This collection of excerpts from upcoming adult books was very much a mixed bag for me. Some of them I was devastated that I didn't have the complete book, whereas others I was counting down the minutes until I could move on to the next book.

There was a wide variety of reading material, quite a few contemporaries and a fair bit of fantasy. There might have been a couple of others from different genres, but those two comprised the bulk of the content. (Actually, now that I'm thinking there was some science fiction too.) I think that there is definitely something for every reader in here!

My personal favourites were: When Elephants Fly (contemporary), The Similars (science fiction), Ignite The Stars (outer space fiction), & That's not what happened (contemporary). These were my personal favourites, but there was a wide range and definitely something for everyone.

I enjoyed the fantasy reads too, but no one of them in particular really stood out to me, whereas these were the four which really made me want to continue reading the rest of the novel.

This was definitely helpful in helping me determine which of the upcoming releases I will look at reading and/or buying in the future, but I would not really recommend reading it just for enjoyment. It is a bit jarring reading just one to three chapters of a character and then having to move on to a new set. It was definitely helpful, but also hard to follow as an enjoyment read.

Overall, I'm rating it three stars because of the wide range in stories, and my wide range of opinions for each. Many of these stories had intriguing and enjoyable beginnings, and I look forward to seeing the releases of these novels.

Another good look at the upcoming YA titles to be excited for. I love that at the end of most of the excerpts, a link to request the full galley on NetGalley is included. Based on this sampler I think the title that I am most excited for is Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan!

Made me want to read more of The Shadow of the Fox. I love books that have worlds and characters based of off East Asian Culture, and this particular story captured me. So happy I was able to ckntinue reading it by being able to get an e'-ARC.

Also interested in more of Gilded Wolves. Historical fantasy is awesome, and I look forward to this book's release!

I like these samplers, as they give me a chance to see what is coming out next and what I might be interested in. They're also great for getting a chance to see work by authors I might not normally pick up. This sampler was great for all of that, although I didn't find a whole lot of upcoming books in this particular one to add to my TBR. There were a few that still piqued my interest, or that I was already looking forward to. There were a couple in this one that seemed more middle grade than YA to me which surprised me.

I have never seen a book similar to this before. My tbr pile is now even bigger! Some most anticipated are Wildcard,Escaping Houdini, Queen of Air and Darkness, and Dry.

These Buzz Books are gonna be all the rage. This book shows snippets of upcoming books that are predicted to be hits. Some, I admit, might not be what I expected, but there is something for everyone in this compilation. My favorite by far is Julie Kagawa, but I liked each author's content. I definitely would recommend these pieces to people I know in the reader community, and the book groups I belong to. I love sharing books and have a love of reading, and I know others that do as well.

I really enjoyed this collection of previews. There was a substantial enough portion of each book that I really got a feel for what each one was like, and whether or not it was for me. In fact, a bunch of these books I’ll definitely be looking to read in the near future. I thought I’d highlight a few:
Sadie by Courtney Summers:
As someone who absolutely adores podcasts, I was already incredibly excited for this book. After reading the excerpt in this preview I know I will be picking it up ASAP. The writing style was perfect and I really felt like I was experiencing an amazing true crime podcast. I think it’s very difficult to transfer radio or podcasting to page, while keeping the same emotional impact, but I truly felt like Courtney Summers had it all figured out.

Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan:
Not only is Natasha a sweetheart, but man, can she write! The plot to this one really intrigued me, and I love that it has tons of representation in it (happy pride month everyone!) This is my current read now, as I was lucky enough to get a copy at book con, and I am loving the rich imagery.

That’s Not What Happened by Kody Keplinger:
This one blew me away. From the first few lines I was hooked. I think the mystery and intrigue grabbed me, and I stayed for the characters interaction with each other, and the realism I felt. It was like stepping right into these relationships and exploring the world as the main character, and it was really powerful. I can’t wait to read this one.

Ultimately this was a GREAT preview. I loved so many of the books, and I’m really looking forward to reading them in the upcoming season.
