Although this novel is well written and the story line deals with current affairs issues, I am afraid that I did not enjoy the book as much as I thought I would. I found it extremely hard to get immersed into the story since it deals with such difficult topics. However I did enjoy the fact that the story is told in two differs voices - that of the father and the daughter so we get two different perspectives and are able to understand their motivations better. It also deals with a very powerful subject - the love between a father and daughter and to what extend he would go to protect his child.

A very thought provoking story told from the perspective of the father and the daughter. I must say this is not the usual sort of book that I usually read but I’m so glad I did. It’s such a heart wrenching story of a father’s unconditional love and the extreme danger he is prepared to face to bring his daughter home. His daughter had left their home in London to go to Syria to join what she believed to be her true religious cause. Her belief in her religion was pure.
Very powerful and moving story. I’m happy to have had the opportunity to read this novel
Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this in exchange for an honest opinion
