Oh wow! Sherri sure knows how to begin a story! I've followed the Dark Hunter series from book 1 and have wanted to know more about Urian since we first met him. This excerpt (which is a HUGE excerpt) whet my appetite and now I'm craving the rest of the story. I can't wait until I can get my hands on Stygian and finish where I left off!

Oh my gosh! This preview has me salivating for more. I have been dying for Urian's book and it is not a disappointment.

I love being able to see little Uri and hos family dynamics. Release day cannot come quick enough!

This is one of my favorite authors and I love the imagery and the feelings her characters invoke in a reader. My only caveat is that she can beat a dead horse to death. If there is torture it takes up half of the book giving you just about every form of torture that person can endure. If there is destruction it’s taken to an extreme and its unending. Once we get past the destruction from Apollymi and she really goes on a rampage we get to the story of Urian.

I haven’t visited the Dark Hunters in a while but this book refreshed my memory and gave insightful information on missing parts of different characters. Even thou this was just an excerpt you could feel the struggle and conflict within Urian. Wanting so much to protect his mother but desperately wanting to be accepted for who he is. How an innocent meeting with a dragon can lead to so much more.

You need a flow chart to keep up with who was switched at birth, who knows what secret goes with which person, who’s playing both sides, this is certainly not light reading. There were many heart-warming moments seeing the parental love between many of the characters, the blush of first love, the sting of betrayal and the slow build of anger. It is definitely an emotional roller coaster since we know many of these characters later in life. You get a glimpse into their past to see what may have started them on the path they ended up on.

Oh wow. This is wonderful. I can feel how much Ms. Kenyon loves Urian. I feel this is one of the best books she has written recently. I love all of her books but this one has a little extra in it an I've only read an excerpt. I am waiting with baited breath for the full book to be released on the 28th. This is an excerpt, not the complete novel so I can only tell you want I thought of the excerpt I read. I can't believe we are at 29 books in the Dark Hunter series, yet Kenyon still manages to provide a fresh, surprising plot that gravitates the reader right into the Dark Hunter's world. This is a huge series and to really enjoy it, it should be read in order...you don't want to miss a thing. To give a brief description of the series, I'd have to say the Dark Hunter series is a world where magic and myth, legends and romance collide with a paranormal romance, historical paranormal romance and urban fantasy...MAKES FOR SOME AMAZING READING.

This excerpt of Stygian provides details and back history, that even me, a devoted Dark Hunter fan found startling and thrilled to learn. I can't wait to get the entire story, I was definitely left wanting more!

My Rating: 4 stars (but you can't really rate it until its complete and I, unfortunately, don't have my hands on the full book until my preordered copy arrives August 28th).

Up to this point, it's been a love / hate relationship with Urian. After the preview, it's definitely leaning hard towards love.
From his birth to another mother and his raising as an Apollite, his two marriages and his love for a dragon lady - Urians story unfolds to give you a look at how he lived prior to the villainous and later heroic roles in the series.
There's still more to learn about him and I cant wait to see what happens with him and love. I know where he began, and where he ends - but what lies in store for Urian in the inbetween.
I'm really going to need to reread as I cant reconcile his father's pride and love for the boy with the man who harms him later.
Must read, add to your tbr, especially if you already adore the series.

In Stygian we get the story of Urian. Who is growing up in Kolosis, with his brothers and sister. Stryker being his Damion father and his human mother. How he meets and becomes friends with a dragon named Serrazyn. Urian has his fair share of struggles with having to drink blood, being an Apollite, and the curve balls life throws at him. This book so far has it all, the action, the heartfelt moments, and the vivid world building that captures the reader.
I would recommend this book to fans of the series as well as anyone who loves fantasy and romance.

Fun starter even if read like a journal like Acheron or Styxx. Still love Urion but want to read something more up to date than forever ago. Backstories are nice but not a full book length worth all the time. It's becoming repetitive.

I freaking love Sherrilyn Kenyon & her Dark Hunter series and this does not disappoint! Her characters are so rich and engaging.

So let's just talk about this glorious book that I received an excerpt of. I have followed Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series from the very beginning. I have been through all the highs and all the lows of all the books because after umpteenth number of books not all of them are going to be good however this book is going to be glorious!

Like I mentioned before I just read an excerpt of this book and I don't know how long it's going to be but I am more than excited for it. This book is all about Urian and his origins. I have to admit that I didn't think Sherrilyn was going to go from the very very beginning but I'm all for it.

I cannot wait for the rest of this book and from what I read I already know this book is going to be 5+ rating because it's simply amazing there's no doubt in my mind that this is going to be one of her top books from the series. It's going to be rated high up there with Styxx which seems fitting.

If the full book is anything like the preview than I am going to be one happy lady!!

How his fathers people are cursed to never see daylight live off blood and die at 27 or become Daimon. I am so in love with everything Sherrilyn that is not new news, I just love coming back to this world over and over again. its so good. This little teaser was greatly appreciated!

This is going to be incredible, I can tell. I love the special books that she writes that has the extended backstory. I read somewhere that she has a PhD in history, and I can tell she did her research. I love that a different type of Daimon exists. I know a lot of them were annihilated, but I hope we see the Marzanni again.

I am going to cry great big tears if Urian and Sarraxyn don’t finally get to be with one another.

When I saw Stygian on Netgalley, I could not click “request” fast enough. Then, to my dismay, I discovered it was a preview excerpt instead of the entire novel. I will have to wait for the paperback to finish the story.

The excerpt basically covers Urian’s childhood and life in Kalosis, following the first years of the Apollite’s curse. I like how Kenyon explains how some of the Apollite’s assimilated their new circumstances. It reveals how Stryker came reside in Kalosis and owe fealty to Apollymi.

I especially love how this excerpt shows the type of father Stryker had been to his children. It is neat to see that side of the man. Also, I have always been curious about Davyn. Why both Urian and Stryker treated the man like family?

I loved this story! I read all of Sherrilyn Kenyon's novels [that are not the YA ones] so when this popped up as an option I didn't really read the excerpt enough to know who's story it was going to be because that didn't matter to me! To find out that it was Urian's was a surprise and a completely wonderful surprise. I have always loved Urian's character and to find out his past is awesome. It was a shock to have the story stop where it did, but I should have expected it since this is only and excerpt! I can't wait for the novel to come out so that I can read the rest of it!

Urian had such a rocky road throughout his life and to find out that he was married so many times before the one that we knew about and to also find out that he is really in love with the sister of some of the newer dragon shifters we've been introduced too. I LOVE IT!!!! I really love all of the historical and mythological stuff. An amazing addition to this really awesome series.

A grandson of a God.? A twin but is he? A short life span then what? And a forbidden love and a life spent in darkness, serving a Goddess? . Are all questions that take the reader of Stygian on a suspenseful ride through the time before Christ. Sherrilyn Kenyon continues her Dark Hunter series with the story of Urian the son of Stryker and a human. He grows up feeling like he doesn't belong, which we all can relate to.. A story of love, sacrifice, revenge and war are woven t0gether to show that the main character is strong, but flawed.


Urian has never known a life where he can be in the sun. He's always been his father's favorite. He's always in trouble and has a special relationship with the Goddess that protects them. He is also the grandson of a God. But the Goddess knows his true identity and vows to never tell. Due to the disease cast by his grandfather on his people his family is also effected and their life span is cut short and a decision is to be made at age 27. Urian all his life has been bullied and abused by his siblings because he's different, so he feels like he doesn't belong. When his father is on the verge of death he stumbles across the one who comes to know and love him best. Unfortunately do to the disease he's afflicted with they can never be together. Urian's mother's life is in danger living in their community so she goes back to the world she came from. Urian visits and finally realizes that his mother needs to live her life without them in it. A group of his clan head to his best friend's village and when they arrive its being attacked by humans. He rescues a woman and her children and they get marriage and it turns into a disaster. Urian and his brothers go to avenge their mother's death. His sister has an abusive first marriage and Urian almost kills his brother in law when he finds out and does when his wife turns to his brother in law. Urian is asked by an Amazon to be her mate or slave. He goes to live with her for a year. When her people are attacked he brings the survivors back home. He finds out that his one true love and best friend had been lying to him, He comes home hoping to apologize and renew their friendship only to find her gone. He knows he'll never see her again. And realizes just how much he loves her.

I'm left with questions like. Will he find out the truth about his family ties. Does he find the love of his life again. Will war be fought. Will he become the Stygian that he is meant to be. I look forward to reading the entire book from one of my favorite authors. Sherrilyn Kenyon is never a disappointment.
