Although my interest slowly faded in anything that has to do with Bitcoin, this was a decent read. Quite resourceful and detailed and can be helpful for everyone who's interested in starting their own Bitcoin journey.

This book is the perfect introduction to everything about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. It is short, includes simple terminology and covers the basics about those new type of transactions. For instance, it provides details about the various cryptocurrencies available on the market, how the system operates, how safe it is, the steps of opening a coinbase wallet etc. Although the main audience is purposely American, it gives enough insights to the non-USA reader to figure out about the basics.

I thought this book was a good introduction to bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. While it was a bit short, it was useful for me as a beginner.

I voluntarily received a complimentary copy from NetGalley. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

Many thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I found this book shorter than I thought it would be (44 pages) and for it to be a shorter than average book it could have done with being more focused. There were references to wallets and data mining, which weren’t really explained so I couldn’t see what set this book apart from others in its field. If I were to buy a book on the subject, I would probably go for something a little longer but a book that breaks down the elements.

This book is a very practical guide to bitcoin and how to use it, with plenty of recommendations and guidance on security.

As an introduction for beginners, I was disappointed, though. Terms like keys and mining are used without first being defined and the writing is not as clear as it could be.

I wouldn’t choose to read it as my first introduction to bitcoin.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a very short book which I applaud because I believe when you have the message delivered to the reader loud and clear, any additional content is a distraction and a dilution. That said, I expected more content around the whole area of Cryptocurrencies, especially in the area of Blockchain and an explanation of how the security works. I am only learning about cryptocurrencies myself so I read this book hoping to learn new material.

The book is really about how to establish your accounts for dealing with cryptocurrencies, the different types including Bitcoin, a cryptocurrency Exchange, a Wallet, a Multi-currency Wallet, Custodial and Non-custodial Wallets and how to buy and sell cryptocurrencies. From this perspective, the book really delivers and has very useful information with examples and tables outlining the various options.

Perhaps it’s the title that is slightly misleading me, as it is more an operational or hands-on guide to dealing with cryptocurrencies. I had hoped it would explain the decentralised Blockchain database infrastructure, which is the underlying mechanism for all cryptocurrencies. It would also have been useful to explain in more detail how value is created within the different cryptocurrencies. My knowledge is limited but how would a cryptocurrency create its initial value? In some instances are miners creating value based on the technical solutions to major problems? Those Bitcoins etc. are the rewards which are then traded. The value to be retained within the currency as an asset. So many questions that I wish were answered.

In summary, if you only want an operational guide to cryptocurrency buying and selling and how to protect your investments then this book is good 5*. If there is deeper knowledge to be learned on blockchain and how the fund is actually created and sustainable, then this is missing. Probably 3.5*

Many thanks to BooksGoSocial Publishing and NetGalley, for an ARC version of the book in return for an honest review.
