Thankyou to NetGalley, BooksGoSocial and Michael E Thies for the opportunity to read a copy of The Trials Of The Core in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
I am the first to admit, even though I enjoy fantasy novels, I am very fussy with the fantasy novels I will read. I was drawn to this book by the cover, then the description. It was promising a lot, so I was curious to see if it delivered. And, OMG, it did.
I loved this book. The storyline was well written with characters that are engaging. I had trouble putting this book down.
If you enjoy the genre, then do yourself a favour and read this book. Be warned, don't expect to do too much else until you finish the last page. I certainly am looking forward to reading more from this author.

This book captured me from the start. It has similar characteristics to Hunger Games in that it features a group of specially selected contestants that go through a series of trials in order to be selected as apprentice to the Guardian of the Core.
This book is filled with twists and excitement, staying true with other superb books within the fantasy genre. The character development was fantastic, drawing me in to have an emotional attachment to each character. Those emotions ranged from adoring a select few, and utterly despising others. Their interaction and relationships with each other and the ruling guardian, Eska, really keep you intrigued and wanting more. I had a hard time putting the book down and breezed through it pretty quickly. The trials these characters go through test them in a wide array of tasks, testing their strength, smarts, and compassion. Overall, I give it 4 stars, as it really pulled me in and has me excited for the next books in the series. Michael E. Thies has delivered a gem for my fellow fantasy novel junkies, and I look forward to the next!!
