The Home was an interesting read with plenty of drama, twists and turns and how the past can come back to haunt you. The story had great flow and there was never any let down in the pacing. I was thoroughly entertained with a twist I honestly didn’t see coming. Another triumph for Karen Osman. Special thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for my ARC.

I had trouble getting into this one. I was unable to finish at this time. Will get back to it and post a full review at that time

Enjoyable read with a twist that seemed to come out of the blue but which was still enjoyable. Some other twists I did guess but this did not detract from the enjoyment of the book. I plan to go back and re read the book as I think some other bits will make sense knowing the ending which were confusing the first time round (you'll know when you read them!)

Thank you for the early copy.

I picked this up because of the plot and it was enjoyable read. A interesting and well done novel. I recommend this for fans of mysteries or thrillers.

The Home is a psychological thriller set in London in the late 80's. The story is told by Angela, her adoptive mother Rosemary, her birth mom Evelyn, and diaries from the past. Angela is a workaholic who is determined to make it in the male dominated field of law. Her adoptive parents have always been supportive and straightforward with her regarding her adoption. A family illness has caused them to focus on finding her birth mother Evelyn, something Angela has always stated she wanted to do some day. With this push and time constraint, Angela reaches out to a support group that helps her find her birth mom and make contact. This book drums along, telling the early years story from the diary of the child at the orphanage and the present utilizing the voice of the 3 main females.
In the beginning I didn't know the characters very well and had to pay attention when it flipped flopped between perspectives, but after a few chapters I was invested and could follow along very easily. I am a big fan of books where the story telling is chapter by chapter from different characters perspectives. I feel it really adds to the suspense. I will say this book has some triggers and while I myself found my stomach in knots with anticipation of how far it would go into the depths of these triggers, specifically child abuse/pedophilia, it never went into any detail. I was thankful for that, it was well written and just enough that you knew what was happening without having to describe it.
The ending, I did not see it coming. One of the things I love about these types of books is being able to figure them out like a puzzle putting all the characters stories together to find out what happened and how. Until I was in the final chapters it hadn't even occurred to me. The author did a great job with each characters story for that to happen. I also found it interesting that only the women's perspectives were told. I am very curious if that was purposeful or just happened organically in the writing process. There are male characters in the story, and you get their story but it's mainly through their female counterpart. All in all this was a good read and I enjoyed it.

Woah, this book had me gripped from beginning to end. I liked the way different chapters gave a different characters thoughts and their story so you really felt you got to know them.
There is a very clever twist that I didn't see coming at all.
If you want a fast past book with gritty characters and a chilling twist at the end then this is the book for you.
I'd like a sequel as I feel there could more to come for the main character Angela.

I thought this book started off very well and I was very into reading it for 3/4 of the book. Then they was a sudden bizarre twist and unsatisfactory ending that wasn't very well explained.

Set in the 80s with diary entries to the late 60s, this followed Angela and the reconnection with her birth mother. Angela was adopted by James and Rosemary and while James has encouraged Angela to trace her birth mother, Rosemary has doubts. There were a good amount of twists. Some of them were great and came out of nowhere completely taking me by surprise. They changed my perception of the characters. It was dark and unsettling. Definitely worth reading. I want to read more from this author.

Thank you for the advanced copy of 'The Home'.

I'm afraid that I found the book contained too many cliches and the characters were very stereotyped. The twist was not believable (although I do not want to give it away) and I was left feeling dissatisfied.

I really enjoyed this until the reveal of one twist which is such an overused cliche’! The story was dark and captivating. The characters were interesting and the slow burn of a build up was just right.

It was a well crafted story. Like I said I enjoyed it. It was pretty disturbing and may bother some so beware. The story ends with one wicked twist which salvaged my rating overall. I would read other works by this author.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and Aria publishing for a copy in exchange for a honest review.

Fantastic novel. Kept me engrossed from start to finish. I’ve never encountered Karen’s work before but will definitely look out for it again. A real page turner

My first thought upon finishing this book was WOW! This definitely had it's share of twists & turns. I thought I had it figured out, then it dawned on me. Definitely worth reading. I would give this a solid 3.75-4 stars.

Although I guessed early on where this was going, I read it in one sitting and enjoyed it. It was dark and unsettling with some interesting twists. I think a little more could’ve been made if the 80s setting and the diary entries were more for information than to explore the character’s emotions, leaving me feeling like the characters were a bit two-dimensional, but the premise and plot execution was well done and I enjoyed reading it. I was in a bit of a book slump and having so many to choose from nothing was jumping out at me but I thought I would give it a go and I’m so glad I did! It’s gritty without being overly violent and the diary entries grow as Angela grows and make it very intriguing but the last few chapters are perfect!
