Never Let Me Fall is the third book in the Fatal Dreams series by Abbie Roads. Now I am coming late to the series….such a slacker right? Yeah I know hehe. So I will admit that I grabbed this ARC from Sourcebooks Casablanca when I saw the cover…yep I know I will just cave anytime I see a sexy cover but really seeing this cover….how can you resist? Because honestly I didn’t even look at the blurb before grabbing it. Of course, I trust this publisher to deliver on their books but even if I had checked out the blurb beforehand I would have grabbed it anyway though and yes if I hadn’t received the ARC I would have bought this book in print…that is how much I loved the cover and I probably will end up buying it in print because its so PRETTY!! Now I first want to mention that this book is fabulous and I really had a great time immersing myself into this one. Now it did take me over a week to read it since I found myself in a book slump once I started reading it so it took a few days before I was in the mood for this book but boy I read this book last night before bed and couldn’t put it down despite the horrid headache I was having.

Never Let Me Fall begins with our heroine, Helena who has spent ten years in prison for a murder she never committed and a schoolmate framed her who was full of greed for the act. Everyone believed him even though she was only a teenager and only had her grandparents and a few family friends fight for her, but it wasn’t enough even if the evidence was only circumstantial. She has spent years fighting off attacks from other cellmates trying to kill her and she has scars all over her body to prove it. She also hasn’t spoken in quite a long time. Thomas, our hero of the story, only sees in black and white. He can see what is beneath the surface and what is in the soul of a person either the good or the evil. And these special abilities allows him a job working with special criminal investiagors with the government.

Helena, has finally been released from prison and now she is all alone. Her only family are dead and everyone in her home town despises her and will never trust her because they believe that she is a murderer. Her plan….go to the place she grew up and she is drawn to a bear statue near a cemetery and where she runs into Thomas whose home is nearby and is the same house she grew up. She is drawn to this special place that Thomas now calls home. But sparks fly the minute that Thomas and Helena meet and they jump each other like bunnies, and are drawn into a world where Thomas will see color and they will discover a connection stronger than anything they could have imagined and their bond will save them if they trust in it….

What a WILD RIDE!!! Boy I didn’t expect it from this book, I don’t know why since I had heard that Abbie Roads does deliver on the suspense and intensity and she does write in some darker elements so I was forewarned about that. Now these elements aren’t within the relationship, these two are in a fully consensual relationship. Its more outside factors. We see the effects of practically having to fight to live for ten years that Helena has had to deal with and survive and her lack of trust in humanity. I wouldn’t call this book a straight out dark romance because its not…but it does have some darker elements and issues that I am grateful this author touched on since it rarely is from romance authors.

This story was provacative and makes the reader think about those deeper issues that most of us ignore. But boy this author really gets the author to think about those harder issues and see our take on them and I love that Abbie Roads does this. My heart just broke for Helena and all that she went through and seeing her rebuild trust and fall in love with such a steady man who will always have her back is simply….BEAUTIFUL. Their story is quite difficult at times because of the depth of emotion that is displayed in this book. I was very fascinated in seeing them find each other and seeing their bond just grow.

Now I will say that you can read this as a stand alone, but as a newcomer to this author and to this series I will admit that I do wish that I could have read books one and two beforehand because of the characters we are introduced to and their back stories would have added more depth of understanding to this story. And I can’t wait to read the first two books because I was very intrigued by the women having dreams and the whole “if you are always close and touching nothing can hurt you” and boy I loved these fated style of relationships. And Abbie Roads does it in such a unique style you become hooked and I need MORE!!

Overall I found Never Let Me Fall to be a mind titilating story that keeps you thinking, on the edge and full invested in such a dynamic love tale that stuns you into pondering and one of the most poignant romances of the YEAR!!

I would categorize this as paranormal romantic suspense. Not my usual cup of tea, but this pulled me in and didn't let go. I usually flit between 4 or 5 books, but this one I finished in a day. At first I felt like nothing was happening, but once shit hit the fan, boy did it hit the fan. And the story of their powers and connection and love was just perfect. I loved that this was paranormal without vamps or shifters. It was about their powers. I am sure I would have gotten more out of this by reading the first 2 books, but this can easily be read as a stand alone. I wasn't lost at all. So glad that I got the chance to read an advance copy of this book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher! I really loved it!

This being the third book in the series it was still fresh and inviting. The love story flows and gives hope for them all.

This was a suspenseful story filled with dark secrets, the supernatural, and a generous dose of sizzle🔥

This is the third book in this series focusing on a legend... I did not read the previous two books and I do think this stands perfectly well on its own, but I think I would’ve appreciated some things more had I read the previous books.... there was an ancient legend and there is touch that does a lot including healing... from what I can tell each book focuses on a different couple that is destined to be together... The connection is strong and the love is Swift.... this is definitely Instalove and Instalust, I generally prefer build up to the romance, but in this book it was necessary and pre-destined....

Helena and Thomas are both very damaged, with tragic pasts... Helena was incarcerated for 10 years for a crime she did not commit, and as you can imagine prison was not pleasant to say the least.... Thomas was abused severely by his stepfather to the pointe that he lost sight of color.... but what he gained was the ability to see if a person’s soul was good or bad, something that I think Would be quite handy!

When Thomas meets Helena she brings color into his life, both literally and figuratively... The strength of the story I really thought was in the suspense, there was a pretty crazy villain... this really is a dark story with a lot of disturbing subject matter.... The two main characters both have had brutal passeds and the current story is pretty darn dark! I found myself riveted and glued to the Pages needing some closure...

A compelling story perfect for fans of paranormal romance with a darker Vibe🖤

*** many thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca for my copy of this book ***

Never Let Me Fall brings readers back to Abbie Road's world of twisted secrets with a hint of the paranormal. Thomas and Helena are two characters that have been living in the hell of their pasts and trying to move on in any way they can. But for both of them, those pasts continues to pull them back as the fight to let go. When their paths cross they each get thrown a lifeline and may just find a way to leave their demons.

The second I started this book I was captivated by the suspense and the heart pounding moments as I flipped through the pages. Right away I found both Thomas and Helen to be very intriguing characters and I couldn't wait to get more of them even while I was reading along. And when they met and it became this fateful romance and instant connection between them I fell deeper in love with the story. No matter what was happening on the page, whether it was Helen's story being told, or her and Thomas together, there was always something that had me engrossed and I loved that about the book.

Overall, this was an amazing suspense that I loved. It had those take-you-breath-away moments along with the swoon worthy ones and I thought the combination of that was done brilliantly well. I would say that this book could be read before the other books in the series but I would recommend reading them in order.

4 stars

When I began Never Let Me Fall, I had no idea it was part of a series. While I suspect reading them in order would provide greater understanding, they are certainly able to be enjoyed as stands alone. The author does a spectacular job of bringing us up to date and explaining the odd thread that runs through the series. Normally I'm not a fan of paranormal books but as a mental health counselor, the author has incredible insights into human suffering. In her books, she offers perspective and peace between the pages that the clients hopefully achieve in real life.
Convicted of a crime she didn't commit, Helena Grayse spent her last ten years trying to survive prison and the torture she endured at the hands of the other inmates. Finally free of her prison cell but still locked in grief, shame and a mutilated body, she struggles to trust and find her place. The small town that witnessed her conviction will never accept her and allow her peace so her intent is to leave town, but she has a few things to do first. Visit the graves of her grandparents and the boy she was wrongly convicted of killing and visit the Bear, one last time. Little does she know, the Bear holds all the answers to a lifetime of hurt and betrayal.

Thomas Brown has suffered through a hell a young boy should never experience. The betrayal and abuse of his childhood has given him odd abilities but left him in a black and white world. It stole the color from his world but he can see people's true souls. Seeing a person's life, and motives, through their shadows allows him to deliver justice to people who've been wronged but comes at great personal sacrifice, as it puts him in close proximity to his tormentor, otherwise known as his stepfather and the sheriff of their small town. He's barely holding on until he encounters the one woman who brings bright color back to his life. Simply seeing her across the cemetery brings vibrant colors to life that disappear again when she leaves. Drawn together by a mystical connection that has the power to end all their suffering, he is determined to heal this woman and take their piece of joy. But their pasts aren't through with them yet and they'll have to stay together to beat the enemy this time.

This book was an extraordinary journey through great suffering to find your soulmate. Helena is a warrior, surviving things that should've killed her while retaining some sense of innocence and forgiveness. Thomas had become a protector without him even realizing it but finds his calling in protecting this woman and their fragile, yet powerful connection. I loved the paranormal aspect of the book (which is so odd for me); the Bear legend was fascinating to me and was incredibly well crafted, even though the insta-love was over the top. A truly one of a kind read!

Helena is found guilty of murder and is sent to a women’s reformatory. When she is released she returns to the town she came from without having anyone to turn to. She meets Thomas and changes his life. Together they make sense, they help each other, they understand each other, and they are at peace together. Neither lets the other in easily and they both have their demons to fight but together they can overcome anything.

I love the paranormal aspect of the story. The idea that two people can be connected so deeply that they have to be together, they have to touch each other, and they have to love each other is wonderful. The paranormal part isn’t so unbelievable that it makes the story unbelievable. The paranormal part is more about the connection of two people who make each other whole.

I am an Abbie Roads fan, even though this is the first book of hers that I have read. She has become an author that I know I will continue to read and enjoy. I definitely recommend Never Let Me Fall.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I haven’t bought the book yet, but it is definitely on my list to buy when I can. I own all the other books already.

The cover is steamy!

This is the 3rd book in the series, and it is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content. I recommend reading the whole series in order to better understand the world and history of the series. There is some M/M scenes in this book.

Abbie does a fantastic job pulling you into the world and story. I love her complex world with a paranormal twist. She adds psychological issues that you don’t even think about until you read it.

This is Thomas’ story who is Evanee’s brother. He has a gift that he uses working for the BCI is a black and white world. Until he meets Helen, and she brings color back to his life. They both have histories that bring baggage to their lives, but they bring each other through it together. This is another action-packed story where you aren’t sure where it is going next, and I loved every minute of it!

I highly recommend to anyone who love paranormal crime books because this one rocks, and you won’t be disappointed!

A sinister and romantic love story of intrigue and inspiring tale of perseverance.

Never Let Me Fall, is the 3rd book in the Fatal Dreams series by Abbie Roads. I read all the books in Fatal Dreams series, this title like the last didn’t disappoint when it came to the romance and the intrigue.

Helena Grayse knows terror, and she knows pain. Incarcerated for the slaying of her boyfriend. She spent 10 years fiending of attacks by a group of inmates known as the Sisters. Ten years of being stabbed, beaten and other known atrocities known to man. In that entire time, she spent on dreaming of the day, she can finally escape the horror of Fairson.

Thomas Brown has lived his entire life in black and white. Still capable of delivery justices to families that have been wronged. And in all that time, Thomas was hiding a deep dark secret if his own. A dark secret that has finally been revealed through a posthumous letter, written by his mother.

I truly loved this story. Both Thomas and Helena both refuse to let the horrors of their life, define who they were as human beings. Never Let Me Fall, went on to prove….though life can be vicious at times, it can also be merciful.

All thumbs up for Never Let Me Fall, with a high recommendation to all readers who loves a good mystery intrigue and the supernatural.

I'm not really sure why this book caught my attention. I typically stick to romantic suspense and don't usually read anything remotely paranormal. In any case, I ended up requesting an ARC from Net Galley and enjoying this book. I was intrigued by Thomas's grayscale vision and shocked by the horrific life Helen had survived. The two just really worked together. Helen needed a champion, and Thomas's stepped up. It was definitely insta-love, but it worked because of the paranormal aspect of mirroring an old legend, as if they were inevitably drawn together. I loved the legend and the totem. The story moved quickly and had plenty of drama and action to keep me sucked in to the end plus strong chemistry between the couple.

This is book 3 in the Fatal Dreams series and I admit that I have never read the previous books. I wasn't confused or lost.

This book is very well written and kept me reading. This is a dark and emotional story and it does have triggers like child abuse so it isn't for everyone.

Anyway, I liked this book so much that I added the previous 2 books on my long TBR pile and hopefully I will have the time to read it by January.

I am giving this 4 out of 5.

NEVER LET ME FALL is the third book in Abbie Roads's FATAL DREAMS series - admittedly I haven't read the other two books in this series but this can easily be read as a standalone. With that out of the way let me tell you a little bit about the story of Thomas Brown and Helena Grayse.

I have read Saving Grace by this author and what strikes me most about her stories are the unusual abilities her characters have. Thomas works as a consultant for the FBI. His ability to read the whole life history of a dead body comes in handy when solving cases and he's very prolific at that...but of course his colleagues don't know about his special gift, nor do they know about his ability to see the shadow of death, which seems to be the soul of a person. It can be dark, hot and scary or light and comforting. I really found this concept fascinating.

Helena Grayse knows the horrors of prison. Ten years ago when she was till a teenager on the cusp to adulthood she was incarcerated for killing her boyfriend. Ten years of being stabbed, beaten and every other atrocity in the repertoire of her inmates are behind her.

Her body might not be in Fairson, but Fairson was in her mind.

It's not a coincidence when she meets Thomas. They have an instant connection that feels very much like love at first sight but keep going, the explanation becomes more obvious the farther you read. Their bond is special: Thomas's world turns colorfully vibrant in Helena's presence and Helena suddenly has dreams in which she saves people. Those dreams turn out to be real.

I love alpha males but I also adore the gentle and sweet men and Thomas is one of those. These two main characters have gone through so much and it was obvious that they belonged together in order to heal each other. Helena was so broken and so full of fear. She always expected rejection - she was a convicted felon after all.

She was his other piece. She completed him. Healed him. Made up for all his deficiencies.

Both characters had a loneliness about them that just tucked at my heart and made me incredibly sad for them.

Of course there is a cray-cray villain in this book who gives you the chills. It's pretty obvious from the beginning, but the reasons for his crimes took me completely by surprise. Once I entered the last 25% of the book the story became full of tension and suspense until the nail-biting finale which made my heart pound.

People always thought hate was the opposite of love, but it wasn’t. Hate was the angry, ugly side of love.

Never let me fall is a suspenseful read - while it does have a supernatural touch it still feels real enough. Abbie Roads is becoming an auto-read author fast. I dig her type of Romantic Suspense.

: This is book 3 of this Fatal Dream series. I read it as a stand alone – which is what I will base my review on -but could have been much better if I had read the other books. Thomas is a cop who had a terrible childhood that have left him with the ability to see the dead souls but every thing else in black & white, But when he meets Helena he sees color but way and can he except Helena with all her baggage and problems. Because Helena has been serving 10 years in prison for a murder she has not commit ed and she is seeing dreams. This book is filled with twist and turns that will keep you reading as Thomas and Helena forms a union to lost souls meant for each others – soulmates. It was a moving book but take my advice and Read the other 2 books first.

Abbie Roads is so twisted....but in the most deliciously addictive way! I love how Thomas and Helena, two damaged and wronged souls, ultimately healed each other and became stronger as a whole. She helped him to see color, and he helped her find her voice...all while falling in love and defeating evil. As always, I'm enthralled by Abbie's gifted writing.

This is The First book by Ms. Roads That I read and for sure not The last one! Never Let Me Fall can be read as standalone, as books are interconnected by characters but each book follows a different pair. Helena had A 'rough' Time for last few years. Aha was convicted as a murderer! Ehh? What had to happen? This will be eyeopening part as how Many People is suffering Like That without reason... Thomas is not blind, but he thinks only colors bring joy. And aby is he starting to develop feelings for this strange girl?? Sparks and REAL emotions will fly around this book!

Seeing is believing...

Thomas Brown can't see color, but he can see people's true souls. His abilities allow him to work with criminal investigators and deliver justice to families of the wronged. And he's starting to accept that his life will forever be in black and white...

Then he encounters Helena Grayse, and everything changes. She brings vibrant color to his world, and he brings acceptance and belief to hers. But Helena's past is quickly catching up with her, and Thomas is in the crosshairs.

As an enemy hidden in plain sight threatens their every move, they'll have to rely on their love to beat the darkness.

Review:
Another truly unique and inventive story in this series!

After reading the second book in the series, I was drawn in to read this third book in the series. This story was so well written and exciting that it kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. This story takes on the brother of Evanee, Thomas and what he endured at the hands of his step-father. It also, revolves around Helena and how her life was affected by the sheriff. Thomas and Helena each have special abilities that have affected them and their lives. Thomas and Helena are such tortured characters, but so strong and fighters, I really like that about them. I quite enjoyed the whole mythos behind why they are drawn to protect each other. The baddie in this story is truly Thomas' step-father whose actions have implications on so many lives. I liked how we found out more about Thomas's and Evanee's home life and their parents and step-family. At times the romance between Thomas and Helena is sweet and touching, other times very hot and sexy.

Excellent romantic suspense!

First of all, I want to mention that even though this book is the third in a series you can read it as a standalone. Although it is so well crafted that you get curious about the couples on the first two books if you have not read them, which I haven't, which I definitively will.

This is the story of Thoma's Brown, the brother of Evanee who is the heroine of the previous book, and Helena Grayse, a convicted felon.

From the moment this book started the night before Helen's release from jail to that final scene on the porch I was hooked. This story was so convoluted and full of twists and turns that surprised me at every time.

Helen and Thomas have both been thru a lot of trauma from a very young age and that is something that connects them on a level not seen but felt. But there is much more than connecting them and that more than anything is what saves them time and again.

There was just something about the story that left me filling left out. I felt like something was missing, or it was there and I couldn't see it, that didn't let me completely enjoy the story. But whatever it was I guess it was just my problem and I recommend this book to anyone who likes their romance with a sprinkle of paranormal on it.

Never Let Me Fall is the third book in the Fatal Dreams series and it can be read as a standalone. This book is fast paced and in true Abbie Roads fashion has the perfect balance of mystery, thriller, and romance. I love the continual integration of the Fearless and Bear story. There are some pretty dark moments in this story that may be difficult for some readers. This isn't a cute flirty romance, but a darker romance about two people who have experienced an unimaginable amount of pain in their lives finding each other and happiness. I was drawn so deeply into Thomas and Helen's story that I flew through it in one day!

I voluntarily received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
