Story
Wicked Nix is a fun read and definitely a book I would recommend to young readers. The story is developed well and Nix's energy and desires push the story forward to its heartwarming conclusion.

Writing
The writing style is consistent and builds very nicely for its targeted middle grade readers who, I believe, will be equally captivated by Nix.

Characters
What I truly thought was great in this story was the gradual development of Nix from an incorrigible trickster into someone with a deep vulnerability and then finally into someone who can care about others' welfare. I feel that even though as adults, we can predict what would happen, middle school readers can definitely get a magical experience from Wicked Nix.

Enjoyability
I thoroughly enjoyed Wicked Nix by Lena Coakley. It was heartwarming, delightful, and magical.

A beautiful modern fairy tale. Wicked Nix is sure to be a modern classic. I loved the depth of detail the author put into the setting and backstory, Wicked Nix has to be one of the funniest characters I have read.

Wicked Nix is a kick ass fairy....or is he? He is incensed at a human taking up residence in a cottage in his forest and sets out to frighten the man away by using tricks. There's an unexpected twist when Nix turns out not to be a fairy at all - in fact he is a boy who was stolen by the queen of the fairies years ago. This middle grade fairy tale has themes of family and belonging and is wistful and playful with a dose of pathos thrown in. An enjoyable read for kids age 8 and above.
