Let me start by saying I adore all things dragons, seriously...I'm obsessed, and when I stumbled across this book I was totally down for it on the pretense of dragons alone. Then, I started reading it, and loved the idea even more. This story starts out following a dragon girl named Isola living in the human world to be kept safe, when things turn 'unsafe' for her she is then brought back to her own home world to be better protected. Isola is not only a dragon, but she is also a princess, the last heir to the throne, and one of the last Ice Dragons. Caught up in a rebellion she is assigned 4 dragon guards who must protect her with their life, but there is a curse and a prophecy about an royal dragon and dragon guards; one that claims a high price.
Needless to say, things get messy but in a totally delicious way. This book had a really strong start in my opinion, I felt glued to the pages (being honest I did manage to read this in a matter of hours). The beautiful thing about this book is that there are small snippets of future premonitions that come back in later scenes, and I loved this. It leaves you feeling hooked, and then when it comes together it leaves you with a sense of satisfaction. It is a reverse harem story, but I didn't feel like that was the sole focus unlike others I have read, in fact for me it offered so much more than that. It is a great story about a girl coming to terms with herself, her own losses, and the losses of those around her. It is a story about mending broken bonds, betrayal, heartache, and learning to trust. Overall, I really enjoyed this book, the characters, and the suspense. I was not expecting the ending, and I immediately wanted to read the next book!
If you want dragons, magic, a headstrong female, and hot guys then you will find it here in this book.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would at the start, it kept you interested and the pages turning . I wasn't impressed with Isolly moving on so quickly from her 'love' and being attracted to three guys when she was grieving, not a huge fan of instalove, but it wasn't guilty of that it was instalust I suppose more, but she moved on very quickly is the main i could see the villain coming but maybe that was just me. But I enjoyed it, was fast paced and I do want to know what happens next , good light entertaining read.

I honestly didn’t think I would like this. The gorgeous cover intrigued me (plus… dragons!) and I didn’t really realize that Wings of Ice is a fantasy novel with a reverse harem. I’ve read a couple RH books in the past and although the stories tend to pull me in, the whole one girl with multiple love interests doesn’t really appeal to me. The story usually loses me there and if there are heavy sex themes I tend to find it a little uncomfortable to read. Call me old fashioned, but I’m more a one on one type of girl.

Surprisingly, I found myself instantly drawn into this world and loved it! This particular installment, to me, read almost like a Young Adult fantasy with some adult themes. I mean, there were some colorful word choices, but nothing overly sexualized and I think it really worked. I loved the idea of Ice dragons and Fire dragons and the conflict between them. I loved the history between the Royal family and the Dragon Guard and I thought the introduction of a school for these dragons was great.

The book moved a little faster than I would have liked and I felt that the author really rushed through the whole thing which made it a little less enjoyable to read. There was just so much going on in such a short period of time that it was hard to stay focused on any one piece of information. That being said, the short chapters and engaging storyline made for a very quick read which might not have been accomplished so easily had the pace been set slower so…I guess it evens out?

Was this book perfect? No. Was it a bit (lot) corny at times? Absolutely, but did it keep me engaged as a reader and make me want to run out and immediately grab the rest of the series to see how it plays out? Oh hell yes! Wings of Ice is a fun read with a great cast of characters that you will love and love to hate. It’s the perfect length to read in one sitting and has enough magic, tension and twists to keep the reader wanting the next installment right away.

I have to run out and grab the next book now. That ending….I need to know. Also, if someone could let me know where I can get a Korbin and Bee….that would be great. I want one!

Thanks to NetGalley and G. Bailey for providing me with a copy of this book to read and provide my honest opinions.

A very interesting book, loved and really enjoyed the reading. Strongly recommend the book if you are into page turning books.

Action, adventure, romance, and excitement, it’s a complete package. The storyline is awesome and the characters are great, I like the tree spirit Bee. I’m no fan of threesome or foursome and I find this storyline flowing that way but it doesn’t take away from the book. So as much as I seriously don’t dig these threesomes and foursome, I cannot lie, it’s a great read, it is well written and full of excitement, there is also intrigue, a nice package.

A good start to what could turn out to be an absolutely brilliant 5 book series. The premise is good and the twists were difficult to predict which is unusual in most books these days. I thought that Issy was daft not to try to get on with her dragon more because - hello - who wouldn't want to talk to their dragon? :)
I'm very much looking forward to the rest of this series.

While I liked it, I didn't love it. The characters could use with a little more depth to them. The story concept was interesting and fairly well written out but it could have really used stronger character development

I love Reverse harem books so when I saw this one on Netgalley, I quickly grabbed a copy! Besides, a reverse harem book with dragons? Yes, please!

Let me start by saying that I really enjoyed this book. I will be reading the next one for sure.

We follow Isola, an Ice dragon and a princess to the dragon kingdom. She's been kept away for ten years on Earth and when a rebellion threatens everything, she has to go back.

The fact that she was supposed to take the throne at eighteen when she almost doesn't know anything about her kingdom was kinda weird to me, especially since her father was still alive but I guess it's some sort of tradition? I don't know.

Also, if it wasn't for (view spoiler) I would have been a little disappointed by that ending. I wasn't shocked by the big revelation. It's probably because we learn what's going to happen in the prologue. We just don't know who's responsible. I had my suspicions and it seems they were correct.

Overall, this was a really entertaining read and I am curious to read the rest of the series!

Thank you to the publisher for letting me read and review this book.

this book was very good. The chapters were short and to the point, so I kept telling myself one more chapter before I knew it I was halfway done.

I really enjoyed the mixture of worlds from human to magical. I also absolutely adore the idea of human and dragons being one. Plus sprinkle in royalty, curses, and a good dose of sexiness and this book was a page-turner.

One of the good points of this books is you get a lot of history and backstory to the characters which I am guessing will come in handy in the future installments.

As for characters I like that Isola was strong yet fragile. Being the last of her kind she was very relatable and lovable. She is a princess and the last of her kind an Ice Dragon.

Then you have her guards and friends they are fire dragons and very handsome from the description we are given. I liked that we got a mixture of personalities and that the guys were not only hot but caring and intelligent.

What can I say this book is a must-read. After all, it's filled with magic, adventure, suspense, and Dragons. Need I say more.

Isola is a ice dragon shifter the last of her line. When her mother is killed her father the king sends her to earth to hide with Jace (her consort) amongst humans. The war finds her and Jace is killed. Her father the king takes her home to Dragca Academy where she is given 4 guards who are fire dragons. The attempts on her life come quickly she must rely on her guards to train and save her life. A cliff hanger ending appears. Who is the traitor?
This dragon story takes its time to get going and for you to take to the characters. There is a lot of suppressed passion between Isola and her guards which cannot be taken further due to the curse.
This story feels to be laying the groundwork for future stories which you may enjoy more.
I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Actual rate: 4.5

I read the synopsis before diving into the book this time but still ended up confused. I did not think that Isola was a dragon-shifter also, as it only stated accident-prone princess and her dragon guards. Maybe the royals could not shift, or they can control the dragons -was what I thought.

The story started out during a war, however, Isola and Jace (her companion) is at Earth, an effort to hide and protect them. The war is between the ice dragons (mostly royals) and the fire dragons (the guards and civilians). Jace died at the first chapter, which was so sudden that I had to re-read from the start. I did not like his sudden death, as it was so abrupt and still too early in the story.

It was only after Isola's dragons claiming her guards as hers did I understand why "Reverse harem" was included in the synopsis. Her dragon is very much like the middle-grade popular kid who goes out with all the boys in her grade. It was very understandable why Isola does not trust her dragon, but I do feel annoyed as she did not try to communicate with her dragon. COMMUNICATION IS KEY.

The guards are Thorne, Korbin, Elias, and Dagan. I dislike Elias, he's the typical bad boy that sleeps around and is told to stay away from. Dagan is his brother, Dagan on the other hand, he's nicer and more trustworthy than Elias but he's egotistical. Korbin is my favorite, he does things and explains them, unlike the others. Thorne was the first dragon guard Isola met, so she trusts him the most, but over time he seems very suspicious.

The story ended with Isola being not the only heir, very plot twist. Also, the ending is a cliffhanger. Wings of Ice is the first book in a 5 series book. There are so many prophecies, some that are revealed to us, some not. Overall, I like the book very much, although some of Isola's actions are very childish, it is understandable.

I thought this book was great! I loved how there was a newer twist on a moving into adulthood drama. The story built relationships with the men so well and I can't wait to read more!

WOW!!! This was an emotional roller-coaster with a twist I didn't see coming.

Isola is a princess who's future seems decided until one day the safety net she had on earth is torn away. She is thrust into a war where not everyone is who they seem. Outcast, feared and hated by many she is guarded by 4 of the strongest Dragon Guards. Soon she discovers that there is a curse on the guards and that not everything is fair in this dragon kingdom.

While trying to learn about her world and the curse she finds herself developing feelings for each of her guards, and putting them all at risk. Can she develop a working relationship with her dragon and can she keep all of her guards safe from the enemy that stalks her?

Watching the romance between the main characters was amazing and takes the reader on an adventure. While they all struggle with their roles, its great to see Issy smash their misconceptions. Their journey is unique as only a reverse harem can be but tender and believable. I loved every moment of this.
That being said this is not a closed case sweet romance. There are forces at work to betray them all and they will fight for their very essence of who they are. The suspense and the ending twist rocked me, I did not see that coming, and I loved being taken unaware.

I want to thank the author and the Netgalley website for this partnership.

I was immediately attracted by the cover we see the beautiful Isola with a dragon rather angry next to her.

Isola thought she had a future when the war threatened her home. She will return to the land of the dragon world and to the Dragca Academy which she knows nothing about it at all. The four guardians of the dragon protect her until the day she accidentally kills most of her class the first week.

A series that deserves to be known, translated to have a maximum of readers. I loved this first volume the character of Isola is very endearing the story captivating, moving with full of suspense and twists. I hate to read the rest of the story, especially since I saw at the end of the book that there would be five books in all.

One sitting read. Love the ice vs fire in the story. The development of the relationship(s) of Isola and her guardians was well done. It had enough build-up that it wasn't an instant relationship with each of them. Twist at the end I didn't see coming, I thought it was someone else. Prophecy is of course vague but I still tried to figure it out. Really enjoyed the tree spirit in the story even though it was a small part. Hope she becomes more in the next one. Cliff hanger ending. Looking forward to the next one in this series.

Let me put it out there first that I like this book even if it’s a YA because no angst feast. You feel, see, understand the main character’s emotional state even without the angst. That alone is the reason I did not put down the book when I realized how young the main character is.
The next is that created world. The myths are the same - dragons and magic - but they are presented in a new view that is believeable without too much of a leap of faith.
Note: This ends in a cliffhanger.

This alternate universe romance is suitable for Young Adults. It has clever character delineation and uses the setting of school, in two different worlds, to inform us about the many races inhabiting those worlds.

Isola has a warm heart and is learning in the nick of time how to control her talents as an Ice Dragon, in order to take her place as heir to her father's throne. In the human world where she was hidden away after her mother's death, she could get by with ignoring her dragon side, but it comes back to bite her in major ways! And things she took for granted as a small child turn out to be nearly useless in the face of complete magical rebellion unfolding.

Though labeled as 'reverse harem', the attraction that the characters feel is strictly under wraps in this introductory volume. Part of the struggle is deciding which of her own instincts to trust, including the erotic instinct. Isola has an unusual number of talents and is destined to change all her worlds as she grows into them all..

This is a fast paced paranormal romance reverse harem book that ends in a cliffhanger. I finished reading this book but it was a struggle. There was not a cohesive circle the characters came in to sporadically with no reason.

Wings of Ice (Protected by Dragons, #1)
I loved it. I couldn't stop daydreaming about it during and after I read it. I firmly believe this is a must-read. Isola, princess of Dragca, was a determined and strong woman. She can be an inspiration for you to stand up for yourself, for your beliefs, and for the people around you. And besides Isola, the concept of book was filled with so much fantasy. Fire Dragons and Ice Dragons. Tree Spirits. Dragonglass. Portals. Seers. It was all filled with wonderful magic. I got so excited when I found out it's part of a series. A bit of a warning though, it has swear words and reverse haram. (If you do not know what reverse haram is, it is when a main character has three love interests) Other than that, I highly recommend the book. You will love it. (P.S. Major cliffhanger)
