Remembrance was a short novella that makes the reader think about life and how lucky we are. Beatrice had an unforgettable accident that occurred 25 years before. She wanted to thank the person who saved her life, but never found the person. She moved on with her life and after 20+ years of marriage, a beautiful home, a family and a good job, she is feeling discontent. As Christmas approaches, others no longer want to attend her parties and events and her only happiness or contentment comes from working at the local soup kitchen. When she meets and talks to a homeless man named Charles, they both feel a connection and their discussions change both their outlooks and lives. I enjoyed this short story about a Christmas Miracle from 25 years earlier and how it affects lives in the present. This story made me feel compassion, caring and hopefulness. We never know how or when our words or actions will affect someone, even a stranger, but this made me think a lot about that. My only complaint is because this was a novella, I wanted to know more about Beatrice and her family, but that did not affect my enjoyment of this story.

A beautiful story about giving back to others, be grateful for what you have, and appreciating life. It reminded me a lot of a Debbie Macomber book, especially with the holiday theme. I do think it was a little short, but that made it a quick read.

A good read with a great message. However, it was just too short for my taste. I wanted to know more about the characters and why Beatrice was so bossy and clingy. I wanted to know more about her and Eric's marriage.

Remembrance was a quick read. Some of the events were a bit cliche’, but the result left this reader with good feelings.

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I LOVED this book! It was a great short read. Very emotional - the ending was just perfect. I will admit that in the very beginning I wasn't sure I liked the main character - Bea, but as I got more into the book I grew to adore her. I had never read any of Mary Monroe's books but they are on my list now!!

A story about finding yourself when you are lost in the idea that you have everything, Remembrance gives us a look at both sides of the coin. Beatrice is rich, well off, and has a perfect life, but something has gone wrong. She feels empty and only helping at a local soup kitchen can provide her with joy. There she meets a man who may or may not be from her past, but will definitely change her mind about her life.

With interesting characters and a dynamic plot, Remembrance will do more than tell a story, it opens eyes to the way the homeless live. A wonderful book I was happy to get as an ARC from the publisher....

I have not read many books by this author and to be honest the Christmas cover caught my attention. This is an emotional story. I loved the way the story flowed and I identified with the characters. I can say I enjoyed the book more than I thought I would and wl be reading more books by Ms Monroe. Thank you netgalley for the arc of this book. The review is my sole opinion.

A lovely late-in-life romance. Very touching. Reminded me of Debbie Macomber at her best. I think you'll really enjoy this heartwarming holiday romance.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

This book was a great study in family relationships and how our life changes as we move through various parts. Mary Monroe addresses how people's confidence and happiness can change from marriage through the birth of children and finally through to the empty nest stage and finding your way to fulfillment once your household is back to just you and your spouse. She really finds a good way to address your doubts and anxieties. While this book got better the further into it I got, I found it just didn't have the "gripping' power I was looking for.

I loved this one! Yes, it is one of those "Christmas Miracle" books where you know how things will work out, but the author did such an amazing job with detailing the journey to that point that I couldn't put it down! This is definitely one that stays with the reader long after the last page has been turned.

Have you ever had an experience that left your life turned up side down? Have you ever "lost" who you are because you were to consumed with everything else to make sure you are at your best? That is Beatrice. She has a longing and sense to belong at all times. She is a superwoman who does not know when enough is enough. Enters Charles. He is the male version of Beatrice. Will two people with similar situations be able to help each other in time for Christmas?

Beatrice more or less has it all. Unfortunately, with Christmas coming, she's actually thinking of what she doesn't have. Charles, one of the homeless men at the shelter where she volunteers, also once thought he had everything and then, well he didn't. These two make each other think about the blessings they've got. At the heart of this plot is Beatrice's long search for the person who saved her life an accident years ago. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. You might think you know how this is going to end but go with it because you'll meet some nice characters, have a pleasant read, and enjoy a positive message.

No words can describe how this story made me feel.

Mary has an uncanny ability to write stories that evoke deep thoughts about one's current situation.

Highly recommend!

I received and ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Mary Monroe introduced a new set of characters with "Remebrance". This story line was very family oriented which is a switch from her previous juicy, drama filled novels. There were a few tear jerking moments as well as cliff hangers. All in all "Remebrance" deserves a part II as we were left with a what happens next ending. Great read!
