I enjoyed this book. I liked the characters. There was excitement, twists and turns, and surprises. The only thing I didn't care too much for was the ending. It was sudden. Just seemed there should have been a little more explanation to end everything. Otherwise, a good book. |
This was a bit disappointing on most levels The storyline was predictable, no matter how many twists Freeborn tried to throw in. The character building felt a bit flat and very cliche, so much angst thrown in, despite them not being close to being teenagers There wasn't much mystery, it was quite easily unraveled. But most of all, I found this a chore to read. I would have never finished it if it wasnt an ARCs. Not for me |
Cute, funny, and swoon worthy. I was laughing throughout this book and was always wondering what was going to happen next. Loved seeing our characters develop throughout the story as well. The ending was sort of predictable, but still loved it anyways. |
Sarah Burrowes is heart-broken, left behind by her boyfriend, with a mortgage she can't afford. Her dreams of being a journalist seem like a thing in the past and she spends her days working a column in a gossip magazine, that is going nowhere. Her life is in ruins and she is lonely. Till one night a chance meeting with a sexy stranger turns out to be the chance of a lifetime. After a little white lie and begging Sarah gets that chance of a lifetime. To bad her ex boyfriends bff Nick is assigned to be her photographer. They had a one night stand that went bad and barely get along, now she has to spend her time working on this story together. How will they not kill each other? When the assignment turns a sinister corner Nick and Sarah find that getting along may just save their lives. This book was full of twists and turns that will have you second guessing yourself over and over. A well thought out plot full of comedy and suspense. At times the plot was not written well, a bit choppy at times. Even though I found some parts to be lagging, I still found it to be a very enjoyable read. Nick and Sarah are wonderful characters that have amazing chemistry. The ending leaves you hanging just a bit, but not like a cliff dive. It leaves room to continue Sarah's story further. I would hope that Nick and Sarah continue together. If you are looking for a steady paced read that will keep you guessing right up to the end, then this book is for you. It has a thick and engaging plot, with fun and energetic characters. Even though there were some slow spots in the story, it was still a fun and suspenseful read. *ARC provided by Netgalley & Rebecca Freeborn |

Freeborn pulls a sleight of hand in this romance/action/mystery. Sarah and Nick are great together banter wise. The mystery was a good one and involved lots of action and many changes of scenery. It ended well and the pace was steady throughout the book. I will be looking for more by this author. |
Brilliant, funny, and full of surprises on every page. I loved this book Every page every chapter brought me closer to the characters and the answers I wanted to uncover. Sarah thought she found the answer to her bad luck but little did she know when she took her new job she would be in the middle of a mystery and just maybe in the middle of a new romance. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and write about this book. |

Loved the intricated story that is solved throughout the book. I start the book waiting for her to end with the rockstar, so I’m waiting for a common sweet kind of story. So for much of my surprise in the second and third chapters I’m hooked on the story and it’s nothing of what I was expecting. It’s a surprisingly a great story with a good criminal mystery involved that doesn’t get solved until the very end. Nonetheless, it also has the main character love life exposed and her doubts about with who should she be. I loved the story and recommend it to everyone who likes a bit of mystery and romance. I would have liked an end with a few more pages to be able to see more into the future of the character but loved it anyway. |
I really enjoyed this novel! It was funny, witty, and absolutely swoon worthy. I loved watching the chemistry between Sarah and Nick unfold. I liked how she starts out so chaotic in the wake of being dumped and somehow learns to stand on her own two feet. While this book has a typical ending you coming, I was still hooked and could not put it down. |
I just didn't feel this book, not my cuppa tea... The story itself wasn't really bad just the plot and idea wasn't really my thing... |

This was an intriguing story that kept me on the edge of my seat. I was trying to figure out the twists & turns & every time I thought I had it, there would be a new plot twist. I enjoyed reading it, but I wish there was a little more at the end. I felt a little unsatisfied, but then again, I kinda wrote my own ending from there so that was kind of fun. Overall a good read that will keep you entertained. |
Enjoyed the read but felt some areas drug on too much. Suspenseful areas that kept my interest in continuing to read further. Chemistry between main characters felt childish at times. |

A globe trotting mystery with a but steam. Cute with some unexpected twists. The h was a little wishy washy for my taste. Overall it was just okay. |

I almost put this book down about 50 times. The whole thing feels like a wild goose chase from beginning to end. I was so frustrated by Sarah's stupidity, I wanted to kick her. And the constant push-pull between Sarah and Nick as well as Sarah and stupid James made me want to gag. I was hoping for a romance story that provided some entertainment with the setting and the suspense, but this was just disjointed and silly. I won't be looking for more of the story or more from this author. The only reason I finished reading the book was that I accepted the ARC from NetGalley and felt a responsibility to see it through. |
I love the adventure this book takes you on! It is fun to try and track down and follow all the clues to find out who is really behind all of the drugs. Cash seems like such a sweet rockstar and one who cares for other people and is just following the misdirection of his manager. With Cash on the run and Sarah and Nick following any leads and her intuition she seems to be in the right place at the right time to keep tabs on him. The ex is a jerk and there is way to much of her attention devoted to Jason. It was great to see Nick and Sarah’s relationship develop into something great! |
This was such a fun read! The chemistry between the two lead characters is fab and a couple of love scenes were hot! Hot Pursuit was a real delight to read; full of humor and adventure, with a spirited protagonist that’s certainly bitten off more than she can chew. |
I was excited about this book because it was a recommendation that since I loved Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating and Sophie Kinsella. I'm sorry to say it wasn't quite what I was expecting. I wanted more romance and more character chemistry. Long chapters, Sarah was frustrating. I'll read In Hot Water to give the story a chance. |
This book was amazing. Read very quickly but I did not want it to end. Can’t wait to see what Rebecca Freeborn comes up with next |

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next in the series. Sarah was recently dumped by the "love of her life" and is in a bar with her friends to "cheer up". She meets a Scottish man, Chris, who also is in a band, The Fords, touring Australia where she lives. They go back to his hotel room but he gets a call and leaves immediately to take care of something. Sarah goes home back to her life. She gets an opportunity at work to prove herself as a journalist by trying to find out what happened to Chris as it seems he has disappeared. She figures out he went to Barcelona, Spain and she and NIck, a photojournalist for the magazine she works for follow him. Nick is a ladies man that Sarah had a one night stand with after a work party , he is also a close friend of her ex. Sarah and NIck travel to Spain and then around Europe looking for Chris (and sometimes running into him). Sarah ends up uncovering something much bigger than the disappearance of a Rock star. She and Nick learn to work together and rely on each other while solving the mystery of what happened to Chris. I really enjoyed the relationship between Sarah and NIck and look forward to their next adventure! |
This was not the book I expected. At first, I thought, hm, she's going to end up with the rock star, even thought blurb mentioned the photographer, Nick. Then, I was pretty certain it was her ex's best friend, said photographer. But how they got to the point of love, and the adventures they have together - turned a dark corner. Most of the time, I had to suspend belief, but envisioned a romantic type spy movie like the Bourne movies. Entertaining, but not always realistic, especially with the two leads are the average typical person, rather than a trained CIA agent. However, this all said, the book kept me quite entertained. I was rooting for Sarah and Nick, yelling at Sarah when she did stupidly dangerous things, and then so happy at the end, as my brain and experienced the gamut emotions. While I was warned this would take a dark turn, I had no idea how dark. |
I enjoyed Hot Pursuit but I feel like I have more negative to say than positive, but bare with me because it was still an enjoyable read. It was packed with adventure, crime, plot twists and hot men willing to do what it takes to get the girl. So, let me just say it. The chapters in Hot Pursuit were just too long for my liking, I felt that I was walking down a hallway that wouldn't end for the first 30% of the story, and I believe this was due to the length of chapters, along with the pacing of the story. Once things finally got in motion there was not putting the story down. Except when Sarah, our heroine that tended to be TSTL, on numerous occasions. She would have a spat with Nick and then through a fit and walk off alone in a foreign country alone, or better yet run headlong into dangerous situations without telling anyone where she was going. She was a journalist, not PI for goodness sake! The story arc for Sarah's journalistic debut was completed, but things are only now heating up for her and Nick. They have so much to figure out once they get back home, and with In Hot Water, the next book in the series releasing in the Spring I'm very curious to see where things go from there. So even if I didn't love Hot Pursuit, I'm still enticed enough to continue to read! |
