A fun and easy holiday read. Three wonderful authors, and three warm and holiday stories. Grab a quilt, a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy. Would recommend.

Since this is an anthology I'm going to try to do this broken down individually.
Yule Log Murder by Leslie Meier
My Rating: 3.5 Stars
Truly it's a cute mystery that keeps you on your toes but I felt like there was too much happening to keep track of what the story was about.

Death by Yule Log by Lee Hollis
My Rating: 4 Stars
This was a little darker and had me guessing.

Logged On by Barbara Ross
My Rating: 4 Stars
I kinda loved this one. I loved the character bonding that took place. After all, it is Christmas! ;)

YULE LOG MURDER is an anthology comprised of three authors, Leslie Meier, Lee Hollis, and Barbara Ross. I was really excited to see another holiday anthology because last year when I tried it, I discovered Lee Hollis, who has become one of my favorite Cozy Mystery authors now. So seeing their name here again made me very excited. It’s always nice to try these books because you can get a feel of an author’s writing style, especially since these novellas are part of their larger series.

Leslie Meier is quite popular with her Lucy Stone series. I have read her before, but I haven’t actually tried a full length novel from her yet. They have all been novellas so far (and holiday ones) so this was a great reminder to try out the rest of the series.

Barbara Ross was an author that I never tried before but I have been eyeing up for some time now, so when I saw that her story was included here, I was excited to give it a shot. I also enjoyed her story. But what’s unique about this collection is that although they all have to do with Yule log, every story is very different from one another.

Lastly, there is Lee Hollis, whose story was my favorite of the bunch. I adored this story and the holiday vibe. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who likes food and Cozy Mysteries with some charm and humor.

All in all, this anthology is definitely worth the read. I loved all the food references and the holiday theme. It’s perfect to get you into the Christmas spirit!

This book contains three Holiday mystery novellas by three different mystery authors, Lucy Stone, Barbara Ross and Lee Hollis. . They each used their main mystery solvers as our protagonists. I had not read any of these character stories previously, but that was not too much of a problem. I am sure I was not at all invested in the characters as many are who have been with the series all along. I loved the holiday feel each author inspired and while I had read some of Lee Hollis's work in the past, I was not at all familiar with Lucy Stone, and Barbara Ross. I will defiantly be looking for more from those and of course, Lee. I gave this a solid 4 star review, mostly because of the great atmospheres and not feeling lost even without reading prior.

I love all three of these authors! My favorite story of this trio was the one by Lee Hollis. At the climax of the story, Mona had me literally laughing out loud! I also really enjoyed the sweet story by Barbara Ross and the connection the main character makes with their lonely, curmudgeonly neighbor. A really enjoyable holiday read

A really well written story with a festive plot. Wasn’t entirely my cup of tea but I certainly can appreciate its appeal.

Leslie Meier never disappoints. The small town setting of her books make me feel as if I’m actually there.
I also love how she addresses important topics that are at the forefront of our societal concerns, without being preachy.
I’m not truly ready for a holiday until I’ve read one of Meier’s seasonal mysteries.

Lucy Stone is one of my favorite characters and she's the reason that I wanted to read this one. I loved the shorter stories and enjoyed them greatly.

Well-written and a fun quick to read mystery!

This is a book with three stories by Leslie Meier, Lee Hollis and Barbara Ross. A movie is being filmed in Tinker's Cove over the Christmas season and Lucy Stone and her friends are extras in the film. When an assistant on the film is murdered the cook is the prime suspect and Lucy is determined to prove her innocent. In the second story, set in Bar Harbor over Christmas a local Lothario is murdered and one of Halley's Yule Logs is used as the murder weapon. In the third Christmas mystery Julia asks for help creating a Buche de Noel and soon the dead bodies are piling up. All three of these stories are parts of series. If you haven't read one of these authors, these short novellas are a great introduction to their work. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

What a wonderful surprise! 3 yule log short stories to keep the holiday mysteries properly running on track. While I love Lisa Meier stories, this was a fun idea for a change.
Lucy is going to be in a movie! But, anywhere you find Lucy, you find a murder waiting to be solved. As always, she gets herself in hot water then manages to get out while fingering the bad guy. A quick who done it with a uniquely Lucy twist.
Now the rest...both stories are written close to the same style as Lisa Meier's books. They take the reader on a fun ride through small town crime scenes that need an imaginative person to solve the yule log mysteries.
I wasn't expecting short stories but I'm not unhappy with these 3. Cozy mysteries all, you'll finish them satisfied that the murderer got what he deserved in the end!

3.5

Three holiday murder mystery novellas by three talented writers. What a way to end my holiday reading! And while I was familiar with Leslie Meier, Lee Hollis and Barbara Ross are both new to me. I'm excited to have found two more writers of cozy mysteries as this is one of my favorite genres.

Each of these short stories was a fast read and very entertaining. All three lead characters were smart and funny. I'm now ready to dig into more books from each of these authors.

Many thanks to Kensington Books and Netgalley.

Yule Log Murder is a collection of three cozy mystery novellas, each with a different author. The connecting strains through all three stories are the inclusion of a yule log as a focus and seemingly the state of Maine as a setting. Overall the collection is a pleasant holiday distraction, but for me, two out of the three stories just weren’t as well done as I had hoped.

The first story shares the collection’s name and surely is meant to be the meat of this novella meal. Authored by Leslie Meier, Yule Log Murder provides us the opportunity to catch up with Ms. Meier’s well-known character Lucy Stone. Lucy is both excited to play an extra in a period film in the adorable town of Tinker’s Cove, Maine while writing about the experience for her employer, the town’s newspaper and at the same time overwhelmed by the responsibilities of the holiday season that are stacking up during her time filming. Tension builds on set until a caterer for the film is found murdered, covered in yule log icing. With more suspects than she knows what to do with and family struggles to boot, Lucy jumps right in to help solve the murder. I much prefer the older Lucy Stone books and stories, but Yule Log Murder is stronger in plot and character development than the most recent Lucy Stone novel offering, Silver Anniversary Murder. Although I must admit, Lucy’s son Patrick’s character, along with that of his small family, have significantly changed and not for the better.

The second story and the one I believe to be the true gem of the collection is Death by Yule Log. What an amazing introduction to Lee Hollis; you better believe I’ve already ordered the first book in the Hayley Powell (the main character in Death by Yule Log) series after finishing the story. This cute story starts off with Hayley realizing the Christmas she’s painstakingly organized is not going to be going to plan. Her son is snowed in with her ex-husband, there’s something off about her daughter’s seemingly perfect boyfriend, and the local bad boy is found dead with traces of Hayley’s yule log on the body. Death by Yule had some emotional depth and truly unexpected humor. I really enjoyed reading this story!

The third story, and by far the weakest in the collection, is Logged On by Barbara Ross. The story is essentially a drawn-out yule log recipe that I just couldn’t get into and the mystery itself was incredibly unsatisfying. Logged On had some cute moments but was a let-down after Death by Yule Log.

Three stories in one~
Leslie Meier, Lee Hollis and Barbara Ross dish up some great recipes and storytelling for the holidays in the Yule Log Murder.
Great reading for on the go or in between holiday appointments. I was so engrossed in the settings that I didn't guess whodunit, but was surprised with relief in a couple of instances once the amateur sleuths got to the bottom of it.
Now, I am going back and reading Eggnog Murder to see what I missed last year.
As yummy as a Yule Log sounds for dessert, it really is too much work!!!
I recommended this title to 2 library systems to be added to their collection and they purchased.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me the opportunity to read and review.

This book contained three Christmas cozy mystery novellas. I thoroughly enjoyed each one. I was able to get right into each story from the beginning and didn't want them to end so quickly.
I received a copy of this to review from #netgalley & #KensintonBooks.
