An interesting historical fiction book that takes a look at a moment in Helen Keller's life that in my opinion is widely unknown. With her typical companion under the weather, a new one is brought in and he is male and their connection is intense from the start.

For me the thing I loved most about reading this book was the inside look at Helen's life and how isolating being both deaf and blind at the moment that she was alive. To live with both of those handicaps without the technology and the things we have now and to be a trailblazer was a blessing and a curse. I enjoyed reading about her, but more importantly to learn about her life at a time which is basically unknown to most people.

The only book written by the author, I wish she would write another book with a deep dive into another female from history.
