A good early chapter book adaptation of the first part of Anne of Green Gables. The sweet illustrations add another dimension and support the text really well.

Aaahhh! Wonderful easy reader introduction to a wonderful story! I love Anne of Green Gables and bet young readers will enjoy reading this version before graduating to the fiction work. Kudos to Kallie George for the fine job of simplifying the story for young readers!

Such a great early chapter starter. Chopping the book into smaller parts is perfect for young readers and I love the way the language hasn't been altered too much, just pared down. You lose the descriptions but not the spirit of the book. This will be an easy sell to kids and especially to parents. Beautiful illustrations.

This is such a lovely version of the opening chapters of Anne of Green Gables rewritten to be accessible to a younger audience. The text keeps the basics of the original text in a way that makes it understandable for young readers without losing any of its charm. The illustrations are also gorgeous, and the balance between the amount of text per page and the pictures is spot on. This would be a great first chapter book for an early reader, as it has 8 chapters with about 5 pages of text each. I'll definitely be adding this to my sons' bookshelf, and will look out for more books by Kallie George that hopefully chronicle the rest of Anne's story in Green Gables.
