This was one of the best books that I have read this summer. I loved the story line and the characters but most of all I loved the dog. There was so much humor in this book that I found myself thinking about it days after I finished it.

First book I’ve read by Rebecca Zanetti and it definitely won’t be the last! Hidden is the first installment of the Deep Ops Series. Pippa and Malcolm both have secrets. He’s an ex-cop and she’s on the run from her past. Intensely sexy, action packed, and completely un-put-down-able! Hidden was a page turner that kept me riveted from page one. I needed to find out what was next. Great cast of characters that I’m looking forward to reading more about. Looking forward to more in this series.

I enjoyed reading this book. Pippa and Malcolm make a great couple by the end of the story. I liked that it wasn't your normal plot for a romance, i.e. guy saves woman.

Pippa is hiding. Forced by her mother to join a cult when she was young, Pippa finally escaped. She has basically turned herself into a shut-in. When her new neighbor spots her spying on him while he’s moving in, she has the mother of all panic attacks. She doesn’t know who this new neighbor is. Only that she doesn’t know him. She doesn’t trust people she doesn’t know, anymore than she trusts people that she does know. What she soon learns about her neighbor is that he has his own demons.

Malcolm West is fresh off an undercover job. He was under for two years and became good friends with the person he was bringing down. In the end, Malcolm had to kill the guy that had become like family to him. After that, Malcolm is out. He wants nothing to do with undercover or police work. That changes when he meets his sexy new neighbor. Suddenly he finds his house invaded by Angus Force, a federal agent in the HDD. Angus tells Malcolm that Pippa is actually a sleeper. She’s waiting on an order from the cult (she escaped) leader to go blow some shit up. Malcolm doesn’t buy it, especially when he starts getting to know Pippa. He can’t deny that she is lying to him, but he’s doing the same thing. Because now he wants to prove that she’s innocent and he can’t do that if she keeps lying to him.

As she and Malcolm start spending more time together, Pippa finds herself falling deeper and deeper. Malcolm is the kind of man she has fantasized about. Then she realizes that something about him just doesn’t add up. He tells her he is in requisitions, but gets emergency phone calls in the middle of the night. She finally figures out that he has been undercover and she has been his assignment. Pippa is devastated. Especially when she understands that she has been nothing but a job to him.

Malcolm doesn’t care what Pippa thinks of him. He knows she’s innocent and he’s going to prove it with or without her help. Oh and another thing? He’s not going to let her go.

I really enjoyed reading Hidden. It was a great start to a new series by Zanetti. She’s introduced some great characters and I’m really looking forward to reading more. Malcolm and Pippa were both so damaged, they were naturally drawn to each other. Pippa tries to help Malcolm at the risk of her own safety which really showed her true character. I can’t wait until the next book!

This review will be posted at the link closer to the release date.

Hidden is the first volume in the new Rebecca Zanetti series titled Deep Ops. The second volume will be titled Fallen but I don’t know the release date yet. I can already say that I intend on reading the sequel. I found again the flowing and dynamic style by Rebecca Zanetti, an author I appreciate a lot, and a well done action.

Hidden features Pippa and Malcolm in a romantic suspense context. We know from the start who is the bad guy to fight and why our heroes are involved.
Malcolm is an ex-cop who’s worked under cover for several years. His last long mission convinced him to quit. So it’s for the sake of his tranquility that he buys a house far from everything. His only neighbor is Pippa. Their first meeting is full of fear and tension because Pippa hides heavy secrets, she’s afraid and doesn’t want to see him. But little by little she’s going to open up to him and decides not to hide anymore.
Very quickly Malcolm realizes he was tricked by Angus Force. The latter is in the middle of creating a team with Homeland Security’ support. His goal is to gather agents with specific qualifications for infiltration and search missions. He wants to have Malcolm in this team. Malcolm finally accepts and his first mission is to investigate a sect they suspect is preparing a terrorist attack.

I really liked the main couple. The hero’s work and the heroine’s secret are necessarily going to collide and we wonder how they will overcome it. What’s more, the undercover work asks for sometimes closed contacts with opposite sex suspects for heterosexual characters and that’s why I’m not fan of this kind of basis. But here the author manages very well. I appreciated the fact the heroine doesn’t let the hero walk all over her but I appreciated the love scenes less.
The suspense side is well done and we have all the answers at the end of the book, and we believe in the couple’s HEA.

As for the secondary characters, we discover as we go by the members of the team created by Angus Force who is a profiler. Each of them has a secret and/or a hard or even traumatic past of which we don’t know anything in this volume. We only know that Angus is obsessed with looking for a dead serial killer he thinks is still alive, but nothing for the others.
There’s Dr. Nari Zhang, a psychologist imposed by the government and who will have to judge the aptitude of the different members to integrate this team, among other things. Let’s say that doesn’t agree with them at all.
There’s also Clarence Wolfe, former lieutenant commander, a tough cookie with a soft heart; Brigid Branaghan, incarcerated hacker who should be free after her mission with Angus Force; and finally Raider Tanaka, agent from the government who’s also Brigid’s supervisor. They should all have their story.
And lastly there’s also a strange dog, Roscoe, and a cat, Kat. I won’t say who’s the next volume’s couple, I’m just thrilled with what awaits us.

To conclude, I recommend this novel and I hope the rest of the series will be up to the first volume and most of all that it will be release quickly.

Amazing new romantic suspense! The story is just so so good and I am honestly not surprised. Pippa Smith has been hiding for 7 years now. Because of her fear of being spotted she pretty much never leaves the house. She’d been sort of okay with the solitude until her sexy new neighbor moves in and makes her want more out of life. Malcolm West is one sexy alpha ex-cop with demons galore. They find solace in each other’s arms; hot and steamy solace. But the real world, Malcolm’s new job and Pippa’s past all mingle together to wreak havoc on this new blossoming relationship that is sort of built on lies. But are their feelings real?? Once the truth is out can they work together along with Mal’s very interesting and amusing band of misfits, that includes a very unique dog and a pocket sized kitten, to confront and put a stop to the past that threatens to ruin Pippa’s life??
Another fantastic RZ series!! Can’t wait for Brigid and Raider next!!

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC!

Hidden is a highly enjoyable start to a new series from a favorite author. I was quickly sucked into story, and now I can't wait to find out more about the band of misfits that have formed a task force operating on the fringes to protect the country!

Malcolm West has spent years undercover, and his last assignment took a serious toll on him both mentally and physically. He is just looking for a quiet place off the beaten path to recover but he is dismayed to discover the perfect home he located was not as great a find as he thought when Angus Force comes knocking on his door. Force is putting together a team to discretely investigate threats to national security and he is trying to recruit Mal to help... starting with investigating Mal's shut-in neighbor Pippa who may just be a sleeper agent from a cult who is planning a terrorist attack. Mal quickly sends him packing but the thought that the pretty lady next door may be a danger to society just doesn't sit well with him... score one for Force, and he has a new team member no matter how reluctant he may be. Mal finds himself in the uncomfortable position of being back undercover and fighting his personal feelings in an effort to get the job done for the greater good.

Pippa has been on the run for so long that she is becoming borderline agoraphobic in an effort to stay away from cameras and facial recognition software. She managed to escape the crazy that her mom dragged her into years earlier on the day before she turned 18, and she has been trying to stay one step ahead of the obsessed cult leader who believes she is destined to fulfill his visions ever since. Mal scares the life out of her the first time she sees him, but she quickly realizes that he is just another damaged soul trying to survive. Trust doesn't come easily to either one of them, and the secrets they are keeping from each other are always in the background even as the sparks of attraction start flying.

Pippa and Mal get hot and heavy pretty quickly but things are complicated to say the least. Mal is a genuinely good guy so he feels guilty about succumbing to his baser instincts but he can't deny that there is something different about this woman. Every time Pippa thinks about sharing her story with Mal something gets in the way. Eventually something's gotta give and it comes in the form of a phone call Pippa has been fearing for years. Anger, frustration and terror combine to propel her to try to end the madness once and for all, and Mal has a decision to make. The two loners suddenly find themselves wanting to keep someone in their life more permanently, but the secrets, lies and threat to Pippa may make that impossible.

The author weaves a well plotted tale of intrigue and suspense with plenty of hot and steamy moments thrown in. All the characters introduced are wonderfully flawed with their own set of quirks, even Force's German Shepherd Dog Roscoe who quickly became one of my favorite characters in the story! He is certainly a unique character who stole my heart and had me laughing out loud throughout the story. As for the rest of Mal's new team members, they are all on the fringes of government work for various reasons and I cannot wait to find out more. We have a hacker released from prison to help the team; a straight-laced hottie FBI handler she has been assigned that she just can't seem to take her eyes off of; a profiler who had to get a little too in-depth into the mind of one of the nastiest serial killers in the last century; a spec ops soldier who may just be a little bit certifiable; and a shrink who won't reveal what exactly she did to get herself assigned to the team. This group will definitely provide some interesting stories in the future, and I am waiting patiently to see what happens next!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. The review below is entirely my own opinion.

I’m really excited about this new series from Rebecca Zanetti. I love the motley crew of misfits that make up the Requisitions Force team. This was a good, very solid, introductory book.

I must admit, however, that the secondary characters interested me more than the MC’s of this book. I’m so intrigued by Nari, Wolfe, Brigid, Raider and Angus. And Roscoe, Angus’s alcoholic dog with PTSD? OMG! Roscoe stole the show and my heart!

As for the MC’s themselves — I was more invested in reading about the action-thriller arc than the romance. And frankly, I’m no shrink but Mal and Pippa’s relationship seemed like a psychological landmine or time-bomb waiting to explode rather than a solid HEA.

Lastly, that snippet at the end for Fallen, the next Requisitions Force book, has me so eager to read it! Brigid and Raider? Yeah baby!

I seriously find it hard not to love anything written by Rebecca Zanetti, and Hidden is no exception. While I have my favourite series by this author, what drives me to read everything she writes is the ease with which she draws the reader into her world and keeps you riveted by the danger and turmoil that make these books so addictive. Some seriously hot romance and sexual chemistry don’t go astray either.

Hidden may be the first book in the Deep Ops, but I’m sure it’s just the spring board for another captivating, must read series by Ms Zanetti and I know I’ll be waiting impatiently for the next intriguing story.

Hidden is the beginning of a new series by Rebecca Zanettii. If you have read her books before you know her books have steamy sex scenes but she is also able to weave it between character building, a story that will haunt you as you put the book down and humor. That's right humor this story has moments where you will laugh. I was surprised how much I fell in love with the secondary characters and the humor they bought into the story.
Malcolm isn't one of the funner moments the animals and Wolfe were perfect and a good balance to some of the darker side of the story.
This book straddles the line (Pun in Tended) of erotic and Romance. Readers can skip the sex scenes because they do not add to the basic story line which is what readers will not be able to get enough of.

I can't wait to read the next book in this fun, dark romantic suspense series.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publsher for the advance copy of Rebecca Zanetti Hidden
(Deep Ops #1)

Hidden is the first book in the new romantic suspense series Deep Ops. Requisition Force is a unit that infiltrates and rescues people from places very few would dare to go. Fast paced and well written I really enjoyed this story, Malcolm and Pippa were good first characters and I will definitely be reading more

This is such a well written book. I love this new series. The characters are intense but quirky. I love the Roscoe the dog. He is hilarious! I love the way the author takes a dark book and incorporates humor into it. I received an advance review copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Well, I have to think a bit to figure out how I want to review this new series. Let me start by saying that I absolutely LOVE Rebecca Zanetti and there hasn't been a series so far that she has written that I have not liked. This book was odd in the fact that I read a snippet from of the beginning (Chapter 1) at the end of one of her last books, then somehow, I ended up reading that same snippet somewhere else. Then, by the time I actually read the book, I almost stopped reading because I felt like I had already read the book.

Anyway, about the book. At the end, I liked it. Will I continue on to book 2 of the series? Absolutely. Did it amaze me.....? Not really. And the problem is that I cannot put my finger on what the problem was. Or, if there really was a problem. I mean I gave it 4 stars, and I do NOT give 4 stars unless I really like the book - so I guess that should be it. The only reason I think that I'm a bit stumped is because of the fact that I REALLY like Zanetti and her books usually knock my socks off - not usually just feeling okay.

We are told at the beginning that the MC is a scared shut in, almost afraid of her shadow. Then, by the next day, she's running out in the rain to "help" this new, very large neighbor in the middle of a PTSD attack...at night. Then, she sleeps with this unknown, scary neighbor and after that, we don't really deal with a scared timid shut in anymore. The lack of continuity kind of took me out of the story. Other than that, I enjoyed the new "gang" and love the fact that they are a bunch of misfits. I think each new book in the series will be about each of them, - the uptight HDD Special Agent, the crazy Special Ops guy, and the FBI profiler with the shrink. Oh, and the dog!! I absolutely love the Jack Daniels drinking, high heel wearing dog with all of his "quirks"! Hilarious!!

The first book in any series usually has to do a bit more to take care of the world building and the foundation is laid. I look forward to continuing on and seeing if this can become another Zanetti series that I adore.

Oh, and this is actually the first time that I can say that this book was provided to me by Net Galley for me to review. Huh...always used to see that and now I'm part of the cool crowd!

Hidden is an inside look at a cult and both the people trying to run from it and the people who are still influenced by it. It was a unique and enjoyable read. There was plenty of intrigue as well as a good dash of romance!!

Malcolm moves into the house next to Pippa. He scares her a bit - of course, she is somewhat of an introvert...

We find out that Malcolm was a great undercover detective and that the government had set him up in that house for a purpose.

We also find out that reason is Pippa.

Pippa's picture shows prominently on the HDD headquarter walls as one of four women in a cult that the government is looking for. Malcolm has been set up in this house to become Pippa's confidant and to infiltrate the cult, as well.

As time progresses, Malcolm and Pippa form a romantic bond - one that was not in the "plans". However, TRUST between the two of them becomes a very important issue.

We see that Pippa was first brought into "Isaac's cult" when she was 10 years old. The story proceeds as the book continues on. Malcolm follows Pippa to a small town diner where she meets Trixie, another cult defector.

While at the diner, Pippa sees Malcolm enter with another man. All of a sudden there are gunshots and lives lost. Malcolm proves his skills (and almost blows his cover in front of Pippa).

Eventually, the reader sees that it makes the most sense for Malcolm and Pippa to join forces to bring the cult down, as Isaac is planning a mass attack (most likely on DC, Boston, NY or all three).

What happens as the "team" tries to save countless lives?

A GREAT read! Superb character development and writing. Has you hooked from the very first page - a MUST READ!

Many thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for an interesting rollercoaster ride !!!

4 Stars!!

This is my first book of the author and i cant wait to read her other books!!!

Pippa is in the hiding from a Cult... After the death of her dad when she was six, Pippa's mom joined the cult. The leader of the Cult is a sick guy who inflicts pain on women, misuses them and rapes them too..In the name of god, he calls them all family and drugs them and make them do all his dirty work.. However he doesnt sexually abuse pippa citing to keep her pure and marry her at the age of 18.
So, when pippa gets a chance, she runs away from the Cult along with a friend Trixie.. And for seven years she is hiding from the cult..
Malcolm is an ex-cop who worked undercover.. He is scarred due to his last undercover operation and suffers from PTSD.. He is offered a job by Angus in requisition force to investigate the cult and Pippa as they think she is involved with them..
Though Malcolm refuses initially, his attraction towards Pippa makes him take the job.. And eventually they fall for each other despite the lies..
Pippa is scared in confiding her past.. And Mal wants to know the truth behind her past in order to protect her... While they are battling between the past and the present, the Cult is in search of Pippa and planning a massive destruction..
I really liked both Malcom and Pippa... They were both strong and loyal despite the scarred past.. It took some time, but i really ended up loving them as characters and their love for each other..
And i loved Angus, Wolfe and cant wait to read about them...

While reading this one all I could think of was the Island of Misfit Toys from the Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer cartoon, only instead of misfit toys we have misfit investigators/law enforcement types. The crew is a motley bunch, all quirky in their own right, the most quirky the dog Roscoe, who became my favorite character!

As all of these characters are a bit odd it could have come off over the top and not in a good way, instead it all worked. I think as the series goes on we'll see the group gel more, instead of how things are now, all of them a bit wary of each other. I do think the painting at the end started them all bonding.

Malcom was interesting. I felt like he had the hardest job being he was under cover on not one job, but 2. Sure they were linked, but it didn't help that Mal really liked Pippa and the only lies he told her were about his job.

I felt for Pippa, she was so scared and so wanted to believe in Mal, but she was smart and realized things were off. For Pippa it was a good thing that Mal was there to help her, as things got sticky towards the end, but they all managed to pull of the save.

I look forward to reading more in this story, to see what all the misfits are up to.

I think the plot was good enough, but in a way the "team" was a little too excessive to be believable and it took the scene away to the "real protagonists", so I am not sure I have appreciate this book as much as I should.

THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!

Fast paced story. I've always liked Rebecca Zanetti's stories, and this one was no different. Kept me guessing until the end on Pippa's role in the cult. But I loved the group of guys - especially Wolfe! (and Kat) Can't wait for the next in the series.

Hidden is my first book by Rebecca Zanetti but it definitely won’t be my last. It’s not that I’ve been going out of my way to avoid romantic suspense, but lately I just haven’t been in the mood for the drama. Well... this one sold me,. It had a vintage Suzanne Brockmann vibe to it and that is high praise from me!

4.5 stars from me! Well developed characters, a strong, suspenseful storyline... looking forward to the next in the series.
