I was intrigued by the plot description of this book – how was the author going to make two ghosts be sexy? – and I also found the cover appealing. But overall this was a bit of a miss for me. I admit that the author did actually manage to make ghosts sexy, which is impressive, but with such flimsy character and story development I just wasn't interested in anything that was happening – and the ghosty sex wasn't quite enough to keep me reading.

This book was a delight. I read it forever ago, and forgot to review it. To be honest, I reread it, and certain parts just continued to surprise me and make me smile (and make me cry). I would recommend this book to anyone.

Huge thank you to NineStar Press and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to review this book!

I was actually really interested in reading this books, it sounded like a nice little paranormal romance... but what it actually is, is less romance and more erotica; which is not really my cup of tea. I've said it many times before but for these kinds of stories to hold my interest they need to have more than just lust and sex.

That's not to say other's wouldn't like this story, I can think of at least five of my friends who would definitely like it, it's just that for me personally, unfortunately it wasn't a hit.

2.5 Stars

This book will be great for a lot of readers, I know. I can think of several people off the top of my head that I think would love it. If you are looking for a supernatural erotica ménage romance, definitely check this out. Unfortunately, for me it was not what I was in the mood for, and not quite what I was anticipating. I am prefacing the rest of my review by saying, this one really isn’t this particular reader’s tastes. The truth is, I didn’t know this was erotica. Everything I saw had it pegged as a m/m/m paranormal romance, and that is what I was expecting. While it seems like a minor difference, it’s not, at least not for me, and it led to frustration. I have enjoyed several erotica books when the mood strikes, but it’s not usually a go-to for me, and I have to be in a specific head space to get into it, changing what my focus will be and on what I am hoping to get out of the book while reading, and I try to not read reviews when choosing my stories, so I dropped the ball here and chose this based solely on the blurb and the genre. Had I read reviews, I would have known my expectation was dead wrong and adjusted it accordingly before jumping in.

So, why am I saying there is such a difference here from what I expected versus what I read? When I see paranormal romance, I assume it will be a character driven paranormal plot. I expect sexy times, though I don’t generally expect most of the story to revolve around the sex, and the sex itself as the focal point. I would venture to say more than half (probably closer to two-thirds) of the two-hundred plus pages was dedicated to the three protagonists getting it on. If that’s your thing, you will be a happy camper because these guys definitely heat up the page. I tend to select stories with more emphasis on plot and character development, eventually creating my own connection to the story via those areas. I would forgo sexy times on page before I would give up a complex storyline with compelling MCs.

From the moment René found out he had ghosts to being in a relationship with them was surprisingly fast, which is not a bad thing. Some of my favorite books have MCs who waste no time jumping into the sack first, and the romance builds afterwards. It’s just that those moments that shape the foundation for a romance, where they were just getting to know one another on an emotional level, were rare here, and seemed rushed. I felt I was being told about rather than experiencing those moments firsthand, which is one of my favorite things in a story. What this meant for me is that the story lacked the groundwork I needed to become invested in their relationship. I found myself wanting to know more about them individually, as well as about the story on the whole. I knew how they were when they were scorching up the sheets, and while it admittedly was smokin’hot, it wasn’t enough. To be fair, there are glimpses into their growing romance and feelings, and a few areas in the world building that were fleshed out, but a lot of the things I love to read about were skimmed over in favor of the bedroom activities.

By the end of the story I don’t feel I really got to know most of the characters beyond a rippling of the surface. I never got a feeling for Marcus and Bastion, or their past, with the exception of the flashbacks René experienced, which remained vague as there was little talk about what René witnessed during those times. I would have loved to delve deeper into some of the issues portrayed, to get an understanding of them independently and then as a couple. It would have helped me a long way in appreciating the story more. Told from René’s perspective, he was a little more defined through his internal dialogue. Still there was that something missing from making him a fully fleshed out character—little factors that could have easily been explored but instead were not expanded on or explained at all, like what he did for a living. The minor details that were overlooked in his case would have added complexity to his character, making him stronger and appealing more to my reading tastes.

So basically, if you are looking for a ménage erotica novel with tons and tons of steamy scenes heating up your page, and with a paranormal twist, grab this sucker up. If you are in the mood for a more complex paranormal plot and world building, with emphasis on character development to go with the romance, like I was when I picked up Cold Like Snow, I’d suggest taking a pass.

'Cold Like Snow' is an unusual story in the erotic paranormal LGBTQ+ vein (as novels from Nine Star Press are wont to be!).
Sita Bethel writes well. Her description, plot development, characters and sex scenes are all engaging and convincing (especially difficult when you're story is about a polyamorous relationship between a living man and two ghosts!). I enjoyed all of the characters, including best friend May, who's presence in the book really adds extra warmth and enjoyment, for me anyway.
I have absolutely no problem at all with reading detailed sex scenes so long as they're well done, though here I was inclined towards feeling that they were perch just a wee bit overdone (in terms of frequency). The three men did work wonderfully well together though - and I was very happy with the way the emotional side of both their sexual relationship and domestic life was developed and described.
Perhaps not the deepest, most serious or most finely crafted piece of literature, but for an erotic light read with a paranormal twist, I liked 'Cold Like Snow' very much. In fact I did feel a little lump in my throat a couple of times during more emotional scenes - and that's really the mark of a good read for me, great literature will tear me apart.
For a novel of it's type and fans of this genre, I would definitely recommend.

Thankyou to NetGalley, NineStar Press and the author, Sita Bethel, for the opportunity to read a digital copy of Cold Like Snow in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion.
I was intrigued by the premise of the storyline. Unfortunately, the actual book fell a bit flat. Just not a book for me.

Honestly, I just wasn't entirely grabbed by the story. I felt like a strong plot line was lacking, and the relationship between Rene and the ghosts was just way too fast. I know this may sound funny to say about a story with ghosts, but the relationship development just wasn't realistic to me.

This book basically just alternates between hot kinky ghost sex and weirdly cute domestic scenes and I am 500% okay with that. The sex scenes are really well written, and I like that the author took some time to actually think about the mechanics of ghost sex and more or less make it work [I mean some suspension of disbelief is inevitable but you're probably not really reading this for the plot mechanics anyway]. I liked all the characters and the domestic around-the-house scenes were really cute as well. There isn't a ton in this book in terms of like an actual narrative, but personally I think that's fine because it was still a really enjoyable read. It ends pretty much how you would expect but again, not everything has to be some big convoluted mystery; sometimes it's just nice to read a cute/sexy story about a guy boning his ghost roommates ;)

I liked the book a lot. It had some really good moments but it also had some parts where I struggle with it. Overall it was really good. I was very interested on seeing how a romance with ghosts would work and, on that matter, it was unexpected and really good.

I start reading with a lot of doubts because I couldn’t understand how could the author make work such an interesting love story and I was very pleased with the result. I loved seeing the way all three characters interact. I truly felt they got to a point when they love each other. I’m not really a reader who likes much MMM, but this time I really loved how everything worked.

I found more attractive Bastion and Marcus personalities. I had nothing against René, he was charming and I guess everyone will love him, but I found more entertaining the other two main characters.

Even though I did liked the book a lot, there were a few things that didn’t worked that well for me. One of them was the plot. I felt like it didn’t have direction. I had no idea what would happen and, it might be a good thing when reading mystery, but in this particular book, it was underwhelming. I think it also have a little to do with the fact that there was too much sex and I would prefer a little less in order to dedicate a bit more time in the plot development. I also had a problem with the ending, I guess I was expecting something different but the even with the issues I had, I had a really good time reading it and I think readers who like paranormal stories would be able to enjoy it as well.

*I received a copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*

So, I picked this book up because I really liked the premise: a dude falling in love with ghosts. It ended up having WAY more sex than I thought it would, but there were also a lot of really cute moments. Those cute moments were what carried the book for me, since I tend to skip over sex scenes. (I know I know, I read so much romance and yet I skip most the sex scenes??? ) The scenes I didn't just skim over, didn't seem awkward though which is what I thought might happen.
There is no external conflict here-- the biggest conflict being interacting with ghosts normally and having a relationship with the dead, so there wasn't any over the top unnecessary drama. And even the mini fights that occur felt so natural.

I really liked May and would totally love if there was a book for her too lol and if the ghosts judged her flings or boyfriends.

The ending didn't really surprise me. I knew it had to go one way or the other. It worked out though, I think from start to finish this book went really well.

This book really has no story line. It was basically all sex. The writing was good but there was no substantial story. If you're looking for a sexy book to read though- this is the perfect book for you.

I was immediately drawn to this because of the fact that there was a relationship between ghosts and a living man. I was excited for it. But I was a bit let down. I like there to be build up and development. Like, I wanted there to be more back and forth between them but that is not what I got. If you want an erotic story featuring a ménage with ghosts, this is totally for you. It was written and flowed well. I could imagine the house and see why it would have been haunted.

Cold Like Snow wasn't a bad book, but in the end I think it really wasn't for me. The premise definitely intrigued me but in reading it I found it fell a bit flat. I tend to prefer a fair bit of story in my romance, some sort of conflict. And despite two of the three protagonists being dead I found surprisingly little of that in this book. In the end to me it read more like a very extensive erotic fantasy about ghosts than a romance. And for me that wasn't quite enough.

The negative: For me the relationship portion moved too fast. There was very little time between Rene realizing he had ghosts to him being a part of their relationship. There wasn't a lot of buildup or tension. The relationship portion also went almost too smoothly, and I never thought I'd say this of something with well written sex, but there really was almost too much of it. I felt the bulk of the text was spent on it and it left time and space for very little else. I also didn't feel I ever really got to know Marcus and Bastion, at least not very thoroughly. For my personal taste I'd have liked a bit more interesting story of their history, but that is purely my own preferences.

That is not to say it was entirely without merit, however.
The positive: The writing was good. I didn't struggle at all to read it and it took very little time for me to have finished reading it. I genuinely liked the characters and found a lot of positivity and warmth in their relationships with each other. The sex was steamy (as things will be when you mix hot and cold) even if I found there was almost too much of it.

Overall this was an interesting premise and I wish that I'd found the book itself more enjoyable. However if you just want to read some sexy ghosts this might be exactly the thing for you.

Ok, so, I had a bit of a hard time finishing this book. Please imagine me sitting here and giggling about the beautiful crazyness of it all while I'll try to get some useful words together.

Let's start at the beginning. Up until now I didn't know Ninestarpress specializes in erotic romance which really is my fault. I never thought about it, even when there was a lot of steamy sex scenes in previous books I read. I mainly chose their books because they often offer fantasy and scifi with LGBT characters, which I really like about them. If I had looked their bio up earlier though I might have been prepared for the overwhelming amount of dirty times in "Cold like snow" which I, maybe, will always remember as "50 Shades of Gay" because I'm pretty sure 50 is a number that will fit if anyone gets around to count all the coupling times in this book. It was hilarious, really. Marcus, Bastion and René are all cute people and they complement each other in a perfect way. I enjoyed their growing relationship, the way they played with each others desires and how they managed their strange daily life. Two ghosts and one human, all in love with each other. I liked that part and getting them and their past to know a bit more. But … it was just too much erotic and it very much read like a script for a porn movie. Bastion drops a glass - let's have sex, René butts his head - let's have sex! Sometimes it was just hilarious why they chose to have sex again, which happened every one or two pages in all the flowery descriptions available – I am pretty sure I learned everything about the possible (and impossible) ways for two (or three) men to mate. So I guess if you are looking for a really steamy and intense read, this is the right book for you. But be sure to have a cold shower at hand – or a lover. I don't even know how to survive this book otherwise.

It was an interesting read. I would have preferred a bit less erotic and more of a story, but in the end I had fun with the ghost theme and these sweet characters and their personalities – even when I had to skip past numerous pages of yet another sexy time. Next time I'll chose a book by this publisher I will be prepared!

Thanks to Ninestarpress for letting me read this ARC. I'll post a full review to my blog, amazon and all the others as soon as I get out of the shower …

I really wanted to love this book. I thought the premise was fun and I love paranormal. Unfortunately there is just too much sex and too little character development. It makes it difficult to invest in the characters and their connection. It also becomes confusing on the level of ghostiness and exactly what our main character can see and do with his resident ghosts. Their backstory is told in flashbacks but I wanted more of that and less of the sex (never thought that would be in one of my reviews). There is only one secondary character who does provide some comic relief but we limp from repetitive sex scene to sex scene with little substance in between.

René is thrilled to discover his new home is inhabited by ghosts, he has always been into horror stories and makes it his priority to try to communicate with them. He finds himself embarrassed by his reaction to their caresses until he realises that they are deliberately trying to tempt him. I really loved this book and the quirkiness of the story and characters would love a story about René’s best friend, May. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

This was a 3.5 for me. I absolutely loved the characters, each and every one of them. The only thing that started to bother me was (and I really can't believe I'm saying this) there was too much sex. Even the epilogue, which is where I wanted closure but didn't get any. Many thanks for the opportunity to read this book. :)

What a hot ghost story. Rene moves into a house that has a couple that are ghosts. Marcus and Bastion have been haunting this house for awhile when along comes Rene. They decide they like him.
Things progress from friends to lovers. Ghostly love.
There is many sex scenes and lots of love in this book. Very fun and very hot.
There is also Rene's best friend Mary. She is funny and supportive.
I really liked this book. Fun and hot.
Will definitely keep you entertained.

Not your typical love story...nope this one has erotic ghosts?

So here we meet Rene, he moves into a new house and suddenly has two invisible roommates that love to play hanky panky with him.

I enjoyed the story, the relationship between Bastion, Marcus and Rene was hot. they were funny together especially Bastion. The characters would grow on you, in a weird way you'll start rooting for Rene to be happy ( i know it doesn't totally make sense but trust me on this one you will). May's the kind of best friend everyone needs, she's fun and caring and she has a mouth on her.

Yes this book defies logic but it does so in an interesting manner, i found myself asking if there are kinky ghosts around me ( meh not possible i mean i would have moved out immediately) and don't act like you haven't thought about it too ( good luck sleeping at night).

The only thing i did not enjoy was it felt a bit repetitive, like different ways to have sex with a ghost. I got tired of reading it at some point, if i wasn't interested to see if my prediction at the end came through i wouldn't have finished it.
The end for me was comical because i saw it coming and i knew what Rene's reaction was going to be. It might be ridiculous at first but if you look at it closely it was the best option ( and of course i'm not telling you what happened you'll just have to read it).
Its a fun story, if you love paranormal stories try this one it's different from what you've read

This book is..... wild. I honestly downloaded it experimentally because it honest to god sounded like a joke. This feels like it was based off a very nsfw tumblr post that went viral, and I wasn’t wrong. It was just strange, almost to the same calliber as those “taken by the pterodactyl” books where you just think WHO UNIRONICALLY READS THIS???? (not to kink shame) This book would be good for anyone who just wants to read porn without any sensible plot. I guessed how this would end within the first 50 pages and I was right.
