While reading the summary, the concepts of a federal agent teaming up with someone who is kept locked up gave me a Psycho-Pass-esque feeling. Then when I read the manga there was a yaoi element added into the story.

The action sequences are few and simple yet they help portray the story being told. This manga is more about the lives of the characters than the crimes itself. There is some sexual content in this manga as expected of the yaoi theme; however, the sexual content is not explicit. I’m not sure how this will unfold in the next volumes as the relationship between Zeroichi and Tsukomo progresses.

If seeing the relationship between two people blossoms isn’t enough there are other elements that have piqued my interest. The first element are the characters. The two main characters, Hajime & Zeroichi, have an element of mystery to them that I wonder how they will unfold. The second element is the concept of Hangers. I wonder at what other characters and Hangers will appear in this series.

It seems like pretty typical boys love manga. The premise of the criminal/cop pairing is done a little differently. The second issue will really tell if the series will get my attention.

This is just the type of manga I love. The art is great, the story is solid, and the characters are interesting. It takes place in the future, in the year 107 A.S. (Anno Sciencia). The era of A.D. ended after a great plague killed much of the population, and people turned to science and technology developed nano-machine based drugs to enhance humans' ability to heal and resist disease. Some of these "nano-pharmaceuticals" can also give people enhanced abilities, but are also highly addictive and can make people "go berserk" and become criminals known as "druggers." "Hangers" are convicted druggers who have made a deal to work with law enforcement to help capture other druggers in exchange for reduced sentences. Because Hangers have dangerous abilities and are convicted criminals, they are paired with "Keepers," who act as partners as well as guards, although they're more like handlers or caretakers.
In this first volume of the manga, Hajime Tsukume is transferred from traffic duty to work with a Hanger named "Zeroichi." Zeroichi's name is literally "01," because he has no memory of anything before a year ago. Hajime is reluctant to become a Keeper, but he is drawn to the extra pay becuase he's deeply in debt from his mother's medical bills. Although Zeroichi isn't the easiest person to get along with, as he gets to know him, Hajime becomes determined to help him as well as himself by catching as many high-profile criminals as possible in order to reduce his 500+ year sentence.
The story is an action-oriented, buddy-cop, futuristic sci-fi adventure, with light shonen-ai elements. I don't know how Hajime and Zeroichi's relationship will develop in future volumes, but I look forward to reading more of their story for sure! I would judge the content of this volume as appropriate for 16+

This was super disappointing. The epub file was not even readable -- the font was blurry and illegible.

Sorry, I guess I shouldn't go by covers, but it is just so hard to resist when there is two hot guys on the cover. *fangirls*

Sadly this one wasn't that good, I dropped it about 1/4 in. It also didn't help it was barely readable, and the art was just grainy. Maybe if both those things were good I would have continued on in the hopes that the story and the characters would get better, but as it is I already had a burning headache and this copy made it worse.

The idea of using convicted criminals to solve crime sounds fun, and I quite liked it. That is one way to get the criminals to do something useful with their lives. Plus come on, two guys in a tiny room? I also had a laugh at how Hajime got all pissy when Zeroichi refused to eat the food and called it crappy. Gee, where I have seen that being said again? Ah yes, so many anime/manga. I get that food wasting is a no-no, but come on. :P

Then it got even worse when Hajime had some kind of magical stuff going on with his blood, and of course, Zeroichi has to save him by blowing up stuff. Oh dear lord. OK OK, it got better when the two kissed (YEESSSSSSSSSSS), but eh, I gave up not that long afterwards. Again, being able to read the book without straining my eyes would be nice.

So nice idea, plus I was definitely shipping Zeroichi/Hajime, but weird-ish story + unreadability = me going to another book to read.

I am choosing not to read this manga at this time. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read it.
