Write with Me is designed as a guided journal for those going through a difficult period in their life. I have been having difficulties in my relationship which sometimes feel too big to overcome, and this book helped me to get through that in some way although the path is far from finished. Each page has a quote as well as a beautiful picture, inspiration for whatever you choose to write that day. Basically, the journal functions as a series of writing prompts although they are not direct prompts but more like something uplifting to move you in the right direction. I really liked the open format that left me with, and the creativity it promoted. |

Great photos and love the quotes. Would be great if there were more journal prompts, good for beginners maybe. |
Beautiful quotes and images. Not sure ut helped me get through my sickness. But was wonderfully out together. Woukd be nice in a hard copy. |
Beautiful. If I told you this was a book of quotations with pages provided for journaling responses, you'd probably say, "Oh, quotations. Yawn." I thought the same at first, until I saw the beautiful photography that accompanied each. I only wish there were 365 quotations provided, one for every day. I have not yet seen the book in print, but imagine it will be even more beautiful. |
A beautiful journal with vivid photos and quotes or sayings on every page and then one blank line to write. You can use it to write one page a day using prompts on whatever photo and quote is there that day, or use more pages to write what you'd like. Every photo and quote is different to offer a lot of different inspiration and perspective. Neat book for any type of writing journal. |

Write With Me is a journal that intersperses blank writing pages with photographs and quotations. While the quotes are not directly formatted as writing prompts, each quotation as well as each photograph provides an immersive writing experience in this guided journal. Since this does not offer direct instruction, the journal relies on the writer to self-direct writing activities. This will help some writers who are resistant to following directions and hamper other writers who are looking for a stronger and more deliberate guidance. I received a digital galley in exchange for an unbiased review. #WriteWithMe #NetGalley |
Don’t See the Point While this book is beautiful looking with large, colorful photographs (though some do seem a little too much like standard stock images), I don't quite get the point of it. The description states that this is meant to help people move on from a variety of life situations like divorce or addiction, but I don't see how this book helps that process at all. The book is organized so that there is a single journal page opposite a picture with a quote. Some quotes were interesting while others seemed too generic, like those pep-talk statements you see on posters hanging in a workroom or institutional toilet. Some quotes, too, almost seemed as if they were going for humor, which didn't seem quite right given the context. I just didn't really see how these quotes specifically addressed moving on. And I really didn't see how they could be used as writing prompts. Perhaps it's because I'm used to writing prompts for writers, but I just didn't see how you could take any of these quotes and journal anything meaningful about them and moving on. So, this book just didn't work for me. |
Write With Me is a great journaling resource for people moving through challenging emotions, particularly grief and loss. Although difficult to navigate as an e-book, the quotes, pictures and prompts offer a wonderful guide to writing through feelings. |
This journal is beautifully designed. The photography is fantastic, and the majority of the statements are new and thought provoking. This is definitely a book to use in hard copy rather than electronically, and it has some nice statements that are thought provoking for journaling. |
Thank you #NetGalley for the review copy of #WriteWithMe This is a journal that contains blank lined pages for writing, as well as pages with photographs that go along with quotes or poems printed over them. The layout is set up so when holding the book open there is a photo/text across from each lined page, to provide some prompting or inspiration for the writing, I really like the concept of this and enjoyed a lot of the text and photographs, however some of the text and images felt too much like stock photos or quotes and reminded me of the "inspirational" posters some teachers would hang up in elementary school. |
A motivational resource for writers at all stages, designed to assist in working through creative blocks and inspiring the writer. |
This was a nice book. I liked the writing prompts a lot and I found my creativity came a lot easier. It helped me come out of a writer’s slump or writer’s block, and I recommend this to others going through the same. |
Not quite what I was expecting when it came to prompts but the photography was stunning and the quotes were inspirational. |
This is a great writing resource to have in your pocket. I loved being able to work on it anywhere, including while waiting for the doctor. |
This is a journal for people moving through difficulties. It is filled with beautiful photographs and quotes that motivate and inspire the reader; the quotes can act as writing prompts. Following each picture there is space for journal writing. I liked the photographs and the layout of the book. It may be helpful for some and would make a nice gift for a friend or relative. 3/5 stars. |
This is a lovely journal with beautiful pictures and words of inspiration. I use it to journal after my daily meditations. Very nice. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this journal. #WriteWithMe #NetGalley |
Write With Me by Vanita Oelschalger is true to its name. It is a journal, where every alternate page has a beautiful and a thoughtful quote. It is a perfect journal, that inspire you to write. My only complaint is that the journal is short, there should be 365 blank pages, one for each day of the year. |
Having reviewed a couple of Vanita’s books for children here already, I was eager to read this book of hers, especially since it was on journaling. This little book has stunning photographs, inspirational poems and quotes on one side and blank ruled pages on the other side for you to journal. I received an e-book from the publisher, but once I started going through it I wished I had a hard copy. This would make a great gift for writers/ those who journal. |
Write with Me to Keep What Matters in Mind, written by Vanita Oelschalger, is a beautiful and inspiring journal to help you get your thoughts on paper. Each left hand side page has a full page color photo and a writing prompt. Each right hand side page is a fully lined page, leaving you with plenty of space to write out your thoughts. This journal has been created for people who have gone through a life changing event, such as illness, surviving addiction, divorce, etc. However, if you are looking for a writing journal, please be sure to check this book out as I think the quotes and prompts can inspire just about anyone regardless of your personal situation. Writing prompts To give you some examples of the prompts you will find in this book, take this quote from Mark Twain “The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” I decided to start here, and I wrote about some blogging goals that I wanted to start on and the first steps that I was going to take to get started. When I needed to think, I looked back at the picture on the left hand side, and then started writing again. Sometimes the prompts are thoughts, such as We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we always had. I decided to follow up with my blogging idea here, and wrote about ideas that didn’t get the results that I wanted, and brainstormed new ways to think about solving the problem. I came up with some new ideas that really helped thanks to this journal. Go at your own pace You can really use this journal in any way that you want to. If you want to start at the beginning and work your way through, you will have a great journey. If you want to skip around and find a prompt that calls out to you, that has been working for me. If you want to do one prompt a day, or a week etc. there is no time limit. Do as much or as little as you want each day, Write with Me will be there to help you get your mind down on paper. If you like to journal, please check out this beautiful hardcover book. If you have never written in a journal before, but you want to get help with something that you are going through, this book would be a great investment for you. I hope that you enjoy keeping what matters in mind! |
