This book felt like an old school Taylor Swift song in the best ways. The romance was so sweet and honest and felt real, and the supporting characters were also so fun and cute. I absolutely loved the summer road trip and country music vibes. This was one of those stories you just wish you could live inside.

I love stories about music and I love stories about love. Put them together and it's a must read for me. Erin Hahn has such a stellar YA voice and she writes Annie and Clay so distinctly. I felt each of their own goals and stakes so perfectly. It was enjoyable to be immersed in the world of country music and even a hint of the more relevant age of YouTube stars. And I loved to see the characters grow and figure out who they are at such a pivotal time in their lives, even though their situation was not so normal. The prose and the lyrics were so lovely, there were quite a few sections I would go back to re-read.

The concept of the book sounds amazing. Gives you reality TV show vibes. Charming. Sweet. I really enjoyed it. Would totally recommend to others.

Wow this was fast paced, full of music, drama and all the heartbreak of a great reality television show featuring (fictional) famous people. Occasionally (often) this was like a train wreck and I could not look away, so wrapped up in how this hot mess was going to end. FYI, there was lots of hot button triggers in this story including drug and alcohol abuse as well as suicide, so this is not for the younger readers.
Keep in mind that I am not even a little bit a fan of country music, but I was so into these two country music stars and the battle of one intense summer.

The story is dual narrated by Annie and Clay, alternating voices at chapters (and I recommend the audiobook if that is your thing since there were 2 narrators).
I will be perfectly honest though, I was not a huge fan of Clay as a romantic interest for Annie. He was great for reality tv drama, but not for her, she is way too good for him. He was an alcoholic manwhore who was basically an ass every chance he got (to everyone) and I didn't like or relate to him at all.
Annie on the other hand was sweet, all goodness and light and I wanted so much more for her from a romantic partner than this guy- I mean at least 75% of the book he was sleeping with at least one other woman while being drunk and mean. The romance between them reminded me a little bit of the dynamic of the movie Grease, where I was afraid I was waiting for the good girl to become bad instead of the bad boy becoming better - but then it altered, and a certain bad boy tried to be better (baby steps, ok). Yes it was a super slow redeeming process, but by the end it was just about perfect and romantic and swoony- and an emotional roller coaster where you might need some tissues.

This book legit has the best ending of any book I have read recently. It was all my wish fulfillment rolled into one happy package and filled me with the warm fuzzies. If you are looking for an intense, drama and angst filled romance with a country music background, look no further.

This book had a really promising concept, but I don't think it quite executed on it. I didn't really get a sense of Annie as a character until I was already most of the way through the book, and the tone was generally inconsistent. The characters changed their minds about things so many times that I just wound up confused about who wanted what when. All of this makes it sound like I didn't enjoy reading it - I did, but not as much as I wanted to.

CW: past parental death (one drug overdose, one suicide), past sibling death (military), underage alcoholism, discussion of drug addiction

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

Annie and Clay make (country) music together in this romance that's a little dark. There are themes of addiction, grief, loss, and faith wrapped up in their story, set in Nashville. I appreciated that it wasn't completely what I expected and would recommend it to fans of country music and romances and anyone who thinks they already know what the music scene in Nashville is all about -- because they would be wrong!

This is a debut novel about two adolescent country music stars who have experienced tragedy and reacted in different ways. Annie is the daughter of two country music superstars who is haunted by their deaths. Clay Coolidge has been acting out to hide the pain of losing his brother, infuriating his record label. If they go on tour together, he can repair his image. The fans love them together but neither has the maturity to make a relationship work. Can this high-profile relationship. survive - and should it?

An entertaining read if you like a lot of angst with your YA romance.

*I WAS PROVIDED A DIGITAL GALLEY VIA NETGALLEY IN RETURN FOR MY HONEST REVIEW. THIS DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION*

DNFed at 4%

I'm not even disappointed by this one, seeing as I hadn't liked MORE THAN MAYBE either. I'm just going to safely assume that none of Erin Hahn's books are for me. Everything about them just fell flat and became inconsistent, even at that short percentage marker. I'm not entirely sure what I was thinking when I first requested this book last year, but seeing as I don't even like country music, there's definitely no solid connection for me in this book.

This book started out kind of slow for me but it picked up enough that I didn't give up on it. This book follows Annie a girl whose parents were part of the music industry while she grew up. She has the chance to follow in their footsteps and struggles with that choice, while she enjoys the chance she is trying hard to not make their same mistakes. Can she handle Clay the playboy singer she's headlining for? Clay is exactly like her parents in most respects. He has lost his entire family at a young age and deals with it by drinking and playing the part of the playboy star. Can Clay and Annie find solice in each other? Will Clay bring her out of her shell and will Annie help him through the tough times he's working through? Will they survive each other?

There were moments in this book that bothered me. I mean these people are all under age and drinking like crazy. This bugs me. I thought this was a YA book but if it is I feel like it should be more of a NA book. The plot is good but the topics are more NA in my opinion. The author had a good writing style but I felt like the pacing was a bit wonky. It would go from really slow to moving too fast to a normal pace for me. We went from everybody enjoying their time together to these heavy floods of information that don't really fit the pace it was moving at.

Needless to say I struggled but I enjoyed the plot. I would give it a 3.5 star rating overall. I would also be interested in trying something else by the author one day.

I enjoyed this book so much from start to finish. If you are a fan of celebrities and the music scene - then this read is for you! The storytelling from this author keeps you turning the page. It's a bit predictable, but overall a sweet, quick and fun read.

While this did seem like a great book and I'm sure many would enjoy it, I just wasn't able to get interested in the story and wasn't quite motivated to finish the book.

Loved this.
Very likeable characters.
Easy to read.
Think I’ve read it twice 🤣
It was definitely a love story for the ages. I would recommend to anyone who needs an easy read, love and romance book.
Annie and Clay are, in my opinion, the dream team.

This book was an absolute joy! The characters, setting, writing, everything. It felt like I was on a country music tour. Every detail felt right. Hahn is an author I’m excited to keeping reading. She is a breath of fresh air to the YA writing community!

I have read books similar to this before and this book would have 100% worked for me 3 or 4 years ago. Now I'm kind of just over these stories. I just don't really care for the hero so this one did not work for me.

"I'm not good enough for her," I say.
Lindy's lips spread into a blinding smile, and she taps the table with two fingers. "That's the best thing you could've said. Never forget it. If she chooses to love you anyway, don't you dare let her go" (chapter 25).

Clay and Annie are compared to Johnny Cash and June Carter (LOVE!) but real life doesn't look the same as it does on stage. They have a whole mess of things they're working through, which means they should stay far away from each other, right? Just focus on their music and making the label happy. As the tour progresses and they start opening up about their hurts and their pasts, it become harder and harder to keep priorities straight.

You'd Be Mine is all of the swoony, sunshiny, romantic, sad, deep country sounds all wrapped up into one sweet story that sticks with you (like a country song--duh). It has angst, heartbreak, forgiveness, and new love. Even just thinking of the story is like being reminded of a friend. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go put this book on my wishlist and listen to "I Love You This Big", which was our first dance song, because country music makes me think of my husband.

"This summer is about to be death by a thousand paper cuts."- Annie Mathers

Clay Coolidge is the current hottest country singer. He's got a party image with all his songs about drinking, and his actual drinking. Needles to say, his bad boy image isn't an act. After a bar fight with the wrong guy, Clay is given an ultimatum- get Annie Mathers to agree to a summer tour with him or kiss his record deal goodbye.

Annie Mathers grew up in the spotlight. Before her parents died tragically, her mother was one of the biggest country singers around. But the fame ruined her, so Annie doesn't care much for the spotlight. Singing little shows and recording her music on YouTube is enough for Annie until Clay shows up.

Annie knows he's a bad boy but she knows she won't be able to resist him the whole summer. And the record company setting them up as a modern day Johnny and June doesn't help any.

And obviously, along with fighting their attraction to each other, there's gotta be some struggles. Both have things in their past that they've never gotten over, which makes them both guarded.

The Good
I liked You'd Be Mine. It was a sweet summer romance perfect for reading in the afternoon with the a/c on. I went into it thinking that it was going to be a teen version of "A Star is Born" and that I'd be doing a lot of crying. I didn't do so much crying, but I did love the story.

The Bad
Clay is described as being from a tiny Southern Indiana town where the stops signs end then you count cornfields to find your way. I lived in one of those Southern Indiana towns, so I wondered if it would be a made up one like Pawnee, or if it would be a real one that I knew. It was Indianapolis, one of the largest cities in Indiana. Yes, there are still working farms in Indiana, but it is not known for it's many cornfields, and it's Central Indiana, not Southern Indiana.
Just like in Parks and Rec, I was always excited for it to mention somewhere familiar to me, so I was bummed it wasn't a real small town. But I liked the book well enough this was the big bad for me.

4/5

I enjoyed this book so much!! It deals with some pretty heavy and painful subjects, but somehow still manages to deliver those fun summer country vibes my life is currently missing.

I love Clay and Annie. They both have pain and darkness in their past and both seem to be dealing with it in completely different ways. Once their paths cross on this summer tour, they are unable to stay away from each other.

Annie has to deal with the complicated feelings she has towards her parents and Clay needs to decide what his life is going to be, what path he's going to take. He's grieving and self destructing and it's so painful to see.

I love that they give each other time. Clay needs time away to really figure himself and his life out and he takes that. He steps away from the limelight and really puts in work on himself and his family.

This book was so good! I can't wait I waited this long to read it!!

This is a cute summer read that you'll absolutely fall in love with. But do you have the heart to handle the intensity of this novel? This is a book you ought to pick up if you like some light with a touch of depth. I'm sure you'll love it.

I will not be reviewing this book. It is a book that I typically would gravitate to, however, for some reason my timing is off, and it has not held my interest. instead of giving it a poor review, I will read and review at a later time. thank you.
