I really enjoyed The Adults. It was an easy read, but the writing was mature and well structured. It was laugh out loud funny at times! I thought the characters were a little overdrawn, but then it wasn't a book that took itself too seriously, so the caricatures fit well. For example Patrick is a string of one awkward cringe moment to the next! And when Alex goes off the deep end it leads to a hilarious drunken exchange that was both delightful and awkward to witness!

There are three POV that the author shifts between - Alex, Patrick and Scarlett. I think it was a good choice to show things from the 'outsiders' point of view, and the reactions that they had to the situation were well considered. Scarlett and her imaginary friend Posey were hilarious, although I did find Scarlett a bit annoying at times. I also wondered why any woman would date Matt? He was quite a useless character, and my least liked.

A very fun read, perfect for the holidays!
