What is it about a pair of unreliable narrators that makes a book so compulsively readable for me? If it’s executed properly I absolutely cannot put a book full of unreliability down and this one was executed to perfection for me!

This is told primarily from both Rebecca and Paul’s perspectives and flips back and forth between them as well as Before, After and Now. You don’t know exactly what event happened to divide things into a before and after, but you damn sure want to find out! Rebecca has a major pill popping problem and Paul is a cheater so they’re both incredibly untrustworthy. I didn’t quite believe either of their stories but you know the truth is in there somewhere, and trying to figure that out was such fun for me.

This one had tons of marital drama, my favorite kind of entertainment and there were seriously some twisted moments in Paul and Rebecca’s marriage. There were also some killer twists that I didn’t see coming at all, this one held my attention throughout and though the ending was a bit over the top and dramatic, I loved it!

The Woman Inside in three words: Slick, Dramatic and Deceptive.

Long Islanders Rebecca and Paul have a complicated relationship plagued by extramarital affairs, substance abuse and an onslaught of other detrimental characteristics bound to doom any marriage. Add two missing women to the equation and we have ourselves a twisted psychological suspense. Multiple narrators include both Paul, Rebecca, the two detectives in search of the missing women and others, adding to the air of mystery throughout the plot.

I really enjoyed this. I loved the multiple, unreliable narrators and found the plot to be original it’s depiction of two lovers who do not know each other at all, which becomes overwhelmingly evident in the shocking conclusion. The only negative I have to say is that I found the transitions between time periods to be a bit clunky and confusing at times. However, this did not detract from the overall appeal of this outstanding thriller and I highly recommend it to fans of this genre.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Dutton, and E. G. Scott for my complimentary e-copy ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Five stars ☆☆☆☆☆
Synopsis:
Rebecca and Paul have been married nearly twenty years. She is a Big Pharma drug rep with an undeniable hardcore addiction to opiates, and she loves her husband more than anything. Paul loves making money, and as a contractor whose business fails with the real estate crash he goes through a terrible crisis of deflated sense of self. The book is written with the husband and wife taking turns narating , then as the psychological warfare between the two of them unfolds it becomes darker and darker. You will not see around the corner or behind the door before the final hammer strikes, and it all comes to a car crash of an end.

I didn't just like this book...it was the best suspense thriller I have read in decades. Gone Girl and Girl on the Train step aside this book had my complete attention till the end. We don't like the main characters, as a bystander we want them to stop long enough to just start being honest with each other. Paul never was going to stop cheating on his wife, one lie of omission stacked one on top of the other like a two hour game of Jenga. I enjoyed the atmosphere that was created in this book, the lavish lives were very much like a Real Housewives scene set with opulent homes, clothes and handbags designed to carry guns to spin class. The police detectives were borrowed from Law and Order..I could almost see Vincent D'Orfio in character questioning his witnesses and cocking his head sideways or Mandy Patankin from Criminal Minds analyizing the witnesses to stack the forensic profile who really pulled the trigger.
The book was not linear, there were more twists and turns that keep you guessing, when you think you have it all figured out the authors litterally pull that rug out from under you.
I would love to see a sequel because it really doesnt end with Paul and Rebecca. Maybe this is just a serial killer of a series starting...that would be a twist.

This was a nice paced thriller, it certainly grabbed your attention from the beginning and held on all the way to the end. The Woman Inside brought up real-life problems couples in America are facing and took them on a sinister path. While Paul is struggling to find himself again after the economy and his business have failed, his depression is alleviated by his daily walks with his big dog Duff. While walking he meets another dog owner and subsequently starts an affair. This is not his first affair, in fact he left his first wife for his last mistress who is now his second wife, Rebecca. Rebecca is a pharmaceutical rep with a fondness for drug samples of her own. When she is let go from her job for stealing from the supply closet she decides to keep her new unemployment status hidden from her husband Paul. While falling into a pit of paranoia and uncertainty from the pills she has become increasingly addicted to, she starts to worry about her life's safety, especially when two women from her husband's life go missing.

this book is about secrets and revenge - sound interesting? Rebecca and Paul's life together began as a secret affair and progressed to marriage. Their dark histories seem to make them the perfect pair, but wait history repeats as Paul begins another affair. The new mistress stalks them and enters their home when they are not at home. A body is found, but who is it? It was suppose to be the mistress but the police inform them that it was someone else. Who, why and most of all how?
This tale involves twists and turns about unfaithfulness and lies - where does it lead??

This book had me on the edge of my seat. I just devoured it every chance I got, wanting more. There were twists and turns where I didn’t expect twists and turns. I enjoyed all the intertwining of the characters.
This book does change perspectives. It would bounce from character to character, past to present, each chapter. There were a few chapters that had more than one point of view. But it was easy to follow
Rebecca falls in love with a married man, ends up marrying him....then can’t believe it when he cheats on her almost 20 years later. She starts spiraling out of control with her prescription pill addiction. She doesn’t know what’s real and what’s in her mind. Every thing that happens as the story goes on makes her lose even more of a grip on reality.
Paul had been a successful businessman until the house market crash. Over time, he becomes more and more depressed and distant. Trying to make himself feel like a man again, he turns to a woman in his neighborhood. Starting an affair with a woman that he knows little to nothing about is bad enough, but for her to be a neighbor?! I can’t decide if that was ballsy or incredibly dumb....or both.

While I enjoyed the book overall (for the most part), the ending was just disappointing. I’m not sure what I was expecting but it definitely wasn’t that. It almost felt like the author was nearing the deadline and had to wrap it up quickly. I was left with a few questions. There were pieces of the story that weren’t explained. Or if they were, I somehow missed it. Had this book had a different ending, it would be minimum 3 stars, possibly 4 stars.

YES, thriller fans rejoice!!! We have a winner!!

This book is freaking fantastic. Stop, drop what you’re doing and go grab this book! It has all the makings of my favorite thriller/suspense. A suspicious and unreliable couple, short chapters, multiple narrators, and a race to see who digs their own grave first. I gobbled this up in a couple of sittings. I love the collaboration between two authors (a publishing professional and a screenwriter) and can’t wait to see what they have in-store for us next.

Rebecca and Paul both come from difficult pasts but their marriage seems to work until Paul decides to cheat on his wife. The affair soon turns out to be the big mistake for Paul and things quickly spiral out of control. Rebecca is a HOT mess and due to her opiate addiction, she can’t seem to keep anything straight.

Devious, addictive and manipulative this is one for the tip top of your TBRs.

I received a DIGITAL Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Lately, it seems like the psychological thriller genre is over saturated. The plots are the same, and so many try to have "that twist" that will leave you awestruck. I believe that was the intention with The Woman Inside. It has it all, lies, deceit, love, stalking, and revenge. The story took a while to reel me in It started off slow. It's told by the POV of both Rebecca and Paul (think Gone Girl).

I can't get into specifics without giving away the plot points so I won't. Overall it was a good read. It will make you think of your own relationships, and what's real/fake. There were a few holes in the story but the ending made up for it. I'd recommend The Woman Inside for a good, quick read.

A thrilling suspense.! The Woman Inside continued to take twists and turns and kept me turning pages. The main characters were not likable, due to their deplorable acts, deep rooted narcism, and lack of morals, Yet, the final moments in their twisted love affair were heart wrenching to see play out . The final moment was genius and wrapped up this twisted story perfectly. A solid 4 star read!

I've read a lot of thrillers, and here's the thing-you can't just have an interesting twist. The character development in this book is abysmal. Paul, the husband, is so one-dimensional. Rebecca is slightly better but not much. Then, you get to the twist, and I wasn't really impressed. Honestly, it's a bit unbelievable to me. I HATED the ending (though some people will really love it, I'm sure). The one thing I will say is it was a fast read. There are just so many better thrillers out there. I'd pass on this one.

This was one of the betters books I've read in a while! The plot line, characters, deception, lies, sneaking around all led to a storyline I got sucked into and couldn't put down. Just when I thought I might know how it was going to end, I got another twist! It was an enjoyable, easy read.

3, maybe 3.5 stars? My first thought is that i’m left feeling underwhelmed at the ending. There were never any huge, shocking reveals or plot twists, which is what you would expect from a thriller, right?

Okay, let’s talk characters. Pretty much everyone in this book is just a shitty person. I found myself rooting for the cops, who are working against everyone else throughout the book. So I don’t know what to think about that.

This was definitely interesting and something kept my attention enough for me to read the whole thing whether it was the writing style, the plot, or both, but nothing ever blew me away. And the ending was just...meh.

I did enjoy the different POVs throughout, which I thought would have started to annoy me after a while. And I liked the quick changes of POV between the two main characters at the climax. That was cool.

I didn’t hate this book, but I didn’t love it either. It was creative, but the main female character, Rebecca is so utterly unlikable and the massive level of suspension of disbelief that is required to go along with how she gets herself wrapped around the axle just makes this book ridiculous on some levels. A simple conversation with her husband would have unraveled the plot in about 30 minutes. I can’t imagine a 20 year marriage, given that they are each other’s “perfect match” would have disintegrated to this degree to the point where a properly worded question wouldn’t have sparked a conversation. Enter the deranged mistress that has the come alive from the dead qualities of a veritable Jason Vorhees. I enjoy a good thriller as much as the next person, but I like a little believability with mine. This book was pretty out there for me.

The Woman Inside reads like a really bad novelization of a limited Netflix/Hulu/AMC/etc. series that I would probably enjoy.

The woman inside is an exquisite thriller told from the points of view of the husband and the wife. The plot is convincing and the characters are believable and well developed. This book was hard for me to put down and when I did take a break I continued to think about what was happening in the book. This is one of the best thrillers I’ve read lately. I has a great ending. I highly recommend it. My thanks to Netgalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley, E.G. Scott and Penguin Group Dutton for the free e-book in exchange for an honest review.

Rebecca didn’t believe in love until she met Paul, a married man with a past that is as dark as her own. They sensed that that they were each other’s perfect match. Twenty years later, Paul and Rebecca are struggling to keep their relationship alive throughout all the secrets and damage. Paul is cheating on Rebecca with a slightly unstable lady and it goes bad fast. His mistress is stalking them both and Rebecca discovers Paul’s plan to build a new life without her. Rebecca’s pill usage is getting out of control, but she comes up with a plan of her own to get back at her husband.

I found the first half of this novel dragged a bit for me, but you hit that half way mark and suddenly I couldn’t put it down and I was shocked over and over and over. The last half is crazy fast paced and kept me sitting on the edge of my seat. I was surprised by how quickly I devoured this half of the novel! I really didn’t like either character, but that totally worked for this novel. I found the relationship between Paul and Rebecca very convoluted, but it did keep me interested in the novel. The ending to this novel was completely jaw dropping and I really didn’t see it coming at all! I really enjoyed this domestic thriller and all the different little elements that affected Rebecca and Paul’s relationship because it is never one thing that tears apart a relationship. I also appreciated that the authors discussed opioid abuse because it is a problem in the world we live in today. I would definitely recommend this novel and push through all the background to get into the amazing, jaw dropping second half!

This book was ok in some parts, but it was difficult to read. That text was all over the place and throughout the book, weird numbers were just thrown in and the title/authors of the book where randomly throwing in within sentences/paragraphs. It made for some confusion In the storyline.
I absolutely hated the ending.

I usually love thrillers but this book was just not for me. It was very hard to get in to and I felt there was just a lot of holes in the story and it did become confusing at times. I had really high hope going into this book and was really let down.
