Honestly, I really like Emma Mills. Her stories are always fun to read and I usually fly through them. Famous in a Small Town is no different. Sophie is a nice girl who wants to do the right thing fo her friends and her town, all while neglecting to do the right thing for herself. We learn about her friends, the new kid across the street, and what the past has done to her and those of Acadia. But there are some negatives; the plot is a little thin, the main character isn’t exactly believable, and the climax feels way too perfect. This is a great contemporary, but it’s not going to be sticking with me the way some books do. |
Another great book by Emma Mills. I was up till 3 in the morning because I couldn't stop reading Famous In A Small Town. The way Emma writers her characters they are something special and you can't help getting attached to them. I cried and laughed my way through this book. It is definitely a must read for all!! |
This was a cute, light-hearted romance that had me attached to each character. I feel the author missed some big opportunities to hit on some important topics - drinking, lgbtq, grief - but overall I thoroughly enjoyed this. I wanted to know more about each character – who was the mystery guy that Dash was talking to? What made Flora so innocent? What did August want to –do- in life? What did SOPHIE want to do? At the same time, the focus on the here and now in the book was part of what made it a light and fun read. Definitely a great palate cleanser (in the best way)! I've already got another Emma Mills book on my kindle to dive into! |
This book took me by surprise. I wasn't expecting too much -- maybe a fluffy, predictable romance. But I got more. The romance was sweet, the twist was twisty, and the characters were fully developed. Definitely one of my new favorites! |
