I don’t know what I expected of this book but I clearly expected more. Take the floral spiral for example. It literally just has you grabbing flowers and arranging them in a spiral then taking a picture of it. Um. Even I could have thought of that and I consider myself a perma-newbie at arts and crafts. I love them. I just don’t put the practice in. So I guess what I expected was something more that what I would think of on my own. This is just too basic.

I do like the concept of art where the main supplies come straight from nature combined with art that is just inspired by nature. I do think the authors are talented. I just don’t think the projects in this book are really truly worthy of a book.

The things that are in this book that do warrant a book probably need a book of their own to truly be useful. Woodburning for example.

If I know I won't ever open an art or craft book again, it's failed me. I won't open this one again.

There is plenty in this book to get your creative juices flowing. As a crafter myself, there are ideas in each section that I not only found informative but also found myself thinking of ways to adapt what I was being shown.

I've not tried flower pressing yet love some of the ideas in Nature Art to want me to give it a go and soon!

Reading this via a tablet was sometimes a little long winded to get the pages to turn but well worth the wait. The colourful presentation throughout along with tips and ideas and very nicely laid out instructions were easy to follow and beautifully presented. I am part of a craft group and know the girls would love the inspiration and ideas given in this book and I'll definitely recommend it to them for some of our future projects, we love combining nature within our projects and the contents within this book suit our style of crafting enormously.

I received Nature Art Workshop via NetGalley and I would recommend to any reader/crafter wanting a lovely presented craft workshop full of mix-media ideas. It would also make a fabulous present to any new or seasoned crafters.

What a little treasure Nature Art Workshop: by Katie Brooks, Sarah Lorraine Edwards,. This was and a great find. I just loved this book and the way everything flowed. A lot of thought went into it especially as its cramped with so much information.
This wonderful book is split into lots of sections, and has brilliant step-by-step instructions on how to create your creations. There are so many in this book, more than 50 tips, techniques, and projects for using found materials to create mixed-media artwork inspired by nature. This will keep you busy for a long time. Some of these are Pressed Flower ceramic dish, Flowered adorned candles, How to paint stones, features, shells, leaves the list goes on............this book is inspired by nature and will get out outdoors to hunt for these wonderful items to make your creation.

I found this book would be great for groups i.e. Scouts, Brownies, Guides, Church groups,Mum, dad, aunties and uncles and especially for Schools. This is a book that will help get us out side looking for things to make our creations for home or presents.

Highly recommended! for all ages young to mature.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this title in exchange for an honest review.

I have a confession to make , i am in love with this book.
I don't even know where to start there are so many things in it that i am excited about.

From the beginning then.. don't be fooled by the pretty cover, this is not another watercolour tutorial or painting step by step guide. it really is a "workshop"of mixed media activities.
Even from the first few pages this book stood out, the Table of contents page has the loveliest of page layouts/border, in between chapters are beautiful nature photos and each page has little extra that completes the book for wonderfully.

The meet the artist section was really nice, its great to see who does what and put a face to the art.
The book is split into sections, Flowers, stones and shells, wood, other natural elements and nature inspired art.

I started to jot down my most favorite projects , the ones i 100% will be trying and more than likely for gifts , however the list was pretty much every project in the book so i have narrowed it down to the projects that i believe anyone can do and get a great result and that are the most original or different from what i have seen before.
The leaf roses, Pressed flower sugar skull, beach mandala, leaf study garland, wood burning coasters and feather illustration. These projects along with all the others are brilliant .

I couldn't not mention my absolute favorite section though, the wood burning section. this unfortunately is often an overlooked craft, however the information, explanation and projects in this book are excellent. The herb rack is unreal!

This book is an absolute pleasure to read, and a brilliant and absolutely essential book for anyone who enjoys art ,crafts, nature, mixed media, and homemade gifts.

I have already preordered this to add to our home library.

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to view this "Nature Art Workshop", because of its description, and especially because of the stunning cover. Unfortunately, the cover of the book was misleading, and was completely unrelated to the content of the book. Had the cover showed photos of what the actual projects within the book were, I would not have been as disappointed with the book as I was. The cover art portrays beautiful watercolor projects, but there are only a few small watercolor and gouache projects at the very back of the book, and those projects lack depth and detail. They seem more of an afterthought than a valued part of the book. The cover and description of the book truly need to describe the actual contents, in order to avoid confusion and disappointment, and thus poor reviews by readers who cannot thumb through the book prior to purchase. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have received a free digital copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley. I was not required to provide a review. The opinions started here are my own.

I'm not sure what I expected, but it wasn't what this is! The art is lovely, although I think that this is probably a better coffee table book than a book with projects that I will actually partake in.
