This book has adorable illustrations that will capture the interest of my preschool students. The rhythmic, rhyming text will encourage them to join in, and the opportunity to use predictive thinking to guess what the animal will say is fantastic. Definitely a book I will add to our collection.

This was a cute take on being yourself instead of envying what others have. Told in rhyme, each of the animals makes a sound of an animal that they think has it made. I wish there was a more direct lesson taught at the end, but this would be a great discussion book.

A comical book about farm animals who make some interesting sounds. The writing is correctly written for children to understand and find amusing, and also includes bright illustrations that look like the animals with bold text when appropriate. I cannot see this book having a follow-up too easily since it already mentioned the majority of farm animals, but if it did, I would be a reader.

Although the rhyming is a bit forced in parts, it is a fun read-aloud with beautiful illustrations that deserve close inspection.

You would have thought that all the books that could be written on farm animals are done. But thats not true. Sakes Alive! cattle drive
As you keep reading the story, with rhyme in place you can guess what the animal is going to say in some cases. When a new animal comes in and all the other animals have made their unusual sounds, you think that would be the one saying Moo as that is what was unsaid so far, the mystery thickens as more animals enter. Dog, cat and even the farmer ..so on..
It was funny how the preschooler stuck to her facts and read her own version of another farm story where every one says their usual sounds.
Cute illustrations. Creative twist.

Perfect book for a toddler. Illustrations are beautiful and the verse and rhyme are clever. I find that books with a rhyme hold particular interest for little ones and are beneficial for beginning readers. I am looking forward to sharing this book with my grandson. I think the message of the book is clear and will be a point of discussion between the child and the reader.

Loved this book! The words were easy to read. I liked how it rhymed. It could be read to children ages birth to 2nd grade. The pictures were colorful and clear. I would definitely buy this book to use for teaching speech to my students. This book would not only help with language skills, it could also be used for articulation, categories, labeling, wh-questions. I would also buy this book for a baby shower gift and birthday gifts. I really enjoyed this.

Was this book earth shattering in children’s literature? No. But it is a fun book that if used as a teaching tool will make a difference in the way kids think and that is the best thing a book can do! Each animal in the book makes the sound of another wishing they could be something else. Not only does this mean that your kids can practice their animal sounds which is always fun, making it a great book for speech therapists to use as well, but it can lead of conversations about wanting what others have. Kids, even the youngest, know what it is like to want what others have. It may be as simple as a toy for them, but by starting to teach them young to appreciate what they have and realize others would like what they already have it can help form their self-esteem later in life. Rory Feek has written a children’s book that will be a great edition to classrooms and homes alike.

Thank you NetGalley for providing my children and I will an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The illustrations were very cute and brought the book along. Expressive animal faces. I tried a read a loud to myself three times and I just couldn't get into a rhythm. The first two lines always rhyme - liked that, but then the next 2-3 lines just dropped. Sometimes rhyming, sometimes not.

I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

When I first saw the title of the book, I thought, "This isn't a new concept." An animal with the wrong animal sound. But after reading the book, I am totally won over. The rhymes are so cute and catchy and it is very different than other books where the animal says the wrong sound. It's catchy, the illustrations are fun, and it's completely sweet with little hidden details in the book. If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would.

This is a delightful book about animal sounds. I can see myself using it during an animal storytime and the kids loudly protesting at the incorrect animal sounds. The illustrations are also beautiful.

A lady saw this book and went to her church,
She told her friends about it, she was about to burst!
"If I were a reader, I'd want to have this."
So, put a copy in our library and read to the
...kids!

Thanks, Rory Feek, for this great book! Thanks, also to Tommy Nelson Publishers and NetGalley for allowing this advanced look into a picture book in exchange for an honest review.

Look at these pictures! Awesome animals! Illustrations by Bruno Robert are not to be missed!

Lyrical text will also catch the attention of children and adults alike!

This is definitely a book I would read in my preschool storytime! It's silly but also gives the opportunity for lots of talking points, "Does a cow really say neighhhhh?" Etc. I absolutely love stories in rhyme so this gets another nod for that. The illustrations are clean, bright and very kid friendly. The end of the book would bring lots of giggles from the kids. This is a great picture book and I can't wait to give it a try in my storytime.

The Cow Said Neigh is a beautiful book. I loved the whole package - the story, the rhyming, the illustrations. This will quickly become a child’s favorite,

Kids love things that are silly, and they also love making animal sounds, so this book hits to sweet spots.

The story is about animals that wish they were other animals, because, well, their life looks more interesting, and fun, than their present life. Thus, we have all sorts of farm animals saying things they shouldn't be. The horse quacks, the dog meows, and the duck baas.

As another reviewer pointed out, the ending is a bit lame, and doesn't wrap up the story, but most kids won't care. They will probably be laughing at the silly animals that don't know what they should be saying.

The Cow Said Neigh! By Rory Feek
This book had different animals making sounds of a different animal. it was so cute. I really enjoyed the illustrations and the fact the story was so easy to read. I think this book would be perfect for a child who is learning animal sounds because the picture doesn't match the sound and makes the child figure out which picture matches the sound. I thoroughly enjoyed reading and would recommend to anyone looking for a cute book for a child.

I received a PDF from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. The illustrations are cute and fun. The rhyming text is close to perfect and will have readers guessing what animal sound is next. I only gave this book 4 stars because I was hoping for a meaning behind all the animals wishing they were something other than what God created them to be; I expected the ending would wrap with the message it's best to be who you are and be happy with the gifts you've been given. Without a deeper meaning, this is more like a fun, read along poem than a picture book.

Really cute book! Unique way to learn animal sounds! It was a lot of fun. I kind of wish there was a wrap up that involved being happy with your own place in life since they were looking at the other animals and thinking their grass is greener essentially. But still a cute book, with adorable pictures!

What a gorgeous book!
The illustrations are stunning and the narrative takes the form a traditional flow from one animal to another.
It’ll provide the perfect start for children understanding onomatopoeia; a sure fire favourite for all.
