Hidden is an intense read about ex-cop Mal and shy girl Pipa. They have instant connection may be because they have the same problems and are drawn to each other. But Pipa ends to be Mals new assignment and Pipa is hiding a lot from Mal. The story is intense until the end all the characters are interesting and we can see that this will be one interesting series of unique characters. They are great funny input in the book, great sexy times between real characters. I liked that the story was not predictable and it literally kept me on my toes.

Great first book. Lots of peeps introduced to get HEAs. It started to get confusing for a minute. Malcolm is yummy, hot and really knew his way around all the vertical and horizontal surfaces. Pippa was brave and strong to over come her past. She tried to run, but of course didn't get too far.

I think my favorite characters in this series are going to be Roscoe and Kat. Boy does Roscoe have issues.

This is the first book I've read by this author and boy did it not disappoint!

So many things caught and held my interest in this book. First and foremost of course was the chemistry between Pippa and Malcolm. Her fears had me intrigued from the start, I needed to find out why she acted the way she did and because her of how secluded she was how it was possible everyone thought she was tied to terrorism.

Then I NEEDED to know about "The Family." HOLY CRAP!!! The author definitely must have done her homework, because it was very easy to see how so many people could fall into the cult and not want to leave.

The side characters added to the story instead of distracting the reader, which I admit was a huge risk given how many they were. And can we PLEASE get more appearances from Roscoe? OMG!!!

I was actually really excited to read this book and was even more excited when I saw the ratings for it.

But unfortunately this book started out pretty cliche and I DNFed it around 20%. I'm not really into romances that are built on appearances and while I was drawn to the turmoil both of the MCs had it just fell flat when they both start acting out of their "norm". Here we have this MC who is having panic attacks when a guy knocks on her door and yet she's hardly questioning how she's behaving towards him.

I was also pretty weirded out by when she said "It's not like I'm a virgin or anything" I knew that once I saw that line in the boko that this was going to be a romance based on sexual tension. Which sometimes I'm okay with but there has to be other depths to keep me interested.

I wanted to keep reading this book but I was just really enjoying it.

I thought it had a good plot but a woman shouldn't lower her defenses simply because of an attractive man.

Review: HIDDEN (Deep Ops) by Rebecca Zanetti https://wp.me/p3d0RZ-aTt

Genre: Romantic Suspense

I loved this book! Pippa and Malcolm, neither of them able to be completely honest with each other, were perfect for each other and knew it. Their characters were so complex, and despite being damaged from their pasts, they melded together in a smoking hot romance. A ragtag group of people with interesting pasts were pulled together to start the clandestine Requisition Force – and what a group they are. Wounded souls with some strange quirks that make it all unique and fun to read. All of them were believable characters and pulled me into the story and their lives from page one.

Note: The copy I received was labeled as Requisition Force, but online it is shown as the Deep Ops Series. But no matter what the series name is, the story itself was full of danger, secrets, sexy romance, laughter and intrigue. There were times my heart pounded so hard, I had to get up and walk around before getting back to the story. I loved it all and cannot wait for book 2! Rebecca Zanetti has done it again.

Hidden is a fast paced suspense. The plot has many twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. I could put this one down. Fans of suspense will enjoy reading this book. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my digital arc this is my unbiased review.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Kensington for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Wow this is the start of a new series and it was so fast paced! There are some disturbing elements to the book that put people off if I am honest. Reading about cults is not a fun time. This has its moments but the author handles the subject matter well. There are parts that are humorous! I think everyone will call in love with the German Shepard who eats expensive shoes and luvs alcohol! There is romance as well as suspense! I think if you enjoy romantic suspense you should give this a try. I rate it a 4 probably because of the cult squeamishness (is that a word? ).

This book combines it all: romance, action, comedy, PTSD, shadowy government actions. Add in a cult, an alcoholic german shepherd, a kitten, and great banter between characters. The action is fast paced, and the romance is perfectly timed. Great start to a new series. Can't wait for the next title!

This is a book that kept me guessing. I thought at first that our “sort of” agoraphobic main character was going to have some psychic powers, then thought maybe she was hiding from a murderer, then realized she was hiding from a cult. That made the story even creepier!

The action keeps growing. I loved the hero. He was intensely sexy and...well, heroic. I actually liked his character better than hers. The moment when he realizes he isn’t letting her go sent a little zing. Loved it.

Great story (as usual) from Zanetti!

Love this author... This book was so fast paced, sexy, and fun. Pippa finds herself hiding and things take an unexpected turn when she finds herself lusting and ogling her neighbor. Is he just a neighbor or is he there for some other reason? Can she learn to trust in others or will doing so cost her everything?
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this book.

Hidden is the first in a new Deep Ops series by Rebecca Zanetti. Former FBI Profiler Angus Force is putting together a team to investigate cases that are off the radar of the Homeland Defense Department. Its team members could be described both as experts and off the wall misfits needing a second chance to redeem themselves.

Former Detective Malcomb West is burned out, coming off years of undercover work where he found himself growing attached to the very family he was sent in to investigate. Suffering from PTSD, he quits the force and plans to start anew somewhere else. His move to a new home in the country places him next door to beautiful shut in Pippa Smith. Coincidence or not?

Pippa Smith is hiding – she’s frightened. Is she a victim who needs Malcomb’s protection or is something more dark and sinister going on in Pippa’s past? Is Pippa someone who is a danger to others?

Zanetti weaves a clever and intriguing tale as Malcomb and Pippa are thrown together, fighting an attraction that neither were quite prepared for, through the machinations of Angus Force and his special unit.

Zanetti has a great start to a new series with some very unusual characters, including a dog with a shoe fetish and a fondness for alcohol. There are some triggers in this book, including cultism, child abuse, and sexual abuse. I’m usually not a big fan of anything that includes a cult in the story line but Zanetti does a masterful job of setting up the series and I’m really excited about where this series is going.

I received a free advanced copy of this book from NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

A terrific begining to a new series. Skillfully developed, fascinating characters, an interesting story line and lots of action, with steam on the side.

Pippa Smith quietly lives like a hermit, works as a virtual assistants as she hides from a dangerous cult, which she fled years ago. The quiet is shattered when gorgeous Malcolm West, ex undercover cop, moves next door. Like her, he suffers from panic attacks and abuse as a child. He is lured away from his plan of a quiet retirement by Angus Force, a government agent from a secret agency, when he informs him that Pippa might be in great danger as are many innocent Americans. The team he creates is made of of a number of interesting characters, all, I assume, will get their own books.

One con. Malcolm has doubts about Pippa, when he finds she has a go-bag, which he believes, is not something "most innocent people have". I have a go bag, as does my husband and dog. The Red Cross, FEMA and DHS all recommend that everyone have a go-bag and have used tax dollars to pay for public service ads to advocate for them.

Just who is Malcolm? Why does Pippa fascinate him so? Why does she act so jumpy? These and many other questions come to mind as you read this story. It is interesting the by play of each character (not just the main one's) in the book and their connections to one another. Will they survive? The only way to find out it to read this book, which is another hit for Rebecca Zanetti and the beginning of another great series by this author.

I was given this ARC by NetGalley to give an honest opinion.

Good book with good characters that both had something to hide. This book was definitely on the steamy side, but you will not hear any complaints from me!

This is the first book in her Deep Ops series and we are introduced to Malcolm, an ex-undercover cop who happens to move next door to a woman who has been in hiding herself. Malcolm gets to know Pippa, he is torn and doesn't know what to think of her.

These two had great chemistry and I really liked the story. Great start to a new series!

The first book in the new Deep Ops series by Rebecca Zanetti is an exhilarating, suspenseful page turning read with bold electrifying character that easily draws readers into their story. Pippa and Malcolm are alike in some ways but complete opposites in others to begin with, but readers soon realize that not everything is as it seems and the sizzling chemistry drawing Malcolm and Pippa together is right on track. The relationship has some serious obstacles to be overcome including emotional issues, trust issues and secretive pasts and the readers can’t help but empathize and cheer for this couple as they reach for a well-deserved happily forever after.

The romance is sweet and the passion is hot but this fast paced and smooth flowing plot has way more in store for readers. Thrills and excitement abound throughout this story as Pippa hides who she is and where she come from and Malcolm finds himself working undercover on a case that involves Pippa and her past. A few twists and turns keeps readers guessing and the anticipation building as everyone tries to determine if Pippa is one of the bad guys or is she a victim as well. I was completely enthralled in this story from beginning to end, the story is full of wonderful and quirky characters that adds a bit of humor to the story as well adding to the team building camaraderie of a new team’s beginnings, a motely crew of what some may day is undesirables. Oh wait, I can’t forget about the pets in this story as they certainly deserve some attention and a few chuckles, so this is for you Roscoe and Kat! Hellooooooo! meow!

A very good start to a new series. The first half gave me goosebumps as it was very suspenseful almost like the beginning of a scary movie. The second half of the novel was definitely more of a romantic suspense story. I definitely on board for this new series.

Pippa Smith was on the run and appeared to have severe anxiety issues while Detective Malcolm West was drowning in alcohol as a coping mechanism for his PTSD. When Malcolm was asked to take a new undercover assignment investigating a terrorist threat involves the cult Pippa used to belong to, Malcolm is forced to cozy up to the reclusive woman. But Pippa is suspicious of everyone especially law enforcement so Malcolm has his work cut out for him.
It became really clear that Pippa and Malcolm were yearning for a connection to someone or something. They both wanted to be free of their past and also sleep well at night. They both have been looking over the shoulder for so long that peace is a luxury they dare not wish for. How can he get her to share her past when he won’t come clean about his own secrets?

I enjoyed Malcolm and Pippa getting to a place where they had someone to trust and finding love. It was really fast for people with trust issues but I’ll chalk it up to them being starved for human contact. I enjoyed this story as it had just enough romance to keep me going but I was really curious about that serial killer.

This series is a departure from what Rebecca Zanetti’s normal narratives but it definitely had her signature style especially with the sex scenes. I think her last four books have all featured a spanking scene but I am not sure Pippa and Malcolm had achieved that level of comfort after just a week of knowing each other. Especially for a woman who is in counseling and possible on medication for her panic attacks. I would have liked more development and discussion about Pippa’s anxiety and Malcolm’s PTSD. However, the author laid down a foundation for an off the books Homeland Security Department task force ~ The Requisition Force. I think it’s going to be really good as each member gets their own story. Each task member has a compelling backstory and I am really looking forward to hearing it, especially the dog Roscoe.

An interesting and exciting start to a new series. Both of the MC's could be a little annoying but, overall, I thought Pippa and Malcolm worked well together.
Nice suspense and danger, interesting secondary characters, and some smexy-times (which I admit to skipping some since I don't enjoy reading sexual domination) make this book a solid 3 3/4 stars.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias.

This book is hot action filled romance book, with a hot and sexy hero and heroine. The plot is thick with questions and you can’t wait to see what is going to happen next.

I really liked this fast-paced read with plenty of drama and suspense. Pippa is doing her best to stay hidden and Malcolm is an undercover cop looking for some peace. But when sparks fly between these two, Malcolm knows someone set him up to keep her safe. When the past catches up to both of them will they stick together or run again. Great characters with lots of action. I was really drawn into the story. A good read.

loved the first half of this book - it had everything I was looking for. Interesting and well developed characters with a great backstory, a plot that had me intrigued, secondary characters I loved, the slow burn of a relationship between two people who had been hurt. I really liked the set-up between the MC's and I even enjoyed the undercover with the cult portion. However, at about the half way point things took a turn that threw me off a bit. Pippa has a pretty harrowing background where she has seen many women abused both physically and sexually so the spanking sex scene just didn't work for me because it didn't seem to fit Pippa. It's not that I have an issue with spanking but it seemed out of place and rather sudden. Then came all the sudden "interruptions" when Pippa was ready to come clean to Malcolm which were just a bit too convenient. I was drawn back in when Pippa discovered some of Malcolm's secrets but then suddenly all was forgiven and she was telling him she loved him. The love in this case was very instant and I just had a hard time believing it. The resolution also seemed rushed to me after the slow and careful buildup in the first half of the book. For me the pacing just felt off at times, very slow at some points and then rushed at the end. I also never really understood the villains motivation and would have liked to understand why he was doing what he was doing a bit more.

Still even with all that said I really enjoyed some of the secondary characters and I'm intrigued with the team as a whole. I'm looking forward to learning more about Angus, Raider, Bridgid, Nari, but my two favorite characters were by far Roscoe the alcoholic, high heel wearing, can't stand plaid dog and the crazy, kitten in his pocket, ex- seal Wolfe. I will definitely check out book 2 for those characters alone plus the sneak peak of the second book at the end has me willing to give this series a chance.
