intel from the CIA. And Amy is newly relocated from Atlanta to San Diego after a situation where a senior agent sexually harassed her for eight months, and she finally filed charges against him. Both could use a break.

Professionally, Cabe is on pointe; romantically, he’s on pause. When he meets a beautiful woman in a San Diego bar on Jess’ birthday, he initially asks her out … but he isn’t able to follow through with her and bolts before she can rejoin him after updating her friends on her plan to hook up with him. Two days later, he formally meets Amy while leading his team into the FBI’s conference room where a joint task force is convening. Determined to not show any outward reaction, both focus on the meeting long enough for it to break, and then he apologizes for being a douchebag and ditching her. But having listened to the plan and getting a little professional insight, both are willing and relieved to move past their initial awkward meeting.

Cabe’s team is focused on the money laundering, while Amy’s is focusing on the kidnapped women. To get the inside scoop, Amy goes undercover as a dealer at the casino where three women have disappeared, and Cabe is going in as a player.

Since her father is a professional gambler and she’s grown up playing card games, Amy’s basically a shoo-in for the Lucky Seven. She’s like catnip to Cabe — not only is she brave and driven, she’s smart. And he’s a sucker for intelligent women. But he’d fallen in love with a brave, intelligent woman once, whose death he hadn’t been able to prevent. He didn’t want to go down that road again.

But you can’t guarantee an endless number of second chances. Sometimes there’s only one … and you can’t let it slip through your fingers when it presents itself. It takes courage and trust to reach for that second chance, and a willingness to open your heart and let someone in. And neither Cabe nor Amy are cowards.

Eagle Securities has been trying to shut down a Russian syndicate for the last 13 months, a feat that’s carried them through the three-book series, and each time they get close to catching the organization’s lynchpin, Konstantin Sokolov, he gets away. Tension ratchets up as we see how far Sokolov’s syndicate extends, and Amy and Cabe dive deeper into their roles at Lucky Seven, pushing the boundaries of courage and trust (and love) to their limits. Cole weaves an exciting tale of suspense with a liberal dose of romance that’ll make your heart pound. What a great series!

This was the first book I have read by this author and I loved it! Evidently it is number 3 in the series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. I do wish I had the background on the characters, but I will go back and read the others. Great plot: I really enjoyed the inside scoop on Vegas dealers. I found this setting very interesting. And great chemistry between our H & h, which is always important in a romantic suspense novel. I am looking forward to reading the previous books in the series.

Another winner by Scarlett Cole. This is a great series & I would definitely put it up there as a favourite with Maya Banks’s KGI & Julie Ann Walker’s BKI. The emotions in this story were overwhelming at times with the haunted pasts of both Amy & Cabe. Both suffered emotional losses of loved ones but only Amy has a chance to make a difference for her loss. They’re brought together by a man hunt for different reasons. FBI agent Amy is searching for missing women & Cabe is trying to crack a money laundering ring. Eagle Security is helping with an interagency case bringing strong willed Amy in his sights & forcing him to move on with his life. The height of suspense is when Amy’s life is put in jeopardy in the line of duty. We get caught up in two chases, 1 the pursuit of justice & 2 the pursuit of love which were both written very well into one great book. Definitely recommend to read. Looking forward to reading more in this series.

This book kept me captivated from the beginning. Amy, new to the San Diego FBI office, wants to be respected after her experiences in Atlanta. Even though strongly attracted to both Cabe's looks and personality, Amy doesn't want to get involved personally with anyone until this case is completed. Stopping women from disappearing is of critical importance to her. Cabe, a former SEAL and a government contractor, is intrigued and attracted to Amy. After losing his fiancé, Cabe isn't sure if he wants to get involved with another woman in a potentially dangerous profession. Both of them end up working undercover in a casino suspected of women trafficking and money laundering. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher through Netgallery. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. Romantic suspense is my favorite genre and this book delivers that. This book does contain steamy scenes as well as a growing, loving and respectful relationship. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I plan on going back and reading the previous two books in this series. This book can be enjoyed as a standalone. I really enjoyed this book.

A new to me author and a series I haven't read before. Deep Cover by Scarlett Cole, book three in the Love over Duty series. Likable characters, great character development, a romantic suspense storyline. Looking forward to reading more by author and more in this series.

*I received this book via Netgalley for free for my honest opinion*

I absolutely could not put this book down! This was such a suspenseful enticing read.

FBI agent Amy and ex-SEAL Cabe ended up put together on a undercover case after a spark ignited in a bar. After they realized that they would be working together, they decided to try to ignore the spark they felt between them. Of course, that proves to be quite difficult. It created some lovely sexual tension.

The book was fast paced, suspenseful, full of angst, and had plenty of sexy scenes to go around. The writing was fluid and the dialogue was quippy and realistic. There were plenty of banter between Cabe and Amy that I loved. The chemistry the author created was quite wonderful. It made me want a Cabe in my life.

*There were some grammar errors but I assume it was because this was an ARC copy*

Scarlett Cole had me in the palm of her hand until I reached the 50% point, and then “fierce,” determined FBI Agent Amy Murray abandons her self-control, convictions, and previous indignation so she can have an ill-advised romp with colleague Cabe Moss, despite the fact that they had already accepted they would wait until after the assignment was over. You know, so they didn’t endanger the assignment. And then Scarlett Cole pretty much lost me.

If I had read what series Deep Cover was from, Love Over Duty, perhaps I could have anticipated this likelihood. Yep, because we all want to hear the motto: I’ll keep you safe unless I fall in lust then forgetaboutit.

Cole had written a very strong romantic suspense novel up to that point, from there it became sort of a typical romance. Cabe wouldn’t believe that Amy, a trained FBI agent, could handle herself. He needed to save her. She became victim-material then. She goes from being a character we admired to sulky and whiny.

As for the romance between Cabe and Amy, to me they didn’t have much chemistry. Cabe was still lost in thoughts of his fiancee who was killed in the Middle East. As a romance reader that’s a red flag right there. Wouldn’t it take something incredible, some divine interaction to make him move on from those memories so quickly? Because of that, the romance felt forced rather than organic, and the sex scenes seemed as if they were thrown in because they were suddenly needed, despite the fact that the novel would have been much better if they’d waited, built up some romantic tension, and then consummated. Anticipation is 25% of the fun (I’d say 50, but I’m not sure if that’s true, heh).

I must admit that I thought Scarlett Cole would join Laura Griffin on my list of favorite romantic suspense novelists, and maybe she still will. (I like to give an author the benefit of the doubt when a novel starts so well and read another of their books.) While Cole writes well and was informative providing interesting details, her characters lacked the backbone and professionalism, which I highly respect, of Griffin’s characters. Also, considering the suspense took a far backseat, think back of the bus backseat, Deep Cover falls more into the romance category for me.

The ex-Navy SEAL characters were pretty well-written. The camaraderie and dialogue were well-done, very realistic, and frequently humorous. I wish we had seen more of Amy’s father, the famous poker player (that’s a nice twist, no?) and her Uncle Clive, as they added a welcome touch of quirkiness.

Who will like this novel? If you are a firm resident of the Laura Griffin-style of romantic suspense camp, you may be disappointed by the wish-washiness of the characters and the lack of suspense of the suspense. However, if you enjoyed Katee Robert’s The Surviving Girls, this one could be a winner for you as it is less improbable and better written. Your enjoyment of this novel will most certainly depend on your expectations.

I was provided with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Who can resist a man who shows his tender heart? Definitely not me. Cabe, the main character in Deep Cover, is still grieving the death of his military fiance'. On the night of her birthday, his best friends meet up with him at the bar to help him during this vulnerable time. There, he meets Amy, but guilt over being attracted to her on this day, of all days, leads him to bail. Imagine his surprise when he realizes that Amy is going to be working with him undercover!

Despite a slow beginning, once the action begins, this story goes like Usain Bolt running a race.  Amy and Cabe have a speedy romance. The action is quick. Amy and Cabe have different goals to achieve in their undercover work (Think of this as an inter-agency team trying to cover all of the angles) but they don't cause conflict. Amy's goal of finding missing women who are taken for human trafficking causes some breathless moments towards the end of the book. I'm hoping, even though this is third book in a trilogy, that perhaps we are going to get more in this fantastic series.
