Ah the rom-com! Eli and Jack were engaged until they weren't and they haven't seen each other for a long time- and now they're thrown together at a wedding. This has lots of tropes and it's quite fluffy but it might be just the thing for the beach,

Cute, romantic chick lit. A perfect summer beach read. Recommend for fans of Sophia Kinsella and those looking for an escape.

A light easy read! Perfect for a day by the pool on the beach! A lovely romantic story with different time lines but an easy read

A great read, the story of Emi and her lucky dress.
Towards the end I got a bit confused about who knew what!

While not a necessarily memorable book, it was still cute at times. I got confused with timelines, but enjoyed the female lead. I wasn’t satisfied by the ending, though.

This book was cute, but I wouldn't say it was memorable. I got a bit annoyed at the end because it felt like some parts could have been cut out, and it could have ended sooner. Overall, it was a good read, though.

This book started out ok, but it began to get a little silly. It was quite confusing how it kept going back and forth in time and the ending was predictable but largely unrealistic. Not sure of the relevance of Liam in the book really and the rest of the characters were either whingy (Emi and Jack), overbearing (Amelia), dreadfully awful (Greta) or forgettable. Sorry.

This is an ok modern romance. It held my interest to the end. However there are better books to read out there.

It took me longer to read this book than usual as the flipping back and forth in time was annoying and interrupted the flow of the story

Not my cup of tea

Aw shucks this book was just lovely. Emi is nervous at the prospect of flying back home to attend the wedding of her brother, Evan, and his wife to be, Hannah. Hannah just so happens to be the sister of the man who broke Emi’s heart (Jack) almost a year ago just days before they were due to get married.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

This book had great dynamic and such amazing characters! I absolutely loved the story line. I am not usually a fan of going back and forth between the past and present, but I think it was necessary to insert the past at the right points to understand certain situations.

I will say, there is a point where I felt that Emi was just being manipulated by Jack and Amelia and this made the scene a little forced to me. I didn't get as excited for Emi and Jack as I feel I would have if it had gone differently. It was definitely romantic, and a magical ending for them.

I would definitely recommend this story for someone looking for a happily ever after after quite a few tribulations!
I received this from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I just could not get away with this book and to be honest I found myself flicking through it and skim reading as it was a bit repetitive. I’m all for a light easy read but this was beyond being fluffy to the point of being vacuous and completely lacking in substance. I wasn’t taken with any of the characters and the story was just extremely predictable. Thanks to Netgalley, Aria and the author for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. Just sorry it couldn’t be more positive.

The Lucky dress is a contemporary romance by Aimee Brown, an author new to me. It follows the story of Emi Harrison and Jac Cabot her ex-fiancee. I guess from the get go I couldn’t really get behind the premise of the book.
Whilst the acutal book itself is well written I guess I just did not love the premise.
The protagonists are reunited at their siblings’ wedding and both Emi and Jack finally have to face the music again and unresolved feels/wounds are uncovered.
Overall I didn’t really engage with either protagonists. I still look forward to reading Ms Brown’s future work though and appreciate the opportunity to provide this review.

I really enjoyed this book. It is told in alternating chapters from present and past. The main character is flying back him to attend her brothers wedding. This will be the first time she has to face her ex-fiancé since their messy break up. Lots of disasters, good friends and sweet moments in this book. It is a feel good story. I liked how at times I wasn’t sure exactly what path the author would take - so yes it’s somewhat predicable, but not as much as typical rom-com stories.

This was a good book.
At first it was slightly depressing to know how much her heart was broken.
But with her lucky dress everything can change.

This book held great promise but unfortunately I couldn't engage with the story as much as I would have liked. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me review this book.

This genre is so hard to get right. It seems like an easy option but it’s really not. You’ve got to have great characters, find a new twist on an overused idea and write it convincingly. This did some of that, just not enough for me to love it. Too often I’m left feeling let down by ridiculous twists and I felt the role the mother-in-law character played move this book firmly out of the sublime and into the ridiculous.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was really hesitant on reading this at first because I was a bit deterred from the initial ratings it received but I'm so glad that I decided to read it anyways! I couldn't put it down and ended up finishing it in a day. It was an easy, enjoyable, intriguing, romantic read.
I loved Emi's character. My heart broke for her in certain instances and then she brought me to a whole other level with her hilarious outbursts which were so entertaining. I completely fell in love with all of the characters, including Liam (I can't wait for his book next year!).
I really enjoyed how the story was told, flipping from past to present and back again in each chapter.
The author brings you on a crazy emotional, feel good roller coaster filled with love, laughter, tears and surprises.
I can't wait to read the next one!
