This book is about family dynamics - some hurtful and some beautifully healing. Olivia and her sister, Alexandrea, leave Harlem and travel down to Georgia to help their Aunt Joyce. Aunt Joyce has broken her hip and needs help in running the family bakery in Georgia. The girls spent many summers in Sugar Lake. They arrived at the bakery to find the fire department on the premises. Drea is fascinated by the firemen in attendance but Liv is struck by the fact that her old summer boyfriend, the one who would love her forever, until he left town with out her, is the fire chief. It was a book about lost and found love and trust.

Could not put this book down! Olivia and Clayton are fantastic characters!

Many thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

This was such a good story about getting a second chance. Olivia made Clayton work for it, though! LOL! Both go through some rough patches, especially Clayton. But I rooted for them. K.M. Jackson is a gifted writer and I encourage fans of a sweet romance to buy her novel.

First off let me start off by saying something about Net Galley. This is a very good place to expand your reading by learning new authors. Most of the books I have requested are from authors that I have not read and have learned about them on facebook.. Also I don't like to put spoilers in my reviews. This is the first time I have read this author. I felt this book was really good and that the story came together really well. The characters of Olivia and Clayton were very strong.. Besides the romances, the mystery and people finding their way in this story every one had decisions to make and this is what made this story great. I would highly recommend this book.

This is the story of Olivia and Clayton. Olivia and her sister , who don’t have the best relationship, travel to Sweet Lake to help out their injured aunt. For Olivia Sweet Lake is just a big memory of Clayton, the boy she shares all her firsts with , first kiss, first love, first heartbreak. She returns to Sweet Lake thinking he is happily married and miles away. What she’s yet to find out is that isn’t the case at all.
A story of second chances, mending relationships and finding oneself!
Such a good read!

3.5 Second Chances Love Stars

Sometimes it seems The Butterfly Effect is happening front and canter to your own life. What can happen at work can impact what happens personally and then before you know it, you are going back home to help your Aunt and play at the bakery you always loved.

That is exactly what happened Olivia Gale. She has not been thrilled with her big time corporate job and used her hobby of baking pies to relax her. In a huge landslide of events, she loses her job and has "her guy" dump her for no specific reason. Then she receives a call from her beloved Aunt needing help with the bakery back home. All of these incidents point her to take the action of sublet her place in the city, go back home and ponder, What the hell do I want in Life...

Clayton Morris is also someone who has been through all the changes life can through at you... One of them caused him to turn away from the woman he wanted to be with, Olivia. Clayton has grown into a responsible man...a firefighter and single dad, yet with all of those admirable qualities, he feels he has nothing to offer this accomplished woman.

But Butterflies had other ideas and flapped their wings to bring these two together to give them a second chance for love. This tale had many interesting secondary characters and gave solid lessons in recognizing to appreciate what is happening in the here and now.

So just when you think you have it all together the universe has other plans. Olivia likes, no lives to keep everything in a neat and orderly fashion exactly according to the plan. Then in one moment it all changes. She sublets her apartment and heads south with her sister to both visit and help her beloved aunt and her bake shop. Sweet story of broken hearts mending, finding ones passion, family good, nosy and all the other loving and crazy parts and small town living. I hope that this is the start of a series. I want to see what happens next with Olivia, Drea, the cafe and Aunt Joyce. I found the storyline of the real estate cousin to be superfluous, but truly enjoyed the rest of the story. Perfect for few hours to get away from it all.

This was a cute and sweet second chance story. A simple romance with all the right ingredients. I would recommend this to anyone looking to escape with a romance novel.

When her career and relationship in New York stall, Olivia returns with her sister to the town she spent her childhood summers at to help her aunt with the family bakery. As memories engulf her, she finds out that her childhood sweetheart is back in town with his daughter. Clayton Morris is the fire chief, trying to be a good single dad to his preteen daughter. Can he make up for past mistakes with Olivia or will she return to New York without letting him explain?
This is a sweet second chance romance. The barriers between the main characters are believable and the recipes sound delicious.

I want to go to Sugar Lake! This is for the reader who likes second chance romance, small town life, and a great storyline. Very well written. Thanks to Kensington Books and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Olivia and Clayton have a lot of history with no closure. When circumstances align to send Alicia back to Summer school break escape, old memories and second chances present themselves. But is it really as good as the first time.

I thought this book was good, a little thick on the extra characters, but I’m thinking they all lead to a sequel and are therefore essential to the future editions. I liked the addition of Hope and the potential for Livia to be motherly to her, but it fell just short of happening.....another reason for the setup of a sequel.... perhaps Andrea gets a book with Calebor the police officer and we see where Clayton and Oliviaand Hope are in the very near future.

I definitely loved the big city girl returning to the s,all town and rekindling her love of baking as well as her true love.

The book didn't strike me as the best read. It was well written and flowed well, it just wasn't the most exciting. Good messaged from it though

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy. A great read! This is my first book from this author and I am sure it will not be my last. Olivia appears to have it all, a great job and a great boyfriend. Then suddenly she loses her boyfriend and her job on the same day. Due to her Aunt's untimely accident, Olivia is needed to help her Aunt keep the family bakery running in a small southern town where Olivia spent her summers. She is forced to face the boy she loved who left her without a word. Sparks fly when they are together, but she cannot get over the hurt he caused her at first. They do work through their issues and come together.

This book is really a second chance romance book. Honestly who doesn’t like to read about two people that are being given a second chance at love? We meet Liv at the beginning of the book and she really is not having a good day. She not only lost her job but her boyfriend of 9 months just dumps her for no reason at all. Later in the day she finds out that her Aunt Joyce needs help in the family baker so she jumps at the chance to go there and help out. She isn’t really sure what she is going to do now so this will give her time to figure it out. When she gets to the bakery to help her Aunt Joyce she runs into none other than Clayton. Clayton was her first everything and he broke her heart. This book is about taking a leap of faith and going after something you are not really sure is such a great idea. It is about second chances in more than just love. This is a really great romance story and I cannot wait to visit this small town again because I loved it there. Thanks Net Galley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm a sucker for a small town, second chance romance. Settling into a new (fictional) town is a little dicey at times, and I felt a few bumps in this one, but I'm sure once the next book rolls around, Sugar Lake will feel just like home.
