A fun story that also deals with the real life issue of alcoholism and how it affects the family. The characters are deep and well developed. The plot is easy to follow and there is intrigue enough left over for the continued evolution of the series.

Sliding Home was a good read, with a hero/heroine that were easy to like and an interesting plot. That said, I did have some issues getting into the story early on, and found that Ellie’s easy acceptance of rejection was a blemish on her character.
Overall a good read, but not outstanding.

Jake is just so naughty, “if I told you to suck me right here, right now, would you do it?” Jake is an animal at times, "...I heard a pop. I jolted. “did you just rip my thong?” He didn’t answer except to arch a brow..." I liked this book, I loved Jake.

I’m torn between 3.5 or 4 stars. This book started out pretty well for me. Ellie only asks Jake out because she was so sure that he was going to say no - only he doesn’t. I liked the idea of the plot and I could understand what Ellie was trying to accomplish, but it didn’t really seem realistic to me and it was hard for me to buy into their story since it all happened so fast. I also liked the back and forth between Ellie and Jake and would have liked to see more of them out in the world instead of just by themselves. Ellie’s sister was funny and great!

Ellie asks out Jake fully expecting him to say no. He can't turn her down, though, and they are thrust into the spotlight during their date after a fire at the hotel he's staying at.

Ellie and Jake are fairly regular 20-somethings. I did find Ellie to be immature, though, which was somewhat frustrating. Jake is a lot more than the book blurb described. His story was surprising and a lot more interesting to me than Ellie's.

There are some interesting plot points that made this different than other romance books I've read. The story moves quickly I am curious to see if Ellie's cousin Connor will also get a book.

This is the first book I have read by this author. I really enjoyed this book. Ellie and Jake are complete opposites. Ellie is a nurse and Jake is a professional baseball player. And he is a player in every sense of the word.

Ellie’s cousin is not th same team as Jane. They are at barbecue hosted by Elli’s parents. Ellis has had a crush on Jane forever and she is trying a type of therapy where she purposely gets rejected. So her sister and her cook up a plan where Ellis asks Jake out on a wholesome date. Ellie’s know he will say know because that’s not Jake. Well he shocks her and says yes.

The fun starts once Jake picks up Ellie. Halfway through the date things get of the “wholesome” track. Hey end up going to Jakes hotel and then the room next to Jakes catches on fire. He automatically helps save the boy and Ellie. All the media outlets shame Ellie and Jake automatically says they’ve been dating for months and are almost engaged:

This book is funny, with sweet and sexy moments. This book is dual POV.

What starts out as a dare to get out of her comfort zone, Ellie asks the hot shortstop Jake out for an old fashioned date - with no sex. Thinking he is going to turn her down, Jake realizes this is the best opportunity to show his team that he is not the man whore he has shown the world. But when a fire breaks out and Ellie is left in a compromising position, Jake tells the world that they have been secretly dating for months. Will Ellie go along with his lies and continue with the fake relationship? Or will the affair become more real when they both connect with the secrets he has been hiding from everyone? This book had it all: fabulous characters, an emotional storyline and enough passion and angst to lock the reader in from the opening pages. This was a wonderful read. This will not be the last book I read from Kathy Lyons.

I found this book to be a 3 star book. The plot sounded great but I could not buy into the relationshipo between Ellie and Jake. I found myself being annoyed with Ellie and her lack of self. Overall, it was an okay read...it will not be on my "to be read again" list...

I was given an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Ellie is doing an experiment in rejection to learn that she can survive when things don’t go her way, and In continuation of the experiment she asks Jake out for an old fashioned date. She is sure he will say no but he doesn’t.
The date starts off old fashioned way but doesn’t end that way. And when their hotel catches fire, and they are caught in a state of undress, they have to do damage control fast, and Jake comes up with a fake relation plan.
Sliding home is an easy and fast paced read. It has laugh out loud moments, scenes Hot enough to steam up your kindle, with well defined characters who have their vulnerabilities that make them seem that much more real.

Wow, Sliding Home, is very erotic. I have told all my friends to read it and you will too. Jake and Ellie are perfect together.

This was a really great story between two very opposite people. Jake is a baseball player who is sorta a one night stand guy. Ellie is the smart and shy nurse of the cousin on Jak'es team. They are both at a family bbq when Ellie's sister dares her to ask Jake on a date where he wont have sex or even kiss her. She dares her because they both expect Jake to say No and Ellie is practiceing getting rejected and being okay with it.

But he says YES and he goes all out and when Ellie ends up at his hotel room and almost naked a fire happens and Jake rescues her, the whole world discovers he tried to seduce her. Thats when he decides to pretend girlfriend her. And that is when the fun really starts.

This was avery fun and sweet romance. I loved how strong Ellie ends up getting and how Jake helps her grow in this story. I really loved the sister and cousin and hope there are stories for them

Ellie has decided to stop being a pushover. She has decided she needs to try new things and not be afraid of failure. Jake is a hot baseball player who is known for his antics with women. Ellie decides to ask Jake out, in front of family and friends at a BBQ. She assumes he will turn her down, but he doesn’t do operate. He accepts.

This book is a light, sexy read for the beach. It had decent characters. The plot is the usual bad boy meets good girl with a heart of gold and reforms him. It kept me entertained for the whole book. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

This was a light and easy read. I enjoyed the main characters but there's a lot of sex in this book. Don't get me wrong, I like steamy romances as much as the next girl but it felt like most of their story took place between the sheets. I would have enjoyed the book more if there had been more time spent on their relationship outside the bedroom.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

This is a sexy and fun romance between two unlikely characters. Jake is the hotshot baseball player with a naughty reputation, while Ellie is the good girl nurse who's had a crush on Jake for a long time. When Ellie's sister pushes Ellie to ask Jake out for an old fashioned date, she fully expects to be rejected.....but he says yes. They then both get more than they bargained for when they are caught indisposed on national television. What follows is a public relations nightmare that has them pretending to be a couple to combat all the negative coverage.

Both characters have a depth to them that made them feel real and made me care about them and feel invested in their story. I loved Ellie, but really loved Jake and the glimpse behind the patina of fame of a high profile professional athlete.

If you enjoy sexy contemporary romance, you will love this book. I've added the author to my must read authors' list.

There is one thing I have come to know in stories written by Ms Lyons, she creates memorable characters with substance and dynamic personalities, but more so there is her trademark humor that is laced throughout the story. Often times it’s straight up laugh out loud, but other times it plays out as subtle and meaningful, laying just below the surface to bring levity and engage the reader, crafting a smooth flow of the story through to the end.

In Jake and Ellie are two characters who together discover that they had the strength and courage to, in Jakes case meet his demons head on, and for Ellie it was to believe in herself. The journey they took was at times heartbreaking, because leaving yourself openly vulnerable can be frightening. But as they wove their way through seemingly insurmountable obstacles, their journey was truly heartwarming.
