A lovely, inspiring book about life on a farm through the seasons, from food to gardening, crafts to rustic style. The photos are beautiful and the recipes healthy and seasonal. I only wish there were more recipes!

Shaye Elliott, blogger at The Elliott Homestead, shares a seasonal guide to rustic style and homegrown food in her latest book. Each season includes a list of what she's harvesting from her garden, interior design inspiration (textures/colors), floral and dining table arrangements, and of course, recipes. I like that she included simple DIY projects like aging terra cotta pots and creating a homemade terrarium and also had helpful home and garden tips listed throughout. She includes lovely food, family, and home photos throughout the book.
Overall, I enjoyed this extended look into her home but I wish more recipes were included. The focus is primarily on farmhouse/cottage decorating and entertaining rather than the food and homestead.
Seasons at the Farm is well written in the familiar style her blog readers have come to know and enjoy over the years and the book format is easy to follow by season.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

When I requested this book I was thinking it was something else. It was not what I was hoping for. It was so much more. It is a beautiful book from start to finish. Lots of good information. My only wish is that it had a couple more seasonal recipes. I would recommend this book for our store to carry.

I received a copy of Seasons at the Farm by Shaye Elliott. This book is beautiful! I loved all of the colorful photographs. It is broken up by season and discusses various gardening techniques, recipes etc....it is much more a book on gardening with DIY projects than a cookbook. Each season has recipes as well. The recipes are simple but delicious. I tried her "Favorite Potato Salad" and "Baked Apples." Both recipes were so good! I would recommend this book for someone who loves gardening and harvesting their own vegetables to make delicious homemade recipes.

Colorful book about the life of the farms. The author illustrates brightly the life around the farm through the year. Also, it is a collection of healthy and delicious recipes that can cooked for each season of the year.

I've followed Shaye Elliott's blog for years..and honestly I liked it more when she was first starting out. This book kind of pushes me away from her even more and that makes me sad. It seems more commercialized than what she started off as being. The pictures are very beautiful but the rest of it is just not cohesive.

Booksource: Netgalley in exchange for review.

Loved this book. While I received the e-book of this as an advanced read from NetGalley, I can't wait to see the finished version live and in print. It's a beautiful seasonal look at life on the farm. The activities and recipes are straight forward and they seem like things that I would actually try.

I didn't love this book and found myself skimming through it only stopping for an occasional recipe. I expected more about farming, more about cooking with fresh food, just plain more. It read like a blog. Amateurish, filled with boring and predictable details. The photos are nice. Not at all what I expected.

Seasons at the Farm by Shaye Elliott is a gorgeous book of photos, recipes, and suggested gardening for all seasons of the year. The photos are really amazing and the recipes look great, too!

Woman of my own heart! I don;t live on a farm (tho' I wish I did) but have the same sensibilities. I miss set tables on a daily basis, but do have dinners occasionally to set them. And flowers, candles, bowls of fruit, etc... I miss the charm of it all! I enjoyed reading about the year of the farm, the gardening, cooking, It's a pleasant , relaxing read with tips for decorating and cooking. Lots or recipes to try out for family and friends. Great read! nearly forgot- Loved the photos!

I received a DIGITAL Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
From the publisher ---
With more than 70 recipes, Family Table shares Shaye Elliott's bounty of favorite dishes that nourish her hardworking farm family every day. From dry-cured bacon made from pigs raised on the Elliott Homestead to sizzling steak with vinegar and tomato dressing, each recipe is about reviving easy, traditional food preparations for a more flavorful and healthful future. Forget expensive, exotic ingredients or fancy techniques. This farmgirl ain’t got time for that!
Shaye Elliott is the founder of the blog “The Elliott Homestead,” which she began in 2010 when her farm was but a dream. She and her husband, Stuart, are now developing their own little farm in the Pacific Northwest with their quiver of children, Georgia, Owen, William, and Juliette. Shaye spends her days writing, gardening, child and chicken wrangling, cow milking, pig wrestling, wine sipping, and dreaming. She is the author of From Scratch, Family Table, and Welcome to the Farm.

I found this book to have two titles: “Family Table- Farm Cooking from the Elliott Homestead” AND “Seasons at the Farm: Year-Round Celebrations at the Elliott Homestead” as well as two covers which is confusing for a librarian. Ergo, I am posting this review on Goodreads under both book's titles.

That aside this book has some great stories about the different seasons on the farm and many deadly yummy recipes that I cannot wait to make --- although I may not be able to choose which one recipe to start with. The ability to buy “out of season” produce year round will make this book usable year round to those without gardens - definitely a book for a cookbook lover like myself and others!
