This book is a great fit for young adult readers who enjoy stories about country music, famous families, and the complexities of love and friendship, all wrapped up in a contemporary, romantic enemies-to-lovers trope.

This book is a good debut – nothing crazy happens, but it’s a good romance with emotional depth and mostly likable characters. But that’s about it – it’s just going to be another teenage romance I read where alcohol was involved. Speaking of the alcohol, though, the whole getting Clay sober thing was too quick. He should have gone to actual rehab, not detoxed for like three days on a random Michigan farm and been all better. Frankly, I’m surprised he was singing in a bar 6 months later. And why did the guy never go to therapy? That should have been something the label forced on him before they took him back. And him being destructive was why he and Annie didn’t get together right away, I think, so magically, six months later he’s sober and all their problems are fixed? I would not trust a 19 year old to just be fine after that without some serious rehab and therapy. He clearly was better, but singing at a bar has to be hella triggering. There is even a line where he says “It’s better if I don’t even start” drinking – yeah, man, because you’re an alcoholic! But I digress. I just feel like that should have been explored more, which would have made the overall story more memorable and them finally getting together more powerful.

I really wanted to like this book. The synopsis held so much promise, but the book failed to deliver as much as I hoped for from it. I enjoyed it well enough, but with a few tweaks it could have been an even more enjoyable read.

First book that hooked me enough to finish in one sitting! I really liked this book—very yee haw too. Very addicting paired with tragic but brilliant characters you can’t help but root for, both separately and to end up together! Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a contemporary read.

I adored this contemporary YA debut by Erin Hahn, which feels to me like a great book to recommend for fans of the current DAISY JONES AND THE SIX TV show. I thought the voice was very compelling and it included such a cast of lovable, flawed characters. the setting was so vibrant as a music touring book with also a lot of love for the Midwest. One of my favorites!

You'd Be Mine truly had everything a music centered novel should have.

Swagger, swoon, an over abundance of feelings, lots of music, a little bit of star crossed lovers, and a love story that without a doubt spoke to me.

I loved everything about this book. I loved it so much that my daughter wanted to read it and she loved it as well. It was just one of those feel good books and it was a very quick read. I highly recommend.

This book didn't really catch my interest. I ended up DNFing it about 20% in. The story and characters were fine they just didn't seem to draw me in.

You'd Be Mine was a fun read about an up and coming country music star. It gave off Nashville (the show) vibes. The romance at the center was frustrating and sweet at the same time.

Really loved the side characters/ensemble cast in this book. Would high-key read a Kacey & Fitz romance, honestly. Didn't love the parental suicide storyline, like at all. I really struggled with that one as it felt...I dunno. It felt weird to me.

Not personally my reading preference as famous people in books normally put me off however this book is a lovely romance novel that delves quite deep into emotions. It is a very charming read.

Thank you to Netgalley and publisher for sending this book to me in 2018, I was a terrible reviewer at that time and had not reviewed books until July of this year (2021). I apologize for the VERY late review but I have read this book and can give it a proper review.

You'd Be Mine is about two singers: Annie Mathers, a country sweetheart who is up-and-coming in the country music business and Clay Coolidge, an established singer/star who is starting to fade. Annie has been warned about Clay and to not get mixed up with him and his reputation. But the stars align and both go on a grand tour together creating music and unexpected chemistry together.

I read this book a while back and I adore Erin Hahn's writing and character development. The story felt realistic in an unrealistic setting, and had many bittersweet moments between Annie and Clay and their families. I enjoyed the story, the writing, and plan on reading future books by Erin Hahn.

Annie Mather is the child of two country music stars, and Clay Coolidge is the newest hit in the country world. The problem is Annie wants to be nothing like her parent's fame turned them into and because of that has stayed away from it for the most part, and Clay reminds her soo much of her parents because of all the drinking he does.
Annie has two of her best friends and bandmates around for the ride, but Clay is all alone beside's one of his brother's old friends who keeps an eye on him.
The two of them together on stage are an amazing team and their voices blend well but outside of that they are being forced together by management and because of that has they are both confused about their own feelings and what they want out of life.

Can the two of them make it through the summer and get new recording contracts? Or will one of them self-destruct and the other turn away from it all? You'll have to read the book to find out.

Overall I enjoyed this book. Annie and Clay were two characters that despite both of them having lots of inner demons ended up making a good team in the end. They brought out the best in each other while also helping the other one deal with things from the past that they were pushing down. This book isn't an easy one to read as it deals with drugs, alcohol, and death but it's one that didn't shy away from the hard stuff and actually dealt with the problems those three things can create.

I want to read more by this author in the future as I did enjoy this book and hope the author dealt with such difficult problems. It was all done so well while also showing the realities of addiction and pressure from a young age.

What a wonderful surprise!

I loved this book. Way more than I thought I would and more than what I expected. There was a happiness that came with reading the story, the giddiness of when you love something, and an enchantment that seemed to envelope everything around me like Alice must have felt once she ventured into Wonderland.

The rockstar genre has been a favorite genre of mine, and a story about two country singers fits nicely into it.

Besides its being an emotional young adult novel, this book has a fantastic plot and likeable characters. The raw emotions that were expressed through the pages of this book were surprising.

You'd Be Mine has everything one would expect in a novel about music. The book was an emotional rollercoaster with expansive feelings and a budding romance.

I loved the whole cast of characters. They were sweet, charming, relatable, and likable, as well as caring to one another and supportive. The book also has its share of emotional turmoil but it was really satisfying how this issue is handled by the author.

It's a pretty amazing debut novel.

What really won me over in this book was the writing. I absolutely loved how witty, charming and smart it all was. The plot alone won't win me over if the writing doesn't make a good impression on me. From the first page on, I found myself HOOKED by You'd Be Mine!

If you love young adult romance stories that overwhelm you with emotions, this novel is a must-read. I laughed and cried while reading this novel, and cannot wait to find out what happens next.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me a copy in exchange for an honest review.

You guyssss. This book, y’all. I think I’m talking more southern and listening to more country songs than I was before this book, but other than that, I only have good things to say (😉). All jokes aside, this book is such a moving contemporary novel, and I am inspired by these characters.

Goodreads synopsis:
Annie Mathers is America’s sweetheart and heir to a country music legacy full of all the things her Gran warned her about. Superstar Clay Coolidge is most definitely going to end up one of those things.

But unfortunately for Clay, if he can’t convince Annie to join his summer tour, his music label is going to drop him. That’s what happens when your bad boy image turns into bad boy reality. Annie has been avoiding the spotlight after her parents’ tragic death, except on her skyrocketing YouTube channel. Clay’s label wants to land Annie, and Clay has to make it happen.

Swayed by Clay’s undeniable charm and good looks, Annie and her band agree to join the tour. From the start fans want them to be more than just tour mates, and Annie and Clay can’t help but wonder if the fans are right. But if there’s one part of fame Annie wants nothing to do with, it’s a high-profile relationship. She had a front row seat to her parents’ volatile marriage and isn’t interested in repeating history. If only she could convince her heart that Clay, with his painful past and head over heels inducing tenor, isn’t worth the risk.

While this synopsis is alright in describing the plot, it doesn’t quite do justice to the characters and the intensity of the themes in this novel. You’d Be Mine is primarily about stardom, specifically in the country music industry. Annie wants to perform for a living more than she can even express, but she’s terrified of becoming like her mother or having a relationship like her parents’. Hahn does a great job of unraveling both Annie’s and Clay’s backstories at a good pace throughout the novel so I don’t want to spoil anything, but let’s just say it’s completely understandable the extent to which Annie goes to remain separate from the industry and its temptations. On the flip side of that coin, the industry and it’s temptations is Clay’s escapism. Performing is his life, his soul, but he uses the distractions he sings about (i.e. booze and girls) to hide from the hurt and grief he hides deep within himself. The intensity of these themes takes this book to the next level. I really thought I was going into a fluffy contemporary romance with this one, and while some of the feels come from the sweet, sweet romance, most come from the brokenness of these two main characters as they wrestle with themselves and their pasts, and then their healing as they decide their futures are going to look different.

At first, I felt like their feelings for each other happened too fast. And I felt like their conflicts felt self-inflicted and unrealistic. But this book and these characters have so much depth. There’s so much to their relationship under the surface that actually makes it pretty darn realistic. It’s messy, and complicated, and so real. I am honestly in awe of this debut; the sheer amount of feelings I have even days after finishing it is just astounding.

So aside from its impressive complexity, I really did love the country music vibes. I am not a country music person myself, but I have a new appreciation for the unique atmosphere country music can create, and it was absolutely THE MOST FUN to experience Annie and Clay perform and make music on their tour. To balance the bad things about the music industry, this book shows a lot of the great things as well, and I have so much pride for them both!!!! 😭 There are a few songs written in as well, and that’s just, ugh all the feels.

This review has started to become incoherent and fangirl-ish, so perhaps that’s my cue to wrap it up 😂. This debut is incredible. It’s meaningful and cute and inspiring and funny and altogether just a fantastic journey. I am truly obsessed. I recommend this to all contemporary readers, and readers who love music!! But actually, I really recommend it to all of you...

I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.

This was a really fun and sweet young adult romance that hits all the right notes (no pun intended). Set in the world of country music, we're immersed in the summer tour of these two young country superstars - and I had to keep reminding myself that they're all under 20! It made me want to pack my bags and head to Nashville.

I struggled very hard with this book. It was a contemporary romance based in country music with younger characters. Both singers on a summer tour, one is a the daughter of two legends Annie, and Clay is the next big thing in country music. I did not connect with this story, I just don't think it was the book for me.

I appreciate the ARC from Netgalley and the Publisher.

Erin Hahn’s debut was a great surprise. Her characters felt so real, like you were reading the diary of real stars, their craft and experience so genuine you feel like you could turn on your TV and stumble across one of their music videos. I genuinely enjoyed both of the leads. My heart broke time and time again for Annie and fell for music’s bad boy Clay. This book is going to stay with me for a long time and I am so, so, so excited for further works from Erin Hahn.
