The Blurb :
Tasha knows that she should count her blessings: married for eleven years, mother to three healthy children, she should be content with her lot. However, feelings of frustration have settled over her like a dark cloud. Despite living under the same roof and sharing the same bed, Tasha has never felt so distant from her husband, Charlie. She feels worn down by the mental load of motherhood, drowning in the never-ending chores that keep the family and household afloat. Most of all she worries that her once happy marriage is slipping away from her.
Tasha longs for something to change, but when change comes calling will it really be the answer she was hoping for? And is it possible to fall in love with the same person twice?

My Thoughts :
Tasha and Charlie have been married for 11 years and have 3 children. Tasha used to be a Doctor but she decided to be a stay at home mum and raise their children.
As the years pass, Tasha is frustrated and fed up with being taken for granted by the whole family.
Charlie’s work takes up most of his time and this in turn makes Tasha feel he is neglecting his role within the family.
Enter handsome neighbour Javier, hes everything Charlie isnt, attractive, attentive, romantic and sweeps Tasha off her feet. Tasha ends up doing the unthinkable and soon her life takes her on a journey of regret and guilt.
We delve into the repercussions of what Tasha has done when Charlie finds out about the affair.
I got slightly fed up with the way Tasha carried on after her husband found out, some would say its realalistic but some would not.
Georgie Capron, has written a good story that leaves you wanting more throughout.
Looking forward to her next book.

I picked this book up because I love family drama. The conflicts are mostly relatable and realistic and I really enjoy reading them.
As soon as I started, I connected with Tasha. She reminded me very strongly of my mother and her struggles were universal. The neverending household jobs, looking after the kids, not getting the support you need from your husband, the lack of attention - these are problems faced by women all over the world regardless of their circumstances.
The incidence which happened to test Tasha and Charlie’s relationship is something I usually don’t tolerate but while reading this book, I could really sympathise with Tasha and understand the events that led to it.
Now comes the parts I didnt like. Everything after this point was a huge disappointment. Tasha so far was a strong woman for me but after the incident she just turns into a grovelling door mat, which made no sense. I really really hated Charlie because he never even tried to have a honest discussion about anything and just takes everything for granted. I hated that relationship. It looked toxic rather than a good healthy partnership.
Another thing I found hugely distracting was the overflow of information. Each page was so dense with words and info, that was not really needed to push the story forward, that it took me double the time it usually takes, to finish the book.
Overall I didnt much like this book except for the 1st 25-30% and was a total miss for me.

Missing communication, developing distance, misinterpretations and mistakes drive this novel and mark the daily life of Tasha, mother of two, wife of eleven years. She feels disillusioned with her life, separated from her husband, Charlie, newly promoted in undercover police work. He cannot talk about his case and this drives a wedge further into the relationship. Enter Javier, handsome and attentive neighbor bringing with him the opportunity for disaster. Tasha falls into a onetime fling and her life implodes when Charlie finds out. The rest of the story revolves around their and the case Charlie is trying to solve.
The ending is crazy and totally unexpected!

I loved the cover of this book, it's simple but colourful and it's the colours that drew me in. I liked the blurb and was interested to see how it went. I'd never read a novel by this author before so wondered how it would go.

An enjoyable read but not one that I was in love with and rushing to finish. I liked the idea of overall story, which is what obviously made me want to request it, but I was a little shocked at how far Tasha pushed it and wasn't surprised at how that particular relationship ended up for her.

Don't get me wrong, I related to her character in parts, but I don't feel that the story needed Tasha to do that. Maybe it's because I don't agree with what happened I'm not sure but I just didn't like that part at all! The rest of the story I found engaging and interesting, and I did relate to Tasha in some ways.

Overall, not my favourite novel but I would be interested to read more by this author.

I have mixed feelings about this book. The main characters choices and emotions seemed to vary from one extreme to the other. So much time was spent with characters wallowing in self-pity and doubt, but the resolution was quick and seemed to come out of nowhere. I'm sure there are people who would enjoy this book, but it just wasn't for me.

I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't an author that I read before. The characters were very believable and I could see how Tasha could feel that she was being neglected by her husband, with such busy lives. I guess it was a bit twee in that she was a typical stay at home housewife, doing everything for her family and husband, but even in 2018 there are families that still live like that and you can certainly see why their lives may seem boring to others! It was a quick read. The story flowed well and the characters were enjoyable. A good holiday read.

This book has surprised me beyond expectations. I opened it for a realistic and sombre story which may require some time to finish. Sure, it deals with a serious theme, but the gripping language and narration won't allow you to put it down for a second. Consequently, my plans for the day has gone awry, and the notes I need to prepare are lying there neglected.
The story follows the perspective of Tasha who opted to become a stay at home mom since she didn't enjoy her profession as a doctor. But as years passed by, her husband and three children have begun to take her for granted, leaving her to wallow in a never ending frustration. Then she does the unthinkable. She sleeps with her neighbour Javier and the guilt set in. The plot plummets into action from there, following the repercussions of this deed and concludes with a very deserving end.
Tasha's story is not a singular one. It is not hard to relate to her feeling as we encounter many Tashas often in our lives. The book felt like a modern retelling of 'A Doll's House', reminding us once again that a woman also has a duty towards herself. She could never be complete just as a mother.
A well written, beautiful story that every woman should read.

I had mixed feelings about this book. I thought the plot overall was very relatable for many married women and what can happen over time with kids, mortgages, jobs, etc. So I loved the premise of it all but there was not enough built up to push this mother into an affair. I got she was frustrated and feeling unappreciated but it all happened very quickly. The one night stand with the neighbor lacked a connection and the ending was predictable. I got that she was "sad" over her husband leaving but didn't feel that she really worked on repairing this relationship- it seemed too easy. I really wanted to love this book but it was just ok for me.

Disappointing. The Distance Between Us is written from the well worn point of view of a disenchanted housewife struggling to run the house, and look after the kids while the husband neglects her and their marriage. The novel lacked depth and didn't really get going at all. It was all a bit predictable.

Devoured this book whilst sat on the beach in one afternoon... I think the story will resonate with many bored housewives who think the grass is greener !!! Tasha and Charlie juggle their hectic lives with 3 young children - Charlie’s working long hours makes Tasha feel unloved so in a moment of madness she falls into bed with the handsome neighbour ... what follows is a great story of dealing with the aftermath of cheating as Tasha realises Charlie is the love of her life, who she may lose due to one mistake

Georgia Capron has given a book like no other. It is a MUST READ for any happily married woman, I was so connected to this book I could not put it down. The lessons I learned were worth it even tho some weren't what I was expecting!
