Tear Me Apart by J.T. Ellison is an intriguing novel and very hard to put down. The plot revolves around a sixteen year old girl and her family. She loves competitive skiing but is seriously injured in the beginning of the book. While in the hospital the doctors learn that she has a rare form of cancer. Her mother is very protective and involved with her daughter and slowly falls apart as the story continues. The book is about her mother's secrets and past history. This makes a very emotional tantalizing story which was hard to put down.

Wow, this story has something for everyone - mystery, secrets, a little romance and a lot of suspense. The author chose some very hard topics to write about; mental illness, child abuse, suicide and murder, etc. The story was perfectly woven together to keep readers interested to the very end. Highly recommended!

Just when you THINK you know how this story is going, Ellison send you on an intricate double S turn and suddenly it's somewhere else! And then it changes again. To call it a roller coaster is an understatement. It's like the mazest of mazey books that you literally can't put down, because every 4 chapters things change and you're holding your breath, waiting for the next plummet! Not only is it a look at a family with so many hidden secrets it's amazing they haven't bubbled like lava before, it's the story of sibling rivalry and the hidden reasons for it. Then add a mystery on top and a couple of murders and you have a book that hits all your genres and leaves you begging for more! Don't miss this one, or you will be sorry you did!

I need a higher rating scale like 100 stars! 🌟 ALL the stars to this nugget of thriller awesomeness! JT Ellison has done it again!
This one was full of twists, turns, murder, more twists, psychology thrillness and more twists on twists!
I’m not going to give anything away except to say READ THIS!!!! I loved the characters because of how they were presented to us. All likeable? Yes I really did.
I loved the Colorado scene/backdrop which sounds so beautiful.
I couldn’t put this one down. I felt like I was in the story, it was written so vividly.

Thank you #NetGalley, the author and publisher for my free ARC in exchange for my honest review. ALL the 🌟s!!!!!

I would like to give this book ALL the stars!!

When I first started reading it I was really confused. We start out in some sort of inpatient mental heath hospital and then switch to a young skier. I thought I was mistakenly reading a contemporary but what was that first part about and how in the world does it all fit together. I even re-read the synopsis SEVERAL times because it just wasn't coming together for me. THEN it did!!

This book is intense and full of all kinds of drama and lies and deception and secrets. It is so hard to figure out who is telling the truth and is that truth is really the truth or just another spin on it. You can tell what some of the plot twist are but there are so many of them that you are bound to not see a few of them coming. One of the plot twist towards the end really caught me off guard. There was still 10% or so left in the book and it should be over so what else was going to happen. A lot was still left to happen.

I can easily see this adapted into a movie.

I highly recommend this book.

Thank you NetGally, J.T. Ellison and Harlequin-Mira for the free ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Mindy Wright is a famous young skier about to make her way to team USA when an awful crash leads her into the hospital with a badly broken leg. While in the hospital healing from the broken leg, they receive the awful news that Mindy also has Leukemia. The doctors inform Mindy and her family that if she can get a stem cell transplant, her chances of survival would be much improved. After all the tests are done, none of the family are matches to Mindy and Mindy’s aunt, finds out that Mindy isn’t a DNA match to either parent and isn’t related to them at all. The group is on the hunt to find out what happened to Mindy and why she isn’t related to her own mother.

I haven’t read too many books but J.T. Ellison and I have to say that this one had me hooked right from the get go, I loved the writing and how immersed into the story I became right away. There were a lot of loveable and relatable characters in the novel and I felt I could connect to both Mindy and her aunt Juliet right away. We’ve all been teenagers and although I can’t imagine being diagnosed with something so seriously at that time in my life, I can understand her point of view of waiting to be treated the same way she always was. I didn’t enjoy Lauren, Mindy’s mother because right away I felt that I couldn’t trust her.

This is a long novel, and I did find the beginning a bit lengthy, but you do need it to get through the rest of the novel and understand certain things. I flew through the rest of the novel because I had to know what the heck was going on and I wanted to know how this was going to end. I may have guessed one of the twists early on, but I still liked the way that we were lead to it and the ending shocked me. I adored this novel and the characters and how the whole novel played out. I went into the book only knowing a little bit about it and honestly, I think I enjoyed it more because of it.

Out August 28th!

5+++ stars from me! I have read quite a bit of really good books this year and this is one of them. This is a book that is going to stay with me. I requested this ARC simply based on the fact that I really like the last two books I have read by this author. No One Knows and Lie to Me were 5 stars in my book. So I had pretty high expectations. What I didn't know is that she managed to exceed them. This is my favorite work so far by her.

Mindy Wright is a 17 year old blazing the slopes as a champion downhill skier. She is in the running for making the Olympic team. All she has to do is ace this competition. Then it happens, she falls and has to be hospitalized for her injury to her leg with surgery pending. There is still hope for her Olympic dream, until the doctors discover by accident that she has leukemia. She has been tired lately but thought it was just her training schedule.

Upon learning that she had leukemia, I instantly thought oh great, I don't want to read a depressing book. I am a nurse and I deal with enough illness and death that I just don't like to read about it when I am trying to decompress from whatever I have dealt with during my work day. Much to my surprise, it wasn't like that with this book. Somehow even with that being part of the story, it just wasn't a depressing story to me. Upon being diagnosed with leukemia this book develops into so many twists. They weren't random though, they all were shocking, but it blended so well with the story, it seemed like real life. It wasn't a bunch of shock value twists. It was just a twisted story of a family that sucks you in. I honestly didn't want the book to end. Just when you thought another detail to this story couldn't be added, there is another one. Quite possibly my favorite line was "Why can't this bitch just stay dead."

Multiple deaths, missing children, mental illness, suicides. Seem like too much? Not a chance. This is a perfectly spun story that I truly enjoyed reading.

On a side note, I highly suggest reading the author's note at the end of the book. It actually brought me to tears, it is very touching and heartfelt. As someone in the medical field I was impressed by her medical terminology and details. Thanks for another great read J.T. Ellison!

Thank you to J.T. Ellison, Harlequin Mira and NetGalley for this ARC

J.T. Ellison paints a pretty picture of the Colorado scenery and ski environment. And with this beautiful backdrop, she spins an engaging tale of secrets, lies, deceit, and murders with random details that at first don't seem related but eventually are all tied together as the story unfolds. Many questions are answered through DNA analysis, and this book was an interesting peek into the science of DNA.

The story was a fascinating look into psychiatric wards and psychopaths. The psychopath ends up being someone that I didn't suspect at all. This person exhibited all of the classic symptoms: uncaring, shallow emotions, irresponsibility, overconfidence, selfishness, and violence - which were revealed over time.

This book is a slow, steady burn with a hidden psychopath and satisfying ending.

Completely consuming, page turning, eyes wide open, wild reading! J.T. Ellison does NOT disappoint after her dynamic novel LIE TO ME. Fans of her previous work are going to devour this one too, and become instant auto-buyers of all her future work!

Thank you to NetGalley and MIRA for the advanced digital copy of this AMAZING read that releases August 28, 2018

TEAR ME APART is a ROLLER COASTER of a read about a world class athlete and olympic hopeful, Mindy Wright, and her family. But nothing is at it seems. Mindy is in an awful crash, is diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia, and finds out that her parents are not a match for the stem cell transplant she needs to survive..because...she...isn't...theirs... DUN DUN DUNNNNN.
In all seriousness, though, hold on to your seats folks - this only SCRATCHES the surface.

I saw many of my personal friends reading and loving LIE TO ME earlier this year, and let me tell you guys.. you will love this one too!

The story grabs you from the first page. I mean, it begins in 1993 in a mental hospital for crying out loud, thats intriguing, then you are thrown into Mindy's life wondering how exactly does this all tie together? Where is this going? Just when you get really into what is happening present time (Mindy's world) you get flashed back into 1993/1994 - and this continues on through out the book, putting together the pieces, untangling the web of lies... the interworking of a family that is obviously not as perfect as any of them thought... Ellison throwing your wondering mind a bone every now and then to allow you to try and figure it out on your own... makes for a delectable yet deceiving experience.

There is a bit of foreshadowing that led me to assume what might be going on - I was on the right track. I didn't have it pinned down entirely. It wasn't annoyingly obvious, and I appreciated it honestly. And, no, I won't mention it BUT once you read it - if you find it too LET ME KNOWWW.

The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars, (official rating is 4.5 - but I DID NOT want to only give 4) is just because of my rating system. I loved it and I highly recommend it, but I am just not OBSESSED with it. But it is great and I hope all of you will enjoy it!

When I first read the synopsis about this book, I was thinking, it will be good, but how could it be a great mystery/thriller that I won’t be able to put down? Well, I quickly found out just by reading the first chapter! I was sucked in from page 1. The book is the story of Mindy an up and coming Olympic skier. She is only 17 and has the whole world on a platter in the palm of her hand. When a crash lands her in the hospital with a broke leg, she is also diagnosed with leukemia. The race is on to find a stem cell donor, their only option for saving her life. None of her immediate family is a match. The story is the search for her biological family, how did she come to be adopted and how well do we really know our closest family? Just when you think you have it figured out, don’t be surprised because you will find that you really don’t!

Tear Me Apart
JT Ellison

JT Ellison is a masterful storyteller as evidenced by her latest unforgettable story. She starts off with a cryptic first chapter that will have readers scratching their heads followed by whiplash inflicting unexpected hairpin turns and blindsiding twists in this chilling, unputdownable thriller about secrets, lies and deception. The Colorado backdrops are breathtaking, the suspense is non-stop and palpable brought to life by the fluent prose-like narrative. The author’s research into DNA uses for both medical cures and crime solving gives the read credibility and makes it more interesting plus putting it in easily understandable terms makes it accessible to all. The subtle hints leading to the long-awaited with baited breath reveal of the multifaceted and many-faced villain is satisfying, terrifying and will cause more than a few jaws to drop. Although all the characters stand out it’s the unsinkable teenaged skiing phenom Mindy and her tenacious aunt Juliet who rock these pages. Be prepared to be surprised astounded and totally blown away by this best-seller bound keeper shelf read.
Brava!

J.T. Ellison has done it again !! I am a recent fan of hers and her books keep getting better.

This book has it all, tragedy, secrets, family, mental health, protecting your children, mystery, thriller

Mindy has a horrible skiing accident while competing, needs surgery and they discover she has cancer and neither of her parents match for stem cell treatment.

Their lives will never be the same as they struggle to find a donor and who are Mindy's parents.

The book grabs you slowly, methodically, and soon you are hooked .

The characters are all strong, some not so nice. Some you are cheering on.

A great read; pick up your copy when its available, and that is soon !!

Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

I really enjoyed this book, although it did take me a little long to connect with the Mindy it all came together for me in the end. J.T. Ellison has a way with words that makes her books compelling which is why she is one of my favorite authors. I anxiously await what comes next.

Things I didn’t do because I could not put Tear Me Apart down tonight until I finished it: put away three loads of laundry, wash my well beyond in need of washing hair, go to Target, pack for a four day weekend, clear off the dining room table, write up a contract, go to bed when I should have - most of which now need to be done in a very short window of time after work tomorrow but it was worth it. It sucked me in that much.

5* Not So Perfect Stars

This story centers around Mindy Wright who is 17 years old and is an up and coming downhill skier destined for the Olympics. Unfortunately after a nasty crash during a race Mindy breaks her leg and is admitted to hospital. Sadly the broken leg is the least of her and her parents Lauren and Jaspers worries. Mindy is diagnosed with a severe form of Leukemia. The only way Mindy will be safe is with a stem cell transplant.

Searching and testing for suitable Donors begins to open up “a can of worms” in the lives of the Wrights. Secrets and lies start to unravel and things are not so perfect anymore.

This was a thrilling read and had me turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next. It was fast paced and the mystery was unfolding chapter by chapter.

I highly recommend this captivating story that was well thought out and fraught with lies, secrets and deception. It also dealt with mental health and suicide. I thought that the Author’s note at the end of the book was very heartfelt and moving. I absolutely loved this book!

Many thanks HARLEQUIN - MIRA and NetGalley for my ARC to read and review.

Anything J.T. Ellison writes is phenomenal! I love the suspense throughout the whole novel. As soon as I started reading it I knew I was going to be hooked. A must read!

Interesting and engaging story. I liked the characters. The plot was mostly believable although a few instances required a willingness to suspend belief.

Mindy Wright is on track to ski in the Olympics. Until an accident when she hits a flag and breaks a leg. Badly. And the bad news doesn't stop there. After surgery her mother, Lauren and her father, Jasper are given the news that their daughter has cancer.

She needs a stem cell transplant to live and even think about skiing again. But what should have been a simple match test turns up Mindy doesn't even belong to Lauren and Jasper! Secrets start spilling all over and it doesn't look like anyone is going to come out of this unscathed,

The story is told alternately in the past, through letters and memories of Lauren and the present.

J.T.Ellison has never disappointed in this genre'. This is as twisty and psycho as all of her writing and I love it! But there are so more themes running through this one. Suicide, Abuse, Depression and straight up crazy! But I really enjoyed the end where she gives so much good research and resources for anyone contemplating self harm or suicide.

This book was sheer perfection until the very end!
