Last Seen by J. L. Doucette was a entertaining and fast paced read. Though a bit confusing at first with the first person and third person POVs, the plot was interesting and the mystery played out well, the descriptions of the Wyoming winter felt very real. Will look forward to reading more in this series with Dr Pepper Hunt and Detective Antelope.

Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

This debut novel takes place in a small Wyoming town where a psychiatrist (Dr. Pepper Hunt) is working with law enforcement to investigate the disappearance of one of her patients. This small community in the rural northwest and its' Native American influence give the novel a cultural richness not often found in this genre. Many of the characters are interconnected so as the plot unfolds there is a complexity to the relationships that ultimately define the outcome of the story. The only real criticism I have is that the author could make it a bit easier on us by identifying which character is speaking when the narration changes - I often had no idea who was talking and this was distracting. I also figured out who the murderer was before they were exposed but that's not unusual for me and so I'm a lot more selective these days when reading thrillers/mysteries - I figure stuff out ahead of time. That said, I enjoyed the novel and if and when there is a second book in the Pepper Hunt series I will definitely read it. All in all an very good story.

Overall I really enjoyed this book, this was the first book of Ms. Douchettes work that I've had the pleasure to read. I love fast-paced mystery/thrillers and Dr. Pepper Hunt is definitely on the list of people to add the can't wait to see what happens next list! Kudos & I look forward to our next adventure Ms. Douchette :)

I found this suspense novel to be rather slow moving and sometimes I couldn't tell which character was "talking".
Pepper Hunt is a psychologist who works with a detective to solve the mystery of her missing patient a young woman named Kimmi. I ended up reading the beginning, skipping most of the middle and just going to the end as I didn't have enough patience to keep reading it.

I received this from netgalley
This book is about Dr. Pepper Hunt who is a psychiatrist with her own practise. She moves to Wyoming after a personal tragedy. The story is all about how one of her patients go missing and the events thereafter.
This was a quick read for me. I really enjoy a good mystery and after reading a lot of emotionally draining books this was like a breath of fresh air. It became a little too twisty and complicated towards the end but I could still understand what was going on. I wouldnt say I loved it but it was not too bad. I would give it 3 stars.
