Phew. What A Book! This was truly unputdownable. I started it at 9.30pm and kept at it till 4am. Had to stop because I had work to get to in the morning and I couldn’t wait to finish it. If you are a thriller reader then you will probably figure out some of the plot early on. But it doesn’t matter. Not one bit. This book is not a whodunnit. It’s not about who, it’s about why and how. The emotions in this book are phenomenal. Everything is seemingly perfect in the world of Mindy, Jasper, Lauren and Juliet when you start reading the book. But things are rarely as they seem. There are subtle hints sprinkled all over and that is what makes you want to keep reading. Even if you figure it all out you will still want to read this book. It’s the kind of a book that makes a speed reader want to slow down, to soak the book, to marinate oneself in it! The subject matter of depression and suicide is a complex and difficult one and the author has done a brilliant job of covering it in a meaningful manner. The characters are complex and you can feel strong emotions for them when you read this book. It’s a poignant read. You want to like or dislike the characters but if you read carefully enough you can’t put these characters in a box of good or bad. These complex personalities are made up of so many shades of varying colors that’s you end up not knowing who you want to root for. You will crave a clean satisfying end and Ellison delivers just that. I would highly recommend this book.

This was a good read. Thank you to NetGalley for the book. It had some really interesting twists and turns but some parts dragged a bit. I was surprised by some plot twists, but I was able to predict a lot.

Thank You so much for allowing me to review this book. Ms. Ellison is one of my favorite authors. I tell everyone to read her books they won't be disappointed. I really enjoyed this book, a lot more toward the end when I pretty much figured things out, to see how all the parts came together. Initially there are story lines that don't seem to converge- one story told through a series of letters, and the rest in more narrative form.

Imagine watching your amazingly talented daughter crash and burn on the verge of achieving her highest hopes, to race as an Olympian. On top of the trauma of the crash, more terrifying medical issues arise- and in attempting to address them, all sorts of secrets end up being revealed.

There is only one person who can hold it all together, and ironically, she is the one who falls apart. How she manages to provide such a seamless front and then lose it later is a mystery and feels exhausting.

The ending is quite satisfying and I have to say that I found the afterword the most moving and poignant part of the whole book. It was almost worth reading the story to end up with that section. The author shows true compassion for people in that situation, and its timeliness can't be overstated.

This book is just not my cup of hot chocolate.

Mindy is a 17 year old skiing phenomenon when she breaks her leg during a downhill run. As a result of pre-surgery blood testing, Mindy and her parents discover that she has leukemia and ultimately are told that Mindy's mother is not her biological parent. GASP!!!

I figured out without a doubt who Mindy's mother was on page 85 of 489 so that made it a long and tedious read for me. By the time the "how" of Mindy's parentage is revealed, I just didn't care anymore. I found Mindy to be unbelievable and her mother to be cliché.

Fans of J.T Ellison will no doubt enjoy this book so I don't discourage anybody from reading it. Being my first read by this author I went in blindly to her style and unfortunately found it not to my liking.

I was provided an ARC of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to harlequin and Net galley for allowing me to review this book.
This was a fast paced novel with as many twists and turns as the hills and hollers of the place where the author sets her books .
This is yet again proof the author is at the top of her game .
This book kept me guessing till the end.

What a page turner! I loved this book! I predicted the twist early on. However, that did not ruin the book for me as the last 30% had my jaw on the floor!! I was not expecting that ending at all.

Mindy is an amazing skier! She is in line to be on the Olympic team up until she suffers a terrible crash. During surgery, her doctor discovers she has leukemia and is in desperate need of a stem cell transplant. However, when her parents are tested to see if they are a match, the ugly truth reveals itself. Secrets start to unravel and we start to see everyone's dark side.

This novel had me hooked from the very first page up until the last word! I felt all the characters were developed really well, especially one character who I will not say, because it may give some of the plot away. The story flowed effortlessly and it felt 'real' as opposed to subplots happening out of left field.

All in all, wonderful read!

Thank you to Harlequin - Mira and NetGalley for sending me an early reader's copy in exchange for a honest review!

Interesting and engaging story. I liked the characters. The plot was mostly believable although a few instances required a willingness to suspend belief. A few twists and turns and a relatively satisfying conclusion.

Thank you to Netgalley & MIRA for the ARC! I’m almost at a loss for words to sum up a review. Initially, I was thrilled to receive this from one of my must read authors, without even reading the description. Once I realized it was about a girl with cancer, I was thinking to myself, “Nope, not going to do it. Can’t do it.” Cancer is one of the “can’t handle” topics for me. As an empath, I can insert myself into the mindset all too easily and it takes a toll on me and my anxiety. But this was extremely well written, it sucked me in hard. But still, I can’t find the right words. It wasn’t a rollercoaster-type thriller, but a solid, impactful storyline instead, told from different vantage points that entrapped and ensnared. This was not a light read, though, so by no means do I recommend it if you just want some fluff.

A unique thrill ride from start to finish - psychiatric hospitals, family secrets and professional skiing? How are these various stories connected over time? JT Ellison weaves a flawless integration that kept me wanting to know more the entire time! Down to the very last page, I was on the edge of my seat questioning what would happen next!

A superb follow-up to Ellison's critically acclaimed Lie to Me, A powerful story of familial relationships.

Glad I read it. I seldom give 5 stars, but I think this effort deserves them.

Shocking and full of twists, this book will have you asking questions and rethinking until the final page. Is it a story of a horrible mistake, a betrayal, or a clever ruse? With characters that you will like and hate simultaneously, this story grabs you from the very beginning and will have you up late flipping pages because you just have to know how it all ends. This story hits on a very sensitive subject, suicide. It is written beautifully and realistically, and I believe in a way that will raise awareness about this very real issue. I found myself feeling a veritable array of emotions. I highly recommend you grab copy today.

Tear Me Apart – J.T. Ellison

I was fortunate to receive this novel from Netgalley.com as an Advance Reader Copy, in exchange for an objective review.

Oh my goodness, this book was awesome!!

The story opens in a prologue that describes the first meeting between two unnamed teen women who find themselves sharing a room at a psychiatric hospital, before the opening chapter begins in present day, where Olympic hopeful Mindy Wright is preparing herself for a trip down the mountain in effort to win the championship and secure a berth on the Olympic Ski Team. A snowstorm has started, making visibility dicey, and Mindy hits a flag and crashes, fracturing her leg in the process. Surgery seemingly goes without incident until the doctors tell Lauren, Mindy’s mom, that Mindy has leukemia and needs immediate treatment.

As Mindy’s family lines up to be tested for donor suitability, it becomes apparent that none of them are biologically related to Mindy, a fact that stuns the group, as Lauren has always passed Mindy off as her own. Lauren’s sister Juliet, a DNA specialist for the CBI, takes matters into her own hands and attempts to find Mindy’s biological parents, as Mindy gets sicker and sicker. She is successful, and the truth comes gradually to light as Mindy meets her biological father and learns of her past. But the past and the present collide, and a killer will do anything to keep their secrets hidden…

I loved this book! It grabs you from the moment you read the first paragraph and doesn’t let you go until you reach the very end – and still you wish it would go on! An amazing edge-of-your-seat thriller that you don’t want to miss!!

This book was such a great mystery/thriller from the moment Mindy takes a fall down the ski slope , finding out she has leukemia and then finding out her mom has a wicked past. Once you start this book you will have to find out the shocking conclusion. Loved this book it was unlike anything I have read in awhile which I loved !!! Loved the writing style kept me intrigued from the first chapter. This book doesn't disappoint for the mystery fans. Who really is Mindy and why so many secrets about her past? You really will love this book and have to find out every juicy detail. Highly recommend !!

Mindy is a competitive skier hoping to go to the Olympics. She has a devastating accident on a ski run. While being treated they discover she has cancer.

I don’t want to say much more about this book because it will give away too much of the plot. There are lots of secrets and twists in this story. There are some characters that aren’t very likeable. I guessed part of the story but not all of it. Once it gets started it moves at a fast pace. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
