Luther likes to make sure his girl is taken care of, “I crawl back in that bed, and you won’t get any rest.” His voice softened. “Close your eyes, baby.” Luther likes to look after the environment, “I’m going to shower with you. It’s quicker and will conserve water.” I liked this book, I loved Luther and Victoria was a feisty little thing.

****CONTAINS SPOILERS****

She had dedicated her entire life to this, to finding her childhood friend, the one person who had made her feel special, who had made her feel like she was worth something. Was she about to find him? Was everything about to change?
Victoria Marshall, a women with a rare ability, she has visions of both the past and sometimes the present through her dreams.
Luther Henderson is the tough and handsome head of security for a very dangerous man, Herman Temple; a man Victoria hopes can lead her to Sergei, her childhood Drakon friend, and Katherine, his wife. She knows that they are being held captive, as well as tortured, she has unfortunately seen this through her visions. She just doesn’t know where they are or why this is happening.
She only took the job as Temple’s assistant because of a vision she had seen that evening, after her job interview. She realized then that he could be the one, the one to lead her to Sergei. He knows something, he has deep secrets, deep ties to covert organisations, she knows he is involved somehow in this nightmare. She is swimming with sharks and there is blood in the water. This is a dangerous game she is playing, one that could cost her her life.
Victoria is drawn to Luther, and he to her. It’s magnetic; they can’t stay away from each other, even though they both know the dangers of fraternizing within their employment under Temple. Employees have vanished for less.

I had the kind pleasure of receiving an advance copy of ‘Drakon Unchained: Blood of the Drakon’, to which I volunteered to read and review. I was not disappointed.
I was drawn into the book straight away; I felt an immediate connection with the characters, especially Victoria and Luther. I was immersed in their growing relationship from the get-go, I could not get enough, I found this book hard to put down if I’m honest.
I really admired the strong and independent woman in Victoria, she knows her own mind, she has dedicated her life to her mission, nothing and no-one will stand in her way. She is afraid yet fearless, she is independent yet isn’t too proud to take comfort with Luther. She is such a warm character, strong, intelligent, beautiful and fragile. A character I grew to care for and admire.
I’m ashamed to say this was the first N.J. Walters book I have come to read; it definitely won’t be the last. I felt a strong sense of immediate attachment, the realism in the writing connected me deeply with the story and the characters involved, good and bad. I was so deeply invested in fact that I was quite emotional in parts and also by the end of the book, I could feel the tears beginning to well up. I felt a great deal of empathy with the characters, again Victoria and Luther specifically.
“She’d never belonged anywhere before, or to anyone, and his touch silenced the old voices in her head that whispered she wasn’t good enough, that no one wanted her because she was flawed”
I swear the above extract could have been written about me and my lovely soon-to-be husband.
N.J. Walters’ writing is beautiful; the story flows easily chapter to chapter, taking you along on Victoria’s dangerous journey into the realms of the dangerous ‘Knights of the dragon’, on her quest to free Sergei and Katherine, and her growing relationship with Luther. I felt like I was there, I felt like I was along for the ride, and what a ride it was.
This is book 5 in the ‘Blood of the Drakon’ series,
Now as I have said previously, I have not read any other N. J. Walters material, so I cannot compare to the previous books or how the story flows from there. I can say with confidence that this didn’t hinder the story one bit. I felt there was plenty of detail included; well enough explained that I never felt lost or confused.

I whole heartedly give this book 5/5.
I look forward to reading more from N.J.Walters in the future (and from the past).

"Drakon Unchained" is the fifth book in the Blood of the Drakon series and follows Victoria and Luther, who are both hiding. Victoria has a "gift" where she travels during her dreams to see things in the past, present, or future. As an orphan, this gift was more of a curse, as it creeped her caregivers out and led to some bad/lonely scenarios for her. The only person she felt who cared for her was a drakon who came to her in the woods, Sergio. Sergio used to talk with her and make her feel human, telling her about his life and what he was.

One day, Sergio stopped coming, and Victoria knew something happened to him. As her dreams would show her, he had been captured by one of the Knights of the Dragon, held hostage with his mate, Katherine. When Victoria gets an offer to work for one of the Knights, she takes the job only so she can find her childhood friend and help to set him free.

Luther is working for one of the Knights as head of security, but he is hiding a dangerous secret- one which if found would get him captured and/or killed. However, he is searching for his parents who were taken by the Knights a long while ago. He meets Victoria through this employment, and the attraction is instant. However, with both of them hiding big secrets, nothing is straightforward about their romance.

While the first half of the book was rather slow, the second half really makes up for it, moving quickly through events and action/adventure (only a couple small intimate scenes between main characters- overall a very clean book). While this is the fifth book in the series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone, as everything is well explained throughout. I liked both the main characters and was really cheering for them throughout. I wish there was a little more romance, but overall, it was still a solid fantasy with a hint of romance.

Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher through netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Drakon Unchained is book 5 in the Blood of the Drakon series by N.J. Walters. I’ve loved this series from the beginning and have been so excited about this new one. It most definitely did not disappoint.

When Victoria Marshall was a child living a lonely life in an orphanage, she made an unlikely friend while playing alone in the woods, a real life dragon. They met every afternoon until he stopped showing up. She just knew something had happened to him. Now, twenty years later, she is still looking for that friend who brightened her childhood days. Two years ago she got hired as the personal assistant to Herman Temple who was part of the organization, Knights of the Dragon. The Knights existed for the soul purpose of capturing and imprisoning Drakons so that they can drink their blood. The blood of a Drakon will cure all illnesses and can keep a human young forever.

Drakons have existed on earth for thousands of years. A Drakon is the child of a full blooded dragon and a human woman. They can shift easily back and forth between their human and dragon forms.

Two years ago Luther Henderson took over as head of security for Herman Temple. Since the first time he laid eyes on the prim assistant to Temple, he felt a weird pull to her. But he needed to stay completely focused on his job. There wasn’t any room for a woman in his life. Luther has secrets of his own and reasons for needing to stay in this job. The pull was getting too hard to resist, though. Could he trust Victoria? All it took was one kiss and he knew, he knew that Victoria Marshall was his.

“Deep within him, in the place he kept secret from everyone, something dangerous stirred. Victoria was his now. His to protect. His to care for. And he’d kill anyone who threatened her.”

As Victoria and Luther are forced to travel with Temple to another location, they find themselves in more danger than they realized possible. At the same time, their feelings for each other intensify creating an unbreakable bond.

“He’d finally found someone who filled the empty places in his soul, who shed light in the dark places.”

“Victoria didn’t just fill his heart. She was his heart.”

This is a non-stop, action filled addition to this series. At the same time, the romance developing between Luther and Victoria is sweet and hot! We get a little bit of two of the brothers we met in the previous books, Nic and Tarrant. As I said before, I have loved this series from the beginning. I am waiting for someone to take down the head of the whole Knights organization, Karina! I wonder who will be the one to do it?

Yes, you can definitely read this as a stand alone. There is plenty of information given to make it easy to gain the details you need to fill in the gaps. But, I do urge you to check out the previous books in the series. If you love dragon shifter books, this series is sure to make you happy!!

“You are my greatest treasure.”

Love this series about Dragon-Human or Drakon trying to keep themselves hidden. On a mission to find her childhood dragon friend Victoria takes a job with the Knights of the Dragon to try to find him. Also employed there Drakon Luther is undercover in hopes to find his parents. Great characters and story. Reading all in this series will be satisfying but Unchained can be read as a stand alone.
