This picture book version of the introduction to Anne of Green Gables was simple, clear and charming. The colorful old-fashioned illustrations had a cartoon quality to them which did not appeal to this reviewer but that children may enjoy.

Is that an acceptable review? Well, I guess I'll give you a liiiittle more to go by.

I have been a devoted "Anne of Green Gables" fan since I was a young girl and still cherish her story. I even took some of my senior pictures with my copy of the book!

This adaptation is a beautiful read for girls and boys at a beginning chapter book level. There are many gorgeous illustrations and the pages are not overwhelmingly filled with text. I would definitely purchase this book as a gift for the readers in my life!

Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorite books. I loved this version. The illustrations are wonderfully done and colorful. This is also a condensed version of the book (only really the first few chapters of the first book) that I think is great for younger kids to read.

Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery is a renowned children’s classic and this adaptation by Kallie George is the first in a new series for early readers. While the original Anne is intended for middle graders, Anne Arrives is written with even younger readers in mind.

With its illustrations and simple vocabulary, George has taken the first few chapters of Anne of Green Gables and made them accessible to a whole new audience. Holding this book back from absolute perfection, are the illustrations by Abigail Halpin. Those of Anne and the scenery are lovely, but other characters, especially Marilla, appear overly harsh.

This is a really beautiful introduction to the classic "Anne of Green Gables." It covers about the first quarter of the original in an abridged format that still pulls many quintessential elements and lines from L.M. Montegomery's Anne.

The illustrations are stunning and truly capture Anne, her whimsy and the beauty of Green Gables. Along with some great expressions in the character's faces.

This is a great book to introduce younger readers to Anne, to peak interest for older readers and is a lovely addition for any longtime fans.

Thank you to #NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an advance e-copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Sublime! This book is a wonderful adaption of Lucy Maud Montgomery's masterpiece. This book is a child friendly version of Anne of Green Gables: colorful, creative and easy to read by young children from 6 + years old

I have a particular fondness for Anne of Green Gables; that series is dear to me and I anticipate when I will introduce those books to my daughters. Anne Arrives, an early-reader adaptation with pleasing illustrations, is the sort of book I could read with them now to whet their interest.

The illustrations are delightful, and the story -- as the title conveys -- covers Anne's arrival to Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert's farm. I believe there will be a series of these early readers to break up the familiar story in more manageable pieces for younger children.

This is a wonderful introduction to the world of Anne (with an "e") of Green Gables. This book covers the first chapter of the book, where we get to meet most of the main characters of the book. Easy to read, and with wonderful pictures, this would be the perfect book to introduce younger readers to the story.

Here is where Anne first meets Matthew , at the train startion

I love the look on Marilla's face.

Cute introduction to a wonderful series, that is now over 100 years old.

And here is Anne apologizing to Mrs. Lynde for being rude to her.

A lovely adaptation introducing early readers to the whimsical spirit of "Anne with an e".
When Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert need help on their farm, they adopt a boy. Except when Matthew arrives at the train station, he instead finds the talkative red haired Anne Shirley waiting for him.
Marilla initially intends to send Anne back so a boy can take her place. Saddened by the mix up and feeling unwanted, Anne still feels that Green Gables is meant to be her home. While Marilla may be practical and unwilling to tolerate nonsense, she is also kind, and considers adopting Anne if she can mind her manners.
Anne's honesty causes her to clash with the nosy next door neighbor Mrs. Lynde and her stubborn streak could lead to being sent away from the beautiful home she has found. Anne's respect and love for the Cuthberts ultimately lead to a happy resolution. Marilla and Matthew are both charmed by the vibrant young girl and readers will be, too!
For older readers who hold Anne near to their heart, this book filled with beautiful illustrations is a nostalgic return to the beloved story. For new readers, this book is a wonderful introduction to L.M. Montgomery's Avonlea and its classic characters. The short chapters are perfect for emerging readers and the heart and charm of the original story is captured perfectly.

Anne Shirley is one of the most beloved characters in children's fiction. She has helped to make Prince Edward Island a place that Anne lovers dream of visiting. Anne has spunk, imagination, honesty, deep feelings and a sense of adventure. Anne Arrives tells the story of Anne's beginnings at Green Gables. In addition to Anne, of course there are Marilla, Matthew and Mrs. Lynde.
This is a book with short chapters for beginning readers. The essence of the plot is there and Anne's character shines through. The illustrations are gorgeous and will add to the young reader's enjoyment of the story. Hopefully, Anne Arrives is the first in a series! Thanks for this read NetGalley and the publisher.

Aaahhh! Wonderful easy reader introduction to a wonderful story! I love Anne of Green Gables and bet young readers will enjoy reading this version before graduating to the fiction work. Kudos to Kallie George for the fine job of simplifying the story for young readers!

Such a great early chapter starter. Chopping the book into smaller parts is perfect for young readers and I love the way the language hasn't been altered too much, just pared down. You lose the descriptions but not the spirit of the book. This will be an easy sell to kids and especially to parents. Beautiful illustrations.

This is such a lovely version of the opening chapters of Anne of Green Gables rewritten to be accessible to a younger audience. The text keeps the basics of the original text in a way that makes it understandable for young readers without losing any of its charm. The illustrations are also gorgeous, and the balance between the amount of text per page and the pictures is spot on. This would be a great first chapter book for an early reader, as it has 8 chapters with about 5 pages of text each. I'll definitely be adding this to my sons' bookshelf, and will look out for more books by Kallie George that hopefully chronicle the rest of Anne's story in Green Gables.
