This was a terrific read. Just as good as Cara Hunters other books. It’s full of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. Fast paced narrative that just sweeps you along and keeps you readin. Can’t wait for more Cara Hunter. |

I had really enjoyed the previous books in this series, so was looking forward to reading this one. It certainly didn't disappoint. DI Adam Fawley and his team are investigating a suspicious fire in which 2 children and their mother died. The father, an Oxford academic, is missing and is the prime suspect. There are lots of twists and turns and the plot keeps you guessing until the end. Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy. Copied to Goodreads. |
Yet another fantastic book in the Adam Fawley series and would 100 % recommend! Cara Hunter's use of medias within the books is just genius and really adds that something extra to the story. |
I read In The Dark and was totally drawn in from start to finish and I hoped for the same from No Way Out. I got it! Disturbing, edge of your seat, chew your nails to the quick. tension. This is a great thriller. It's hard to put into words all of the feelings that I went through while reading this book because I think that I felt all of the most stressful ones. Outstanding and easily 5 stars, this fast paced., shocking and surprising thriller, kept me guessing throughout. This is a fresh and modern feeling thriller that makes sure that I keep reading Cara Hunter. Her writing is so realistic and keeps you thinking. |

I received a digital arc of #NoWayOut from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I had not previously read anything by Cara Hunter so wasn't sure what to expect. There were no chapter breaks as such in this book, and the story did seem to switch between various timeliness rather abruptly as a result. However, the plot was great. Lots me twists and turns and I was left guessing right up to the end. Such a tragic story which I can't say much about without spoiling it all. I was left shocked by some revelations though! An emotionally compelling read. The only thing that let it down were all the formatting errors, which hopefully would have been corrected before this went to publication. They were rather annoying and distracted from the plot slightly. I would definitely read more by this author again though. |

I can't believe this is only the third Adam Fawley novel. It feels like they've been around a lot longer as the characters seem so familiar already. Once again the story is told via a mixture of first and third-person narrative and flashes of media covering the story, plus snippets of official documents. It's still as fresh as the first novel and sets this series apart in an overcrowded genre. The story opens brutally. A first has ripped through a house, leaving a toddler dead and his older brother fighting for his life. There's no sign of their parents. As Fawley unravels the months leading up to the tragedy it becomes apparent that this was not an accident, it was murder. I really have no criticism for this novel. I enjoyed every word and look forward to number 4. It's excellent in every way a police procedural should be. |
This book started very slow. I found it boring and tedious. I did however like the writing style with the newspaper articles, emails and social media updates. The ending was ok, nothing special but I didnt hate it. This book was very average. It was no where near as good as previous two in the series. I am really hoping the next one is better. |
Number 3 in the DI Fawley series and another cracking good read. The book opens with a devastating house fire. The action in the book moves between the day of the fire, the events of the previous year and the investigation into the fire. Interspersed with email and newspaper reports the plot unravels excellently with some great twists in the end. The subplot and characters develop brilliantly too |

Unbelievably this is the first Cara Hunter book I've read, but it will not be the last. I loved the way the book was written and the characters were easy to get to know, the twists in the book were unexpected but I loved it. Going to read this series in order, only because I want to not because I feel the book was missing anything because I hadn't read the previous 2, I did enjoy this so want to get to know the main characters better! Thank you netgalley. |
No Way Out is about a fire at a family home which seems like a cut and dry case but ends being up anything but. Admittedly, this is not the sort of case that interests me but Hunter made this story enjoyable. Maybe it was her writing. Maybe it was how much I enjoyed the characters. I don't know. All I do know is that I'll be catching up on this series. I enjoyed this a lot despite it being the third installment in a series that I've never read. Cara's writing is excellent and No Way Out (and I'm assuming this is a theme throughout her books) contains little extras like phone conversation transcripts, interviews and the news articles. I live for that stuff. I really enjoy authors who mix up the layout of their books. Hunter's writing hooked me right from the start, it's so easy to follow and detailed yet not waffly. Ideal. As soon as I started reading this it felt like I'd fell back into a familiar series. A rare instance where an author/book lives up to the hype. |
I read the first book in this series and really enjoyed it but found this one #3 slightly confusing as I haven’t yet read #2 and the storyline does continue through the series. I also find the abbreviations unnecessary as I couldn’t always decipher their meaning straight away. Eg/ PM = postmortem ** I received this book from netgalley in exchange for n honest review.** |
WOW! Another fantastic book by Cara Hunter. This is the second DI Fawley book I have read and they just get better every time. This was such a page turner and the more the story unfolded the more gripped I was. The plot was fantastic with very realistic characters. This book is not to be missed and one i will be recommending to everyone. |

Well written, one of those books in the category of 'I'll just read another chapter' and then it's 2.00 am!!! You will be guessing to the end. Realistic setting and characters; sadly believable crime, lots of plot twists and turns. Highly recommended. This is the first Cara Hunter I've read, but it won't be the last. |
Heart breaking and heart stopping! Cara Hunter has done it again! Kept me hanging right until the end for the final twist! Well paced, character driven and thrilling. What more could you want? |

This is a crime novel set in Oxford and begins dramatically with police and fire officers attending a suspected arson attack on a family home that quickly becomes a murder investigation. The book is descriptive of procedures and of team members’ camaraderie as well as of those who are not team players. The reader is lead to believe that the perpetrator is the obvious suspect but as the storyline pans from future to the past other possibilities open up. When I read No Way Out, I did not realise that it was the 3rd book in a series featuring the same police team, however this did not spoil my reading enjoyment and I will definitely be reading the first 2 in the future. |
This is the third book in the 'DI Adam Fawley' series and my first. I think there would have been some benefit in reading at least one of the other books first, however, this was still a most enjoyable thriller. "No Way Out" was a compulsive read with plenty of twists and turns, most of which were a complete surprise. The format of shifting timelines and points of view was so well done it kept me reading, hooked as I was, on all of them. The narrative of DI Adam Fawley was written in the first person and everything else was in the third, giving a wider perspective on the investigation. I found Cara Hunter's writing style very natural, realistic and absorbing. The plot itself was so cleverly done. When I thought I had a good idea of what happened, I started to doubt my latest scenario and I couldn't help but try to rethink another with the new information, making for fascinating reading. Cara Hunter's characterisation was also fabulous and certainly not neglected. I loved this team of characters and cannot wait to read more in the series. I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel, at my own request, from Penguin Books (UK) via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion. |
Wow, the 3rd in the series and No Way Out is yet another fantastic read. From page one I was hooked and couldn’t put it down! You think it’s a straight forward house fire where unfortunately young children are involved, then you learn it was started deliberately and there in the book begins. I can’t wait for the next one in the series as each book seemed to get better and better and this one didn’t disappoint; in fact I think it’s the best one yet...a must read!!! |

The 3rd book in the gripping DI Fawley series based in Oxford. During the festive holiday, we follow him and his team investigate a horrific house fire that tragically kills a toddler and leaves his 10 year old brother fighting for his life. I particularly like the way Cara Hunter uses social media commentary, news articles and fire reports to tell the story from different perspectives to provide one twist after another in this dark and grisly tale. |
This. Book. God damn. I love me a thriller where you can't guess what will happen, and that is precisely what this is. I tried to predict the outcome five times, and each time I was so far off. In the end I just let go and enjoyed the trip. This is the third book of a series, and I haven't read the first two. That's not at all a reason to panic, as there are very few references to the earlier books. |
