I've loved Nalini Singh's books since I first picked up her Psy-Changeling series. I've absolutely loved her Guild Hunter series and I was so excited to get my hands on an ARC. But Oh, my giddy aunt! This book, you guys! This book is a ride! I just have one thing to say:

HOW DARE YOU?!?

You know what you did, Nalini.

This book was... I read this months ago and I still don't have the words yet to discuss the crazy roller coaster ride this was. It was just one thing after another. My heart feels like it's gone 12 rounds with Mike Tyson. And that ending?!? OMG! I NEED THE NEXT BOOK ASAP! I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!

I have the feeling that there is a lot of change coming to the Guild Hunter and that ending left a lot open. The next big Cascade event is coming and nobody has an idea what change it will bring. Clearly some change is already coming because that ending! I guess we should be thankful that it took eleven books for Nalini Singh to leave us on a cliffhanger ending.

I can't find the words to describe this book without spoiling things in it. I always look forward to reading each new Guild Hunter book every year. This series is hands down one of my favorite urban fantasy series worlds. Nalini Singh is a true master storyteller. Her incredibly well plotted arcs and dynamic characters always suck me in and don't let me go until I've ran out of pages. Archangel’s Prophecy was no different. I loved it even though it emotionally comprised me. It's going to be a long wait for the next book. I guess I'm just going to have to reread the whole series while we wait for it to be next fall.

The Guild Hunter series is one of my favorites, especially when the storyline focuses on primary characters Elena and Raphael, and Archangel’s Prophecy places the angelic couple back on center stage. It’s been about two and a half years since the trip to Morocco and Elena’s discovery that her maternal grandparents are alive. She’s back in Manhattan and doing her job as a Hunter. While the Cascade has been fairly quiet for these couple of years, new events begin to unfold, and Elena herself appears to be a victim of the Cascade.

So… where do I begin with my review of this series-changing story? It’s hard to write a spoiler-free review because of how I felt about some of the events during the action-filled climatic fight scene and the last several chapters of the book. I will let you know up front that the ending of the book is sort of cliffhangery. There are some huge Cascade-driven events happening to the world which directly impact Raphael and Elena, and we don’t know the extent of these changes by the conclusion of Archangel’s Prophecy.

Overall, the story is masterfully crafted, both mentally and emotionally satisfying. Elena’s vampiric brother-in-law is brutally attacked and with the threat of danger to her sister and niece, Elena personally takes on the case. She works with her companions and the Guild to piece together a puzzle that no one even knew existed. Meanwhile, the Cascade has brought another ancient out of Sleep, haunting Elena, sharing a dooming prophecy. And if that isn’t enough, Elena’s wings begin to fail and it appears as if her transformation to immortality is regressing. As difficult as these changes are for Elena to adjust to, the end results have the potential to break her Archangel lover. The entire situation lends itself to powerfully emotional scenes - I’ll admit I shed some tears. More importantly, they give space for the author to continue to write one of the most powerful love stories ever. It’s hard to imagine, but Raphael and Elena grow even closer, cementing their already unbreakable union.

While I loved over 90% of the book, I did have a couple issues with the last bits. First, I was disappointed with the use of the Cascade in the climatic fight scene. No spoilers - but it felt too easy to blame certain aspects of the action on the Cascade. Second, the last several chapters felt out of place with the book. While they give readers a small amount of closure for the existing storylines, I felt they did more to set up the next book, which indicates to me maybe they shouldn’t have been included in Archangel’s Prophecy. They sort of prolonged the ending rather than give closure.

In the end, Archangel’s Prophecy is another wonderful chapter in Ms. Singh’s Guild Hunter series. The combination of amazing world-building, creative storylines, fulfilling character development, and sublime romance makes this book and series one of my all-time favorites. While I may be a bit afraid of what will happen next, I completely trust in Ms. Singh’s vision and storytelling.

My Rating: B+ Liked It A Lot

Hot damn. HOT. DAMN.

Who do I have to sleep with to get the next book in this series, because the cliffhanger in this one? It just may kill me.

But seriously. I started reading Archangel's Prophecy with the firm belief that everything will be OK in the end, I'd get to spend time with one of my favorite couples and I ended up being on an emotional roller coaster that at times had my heart fly out of my chest.

Nothing is right in Elena and Raphael's world. Elena reversing from immortal to mortal is giving both of them (and everyone else around them) serious grief. The prophecy doesn't predict sweet things for Elena and the Cascade is back in full effect. At the same time while she is fighting weird symptoms that weaken her our beloved Guild Hunter is trying to solve a case that involves her brother in law being assaulted and in a coma. No rest for the wicked. Or so.

“I will undo the universe for you.”

In all of this, however, we see the deep love the mortal-turned-angel and her archangel have for one another. It is something Nalini Singh excels at - she doesn't just tell us what her characters feel, she shows us and makes us feel along with them with every beautiful word she writes. You feel Raphael's despair and fury about his helplessness in the face of Elena's decline, his endless love for her that can only be described in superlatives. The way he loves her is just breathtakingly sweet and beautiful, they are made for one another.

"Eternity, Elena, that is what you promised me. His mental voice was ragged, his body possessive and primal in her, around her. I will never release you from that promise."

Elena's determination and love for life, her smart mouth, her keen intelligence and her hope even when things are hopeless, those are the things I adore so much about her. It's all there.

He was fighting fear, too. She felt an ache deep inside her heart; she was the reason he understood fear, and she wished that weren’t true.

ARCHANGEL PROPHECY is one of my top favorites in this series. It kept me on the edge of my seat with its twists and turns, had me holding my breath and shattered my heart and shredded it in the best way possible. And that CLIFFHANGER. Why? How can Nalini Singh leave us hanging like that?

Now the wait begins for the next book and I hope that Ms Singh writes like the wind.

So. If anyone can point me to the person who I need to bribe for the next book...I pay well.

Just kidding. I don't have money. My offer from the beginning of my review still stands.

In Archangel’s Prophecy, we are back to Raphael and Elena as the main characters in this installment. Normally, they aren’t my favorites to hang out with in this Guild Hunter series. *Gasp* I know, I know but I’ve never really warmed to Raphael. However, at least I don’t want to stab a pencil in his eye anymore so we’ve come a long way.

“Mess with me and I will shoot you through the heart, I swear to God. I am so far past hangry, I’m homicidal.”

This starts out pretty ominously, with some cataclysmic events happening in the world, and a prophecy that leaves the reader wondering how will Elena fare after all is said and done. Raphael is evolving and it appears Elena will need something significant to happen to her if they will beat the next big bad challenge on the horizon.

Elena also has the challenge of figuring out who tried to kill her brother-in-law and why. There are a few vamps that have come to some gruesome ends recently and somehow Harrison is tied to it. Elena must figure it out before destiny tracks her down if she is going to keep her sister and niece safe.

The Legion is an interesting concept in this series and I like how other worldly they still seem. They are ancient but still like children. I love the interactions Elena has with them throughout this series and how they seem to understand what is happening but have been asleep for so long that the details seem a little like those of a dream. They are so close but also just on the edge of awareness.

The best part of this was the strange stuff happening with Elena and the ‘messenger’ who is watching her. The worst part of the book was also the stuff happening with Elena because I’m so worried about her. There is some funny in-between all of that too.

“The basic definition of a parasite is an organism that lives on or inside a host and feeds off that host. Therefore all fetuses are technically parasites. A fetus with DNA from an archangel will be a super-parasite,” she added cheerfully. “It’ll suck you dry of energy, so you’d better be really old and strong before you start thinking about the flitter-flutter of tiny wings.”

Elena slitted her eyes and pointed. “You’re having fun making my future offspring”— and jeez, she was never going to be ready for those—“sound like energy-draining horrors.”

But that ending…Because I received an eARC from the publisher, I don’t get the sneak peak of the next book which might have made me feel better about where Archangel’s Prophecy ended. I’m definitely eager to see what is going on with Elena and Raphael and how this evolution will work. Also, remember how once upon a time I wanted to stab a pencil through Raphael’s eye? Well, he has been totally redeemed. That Angel would rip out his heart for Elena and so I’m going to cut him some slack since he didn’t have any humanity in him when we first met.

Overall, a good side mystery happening to go along with the main story arc. Since this is a well-established couple, most of the story revolved around the mystery and the next step in the Convergence. I definitely wasn’t ready for the book to end this time around.

Archangel's Prophecy

Guild Hunter - Book 15

By Nalini Singh

Berkley Sensation - October 2018

Urban Fantasy

This review assumes that the reader has read the previous books in Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series, and does contain spoilers to those books. Due to the complex world building and continuing storylines, it is recommended to read this series in order.

Nothing that mortal-born turned angel Elena and her Archangel Raphael have faced can prepare them for their newest threat. Elena may now have wings, but they are failing. Instead of growing stronger into her new immortality, she appears to be regressing. But this isn't the only crisis she is facing. Her beloved sister and niece are at risk after her brother-in-law is brutally attacked. She may not care for the vampire, but her sister loves him dearly, and he seems to reciprocate the feeling and adores his daughter.

Then there is the voice Elena hears in her head. And of course not one that tells of joyful tidings, but of her own demise. Could there be another ancient awakening? One who might be causing a possible volcanic activity near New York City?

Elena might not have all the answers to the challenges she faces, but she does know one thing. She and Raphael would face them together.

Archangel's Prophecy is a bridge to the next book in the Guild Hunter series and will leave readers yearning to learn the answers left without resolution. We have seen Elena fight so many battles both physical and psychological, and she faces her possible mortality with equal bravery. As always, I enjoyed the interactions with all the other characters in the series, some of whom have already had their own romances. One of whom still needs to find his own heroine. Hopefully, there won't be as long a wait to find out what happens after The End of Archangel's Prophecy.

I’m not sure how to review this book without giving away spoilers. Although I’m sure by now, most romance readers aware that Elena and Raphael are once again in the spotlight and have heard the ruckus over the cliffhanger ending.

Archangel’s Prophecy starts out slow and easy, readers are thrown right back into a familiar world. I always enjoy those first few chapters of reacquainting myself with beloved characters. Elena and Raphael are the very heart and soul of this series so I never mind when they are the primary focus. This book moves the events of the next Cascade forward by having Elena go through a regression of sorts. Her body is changing, her mortality is returning and no one seems to know what to do about it. An angel of myth and wonder is whispering in her mind of prophecy and telling her that her time is near and she must prepare. She and Raphael are terrified and intend to fight and make their own future. And during all this Elena is working to uncover the identity of the person who attacked her brother-in-law.

So yes, there is a lot going on.

I don’t want to give any spoilers away, so I’m going to take this review nice and easy. I enjoyed this book quite a bit, and wasn’t really bothered by the cliffhanger. Although, I will say that now that I am absolutely dying to get my hands on the next book in the series. I thought I was mentally prepared going into the last few chapters, because I absolutely knew something big was about to happen to Elena, but I soooooo wasn’t. Those last five or six chapters slayed me. I got choked up. Midnight, sitting in bed with my Kindle, and I was racing through page after page to see what would happen next.

This book changes everything. It had me wondering if Ms. Singh was maybe thinking of wrapping things up and moving toward a big finale. Other than Bluebell and Sparkle (who I still desperately want to end up together) all the rest of the Seven have found their true loves and have (mostly) settled down. I think with the events of Archangel’s Prophecy that the Cascade is moving closer and we will once and for all see Raphael and Elena defeat Lijuan. Might there be an end to the series in sight? Maybe?

One thing I do know, the next installment with almost definitely feature Elena and Raphael once again. I mean it almost has to. Which means that I will have to keep waiting to see if my beloved Bluebell will finally realize that the love of his life has always been the man who also happens to be his longest and closest friend. That’s fine, I’ll wait.

Final Grade- B+

Amazing!!! Ok, call me crazy but I seem to like to jump into series just to see if I'll like it. I didn't like it. I LOVED it! Like really, really loved it! I've actually never read this author before either. Again, crazy I know. I kept seeing her books pop up with so many of my book friends and I get it now. I'm so excited that I get to go back to book one and enjoy the ride Nalini Singh has created.

What did I love about it so much? I'll start with Raphael. He was perfection to me. I have this thing for heroes who are dangerous and scary, cold and aloof, but only if he isn't that way to the heroine. I like the idea that only she can make him human. Now, there were some flash backs that hint at him not being that way to her in the beginning but instead of making me leery, I'm more anxious to see how she broke through to him. And what he did at the end of this book...WOW!

On top of my favorite type of hero, this also had my favorite type of heroine. Elena was awesome! I love a heroine who is tough but soft with their hero. A heroine who can fight and kick some serious butt. That's Elana. Even during her struggle of regressing back to human she kicked butt in this book. Added bonus was she wasn't too tough to lean on Raphael. She called him when she needed him instead of stubbornly trying to not appear weak. This couple was fantastic!

Side characters were so interesting and added enough into this book that get me excited to see if any of them have a book of their own. Then the plot had me at the edge of my seat. I had no idea where things were headed and had me pushing to read faster. It didn't dissappoint.

That ending is huge. It's a major cliffhanger and I can not wait to see what is going to happen next. I'm so happy I jumped into this series. Nalini Singh has a new fan in me. I want more!

I found ARCHANGEL's PROPHECY a 4.5 star read. I'm a huge fan of Singh's writing and love the Guild Hunter storyline so you are wondering why not a straight out 5. Every once in a while you a novel in the series is a build up to the next major plot shift...ARCHANGEL'S PROPHECY is definitely one of these major plot shift books leaving you hanging at the end and left me still wondering where this book will go next. The What ifs and possibilities will leave you pondering long after you are through.

I received this ARC copy of Archangel's Prophecy from Berkley Publishing Group. This is my honest and voluntary review. Archangel's Prophecy is set for publication October 30, 2018.

Note: If you haven’t started the Guild Hunter series yet, then you need to start from the begging. Their is an over all ARC and character development.

Elena has a fight on her hands and it my just end her life….

Now, Elena and Raphael have had their challenges throughout this series, but in this one destiny and prophecy and the Cascade are all agents them. Elena is losing her immortality, but she will not give up without a fight. I cried, I felt, and I hurt for all involved in this installment. This was an emotional and heartbreaking read. The ending will leaving you reeling and shocked.

Besides the Cascade and Elena’s fight with destiny, we have a murder mystery going on and a Consort determined to protect those she loves. We also get little snippets, POV’s, of The Legend. I really enjoyed seeing their perspective; especially at the end, when you know time is moving on, but you can’t figure out how much time and what the outcome will be.

Ms. Singh has delivered another superb installment in the Guild Hunter series. It’s a fight, It’s an FU to prophecy and destiny, and one emotional roller coaster ride. I can’t wait for the next installment; especially after that ending.

Rated: 4.5 Stars

Archangel's Prophecy, by author Nalini Singh, is the 11th installment in the authors Guild Hunter series. Welcome back once again to an Alternative US where Archangel's, vampires, and Guild Hunters play a dangerous game where only the strongest survive. One of the strongest is Elena Deveraux. Elena is an Hunter-Angel born with the capacity to track vampires and angels by their scent. She is also consort to the most powerful immortal in North America; Archangel Raphael.

This book is really a multi-pronged story arc. First, it appears as though the second incarnation of the Cascade: a confluence of time and unknown critical events that ignited a power shift in Archangels, has returned and this time it may be Elena herself who is the one that the Cascade will affect the most. Elena finds herself shedding feathers and nothing seems to actually work to help her explain the problem, or why it is happening to her now.

What's even more bizarre, is that someone, presumably a sleeper Archangel, has noticed Elena and is whispering things in her mind. Things that are so shocking that you have to wonder if the author is going to go there. As an Angel-Made, Elena is breaking new ground that hasn't been seen in millennial. You really have to feel for what Elena is going through in this story, while also questioning some of the things she does.

She keeps getting weaker and weaker and one has to wonder if she is reverting back to her human form, or if the author has something sinister in plan for her whenever she next features Elena and Raphael. The next part of the story hits close to home when her brother-in-law Harrison is attacked by an unknown assailant and her sister is threatened which sends Elena on a mission to find those responsible. The further she searches, along with Ashwini and Janvier, the deeper she gets into the city she lives in, and the vampires who are looking for the next big thing when it comes to stimulation. With Elena slowly unraveling, finding Harrison's attacker becomes a priority above everything else.

I will say this, Elena's struggles are real, but the Harrison issue was a bit too easily solved. Instead of fighting for her own survival, she kind of just acts like nothing is wrong, and that she will survive because of her love for Raphael. Not to put the horse before the cart, but I have a very bad feeling that things are going to get even more bizarre from here on out. My advice is to ignore all the reviews of your favorite bloggers, pick up the book, and see for yourself what sinister things the author has conjured up in order to make this story one of the more curious endings in this entire series. It's only fair to warn you that the book ends on a blistering cliffhanger.

***5 ‘Fear Will Not Ruin Us’ Stars***

Really? REALLY? That’s where things end off?!?!?

*Takes a deep breath and lets it out*

Ok, so, this book took me on one hell of a ride. I mean between the synopsis and the first lines of some of the reviews already posted simply from scrolling through GR, (I refused to read any in full and kept scrolling) I knew it would be intense, but I wasn’t fully prepared for it all. I laughed (super-parasites), I got all kinds of swoony and twitterpated but I also got all growly and even had the whole sniffly, rapid eye blinking pretending I had dust in my eyes thing going on. This hit all my buttons and with that ending? Yeah, I need the next book in the series like...yesterday.

Now, I’m a fangirl of the author and the series, so you can imagine how excited I get when the next book in the series is announced. I don’t care if it’s a book focused on Raphael or Elena or on another couple, I simply adore the world of the Guild Hunter and all the crazy that goes on in it and Archangel’s Prophecy solidified its place in my bookishAF heart. I loved seeing how Raphael and Elena’s relationship has evolved and how strong they are together, even when it broke my heart to see the toll the prophecy was taking on them.

But even more than that, I loved seeing how the relationships between all of the characters I’ve come to know, love and in some cases, tolerate have evolved. Getting to spend time with the Seven, the Guild Hunters, Tower staff and Elena’s family, as well as the Cadre, was a lot of fun and is something always I look forward to whenever I pick up a GH book and this one is chock full of moments. There were a few things that surprised me and a couple of not new, but not well known characters until now, that have peaked my interest and I’m crossing my toes we will see more of them in the future, but overall I got everything I had been jonesing for when it came to this unique cast of characters...at least for now.

I know that this is all vague and verbal vomitty and I haven’t gone in depth at all when it comes to the plot, but that is on purpose. You the reader need to go into as blind as possible, though I think I’ve set you on a semi-knowing path path with just my feelings on it. What I will say is that I thoroughly enjoyed how the author wove all the elements together into an intriguing story. She has a way with words that draws me in and leaves me wanting more and in this case she definitely had me turning those pages to see what would happen next, as well as who would pop up and grace me with their presence next.

Note: If you haven’t started this series then this is NOT the place to start, pick up Angel’s Blood and get ready for a wild ride. And if you’re into audio, then I highly recommend the audiobooks, the narrator, Justine Eyre does an amazing job at bringing the characters and world to life!

Wow, we’re at book ELEVEN already? I swear it seems just yesterday I nicked the first in this series out of an old lady’s hand who had waffled on buying just a little too long for me. You snooze you lose! Finally back in Manhattan with our favorite pair main couple, Elena and Raphel, we immediately learn the calm before the storm is over. Using a base dipped in rich mythology and legend; it drapes itself over the story like a possessive lover. Clues from previous stories begin to make sense as Singh weaves a compelling tale of love, loss, betrayal, and sacrifice. I’m being purposely obtuse here as I really don’t want to spoil and there is ALOT to spoil in here. Archangel’s Prophecy is the turning point and there is no going back. Be forewarned, there is a bit of a cliffhanger in here though, in my opinion, it only adds to the overall anticipation once you get over the shock. I did feel the secondary storyline cluttered the main storyline and that the main conflict became a little verbose and repetitive towards the end.

Elena is regressing. The first human to ever be made immortal, she suddenly finds herself becoming more human as the world slowly begins to burn. A voice haunts Elena’s mind as a serial killer stalks the streets and the Cadre learns that the Archangel Favashi is beginning to show signs of madness. As Raphel races to save his beloved consort and mankind, it may be too late for any of them.

Copy received via Netgalley for an honest review

I am new to the Guild Hunter series (my fault, when I requested this book I read it is book #1 not #11) however I am hooked.

What an emotional ride. I had no idea what to expect as I dove in, as I have not read any of Nalini Singh's paranormal books. I have enjoyed her other other books that I have read thought.

It felt, to me as a new to series reader, that there were big changes on the horizon, but that could just be me.

And OMG, that ending? Woah.

I will be going back to read the previous books in the series, and am looking forward to reading more in the future.

I'm always excited for any new Nalini Singh book, but when I found out the next Guild Hunter novel would be Elena and Raphael again I was beyond thrilled! I cannot get enough of the archangel of NY and his consort.

You really have to read these in order (at least have read the ones that focus on Elena and Raphael) or you will be lost. Singh has created a unique world that will be lost on readers who aren't caught up on the series. Archangel's Prophecy picks up when the cascade is causing havoc again. In addition, Elena is having some very strange symptoms. Her wings are quite right, she isn't healing like an immortal should, and she is hearing voices in her head speaking of her impending death. The world is in total turmoil! Raphael has to focus on all the world's problems as well as face the possibility that Elena could die. And, another archangel could be awakening soon. Cassandra is SUPER old and therefore VERY powerful. This could seriously throw the world into chaos...and combined with the Cascade...YIKES!

Woven into all this major drama is an issue with Elena's sister and brother in law. Someone nearly killed Harrison and threatened Beth and their daughter. Elena is desperate to figure out who the threat is so she can protect Beth. Because, you know, she isn't dealing with bat crap crazy stuff going on around her and in her own body!

I love Elena and Raphael. Elena is the quintessential 'badass heroine'. She is a vampire hunter who is very good at her job. She is the consort to an archangel, but doesn't let that title become her only identity. Raphael is a big, badass archangel but he so loves Elena. Their love is sweet and in contrast to how deadly they both are. They are one of my all time favorite fictional couples.

Fans of the series will love this new edition! You get not only more Elena and Raphael, but snippets of all your favorites from the previous books! Archangel's Prophecy is everything you want from a Guild Hunter book and will leave you elated and already counting down for the next edition (because THAT ENDING!?!?!)

Since Elena Deveraux became an angel Made, not much has meant more to her than the beautiful wings of midnight and dawn that her beloved Archangel, Raphael, bestowed upon her with his ambrosial kiss. Unexpectedly, those wings that brought her the ultimate joy of freedom in the skies are failing Elena. With the Cascade once more ramping up, and this time to extreme levels, strange things begin happening around the world with the weather and land. In Raphael’s territory near to home, a lava pit has opened up in an area not known for that kind of activity. Clearly, this is not just a natural phenomenon. More than two plus years have passed since Elena and Raphael returned from the Cadre meeting in Morocco. After a period of relative peace, they suddenly have several issues to deal with all at once: all the strange Cascade-born happenings, Elena’s downward spiral almost literally, and an assault on someone in Elena’s family circle.

Elena hears a strange voice giving her chilling prophecies while also being followed by otherworldly creatures that mostly only she can see. The very other Legion comes more into play as Elena seeks help from those ancient, gargoyle-like warriors. She finds their enigmatic answers to be more often frustrating than helpful. The Primary of the Legion reveals more about the aeclari designation as well as how it will affect the fate of the world. Archangel Favashi, who took over China, shows signs of aggression and possibly madness. Raphael and the other archangels are stretched thin dealing with all the upheaval in their territories while also closely watching Favashi, who rules the largest territory of them all, as her behavior becomes more erratic.

Elena urgently wants to solve a Guild case in which she has a personal interest before her body fails completely. Raphael will do anything including tear the world apart in order to save Elena, and no matter what the odds look like, they will never give up and never give in despite the incredible cost. The extremes Raphael willingly goes too will leave the reader astounded.

Two words best describe this amazing book: wow and intense. Readers will react strongly to this 11th Guild Hunter story, in part, because it contains a major cliffhanger. Ms. Singh puts fans of this excellent series through the ringer along with her characters this time. The bumpy and exhilarating ride that is ARCHANGEL’S PROPHECY comes packed full of thrills and chills which will leave you breathless at the end and desperately wishing for the next book, fascinated and afraid, in equal measures to see how it all plays out.

Eleven books ago, Elena and Raphael's love story was forged over New York city when Raphael loves true and generates ambrosia to make the first angel in known memory. They have enjoyed many adventures since that moment but now Elena is regressing and losing all her angelic powers, Golden owls and a prophecy from the archangel Cassandra suggest that Elena will die and not even an archangel can keep that death at bay or can he?
Elena is hunter born and survived things that could kill an angel so a mere prophecy? Determined to fight back and live despite the prophecy she goes about her daily life, loving, living it to the max. Her friends and family rally around her as she investigates the most heinous crime and Raphael even generates ambrosia in her most extreme moment.
Yet, nothing seems to be able to stem the tide. Elena continues to get more mortal. Where she had once thought that she would be watching her human friends age and die while she watched over their kids it seems that destiny might prove her wrong. When her brother-in-law is attacked it seems that even her father might be rallying around again.
Determined at least to leave Beth safe by finding who wants Beth's husband dead she investigates and follows the clues even as she watches the prophecy come true. The suspense is gripping as the story unfolds with all the characteristic emotional impact of a Singh story. All of our favorite characters are present, angels, hunters, vampires as is the arch villainess Lijuan who it seems has evolved such that nothing can put her down.
Once again, we leave Raphael and Elena at the edge of a cliff. Will they recover to fight another day? How will they be changed by this latest episode. I'm just sorry that we'll have to wait a whole year to see where the author's imagination will take this story next.

Elena Deveraux. Vampire Hunter. Hunter born. Bad-ass fighter. Archangel's Consort. The first mortal to become angel-made. Elena has grown into her role as all of these things over the course of the Guild Hunters series. But now she is regressing into a mortal and no-one, angel or vampire, can figure out why. With the world still shaken from the effects of the Cascade and the madness of Lijuan fresh in everyone's memory, everyone is jumping at the smallest strangeness. Sudden lava pits, a strange set of murders, and ghost owls only Elena can see take things to a whole new level of Cascade-Weirdness. Elena and Raphael must try to change destiny and protect their friends and their world or an ancient prophecy will come true- and Elena may not survive it.

Like most of the Guild Hunters series, (Archangel's Viper) Archangel's Prophecy does a good job of walking the fine line between personal problems and relationships and world-shattering change and clashes of archangels. And Elena is, as always, the heart of the series. Her view guides readers through the harsh world of immortals while at the same time reminding many immortals of their own capacity for kindness and wonder. And she does her best to always remember (and remind others) that what is most important in the world, whether you are human or immortal, is love, friendship, and family. So it is really no surprise that even when her own world seems to be crashing down around her, what she focuses on is a sudden threat to her sister and niece. And it is a testament to Raphael's love and understanding that he doesn't try to wrap Elena up and hide her safely somewhere, but supports her hunt for a murderer even when she is at her weakest. Elena and Raphael remind me a lot of Eve and Roarke in J.D. Robb's In Death series. They may view the world very differently at times, and have come to the same place in very different ways, but despite the occasional fight, they are a perfect partnership. Supportive, wildly in love when they thought it wasn't possible, they compliment and anchor each other perfectly.

It's hard to talk too much about Prophecy without giving away too many spoilers. But it is another example of Nalini Singh's wonderful writing genius: emotional, compelling, fast-paced, edge of your seat action, with just the right amount of humor and softer moments mixed throughout. Readers new to the series would probably do best to read some of the earlier books first to get the most out of Prophecy and long-time series readers won't be able to put it down! Just be aware that it ends with the biggest cliff-hanger Singh has ever given us and will leave you begging for the next book to find out what happens!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

SHATTER. SHATTER. SHATTER.

We've had a prophecy for a while now, and all of us fans have been trying to figure out what it's driving us towards. Well, obviously you already know this book is going to have some focus on that, what with it being the title and all that. ;)

This book kind of felt like more buildup, more setting up a story, with the main plotline for the book feeling like it took a major back burner to the forward momentum of the overarching series storyline. That's fine, I guess, but the way this one ended, with an almost-cliffhanger, very few answers, and lots more questions, it left me wanting more. That's normally not a bad thing, because the best books always leave you really begging for the next... which I am. I love this series (in spite of all the lady bits and "really, you're stopping to do that NOW?" moments that come with paranormal romance... UF is my typical preferred genre), so I definitely am already pumped and ready for the next book. Seriously, gimme! But normally, Nalini doesn't leave me wanting more out of the book I just finished. I'm usually satisfied with my current entree, and still ready for the next course. Unfortunately, with the main plot of this one feeling so secondary, it kind of felt like picking up a movie 20 minutes after it starts and leaving 20 minutes before it ended -- all the middle story and world-building without the big details being introduced well or tied up with a bow.

Anyways, it's Nalini and it's a great series, and it's still an awesome book. So, overall, I'll give it 3.5 out of 5, rounded up to a nice neat 4 stars. Even with the flaws, it's absolutely still a must-read, because this series is interesting and intriguing and chock full of great characters and a REALLY cool world.

This book was hard to rate, much less review. Let me start with the fact there are 3 pretty major plots in this book:

1. - Elana seems to be regressing back to a human

2. - She has to find a killer that threatens her sister and niece

3. - In China, the Archangel Favashi is seemingly showing signs of madness ...... or something

This book kept me kind of stressed out the whole way through, you keep telling yourself "Nalini Singh won't allow this to happen .... will she?" and that sets the mood for most of the book.

I think this may be one of the better books in the series but a LOT is happening and sadly of the 3 plots above, only 2 of them get resolved and so we get a bit of a cliffhanger on the other one which might drive me crazy before the next book comes out sometime in 2019 (I assume).

We do get a bit more insight into the "Legion" but even though we have 3 plots moving along simultaneously and each is handled masterfully the Elana plot overshadows them all and even me, the guy who gives 5 Stars to most of her books had to lower this one to 4 because of the cliffhanger and some really bizarre things close to the end that stretched my ability to accept this reality and the fact that the ending to plot number 2 seemed to be rushed a bit after a ton of buildup.

There are so many great things about this book I hated not to love it to death but when you invest a reader so deeply into a plot and then don't bring it to a conclusion it grates on me and waiting a year to find out what happens is not my idea of fun.

The fact that after all my above complaints I gave it 4 Stars should give you an idea of how good this book is so buy and enjoy or buy it and wait until the next one but this is one you can't skip folks.

Having read the book in series I was very excited about this book. I have to give this book mixed reviews I enjoyed the intrigue of the story and my heart breaks at Elaina losing her wing. I Hated the ending and wanted to ask when is the next book due. I want to know what happen next. I enjoy the romance and the story just not the ending.
