I loved Grace and Everett's story!!

Grace will marry just about anyone to save her brother and Everett is the best of the bunch. But she wants a marriage of convenience as she doesn't trust anyone in the aristocracy. Everett needs Grace's dowry to save his family from creditors. They agree to marry, but both have conditions. The biggest one being that Grace must act as a loving wife for 6 weeks. Then Everett will let you live her life on her own. But what Grace doesn't know is that Everett has no desire to let her go. Can this marriage of convenience turn into one based on love?

This was my first book by Pendle and I loved it! I'm excited to see what she comes up with next!

Seducing a Wife.
A story with an interesting premise; a marriage of convenience, in name only, in exchange for a peer receiving half of his wife’s dowry. I really liked Grace, who was a strong woman who came up with a risky plan in order to rescue and be reunited with her four year old brother. Everett, a typically arrogant man, lies to her by omission and thinks to get his hands on all of her dowry by seducing her into making the marriage permanent but eventually comes through for her.

The tension is rife on the pages between Grace and Everett. Both are holding on to secrets and pain that is leading them to make bad decisions. The descriptive intensity of the writing is magnificent. The scenes are vivid and emotions are described in such detail that make them pop.

Earl of Westbury, Everett Hetherington, needs a wealthy wife to pay off the debts of his late father and brother and Grace Alnott needs to marry an aristocrat if she wants access to her dowry. These two strike a bargain--Grace will give Everett half of her dowry if he agrees to a marriage in name only. When Everett agrees, Grace feels she's on the right path to petitioning the court for the custody of her little brother from the abusive Lord Raynor although she fails to tell Everett what she's doing. Everett needs the other half of Grace's dowry to save the earldom and he sets out to seduce his in-name-only wife.

This plot device has been used many times, but I liked the twist Ms. Pendle used. Grace was hurt by a lord when she was younger and she has mistrust for them all. I really liked Everett. He was kind and compassionate and tried so hard to live within the boundaries of their bargain. The chemistry between Grace and Everett built slowly over the six weeks, but a misunderstanding could threaten their growing passion for each other. This book is a quick read and fans of regency romance should enjoy it.

I received a free copy from netgalley for an honest review. Six weeks with the Lord is a story about a marriage of convenience. There are lies on both side with Grace needing half of her dowry in order to gain custody of her little brother while Everett needs the money in order to pay off his father and older brother's debts now that he is the Earl. Marriages of convenience are a common theme in these books but i actually really like this one. The love that grew between Everett and Grace felt very natural over the six weeks they were married and of course there was a happily ever after.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Grace's father has recently passed. He stipulated in his will his daughter could not be a guardian for his four year old son and that she had to marry a peer in order to receive a dowery. Her father's intention appeared to be to force her to marry her brothers guardian. Grace wanted freedom and above all else to care for her brother. She searches the ton for a bridegroom who would marry her under strict conditions. Basically she wants half the dowery for herself and him to leave him alone. Her future bridegroom had a condition of his own: after marriage she had to live with him for six weeks.

Everett is marrying Grace purely for money. His family's cattle business is going downhill after a recent outbreak. It marry an heiress or go broke. He wants the full amount of money and manipulates his future bride into coming home with him. He also doesn't want his family or friends to know he is marrying for money.

Grace is a strong heroine and very compassionate. She knows what she wants and romance was never supposed to come into play.
Everett is stubborn and intense. He's willing to do anything for his family. They have great dialogue and when the two finally come together it's intense.

Overall, the book was spicy hot especially in the bedroom department. It was well written and overall I liked the book. I dislike the hero's family (his mother is horrible, arrogant, and misjudgeful). I really disliked the typically trope of the heroine seeing something incriminating and running away. I usually don't mind this in a plotline but I saw it coming for most of the book. It was disappointing. I would still recommend the book to any lover of historical romance.

A really lovely read, totally enjoyable. Well written and with sparkle.

I loved the story and I thought he was a wonderful character, complex and interesting just like Grace. There were many strands to the story and it was just so well done.

When Grace’s father’s will is read she discovers she has inherited nothing but her dowry which will only be a available to her if she marries a nobleman. He also names Lord Rayner as guardian to her baby brother, in the hopes she will marry him. As Rayner is not an honorable man, Grace looks for a noble who needs money and meets the Earl of Westbury. They strike a bargain for a marriage in name only but he requires she live with him for six weeks in which time he hopes to make it permanent. The book is a good read I would recommend it. I received a copy thru Netgalley.

Everett loves it when he brings his lady happiness, “I’m glad you liked it.” Everett’s expression seemed, for lack of a better description, smug. Then he was holding her hip with one hand, steadying her, and stroking her face with the other." I liked this book, Everett I loved, although at times the man's head was up his butt.

Grace Alnott, a wealthy merchant's daughter has arranged a marriage of convenience with the impoverished new Earl of Westbury, Everett Hetherington. Their agreement would serve both their purposes. Grace would like to honour her father's demand of marrying a peer, with misgivings, but her dowry's release is dependent on this and also to rescue her four-year-old brother from his unkind guardian. Everett will need Grace's dowry to help the bovine farmers from their estate and pay family debts he inherited. They did not stipulate everything in their written agreement, they are both keeping secrets from each other.

They agreed on six weeks to live together without consummation of their union. But they are physically and intellectually attracted to each other and have a hard time ignoring each other's presence. Until they did succumbed to their attraction, which started from simply sweet to absolutely steamy.

A marriage of convenience to start with and ended up falling for each other. This is good story-telling from debut author Eve Pendle. I just didn't understand why Grace didn't disclose to Everett at the first instance that she would like to rescue her brother! The 'grace' puns are either humorous or cringe-worthy. Eva Pendle can write good lines and really steamy scenes! I await her next book.

I volunteered to read an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley. My review is honest and all opinions are mine.

I received this novel from net galley and the publisher for an honest review. Thank you!!
Miss Grace Alnott needs to marry immediately to have access to her dowry. However, that dowry would belong to her husband. Grace's father owned and ran his own grocers. He wanted Grace to marry Lord Rayner, but she refused, believing herself to be in love with someone else and knowing Rayner's cruelty. In her father's will, he gave guardianship of her brother to Rayner and Grace will do anything to save him. She plans to marry and keep half her dowry so she and her brother can live away from England. Everett Hetherington needs money to save his estate and cover his brother's debts due to his father's poor investments. Everett is the new Earl of Westbury and needs a wealthy bride. He desires Grace the moment he sees her, before knowing of her dowry. He agrees to Grace's demands but adds some of his own. He lies to her about the extent of the debts, none of it his own doing. He has six weeks to seduce Grace to stay with him and give over the other half of her dowry. However, Grace is independent and intelligent, for she will do whatever is necessary to protect those she feels responsible for. Grace begins to fall in love with Everett, for she misjudged him. When Grace discovers Everett's deception, will she be able to forgive him and save her brother?

A lot of historical romances have "the impoverished lord marries an heiress to deal with debt" plot. This book is another of this list.

It was a fun book to read. A perfect setting or two strangers to get to know and fall in love, irrespective how they got there in the first place.
